Fantasy The Lost Treasure of Creation

❀❀❀ Unila Crys-Feathri ❀❀❀

Unila blinked repeatedly, as a flow of blood ran over her left eye. It was hard to tell, but the brightness in the area had changed from the dimness underneath the rocks. Now, the area was a bright teal-tinted colour. Her whole body felt as if all the air had been knocked out of it, she struggled to breathe properly, taking panting gasps every now and then. As she attempted to get into a better position, she stumbled and hit her arm across a rock, which made a strange hollow noise. It barely processed in her mind, what was going on, with all her senses dulled from the blood loss. However, she could see a blazing figure. "Ge..ir" She was barely audible, but she wished with all her power that he would hear her. A strange feeling suddenly overwhelmed her, wanting nothing more than to be by his side. Perhaps it was a mere desperate need, to be comforted in times like this. "Come...here...don't..fight..anymore."

Her powerful emotions somehow triggered something within her, as her graceful wings materialized out of her back. A magical, pure white aura filled the area. Lightly soothing all heavy emotions. She was still in an awkward position, on the floor with her arms underneath her head in an attempt to see over the rocks in the way. However her wings slowly pushed a few rocks aside, subconsciously wanting to see Geir better. A few glowing feathers fell from the wings, as if representing her depleting life force.

Thomas Nightingale

Thomas nearly fell asleep on Kokoro's back several times, but through shear willpower, he stayed up. Yawning once more, he noticed that they stopped moving and caught the last of Kokoro's words. Thomas frowned slightly. How could Eri tell what was ahead of them? Thomas puzzled over this for a few moments, before coming to the conclusion that Eri was an air elemental dragon. It was the only thing that made sense to Thomas, so he concluded it had to be true. Thomas nocked an arrow. Wait... Thomas frowned. Hadn't he already nocked an arrow? Shaking the odd feeling off, he tried to focus on the task at hand. He nocked his arrow... No. What?! Thomas got off of Kokoro's back and nocked an arrow, looking around wildly. Nothing. Calming down only slightly, he nocked his arrow... He was on Kokoro's back. Thomas calmed down. It appeared he was stuck in a repeating illusion. From who, he couldn't tell. Thomas only hoped that the others would notice, and get him out of it before he went insane. Thomas nocked an arrow...

Mavndrus and Tioni Favehari and Leandor Cyrus

Mavndrus was furious now, a filthy dragon was threatening him and some voice was questioning his power. "Get out of my head, how dare you try to play with me!!! I dont have anything to prove to." Mav yelled. Tioni looked at Mav a bit confused as it didnt look like he was talking to the fiery dragon man that approached him. OK so i did come at a very strange time, maybe i should just... But before he could finish his thought, a bright light filled the cave coming from the rumble. Leandor noticed the light and could make out a pair of wings. It was the girl who had been hurt multiple times in the mine. She was emitting some kind of ability that sort of lessened the tension. Mav covered his eyes a bit and so did Tioni. "Wow i feel really ..mellow right now." Tioni chuckled. "Yeah so do i." But it didnt completely take away his anger. Leandor sheathed his sword "Geir i believe that is your friend, go to her..."

Eri Zabelan
Eri narrowed her eyes. Kokoro seemed edgy, but not enough to sense it fully. The boy, she still had not gotten his name, definitely seemed to feel and shift as if something was wrong. And Thomas, she focused on him, he seemed distant, almost as if he was trapped, yet he shifted slightly, as if he was fighting it as well.

Eri had the horrible urg to growl, and threaten or scare the person attacking them. Yet there was no one. Attacking them at least. It might just be the scent of decaying flesh but still it made her uneasy. "I do not know if I am sensing anything or not." Er admitted. "But I am not at ease. Keep you minds open and watch for anything." Turning once again she started to proceed with caution. Her steps slowed and Eri took special care to observe the images around them, and translate them into a story. But her winds also told her of the the openings ahead. This sure is an adventure. She thought, staring at the images one at a time as she passed. @Psychotic Dreams @Rin Nyx @Creekstar

Geir Brandr Ignatius

Location: Mining Village/Mines

With: Unila, Eihrodeign, Lani, Auluua, Leh, Irha, Mavndrus, Leandor, Tioni

Just barely hearing mumbling from behind him, Geir's expression showed some relief as he realized that Unila was still alive. Slowly, teal flames began to die down until they were just smaller flames lining the edges of the cavern, and the glowing blue faded from Geir's eyes, letting them return to their normal gold color. The flames along the man's body died down as well, as the soothing aura washed over him. He was still angry, and still swore in his mind that, when they got out of the mine, the elf was a dead man, but for now there were more pressing matters at hand. The dragon was already in the midst of turning when Leandor suggested he go to the injured girl, and he wasted no time in doing so. His skin now cooled off enough that it was not dangerous to the touch, Geir immediately went to her side, kneeling down next to her and checking her pulse.

