Fantasy The Lost Treasure of Creation

Thomas Nightingale

Thomas became even more worried. If Kokoro didn't even remember it being built, that was a problem. The possibility of someone already being became even greater. At Kokoro's warning, his highly trained senses smelled... Dead bodies? Crouching next to Kokoro, he looked at her in worry, before shooting a manipulates fire ball ahead to light up the path. Dead bodies, but wait. Something was amiss... They were... Moving? Thomas scrambled backwards to create room. Thankfully, he could kind of control fire, which would be a great help against these... Zombies, Dragurs, whatever you wanted to call them. Looking back, he feared that his friends would get hurt. Snorting in his mind, Thomas thought 'friends... Who would've thought?' He used the torch to grow the flames, and created a wave of fire. 'I have to protect them. I must do this'. Thomas exerted all the control he had over his light manipulation, and channeled his desire to protect his friends into it. He created a wall of flames, stronger than anything he's ever done before. Thomas closed his eyes as he collapsed to the floor in exhaustion. He smiled, and lay there contently, with the knowledge his friends were safe.

❀❀❀ Unila Crys-Feathri ❀❀❀

As the mural came into view, appearing as if it was drawn in blood, Unila couldn't help but take a few steps back, barely realizing the miner was there. Death scenes were drawn with detail, accompanied with a title. There were at least a hundred different ones, all appearing with instructions written in a runic language. Right at the top of the mural, was the title, 'Ways to kill'. Her eyes glanced over each one, gradually becoming terrified. Some pictures included drowning, electrocution, burning, even a clear picture of cannibalism was visible. Finally, she broke free from the trance of attempting to view everything, and rushed over to Geir, breaking formation in fear. She hid behind him, eyes clenched in an attempt to take it all in, despite her fear.

Suddenly, another presence filled her mind. This one was less horrific, but still one to be greatly feared in her mind. Flashbacks of images began to assault her, ones of death, blood, arrogance, with demons, adorned with fangs and fur, brutally murdering everyone. Realizing where the source came from, she realized it was a woman, obviously royalty by her clothes and demeanor. Taking a nervous gulp, a sudden resolution hit her. It wasn't right to judge by race. It's not like she was the cause of her sorrow. Being able to at least be able to stand clearly in front of her fears, was the first step. Nervously, she stood beside Geir, unknowingly clutching his hand for support.

Unila wasn't particularly paying attention to the scene before her, more occupied with facing her fears. Until she noticed that Geir's hand was strangely cold. She jumped back just in time, as an icicle split the pair apart. Noticing that the dark elf prince and Geir were stuck in an icy prison, she started to notice the situation. As the ice shattered in front of her, her eyes sparkled similarly in reflection. She watched silently as Mavndrus began to walk away from the group, along with Leandor. She had grown accustomed to them, the short while they had been together, and almost felt like reaching out for them, but rejected the thought. Turning back to the conversation, still not saying a word, she couldn't help but blush a light pink at the concubine comment. In
embarrassment, she pulled down the shirt Geir gave her a little lower, her hands clenched around the soft fabric. At Geir's playful remark, Unila burst out in laughter. Practically forgetting where she was, remembering the carefree attitude she used to always have.

As she recovered, most likely attracting a few stares, she smiled broadly at Geir, thankful for the revival. In a show of affection, she once again jumped onto his back, almost toppling him over. She was in ignorance, not realizing the scenario she had just created for Geir. Her clothes were thin, and certain areas were felt much easier now that her clothes were almost non-existent. Unknowingly, she had forgotten her fears, which were currently being brushed aside. But sadly, they were threatening to return soon.

Ihra blinked up at Gier blankly beforehand she finally caught on to his words. Her whole face instantly turned red as purple electricity shifted nervously under her hood.

"I- uh, well, I... I'm... appreciate the offer, but I have no need for- I'm a v- well, it just, I cannot pay you for such services," Ihra stammered, though she didn't move when he leaned closer. She was not one to flinch away. "I can, if- uh, if you are unsatisfied, p-pay your debt to the G-Guardian s-so that you could, um, be free to p-practice a-as you please. I, um-"

"P-princess, he-he is j-joking with y-you," Leh said through his loud, jovial laughter. He was doubled over, holding his stomach as he tried to calm down. The nervous electricity turned angry at his laughter, but it calmed as she too gave a light laugh.

