Fantasy War of the Magi [Open]

OOC
Here
Kodoku ended the current training cycle, no longer spending energy to grow the soul, only consuming it until it was gone then said, "I had no introduction, or more accurately, I was introduced when the headmistress forcibly abducted me, and addressed me by name, because the dozens of eyes on her weren't enough. Knowing that there was even one eye not on her would have killed her apparently, so I guess we know her weakness."

It rolled its eye at that last clause, dismissing the woman as prima donna unworthy of her position, like most of the other instructors it saw. It continued, "I saw no in their preening and ego trips, so I stayed out of it. No amount of praise and adulation will change what I can and cannot do, and seeing how wholly unfulfilled they must be if they needed to kidnap me in hopes that one more eye on them would be enough to give them the satisfaction they were looking for, I don't think being on the stage would have been any more fulfilling for me. If she was so interested in the attention, and thought it was important, she could have retaken the stage to show off what she thought I could do. I didn't need to be used as an aid to stroke their egos further by taking the stage so that they could feel important by comparison."

It sighed realizing it had started ranting on the less important part of the statement, "But I digress. I would indeed find your company appealing, and the training room will likely be here later. The opportunity to enjoy you might not be. You can shapeshift. That must expose you to all sorts of new experiences. Did you have an idea in mind for where, or what, to explore? What sort of things do you enjoy?"

Kodoku's interest in Wisp was not selfless. The questions to learn more about a person were useful because you could start to learn what levers to pull to get what reactions, but also, shapeshifters could be fun from a more practical point of view. Exploring form, function, and sensation together would be an exploration and who knew what sort of interesting creatures Wisp could be for playing with or even just relaxing with? Nurturing a relationship with Wisp had value. Plus, as much as Kodoku was loathe to admit it, they weren't exactly drowning in friends here. The only thing it had successfully managed to talk to before Wisp had quickly begun ignoring it the moment Draco got involved in the conversation. Having someone who actively seemed to want interact was a good thing that it didn't want to discourage.

Wisp stared at Kodoku with a confused and slightly concerned expression as it ranted. Not sure what to say. After a long awkward silence Mimi spoke up. "Anyway! We like forests! We also like mysteries." Wisp looked around shyly before speaking. "Well, I like forests but I feel drawn to more... darker places. I was thinking we could explore and see what we find and end up at because I don't really have any ideas of where to go right now. As for my shapeshifting, it is really useful sometimes. It lets me get into tight spaces that I can't pass through normally. Sometimes it lets me pretend I'm normal and alive" he gave a small shy smile before transforming.

(No Phoenix, obviously)

"This is a normal...ish human, right?"
then suddenly someone else approached. He wasn't sure if he caught her name or not but her suggestion mildly interested him. "A library? Maybe it will have something there for me? I never been to a library before. I don't know what I'd be interested in but I suppose I wouldn't mind."

Faith knew all too well what was going on when the more human looking girl, Cherry, began to scream. It seemed to be a panic attack, which they themself had before. She never considered herself to be very good at comforting people, and indeed the sheer volume of her yelling was difficult for her to deal with, but the familiarity of the situation made her feel obligated to help.

They approached slowly, and weren't alone in doing so. Keesha had the same thing in mind, though less experience being the one in panic.

"You're not feeling too good, are you?" began Faith, getting close enough to Cherry first. "Is there anything I can do to help?"

"I'm here to help too," Keesha assured in soft tones, wondering if she looked intimidating. There were many circumstances in which taking a human form would make things easier. In her hometown, everyone knew her, but when she had to move to the city, the frightened looks she'd get made her self-conscious.

Kodoku looked to Rose as she was far more likely to be an expert on the subject than it, but said in a hesitant tone, "From what I can tell, yes. It look normal. Right number and position of features. It seems normal, though likely on the pretty side of normal so no common, for a human. I like it if that means anything to you."

It was always hard to judge these things. Death kisses didn't procreate like humans and many others did. They didn't need physical attractiveness to figure into some grand desire to exchange biological material with each other. Even if they did, what they would consider "pretty" in a mate would likely be vastly differant than what a human would. Kodoku was largely making its estimations of what a human would like based on its admittedly poor understanding of humans. There were definitely features it liked as there were features it like in many things, but that didn't mean anything when attempting to speak in more general terms.

It wasn't ignoring Rose's suggestion about the library, it simply didn't have a dog in that fight and so didn't have much to say on the topic. Kodoku was just sort of along for the ride, and likely was the ride now that it thought about it, to whichever destination they chose. The library worked as well as any other. It was in this for the company not the exploration. If it wanted souls, it now had a bottomless source for them. While sure, savoring the tastes of differant souls could be interesting, it wasn't a top priority and there was no reason Kodoku could not become a crafter of gourmet souls while also improving the power with which they were made. The need to taste test did suggest eating a lot of souls in such a process.