"Hey, stay with me now, okay Ila? I'm gonna get you out of here, okay?" he told her softly, trying to assess the damage that she had taken. She had some burns from running through the fire wall that he had put up to protect her, but luckily, she had been wearing Geir's fireproof shirt, so the damage from the fire was less than it could have been. The crumbling ceiling, however, had done a lot more damage to her, and external and possible internal bleeding, as well as any possible hits to the girl's head, worried the dragon. "Don't fall asleep, okay? I want you to stay with me," he told her, trying to keep her awake. Once again feeling desperate, he looked towards Irha and Leh. "You mentioned that you had medical supplies. Please, can we use them?" he requested, his gaze traveling back towards the injured Unila. He reached down to grab her hand, hoping that the physical contact would comfort her as well as keep her awake.

@Veirrianna Valentine @Ninja God

((I like how, through all of this, Geir hasn't mentioned the appearance of Mav's brother even once xP I don't think he's even really noticed him yet, he was so focused on anger...))

Eihrodeign simply watched as chaos erupted yet again. As much of a Guardian as he was meant to be, even he understood that there was only so much he could do until it really just came down to the people alone. Some of them, Auluaa or Ila, even the new girl, the one he could tell off the bat was a hybrid, or Leandor and Leh. They were all easyto calm, easy to pacify and keep on track. It really came down to the childishness of both Geir and Mavndrus. Neither understood how to approach things as maturely as they needed to, and it was the main source of their problems.

The former of the pair was young, though, and someone his age would do little to be able to sway him. Mavndrus however, older, more set in this ways, but still plenty able to learn. It left the elder drake with one option he knew would work best. Walking towards the Elven princes and their guard one more icene wall began to form between the now split group. Stopping by Lani for a moment Eihro drew she slight girl into a hug before putting her back down and patting her head in an endearing manner.

"You're a strong girl Lani. I need to leave for a little bit, do me a favour and pour some ice water on hothead over there, okay? See you soon, dear."

With that Eihro walked through the ice wall before it finished closing, and as it finally sealed behind him he drew his great blade and thrust it upwards into the roof causing another cave-in, this one cutting off the two groups from one another and leaving the Elder drake with Mavndrus, Leandor and the child.

"You may think you're sly, Mavndrus, but I saw what happened. I won't kill you, so fear not retribution from my hand, nor will I tell anyone else, so fear not retribution from any save perhaps Geir. You two are more alike than you realise. That being said, you will not put any more lives at risk due to your childish ways, and certainly not the life of my daughter. We will dig our way out the way we came, and I will see you kept far from my daughter until you can learn to grow up."

Walking past the trio Eihro sheathed his sword and began using his massive physique to forcefully pull rubble from the pile before turning and casting a single, cold look, far from the generally warm eyes of Eihrodeign the Guardian, yet far more like those of an emotionless and cold dictator consigning millions to death as if they were but dust in the breeze as his voice cut like a scythe through wheat. If there was a solid descriptor for the power that carried in his expression, it would be black ice that could freeze over the very fires of hell.

"Lani was next to Ila when those stones fell. Just know you were but centimetres from signing your very, very short life over to my blade, child-prince Mavndrus."