"Oh, why did you not tell me so? I love jokes... But how is that funny? Pretending to be concubines? I do not understand..."

"That is what is so funny!" Leh said, finally managing to quell his laughter and straighten up. However, he soon fell to the ground as Ihra hit his arm in irritation with more force than she thought she had given.

As he stood, his eyes met Ila's and he quickly shortened the distance between them.

"Oh my lady, you seem injured and ill-dressed. I would gladly offer to you our medical supplies and spare clothing," Leh said smoothly to the woman on Bier's back, bowing slightly at the waist.

"Leh, stop flirting," Ihra said, a string of purple electricity reaching out to give him a minor shock on the neck.

"Ow!" Leh exclaimed, a hand over the spot. "I am not flirting. I am merely offering my assistance. It appears they had more trouble traveling through than we did." He turned back to Ila and gave her his trademark grin. "My apologies if it appeared that I was flirting. It is apparent that you and the ice dragon are together and I do not wish to impose. I truly hate to see a such a beautiful woman left in such defenseless dress."

Arya looked around her. Everything was...dark. She seemed to be floating, though...swimming? Her entire body was submerged under water. Where was this place? The faint glow of color caught the girl's attention. It looked like her own aura -- beautiful shades of blue that faded out into purple, and that fading out into a much less vibrant, much darker variety of muddled colors that tainted her aura. Her past had brought a darkness to her aura a long time ago; Arya was aware that she had more darkness in her than many others did. She was not expecting, however, to see that darkness start to separate itself from the light in front of her. Another version of her seemed to step out of the light, all of the darkness in her aura swirling around it.

"Why have you come here?" it voiced.

Arya was confused. Was it talking to her? No, there was something else here...Arya wondered if her own shadow was only in her mind, as she was seeing now, or if she were just getting a glimpse at what was happening in the outside world. Was her shadow going to leave her? The girl watched and waited, floating in the pool of water that was the overwhelming emotions she often felt, but hardly ever showed.

It was Lyla's shadow who spoke and it was surprisingly sweet sounding. "I've come to set her free." It stated simply walking towards the tainted aura. "She needs to be set free to survive." It pleaded as though worried for the very survival of Arya.

No! Don't leave! Arya tried to shout, but no words would come out. The water emotions around her seemed to twist in worry and anger at the intruder's suggestion, as the water often did in life when Arya kept her emotions suppressed, but her feelings did not seem to reach the shadow version of herself.

"Set her free?" the shadow almost seemed amused. "I am a part of her, she created me. You want me, the consequences of her actions, to leave her?" it seemed to stop to think, as if considering the idea.

The shadow nodded "yes, but you see you don't have to be a part of her. In turn you both would be set free. You could be your own entity." She stated and walked closer. In a low whisper "do you really think she wants to be burdened with you if given the choice? The consequences of her actions always dragging her down?"

Lyla's shadow stepped back letting that last statement sink in. "In her freedom you have yet to gain much more than she has in store for you. I can simply leave when I wish but you see Lyla has accepted me and so we exist together, unlike so many others who are suppressed, caged even." She explained.

Eri Zabelan
As both Kokoro and Thomas tensed up, Eri relaxed. These young beings should be able to handle, if it gets too out of hand, she thought, I will jump in. When the wall of flames leaped up from almost no where at all, the only reaction pulled from her was a small eyebrow raise. This young boy is stronger than he looks. Eri's lips upturned into a smile, but it left slowly when Thomas collapsed. "Oh dear. Seems like he strained himself too much." She chidded with a sigh. Slowly making her way to the limp boy, her staff making small taps on the ground. Kneeling before the boy her eyes narrowed. "Its all about showing off these days." She muttered, placing a hand to his head. He was heated, but not hot enough to be worried. Eri sighed once again, this adventure was becoming slightly boring. She didn't seem to be of any use. @Psychotic Dreams @Rin Nyx @Creekstar

Looks like I avoided getting hit...so far, Geir realized with some relief, laughing at Irha's reaction to his joke. So, the girl really had believed them to be concubines. Teasing her could be fun. Though he was still laughing uncontrollably at his joke, the feeling of Unila jumping onto his back distracted him, nearly knocking him over. That feels...nice, he thought, his face turning red at the feeling of the girl's body on his back. The fabric of his shirt was a lot thinner than the fabric of the dress that she had been wearing, and his mind immediately turned to dirty thoughts. Leh's words began to snap him out of his thoughts, however. He was again offering Unila clothes, which, as much as Geir liked the idea of the girl in only his shirt (that thought again gave rise to other dirty images), it wasn't very practical for her to explore the mines like that. The man's last comment, however, cause Geir's already redish face to turn even more red.