@Ninja God

~~~~~~~
As the cave in cut Lani off from her father, she walked towards the rubble and placed a hand on the stones, closing her eyes for a moment and sighing sadly. She knew that she didn't have to worry about losing him, but it didn't change the fact that she knew his mood had soured, and she never liked to see him as upset as he'd just been.
"I love you dad," she whispered, "Stay safe and stay calm, please."
Turning around, she walked through the group, puffs of air whipping about and putting out any fires left through out the tunnel save those meant for light. Marching straight past Geir and Ila, though giving the latter a soft and worried glance as she walked by, the youthful hybrid approached the princess and her guard, her expression surprisingly serious for the usually light hearted girl.
"Princess Irha, you said you respect my father, Eihrodeign, correct? If that is the case, then you shouldn't even have to think about whether or not your answer to Geir should or shouldn't be a yes. You should be taking your medical supplies out and helping them. It is what he would do if he weren't dealing with another problem at the moment."
Holding her serious and almost grim expression for a moment as she locked eyes with the princess, Lani's nose twitched slightly and she shook her head before looking at the princess in a new light that caused her to smile widely. If Ihra's nose was anything like hers, she should have just realised she wasn't alone.
Still, there were things that needed to be done, and it wasn't going to be easy.
"Alright everyone, my dad decided he needed to go deal with Mavndrus. That leaves us alone, and I need to tell you all something, and as much as you may not like it, Geir, I'm past the point of worrying about upsetting you. We can't act like children any more, and we can't keep being distracted. I've heard it enough times to know, but there is something in here with us, like I said before, and it's getting a laugh out of watching us fight and fret amongst ourselves. Geir, you need to learn to approach things coolly. Auluaa, you've been fine, as have you Leh. Irha, don't take things so personally. Dragon's that are like you or myself need to rise above such petty things and realise we've been gifted for our traits. And Ila..."
Pausing a moment and sighing, Lani walked over to where Geir and the girl were, kneeling by them and running a friendly hand through the girls hair, trying to get any debris out of it as she waited for Irha to make her decision on the medical supplies.
"You need to work on trying to watch yourself a bit more. I think when dad finds what he's after I'm going to see about making you less accident prone."
❀❀❀ Unila Crys-Feathri ❀❀❀
Health: Approaching death
Position: Lying in an uncomfortable position surrounded by rocks
Holding hands with a teal haired man (Geir)
A dark-skinned woman is stroking her hair (Lani)
Appearance: Wearing a male's shirt, which acts as a short dress (Geir's)
Blood trickling from the top of her head, which runs over her left eye (Cave-In)
Bleeding on her right calf (Cave-In)
Bruises all over her body (Cave-In)
Bite and claw marks all over her body (Bat-Monsters)
Looks sleepy and pained
Unila was flooded with relief and comfort, as Geir approached. It felt as if a heavy weight had miraculously lifted off her shoulders, soothing her mind, and perhaps, causing her to feel sleepy...However, as Geir's warm hand firmly grasped onto her's, she remembered the dangers of falling asleep. Squeezing his hand back, as one of the few actions she could successfully perform at the moment, she hoped he would be re-assured. His hand was filled with warmth, likely to be reminiscent of the flames blazing around them just moments ago. It was pleasing, she felt as if she never wanted to let go.
As time passed, she could feel her conscious slowly slipping, the desire to sleep growing stronger by the second. Her eye was still covered in blood, her vision blurry and a dark crimson red. A few sudden events revived her liveliness, such as the towering ice wall splitting the group apart or the rocks falling from the ceiling. But she couldn't react or move, her body still in a numbed, crushing pain. She barely noticed Lani's worried glance, and wanted to at least give a smile, but she struggled in vain. However, at her second approach, she tried once again to smile, and wasn't too sure if it was successful or not, but she could feel her mouth moving. Lani's words were drowned out by her
consciousness, unsure of what she said, but it was comforting, as her hands stroked her hair.
Pansa sighed as he mixed a solution in the dark for Keir. Thankfully was in the shadows when Keir said what he said. He would have been so embarrassed to be seen vulnerable in the open. He mind snapped back to helping Keir out. He wasn't looking too well. The ninja silently stirred the brew as he thought about why lie in the future. Satisfied with the consistency of the brew, he poured in into a small vial and corked it. He set it down next to Keir with a note explaining the contents.
He was quite awkward when it came to comforting people so he would leave it to his group to console Ireth. He felt bad he couldn't say anymore to console the crying girl.
Hearing the sound of Arya changing even if he didn't see it brought a blush to his face again. He wasn't used to having women nearby. His village was mostly composed of men and the women lived in a nearby village. It was done in a way to keep the men's families away from danger. A ninja's line of work brought enemies knocking on the village door sometimes and having the woman and children in a village hidden away elsewhere made sure the enemy could not play on their emotions.
His mind again wondered to that fateful night. His fiancé had snuck into his village to be with him as he had been so busy with work he had been unable to see her. He remembered a flash of the blade and the blood leaking from the corner of her mouth as she whispered her love into his ear as her essence stained the floors made the tears flow freely.
He gripped his wakashi more firmly now as he began to practice his katas again. He was powerless to save the love of his life. He would not let someone else have theirs taken away. He would not let that happen.
Raiquen Nguyen
Odd, Merle commented as they began walking again, there seems to be something wrong with the man on the tigress's back. Despite her dislike for the man, she hopped on top of him to investigate, but couldn't quite figure out what was wrong. Thomas's eyes were half closed and glazed over, and his arm kept twitching. Suddenly, something dawned on the female raven. Raiquen! She exclaimed, letting out a caw at the same time. I think he's having some sort of nightmare. Yes, he's covered in sweat! He's also twitching a lot. Should I try to wake him?
That would probably be a good idea, Raiquen decided. Merle lightly bit at Thomas's finger, but he didn't wake. Such a bite could usually wake anyone. Berhtram fluttered over, his curiosity peaked. He won't snap out of it? Raiquen asked, somewhat confused. Strange. I wonder if it could be the doing of some malicious spell caster. The boy shuddered a little bit at his suggestion; it brought back many unpleasant memories. Still, it was a possibility, though he wasn't sure when such a spell, if it was one, could have been cast. Raiquen decided to alert the others. "Won't... wake. Nightmare? Illusion? Spell?" He quickly realized that he could easily be talking about himself, and clarified. "Thomas." Berhtram cawed a bit to help out, flapping his wings to attract the others' attention to the distant man.
Kokoro Himura
Location: Desert Tomb
With: Raiquen, Eri, Thomas
Kokoro's ear twitched back to listen to the sound of wings flapping, and ravens cawing from a position on her back. She twisted, turning her head to try to see her back as best as she could. Thomas was still sitting up there, but seemed to be unconscious, and, like Raiquen said (at least, she thought that was what his words meant), it didn't seem like he was waking up. Slowing to a stop, Kokoro sat down in an attempt to get Thomas to slide down and off of her back slowly, though he probably fell a lot harder than she intended. Once he was off of her back, though, the tigress changed into her human form, turning to look at him. "Are you sure he's not just exhausted?" she asked Raiquen. She wasn't very familiar with how most magics worked, as she, herself, only had one magical ability. Now it was her time to feel a bit useless, as she really wasn't sure what to do with herself.
Arya Tinuviel
Location: Temple Ruins
With: Ireth, Keir, Pansa
Arya managed to get some sleep, though she slept rather lightly, and not very well, as the smallest noise would wake her. She had told herself -- and her shadow -- that she wanted to try to trust the people she was with, but trusting them enough to sleep around them was difficult for her. She didn't feel safe letting her guard down so easily and so completely by being asleep. After a few hours of off and on dozing, Arya awoke once more, deciding that it was time to just get up. She sat up, wincing just a little at the pain in her side as she did. She really should have dressed that wound, but she just...couldn't quite get over the idea of taking her clothes off in the same room as others. Like the issue with her sleeping, it was hard for her to put herself in so vulnerable a position with others around. Besides, she hadn't been traveling with the others for long, what if they were perverts? The idea could be ridiculous, but she had no way of knowing, and was a bit paranoid about those kinds of things.
Using her hand to put some pressure on her wound to dull the pain, the girl brought herself to her feet, grabbing her scythe as she did. She'd have to heal her side once she had the energy to do so. Healing definitely took a lot more energy and concentration to do than, say, manipulating liquids. Now that she was standing, she made her way over to where Pansa was, walking quietly so as not to wake the others, but certainly not silently, as the quiet clink of her armor sounded ever so slightly as she moved. Slowing her pace as she approached, she leaned against a nearby pillar, crossing her arms in front of her as she did. "Did you get any sleep yet? I can keep watch for now," she told the enkidu quietly. She wasn't sleeping, anyways, and she didn't want to refuse her allies any chance to get some rest.
Thomas Nightingale
Thomas' world spun as he fell off of Kokoro's back. He nocked his arrow as he tried desperately to escape this reali-'Illusion' he reminded himself. It seemed as though he had spent days in this fake reality. He tried not to blink, not to nod off, not to get distracted, otherwise it'd all repeat. His eyes straining, he peered into the darkness until it swallowed him whole. Thomas awoke to see everything normal. All of the others looked at him in concern. "Hey Thomas, are you okay?" Eri asked him. "You gave us quite the scare" Kokoro said. "Yeah, I was really worried about you man!" Raiquen said. Thomas relaxed. He was finally out. All of his new friends even cared about him. He felt at home... Wait... Thomas nocked his arrow. He pointed it straight at Raiquen. "The boy I know stutters. Who are you? What have you done to my friend?" The boy looking like Raiquen laughed, and the world shifted once more for Thomas. Thomas lay on the floor. Once