"Oh, we-we're not, uh..." he trailed off, actually unsure of how to react to that. Unila and he weren't together, but he could see how the man would think that. He did think that Unila was pretty, but Geir doubted that the girl realized that he thought of her that way. He was also a guy, of course, and if any pretty girl were pressing themselves up against him the way Ila was, he'd probably be thinking similar thoughts. But, that didn't mean he didn't feel a particular attraction to Ila. He didn't even know how she felt about him, though. It was strange for a simple comment to catch him so off guard, but he hadn't even realized how he thought of Ila until the man had said something, and now he was confused and lost in thought. He briefly wondered how Ila would react to the comment.

Pansa shook his head as held Ireth.

"You didn't fail him. Im sure he is proud of you. Take this. It will shield you from her trickery."

Pansa handed her a jade dagger that had a purple cloth grip. It glowed an etheral white in the enkidu's hand. When it was close to Ireth, it glowed bright white. The darkness in the room evaporated as Pansa handed the dagger over to the elven girl.

"My clan guarded this dagger from the world for millennia. I wasn't told why i needed it but was simply told someone whol cross my path who could truly harness its potential. That's you Ireth. Use it to defeat Lyla and erase the darkness in your heart."

Pansa's eyes narrowed as he focused on the unconscious Keir and Arya. That shadowmancer or whatever dark art she was using was up to no good. He wouldn't let her continue her manipulation. He climbed the ceiling where the last bits of darkness clung to and mad his way slowly above Lyla dropped a powder bomb on her.

"Breathe deeply because you arent going anywhere with that shadow."

Arya's shadow thought for some time. "Acceptance...yes, I believe she has shown me that. She knows I am a part of her, and she is a part of me," it began, before fading back into thought. After a few more moments, it spoke up again. "I could become my own entity...but at what cost? What is it that you gain by coming here? Why should I believe what you say?" it inquired, adding, "You are likely to hurt her, just as her companions are likely to betray her. I have seen it time and time again, and I have protected her time and time again. Entire towns have fallen at my hand. So tell me, why do you wish me to emerge now, when it will likely be your doom?" the shadow raised an eyebrow, waiting for a response.

❀❀❀ Unila Crys-Feathri ❀❀❀

Together? What did he mean by together? Currently we are all 'together' in one area? Is that what he meant? Deciding to simply ask him outright, she asked "What do you mean by 'together'? What do you mean by imposing? You're all welcome to join our group, if that is what you meant." Her mind was filled with even more confusion, as the usually calm Geir turned even redder than before, and stammered with his words. In an effort to see his face better, Unila climbed up a little higher on his back, and peeked over his shoulder playfully. "Gear~? Are you okay?"

As she remembered Leh's earlier question, she contemplated a moment before replying
"If it's not too much trouble, I would be grateful to have my injuries healed and new clothes." For the other's injuries, she would be glad to heal them, paying mind to her energy this time. A little pleased smile grew on her face, she was glad that the situation had calmed momentarily, which was usually filled with drama. Accidentally, she made eye contact with the princess of a dragon tribe, and looked away hurriedly. For some reason, she had an aura around her, similar to a wolf's. It terrified her, and she wanted to prevent the dark memories from taking over her mind again. Wait...dragon-tribe..?...Wolf aura? Once again, Unila's fragile mind was thrown into destruction once again. In order to prevent the confusion, she bluntly asked "Why do you have an aura of a wolf?" A sweet smile was etched onto her face, as she turned to face Irha, however, it could be interpreted as a mocking, all-knowing smile.