again, his "friends" around him. "You... Okay...? Thomas?" Raiquen said. Thomas shook his head. "No... Nononono!" Thomas nocked his arrow and shot it at the fake Raiquen. The arrow pierced his stomach, as Raiquen fell to the floor. "I... Thought... We.... Family." Raiquen shuddered, and died. Kokoro immediately was at Raiquen's side, holding his limp body, crying. Eri snarled in anger, and advanced at Thomas. "How could you? He sacrificed his Ravens, for you! You really are a heartless monster!" Thomas scrambled backwards, in denial. "What? I... No! I don't believe you!" Thomas nocked his arrow and shot again, as the world shifted once more. Thomas awoke to see a battle ensuing. He saw the three try and battle a Mage, probably the Mage who put him under the illusion spell. Nocking his arrow, he loosed a shot at the Mage, hoping to help his companion. No... No! Thomas watched his arrow fly in a direction he didn't want it to go. Right into Kokoro's back, as she battled the Mage. Gasping, she fell down, as blood dribbled out of her mouth. She turned to look at Thomas in disbelief, before whispering "Traitor..." She collapsed and died. Thomas' face was etched with horror, as he continued to watch Raiquen and Eri die to the mage's Magic. The Mage turned to face him. "I'd like to thank you. If you hadn't killed your friend, they could've beaten me." He waved his hand, and the world turned black. Thomas awoke to see the dead bodies of his friends strung out on the ground in front of him. Crying, he fell to his knees before nocking his arrow, and proceeded to try and kill himself in his sorrow. As the arrow got closer and closer, Thomas closed his eyes in acceptance. The pain never came, as he felt himself get pushed to the ground. He opened his eyes, and saw Kokoro over him. "Are you okay?" She asked. "Wha...? I-I... I saw you die!" Thomas questioned, panicking. Kokoro just laughed. "You're my friend Thomas, no petty Mage can get between me and my friends." Thomas smiled back in relief, and closed his eyes in relief. He felt a splash of liquid fall on his face. Opening his eyes, he saw Kokoro's face in abject horror. Thomas looked around quickly. 'What happened? Who stabbed her?' Looking at Kokoro, he saw an arrow in her mid-section. His arrow. "No! Nononono! I-I... I couldn't have!" Thomas held Kokoro in his arms, as she died slowly. "I'm so sorry, please, I'm so sorry!" Thomas cried over Kokoro, desperation setting in. Kokoro looked up at his with hate in her eyes. "I hate you. I-" she coughed up blood. The light in her eyes slowly dimmed. "I... Hate.... You..." Thomas cried out in anger, in sadness, in loneliness. He opened his eyes to another scene. He saw his friends. Thomas' eyes started watering. He took a deep breath, and prayed that this was all real. He stepped forward, and prayed.
@Rin Nyx @Creekstar @Psithurism
(Wow. That slowly evolved into something I'm proud of, but also scared of. Please don't delete it.)
Raiquen Nguyen
Raiquen listened as Kokoro seemed to be at a loss for what to do. We could try to find the source of this spell, he thought, but, even if we did cut off the flow of magic by killing the caster, it may be a curse or something else requiring a counterspell. I doubt we could get some malicious caster to dispel it without a fight, too. For all we know, Thomas could lose it before we find a solution. Raiquen stood still, trying to think up something. Suddenly, an idea dawned on him. I might be able to reach out to him in the dreamscape to see if there's anything I can do from the other side. I doubt I can pull him out, but I can at least keep him company. Time passes differently in dreams and illusions, after all, he told the ravens. Out loud, Raiquen said "Don't... leave... behind. Find... source." Hopefully the others had gotten the message about what he wanted them to do: take them and find the source of the spell. Retreating into his consciousness and severing control of his body, he prepared for what he was about to do.
In his mind's eye, Raiquen glanced briefly at his own dark dreamscape, which was currently an empty void, before attempting to reach out towards Thomas. As he brushed the other man's consciousness, a door appeared. It was much easier to do things in this world when he visualized something physical to interact with. Taking a deep breath, he reached out to open the door, confidently twisted the knob, and stepped through. He was momentarily blinded by light.
Remember, he coached himself, whatever you see here, it isn't real. It's just a dream, no matter how horrifying, and it will try to mess with you. The light faded. Looking around with glowing purple eyes, which the others had never seen open, he saw other people standing next to him and a man in front of him with tears in his eyes. Raiquen realized with embarrassment that he had no clue what his allies looked like. The man was likely to be Thomas, though. Straightening from the hunched position he usually took in reality, he strode up to the man, still much shorter than him. Looking up and narrowing his eyes inquisitively, he said "Thomas, I presume? I'm Raiquen, though I don't believe I ever bothered to tell you my name. Welcome to the world of the mind."
Eri Zabelan
Slowly lowering herself to the ground, Eri kept her eyes on Thomas, but all of her other senses were focused on their surroundings. At the mention of a spell or illusion, Eri nodded in agreement. It did seem most probable to be an illusion, maybe something that had plagued Thomas before. Or a spell, another attack from the tomb, or someone in it. But then at the proposal of it being only exaustion she shook her head. "It does not seem... natural to a point." She whispered. For she did believe what she said. It did not seem like merely and exaughstion point. For the boy seemed too strong for that.
A small sigh escaped her and she closed her eyes. To focus on her surroundings. Still the strange wary feeling never left her, but it didn't seem close. Something, or someone is trying to push them out. Eri understood the feeling. But still. She was determined to help these people.
"Don't... leave... behind. Find... source." At the sound of the boys voice, whose name she still did not know, Eri's eyes flew open. Nodding, she glanced at Kokoro.
"We should await for more information before moving on." She murmured, hoping not to bother the two in a medetive state. @Psychotic Dreams @Rin Nyx @Creekstar
Thomas Nightingale
Thomas shook in agony, sobs racking his body. The hallucinations slowly became worse as time went on. The latest was his friends slaughtering his parents in front of him, as he lay helpless. The world shifted once more, as he saw his friends standing there in front of his. Thomas hunched over and started crying. Suddenly, a peculiar voice spoke to him. It sounded like the boy... Raiquen? Thomas looked up. Raiquen's normally closed eyes were open, showing a majestic purple colored eyes like his own. Thomas shook his head in disbelief. "No, I don't believe you. You're just another trick, designed to break me. You've been at it for months by now, I won't fall so easily to some simple trick. This wouldn't be the first time you've tried this." Thomas started laughing somewhat insanely at the absurdity of it all. Raiquen talking like a normal person? As if. Thomas glanced at Raiquen. "Well, since you failed, let's see what you have for me next. Another torture scene? Another fake reality? Come on, hit me with your best shot." The world shifted once more, before stopping back into the original dungeon scene. Sweat was pouring down his face, as he nocked his arrow... S***! Thomas groaned, once he finally thought he was out of it. Wait. Thomas noticed that awake Raiquen was still in the new scene. Thomas frowned. That never happened before. Then again, it could just end up being another trick. "So, how did you end getting in here 'Raiquen'?" Thomas asked, curious to see what the Mage's answer would be. "Come on Mage, give me something real creative here." Thomas started laughing again, so very amused by his own joke.
Raiquen Nguyen
Raiquen cringed at Thomas's harsh laugh. He already sounded at least half broken. What sorts of things had he seen? The boy jumped a little as the world suddenly changed around them, but remained mostly calm. He saw Thomas draw an arrow back, a horrified expression on his face. The draw of the arrow may have some significance; he decided to keep an eye out for it. Thomas looked somewhat confused to see Raiquen still there, as was to be expected. "How did I get here?" He repeated the question asked to him, ignoring the other man's laugh. "It's not that hard for me. I just reached out from my dreamscape to your mind. You know, it's interesting seeing what you all look like for the first time. Actually, it's been ages since I've seen anything. Is this similar to what the tomb looks like?" He looked around after this last question. He noticed that there were images carved into the walls, but couldn't make them out; they were hazy, a clear indication that this wasn't reality. Turning his attention back to Thomas, he continued speaking.
"You want me to be creative?" Raiquen asked, slightly amused. "Or are you talking to someone else? In any case, I guess I'll try to explain myself to you, though I'm still not incredibly keen on you after how you acted at our first meeting. It helps to pass the time in these things, anyway." He sat down on the ground, though the world already seemed to shift around them again. "As you've likely noticed, I'm not ordinary. I suffer from multiple curses, but the most major one forces me to remain in an enchanted sleep. I can't wake, no matter how hard I try, but I have become proficient in my ability to sleepwalk and speak. My raven friends are my eyes, and can communicate with me mentally, so I get by. Still, I remain in a dream, so I have developed certain related capabilities. That's how I was able to reach you here, in your own dreamlike illusion." While he waited to see how Thomas would react, he continued looking around at the room, which seemed to be blurring.
So it wasn't some sort of natural sleep. That wasn't good. Kokoro sighed as Raiquen retreated into his unconsciousness as well. "I don't think it's safe to stay in one place like this for long," Kokoro shook her head, looking at Eri, though she agreed that they needed to take a moment to figure things out. She wasn't about to leave them behind, but they needed to find some way to wake them, and fast. "Raiquen said to find the source...I think..." Kokoro wasn't absolutely positive that was what he meant, but it was what she was going on. "I don't know much about magic, so I don't know what that means, really," she admitted. Thinking for a moment, she asked, "Could it be a person that we're supposed to find? Or maybe an item? Did Thomas touch something here that the rest of us didn't?" she thought, just trying to spout out ideas now. If they were supposed to find a person, that meant that Kokoro would have to carry both Thomas and Raiquen on her back while they searched, now that they were both unresponsive to outside stimulants. She was strong enough to do so in her tiger form, but it would hinder her fighting and reaction times, which could be deadly in a tomb like this.
Pansa stopped as he heard the faint clink of Arya's armor come closer. He shook his head slightly as she asked if he needed sleep. He was used to not sleeping much from his mercenary days. He shook his head as he sheathed his blade.