"Well, it just appears to me that you and Gier are a couple of lovers. No surprise as you are quite the beautiful young lady," Leh replied, before removing the pack from his back at her acceptance of new clothes. He dug through it and pulled out a spare set of armor. Obviously made for Irha, it was small, and colored with black and purple. He held it out to her, but as her last words reached his ears, his eyes widened and he dropped the armor and the pack onto the ground.

"I AM A DRAGON!!!" Ihra screamed in anger, like a howl of a wolf. Purple electricity lashed out around her like whips, but was luckily not long enough to hit anyone just yet.

The petite girl began to unsheath her sword and storm forward, but in an instant, Leh had scooped her up under her armpits. He held the girl out in front of him as she wiggled and fought in his grip to be released. Electricity tickled his body and a pained expression appeared on the bodyguard 's face, but he held on tight.

"Apologize, please, Miss Ila. Say that you were mistaken. Say she is a dragon," Leh begged in a pitiful moment quite rare for him.

"Release me, Leh! Release me this instant!" Ihra screamed in a very unladylike manner as she thrashed in his arms.

Ah, but she is pretty naive when it comes to these things, isn't she? Geir thought as he took a moment to regain his composure. Ila's reaction had confirmed for him that she didn't think much of him, at least not yet. Oh well, it didn't make the feeling of her on his back any less pleasant, though it was rather distracting, as she leaned forward to look at him better. Geir's face returned to it's normal color, his composure regained, and he gave Unila a reassuring smile. This time he did not lose his composure at Leh's blunt reply, simply giving a shrug and replying, "We're not."

Geir was a little surprised at Unila's last question, and the bluntness in which she asked it. Immediately after the words left the girl's mouth, Irha began yelling and causing electricity to strike out randomly, while Leh attempted to hold her back. Geir moved into action quickly, as well, dropping down on his knees so that Unila's feet would reach the ground, setting his swords on the ground, and getting Unila to let go so that she wasn't on his back. Then, leaving his swords on the ground, Geir rose to his feet and took a quick step towards the raging Irha and the poor Leh attempting to hold her back, the fire dragon's gold eyes glowing fiercely as they reflected the purplish light of the electricity. This put him directly in between the other dragon and Unila in a protective, but not overly threatening stance, while teal flames rose around and to the sides of him, creating a wall of fire in between the two. Sure, fire wouldn't block electricity, but it would at least keep Irha from physically reaching Unila if she escaped Leh's grasp, and it would make it harder for the girl to actually aim for a long ranged attack. Preparing himself to get electrocuted, Geir continued walking forward, closing the gap between him and Irha and getting rather uncomfortably close, attempting to force her attention to him (and hoping that the fact that he didn't have his swords (or shirt) with him would help him get through without getting electrocuted too much). "Do not threaten my allies. Pretty or not, I will take you down to protect them. Ila meant nothing by her question, dragon princess," He hissed, his tone deep with his dragonish vocals. His last words were emphasized to reassure Irha that they viewed her as a dragon, and to remind the girl that she was nobility, and Geir already had issues when it came to nobles.

Kokoro put her hand up to her nose, gagging at the smell of burning, decayed flesh. Her sensitive nose could hardly handle the scent, and it was all she could do to keep from throwing up. At least the draugrs were taken care of at the moment, but Thomas had collapsed. She was relieved when Eri went to check on him, as she was busy attempting to hold her composure. "I'll c--" she paused hand moving to cover her mouth and nose more for a moment until her stomach settled down a little. "I'll carry him, if you could lead, Eri?" she requested, looking rather sick. She doubted that she could be very aware of traps in her state at the moment, and there was no way that Raiquen and Thomas could lead right now. She trusted that the dragon could handle being at the front, at least for the time being. They just had to get far enough away from the smell of burning decay. As Kokoro changed into her tiger form, she added, "I trust you," the words coming out with a bit of a growl, as her tiger vocals strained. It was difficult for her to speak in her tiger form, though it was possible. Moving over to Thomas, the tiger lied down next to him and nudged him, indicating that he should try to climb onto her back.

Thomas groggily climbed onto Kokoro's back. Thankfully, he could absorb the remaining flames to convert back into light energy. That would definitely help fix him up. He leaned over to the dying flames, and siphoned them into his body. Thomas leaned back, and whispered 'Thanks'. Thomas knew that Kokoro would be able to hear him in her tiger form. Thomas smiled at Raiquen and Eri, and pulled out his bow and nocked an arrow just in case. He leaned back and covered the groups back. He refused to be useless, even if he couldn't move on his own.

Ireth looked at him and took the dagger. She was surprised at its bright glow and then turned towards Lyla. "I don't want to kill you" she told the dark elf.

"You should have thought about that when you supposedly stabbed me years ago." Lyla whispered walking towards her and gasped as a smoke bomb dropped on her. She coughed and pulled back away from the two and pulled another shadow up to protect her while she tried to get away from the smoke.

Ireth took this chance and darted towards her with the jade dagger. She pierced the shadow easily and made her way to Lyla who blocked her with her armor on her arm and shoved her back. Ireth moved back and began to circle her. She could see the fear now rising on Lyla's face.

@Kuro Kitsune

Lyla's shadow looked at Arya's as it thought out loud. "I simply gain satisfaction of seeing your freedom. Why would we attack her? Unless she attacks first." It stated and then moved closer "tell me why should it be our doom when we can be your allies?" She asked proposing that they would ally together. "We understand betrayal... That elf with you isn't so innocent she has been tainted by the dark and all she does is deny it and claim she had no choice. We would have died if it weren't for our master." The shadow explained "she would betray you just the same." It finished.

The shadow winced and looked back seeing Lyla coughing it knew it had to hurry. "What say you?" She asked turning back to Arya pleadingly.

Pansa bowed out of the fight, satisfied Ireth had something to help her out against Lyla. Quickly made his way over to Keir who was incapacitated. He pulled Keir into the shadows and began his work.

Pansa entered into his human form again. He needed nimble fingers to heal Keir back up to excellent health. He had lots of techniques up his sleeve but bisecting his patient with a talon would be unhelpful in his endeavor to heal Keir.

Pulling out a bag of dried herbs, a rack of bottled essenses, and a pack of powders, bandages and various other helpful things Pansa began healing his injured ally. Striking various pressure points around each enjury to stop blood flow, he slowly mixed up the salve he needed. He applied it liberally on each area to stave off infection and speed up healing. Wrapping each area separately, he drew incantations to accelerate the healing and replenish his energy.

'Here goes nothing.'

Pansa began chanting in a low hum to enchant the runes.

'Success and they said i needed to attend healing school. What did they know.'

He looked at the almost mummy like Keir abd sweatdropped.

'Well on the bright side he's healing up nicely.'

Arya Tinuviel / Arya's Shadow

Location: Temple Ruins/In Arya's head

With: Lyla's Shadow, Ireth, Keir, Pansa, Lyla, Arya

Arya's shadow thought for a few moments longer, before finally coming to a decision. "My only goal is self-preservation. I will dispatch of any and all threats. If you stay out of my way and leave us be, I will not harm you. Make one move against her, and you will die."

With those words, Arya's shadow began to form in the real world. Emerging next to the unconscious Arya and taking on her form, the shadow picked up the scythe from the ground. With that, the shadow stood, turning her gaze first towards Pansa, who was mummifying Keir in the shadows, then towards Ireth, who was fighting with Lyla. Threats. All of them. These were people whom Arya trusted, these were people whom the girl would lay her life on the line for...whom she had laid her life on the line for, in the case of Keir. These were people who threatened the girl's very sense of self-preservation, and these were the people who were most likely to stab her in the back when they realized just what she was. Deep down, Arya wanted to live. She would always have that need, that primal desire. And her shadow had emerged in response to that desire. "I will protect...Myself," the shadow uttered, the blood that had been pooled under and around Arya now rising up at the shadow's call. "Blood mist," she muttered, the bloody liquid dispersing into the air like a fine, red mist and moving throughout the room, obscuring vision more on top of whatever shadows remained. The shadow began to walk forward, as if waiting to see who would respond first.