"I'll be fine Arya-san. I'm not much of a sleeper. I have quite vivid nightmares that i dare not sleep for long. I'm used to running on very little sleep. Why don't you go lay your head down. Ill fetch you when I'm sleepy."
He moved to a flat portion of the room and pulled out a calligraphy set. Writing poetry was how he relaxed. It helped him express his feelings, kept his mind sharp and most of all: let him be alone even if he was amongst people. He felt secure in isolation. The one whose arms made him feel secure was gone so only silence and darkness comforted him now.
Thomas raised his eyebrow in confusion. That was certainly... Creative. He hadn't heard that one before. However, it did explain a lot about Raiquen, and why he acted and looked the way he did. The explanation also perfectly summed up how Raiquen got into here in the first place. However, it wasn't the first time the Mage had tried something similar. In fact... "Well, I certainly haven't heard that one before. But you do change it up every time. This is pretty new, haven't seen you try something like this since... I don't know, a couple months ago? Well, see you later. I won't crack, I'll last until my friends set me free. It's had to have been a long time, I've been in here for at least a year now. I'm willing to bet they're already fighting you, and I can finally get free." Thomas stated strongly, before noticing the room shifting. "See you later Mage, better luck next time" Thomas closed his eyes, and opened them. He saw a great beast lunge at him, and through instinct, he nocked his arrow. Growling in annoyance, he shot his arrow, making the beast disappear. "Damn, again? No matter what I do..." Thomas muttered under his breath, before seeing 'Raiquen' again. "Give it up! I've already shot down your idea of giving my friends through fake apparitions and feelings multiple times now! It hasn't worked, and it isn't going to work anytime soon. Scram!" Thomas turned away from 'Raiquen' annoyed, waiting for the room to shift.
(Creekstar, in order to keep thing continuous, we'll probably have to hop around once Thomas believes that it's actually Raiquen, since a year has passed for Thomas, in a couple of minutes.)
Raiquen Nguyen
Raiquen listened to Thomas's speech, somewhat amused. The man was in terrible shape mentally. "Ah, I hate to ruin all of this for you," Raiquen told him, "but it's likely been a maximum of ten minutes since you entered this illusion. I doubt the others have even started moving again, let alone found the one you seem to be talking to. I'll be sure to let you know when I receive new information, though." He didn't bother to stand when the scene changed; he was an intruder here, so the illusion wouldn't affect his position. He briefly wondered what would happen if a wall appeared where he was sitting, but didn't think about it too long. As the new scene solidified, a monstrous creature came into view, leaping for Thomas's throat. Raiquen watched calmly as the man shot it and turned away. "I could leave if I wanted to," Raiquen replied to his demand, "but that wouldn't be great for you. My job right now seems to be to keep you from snapping, and I'm no help outside, after all. By the way, any idea if it's possible to manipulate this illusion like a dream? This is probably going to get boring fast." This last part he added simply out of curiosity before he glanced around as the world shifted again, wondering what would happen next.
Thomas shook his head in disbelief. "No, there's no way. I-I... I've been in here for so lon-..." Thomas voiced cracked with raw emotion at that. Tears streamed down his face, not wanting to accept that fact. Thomas turned to face 'Raiquen' after he was done talking. "You think I haven't tried to manipulate this fake illusion. I've been trying for a whole year now..." Thomas trailed off as the scene shifted again. He showed up in a plain bedroom, with simple toys strewn across the room, and a neatly tucked bed in the corner. Thomas stared at the scene in horror. "No... No! No! No! Not this again..." Thomas fell to his knees, as his body and eyes were forced to open. He tried everything in his power to stop himself, to change the scene, to do anything. Thomas nocked his arrow. He watched as little 14 year old Thomas sat on his bed, anxiously awaiting his parents to return home. Finally, the door opened. In stepped his parents, his father looking almost exactly like Thomas today, with the exception of blue eyes, not purple. He got that from his mother, who looked almost like royalty, very defined and graceful with chocolate brown hair, and fair skin. Thomas struggled against his own body, trying to vain to stop the rest of the scene from continuing. Little Thomas brightened considerably, "Mom! Dad! You guys are home! I missed you so much!" Thomas' body moved on its own, drawing his bow back, launching the arrow right through his mother's chest, instantly killing her. Thomas' father stared at his wife's body in abject horror, while little Thomas prattled on not noticing the horrific scene occurring. Little Thomas turned around to look at his parents "and while that was happening, I too-" he stopped, puzzled. "Mom? What are you doing? Dad, why is mo-" he was cut off when Thomas shot another arrow into his Dad's neck, causing blood to splatter on little Thomas' face. Little Thomas stared at his Dad in shock, before fainting. Thomas finally regained control of his body once more, falling to his knees. "DAMN IT!" Thomas sobbed, "Not again..." He finally looked back up, finally seeing Raiquen in the same position he was in before. Fury etched into Thomas' face, he screamed insanely at Raiquen "WHY ARE YOU HERE? WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?" Thomas fell fully, and went silent, for he could cry no more, feeling more broken than he has ever been in his life.