Keir Sullivan

Keir returned to consciousness groggily. The multiple cuts and scrapes that covered his body after the shadow incident were healing. Pansa's efforts to heal him had also lowered his fever a lot, though not completely, and he was not delirious anymore. Glancing around in confusion, he realized that bandages were wrapped around him in multiple locations, including on his arms; his jacket was on the ground next to him. The smell of herbs was coming from the bandages and there were a few incantations drawn on them. That was... interesting. He decided that it was just Pansa's method of healing. Suddenly, a red mist covered the room. "Whoa! What's going on? What did I miss?" Keir asked, confused. Not too far away, he could make out a silhouette carrying a large scythe. Was this red mist the doing of Arya? It was debilitating to the whole group, though, not just the enemy.

Suddenly, a realization struck Keir. This could be the doing of Arya's shadow. After all, he had no idea if anyone else's shadow had been released while he was out. If that was true, and this was Arya's shadow, who knew what it could be capable of? His was, without a doubt, more powerful than him, and if the same held true for hers, it would be a problem. However, he thought it might have to do with their shadow's personality; he secretly hoped that hers would be less destructive than his, though he doubted it. Taking a step towards the person, he said, a little shakily, "...Arya?"

Ireth noticed the mist and turned to see Arya unconscious on the ground and Arya holding the scythe. "What did you do Lyla?" Ireth growled trying to take a jab at her.

"I would say I did the same to her as I did with Kier but her shadow is far different than his. So she simply chose to separate... To protect herself probably from traitors like you." Lyla dodged the attack and side swiped knocking Ireth to the ground before answering.

Ireth gasped as she felt herself hit the ground but she held onto the dagger. "Lyla, you're the traitor..." She whispered. She heard Kier and shook her head "kier stay away from her!" She yelled.

As the light from her dagger shown brightly Ireth turned her attention to the blob that swam back towards its owner,Lyla. In one quick motion without warning Ireth rolled towards it and stabbed the shadow. There was a loud cry and hiss from the shadow as the blob began to separate.

Lyla screamed as Ireth struck her shadow. "What did you do?!" She cried practically groping for the blob trying to keep it together. "Please no.... No... No..." She whispered as the blob just fell through her hands. Enraged she stood up and pulled out her shard dagger and dove down. The two struggled before Lyla backed off standing back up and getting back into position. Lyla decided it would be best to leave for now and work in the shadows. She tried to make her way through the crack. She cried feeling a sharp pain in her back. She looked down to see the glowing white blade pierce through. Black tears fell down the dark elf's cheek.

Ireth saw her attempt escape and ran forward stabbing her. She held her as Lyla stumbled back gasping. "I'm so sorry my friend." Ireth whispered as she gently dropped with her to the ground. She held her and would continue to hold her until Lyla would draw her last breath. She began to hum an old elven song that the two sung when they were children.

'Master, I've failed. Once again the wretched elf has defeated me. She had the jade dagger...she killed my shadow... Help me Master' Lyla thought in hopes he would hear her call and come to her aid.

@Creekstar @Rin Nyx

Pansa's eyes hardened as Shadow Arya emerged, her darker side. She was an unknown but he would consider her hostile until proven otherwise. His eyes darted back to Keir and sweatdropped. It wasn't too bad right?

"Yeah sorry I never took wound dressing class. Sorry."

His eyes and ears brought his attention on Ireth who had slain Lyla. Hopefully she was finally down for the count. Ireth possessed the only relic for fighting on pair with shadow doppelgangers.

"Ireth, that dagger is your only chance against shadow Arya. Distract it while I heal up Arya. The only chance we have is to have Arya pull the shadow into her mind. I have no clue what Keir did with his shadow but it worked."

Pansa started tossing out flash bombs to put up a wall between the shadow Arya and him. He hoped it would insight an attack so he could slip by with a substitution and began to heal Arya.

Pansa shut his eyes again, once again hopping into the darkness. He hoped he could get past the dark version of Arya. She was a high level threat. He didn't know what was on the shadow creature's mind but he hoped it let him heal Arya. He checked his supplies and nodded to himself. He had thankfully brought a lot of supplies.

He focused in on Arya's faint heartbeat. One by one, everything in the room but Arya's heartbeat faded. Having found her he wondered what was the best approach to getting to her.