Arya Tinuviel
Location: Temple Ruins
With: Ireth, Keir, Pansa
Arya watched as Pansa retreated to do his own thing. She really couldn't sleep, anyways, so there was no real use to going back to lie down now. Instead, she began to wonder about the room, attempting to look for a way out. She took off the gauntlet part of her armor on her left hand, holding it and her scythe in her right, and began to run her hand along the walls, looking for obvious weak points. She would analyze the room until either Pansa was tired and needed her to keep watch, or until the others woke up and we're ready to move on. Already she was forming several solutions on how to get the group out of this temple.
Raiquen Nguyen
Raiquen got the feeling that he was causing more problems than he was solving. He could only watch in horror as the new scene unfolded, blood splattering everywhere. That little boy, who was not much older than Raiquen was in appearance, looked like Thomas, but so did the man who took an arrow through his neck. The whole thing didn't make sense to him. Why would Thomas shoot these people? Judging by his reaction, he certainly didn't want to. Maybe it had something to do with his past. "I already told you why I'm here, though I seem to be failing at my job," Raiquen commented. "You seem quite insane at this point." He was terrible at comforting others, so he could only watch as Thomas fell to the floor. The room began to shift again. As it settled on the new scene, however, Raiquen's heart skipped a beat. They were in a damp dungeon with walls made of grey blocks of stone. Cells lined the hallway, and a room could be seen farther down filled with lab equipment. "No... No no no!" His previous calm attitude disappeared. "That's not possible! I'm an outsider! It shouldn't be able to draw from my mind!" He stood hurriedly and backed up, wings drawn around himself for protection. Glancing into a nearby cell, however, he quickly realized that the appearance of this scene was just an unfortunate coincidence. Thomas lay on a bed in the cell, and a stereotypical looking scientist stood over him. The scientist would probably say something to him to attempt to trick him into thinking that this was reality, but Thomas was unlikely to fall for it. Calming down, Raiquen sat against the wall of the hallway. He reminded himself again that this was just an illusion.
Thomas blinked. This was new. He had never seen this room before. Sure, he had been physically tortured before, but a scientist? You'd think the Mage would come up with something more original. It was weird too, it was like the scientist was injecting chemicals into his body. It didn't really do anything, since this wasn't reality, but it was... Awkward. It was as if it wasn't his own nightmares... Thomas turned to look at Raiquen. Thomas frowned, he wasn't there! Thomas looked around, before finally finding him in the shadows in a different place. Weird... Thomas finally noticed that the scientist was talking to him. "Ah yes, my dear boy. Your body will be the key to my greatness, I will learn all the secrets in the world." As the scientist rambled on, his face, his body, his demeanor changed. His face was unrecognizable, and Thomas was no longer shackled on the bed. What was going on? Thomas looked to where Raiquen was, but he wasn't there anymore. What was going on?
@Creekstar
(I'm going with the idea that the Mage finally took notice of Raiquen's presence, and is adding him into the illusion as well. I believe it's time for you to have a multi paragraph rant.)
Raiquen Nguyen
Raiquen looked up slowly as he heard the scientist's tone changing. It was becoming too recognizable. His purple eyes widened and glowed brighter, and he began to shiver. It couldn't be that the illusion was adapting to his presence, could it? The creaking sound of a metal cell door swinging open could be heard, threatening to trigger a barrage of memories. He shut his eyes tight. Raiquen didn't want to see what he thought would appear. As he always had, however, he opened them again. In the past, there had always been that chance that it was someone else, but the brief hope was, as usual, followed by disappointment. He became aware that he was now in a cell himself.
Heaps of straw covered the floor, clumped in some places, and a platform acting as a sleeping place hung out from the wall in one corner. On the platform sat a poorly made straw doll, stained from the variety of liquids that fell upon it. The front wall of the cell was comprised of vertical metal bars and an iron door, which was now open. In the open doorway stood a tall man in a dirtied lab coat stained with blood splatters. A pair of rectangular glasses sat upon his nose; cold, grey eyes looked out from behind them. The man's hair was short and brown. "Good. You're already up. Time to head to the lab," the scientist told Raiquen. The words rang in his head; words he had heard so often.
"This... This is a dream! It's not real... It's not real!" Raiquen exclaimed, retreating against the stone wall on the back side of the cell. The scientist approached slowly, one hand held out in a deceivingly welcoming gesture. He was aiming to grab Raiquen's hand and lead him to the room with the equipment. "N-no! I won't go with you today! I won't!" This was exactly what he had said every day, though, and it had never helped. His voice was almost squeaky in pitch now. "Help!" He called out in a panic, hoping Thomas was in earshot. "Please, you have to help me!"