The shadow tilted its head to the side as it listened to everything going on around it. With a wave of the shadow's hand, some of the blood around Arya condensed, floating around her and stabbing out into sharp spikes at the threat of anything coming near. The shadow covered its eyes in response to the flash bombs, a look of annoyance appearing on its face -- a strange expression on the face of the girl who normally wore only neutral expressions, though it was difficult to see the expression through the red mist. "I will not let her be surrounded by those who will betray her," the shadow growled, looking up with a fierce expression on its face. Various areas of the red mist began to draw together, forming blobs of blood that floated in the air alongside the mist. "Threats will be eliminated," the shadow stated coldly, before the blobs began to hurtle towards the others, becoming like sharp points ready to impale all that got in their way.

'I couldn't stop her...' Arya floated in the realms of her unconsciousness, on her back as her internalized emotions washed over her like waves, yet at the same time were always surrounding her, like feeling the force of the wave from deep under water. 'Can she even hear me?' she wondered, staring blankly into the darkness surrounding her. Through the darkness, images began to appear. Memories. Faces of people that Arya had known in the past. A rush of sadness swept over her, and briefly, it felt like tears were falling, though there were no tears under the ocean of her mind. Perhaps the feeling correlated with her real body, but perhaps not.

An image of a small village pulled up, her memory showing her a house near the ocean. People happy, laughing. Their laughter stopped and happy faces turned to disgust as they turned to look towards the girl in the memory. More images now. Happy faces, the feeling of happiness, and hope. People she had called friends flashed through her mind. Then, pain, sharp pain. Beatings, stabbings, cuts and bruises...the faces of her friends standing above her, sneering down at her as they caused her so much pain....

'That's right, they always betray me in the end...'

The images changed. Back to the village. It's night. There's fire...Her parents, oh god....Sadness, anger boiling under the surface, a mob surrounds her, and there's fire...and pain. So much pain. They're killing her, like they did her parents...Water rushes over the scene. The ocean. It rose up, coming down in a crushing tsunami upon the small village...desolation. She's alive, but the village...skeletons of houses marked where buildings used to stand, debris littered the ground for miles. There are no survivors, save the lone girl standing among the wreckage, bloodied and bleeding from wounds not caused by the ocean waves.

'They will hurt me, just like the others...' The feeling of tears again. Where was that coming from? Arya decided to pay it no mind, deciding instead to continue floating here, in her mind. Her shadow would protect her. Her shadow was her, and she always protected herself in the end, didn't she?

"You've gotten yourself into quite the mess, haven't you?" a voice laughed in Lyla's mind. "You know I am far away now, and I'm having so much fun..." the voice trailed off, then continued, "...but, I suppose it would be wasteful for you to die here. So much talent still left unharnessed..."

A quiet, clacking sound was just barely audible in the room, coming from the crack in the wall that Lyla had attempted to escape through. Once Ireth focused her attention on the shadow Arya, which she would have to do shortly as blobs of blood hurtled towards the girl, then Lyla would be snatched up, whisked away from the room, and from the temple itself.

"Whoa! Hey!" Keir exclaimed, dropping to the ground out of the bloody projectiles' way as he saw them fly out of the red mist. Betray her? Threats? He thought in bewilderment. This shadow was vastly different from his; it seemed to only want to protect Arya, while his was probably more than willing to watch him die. She must have already accepted hers. "Why would I betray her?" He pleaded from his place on the floor. "She's the only reason I wasn't killed by my shadow. Er... No offense. Besides, how could I harm her even if I wanted to? I'm pathetically weak compared to her; she could slice me into bloody little pieces with ease." Keir's words were much louder than they needed to be for the shadow to hear, as he was trying to get through to Arya herself. If she truly accepted her shadow, then that meant she probably thought the same thing as it, so he would have to convince her that he was her friend.

Keir sat up, but decided not to attack. He had no idea where his knife was, anyways. There was always that spike he had gotten from the monster at the beginning of their exploration, but he would save it as a last resort. He wanted the shadow, and by extension Arya, to know that he didn't want to harm them. If the shadow had been like his, he would have attacked without hesitation. However, since it thought it was protected Arya, fighting it would make him the enemy. Keir stood up slowly and backed away to lean against a pillar; he was determined to take a passive approach to this fight, even though it might get him hurt. He refused to prove the shadow's suspicion that he would betray Arya right.