Rose

Rose listened to wisp then thought for a minute then suddenly he transformed she took a quick look at his new form

"Umm looks normal but umm the hair colour stands out a bit may want to change it if you plan to blend in:

"Library's may not seam like the most interesting place but I would definitely recommend visiting one anything your in a new and unfamiliar place before doing anything else you can find so much information about the local research interesting places to visit"

Kodoku found the idea of blending in and diminishing the lovely features that one had crafted for themselves for the humans as sort of demeaning. Wisp was awesome. Wisp's human form was cool and interesting, as far as humans went. Wisp should be proud of his form, not ashamed of it. They hugged Wisp with several of its tentacles and said, "Don't let the humans diminish you. Don't blend with them. Stand out and be all the kinds of awesome you are."

While it was doing that it opened a portal to Stuffy and pulled it through before opening another to their room and gently tossing Stuffy through for safe keeping. Stuffy let out an excited "Weee!" as it flew through the air knowing that the fall wouldn't hurt because even at terminal velocity in atmosphere the fall wouldn't be hard enough. It was just fun to be tossed around much as a kid enjoys being gently tossed into a ball or foam pit or the like. Kodoku simply didn't want Stuffy getting damaged or lost in their travels.

In her hometown, everyone knew her, but when she had to move to the city, the frightened looks she'd get made her self-conscious.
Cherry Rose

Cherry looked to Faith, then to Keesha. After a deep breath she shook her head. "Like I said, my time is reversing. Every second, every moment, I lose time. This demon in me, Astaroth, placed a cursed on me. I used to be a lot older, but with this curse, my body is getting weaker. Its.....its a long complicated story." Crimson looked over to Rose, Wisp and Kodoku before flying over. "A library? That seems the perfect place to lookup Cherry's Curse. Do you mind if we join you please?" Cherry looked to Crimson before looking back to Faith and Keesha.

Manta

Manta was wondering what to do when he heard mentions of a library, it could be fun but he wasn't sure. He watched the two dragons leave then he heard the library mentioned again. It seemed there were a few people going. It meant it was a great chance to make new friends. Manta flew over to Rose.

"Can I join? I could always add more knowledge to my species' shared knowledge pool. Plus, a trip with new friends sounds fun!"

Green

After all the teachers had left and they had permission to explore, Green decided to look around to ask somebody to come with him, when he saw a Dragon go off on her own. He couldn't remember her name but he decided to see where she was going. Spreading his wings and taking flight, Green followed her. When he arrived at the Rainbow Field, he looked around before stepping closer to her. "This place is nice! Why did you come here by yourself? Aren't you lonely?" He tilted his head as he took in the sights of the beautiful rainbow fields.

Wisp

If Wisp could blush, it'd definitely be blushing now. It returned to his normal form and covered its face with its hands when Kodoku hugged it "Oh....thank you! I haven't really heard anyone say that to me! Mimi laughed sweetly and spoke. "Careful, hug it too long and it'll never come out of hiding again. Wisp is super shy." It gave a silent nod when She finished speaking. Then, a weird Dragon thing came to ask to join them followed by another creature it didn't recognise.

Kodoku was surprised by the number of folks looking to come on this trip, but it could still do its best to make it work. It let go of Wisp and said, "Sorry. Wasn't trying to embarrass you. Just don't become lesser for the sake of the humans, there are folks who will love and like you for you."

Then it turned its attention to Crimson offering, "I don't know that it would fix the curse, but would seem to fix the problem if Cherry just let me eat Astaroth. If that's who's powering the curse it might even break it. That being said, it does me no harm to let you use the same portal to the library if you all want to do the research."

Then it turned its attention to Manta adding, "Same basic idea. Doesn't hurt me to let you use the portal or hang around with us if you want. I assume none of you all are going there to destroy the books, so presumably y'all aren't competing for the information in them. You all can study. You all can learn. Those who just wanna hang out can do that too."

Faith Westmore

Faith hadn't been paying attention to anyone but Cherry, but now word of a library made them excited.
"That's a a good idea, looking it up in the library. We should try to know everything we can before testing a risky theory like....Eating....Astaroth."
Faith also wondered if there would be any medical textbooks regarding the anatomy and physiology of Magi in there. Healing small wounds in centaurs was within her skill-set, but she knew more complex wounds and ailments would need better knowledge of how things worked. Their mind was also on the possibility that the way to un-curse Cherry could involve healing magic.

Keesha Sekhmet

"I can take notes on our research," Offered Keesha, "I've got pretty legible handwriting if that helps at all."

Seeing as many of them seemed to have decided the library was where they wanted to go, seemingly independent of whether other members of the group when Kodoku went ahead and opened a portal large enough for any and all of them to go to the heart of the library. There was no point in making them wait until the conversation was over if they wanted to go and get a head start on picking out books to read. Those that were just hanging out could similarly just choose which side of the portal they wanted to hang out on at any given moment until Kodoku decided to close it. It wasn't like it was ever going to get tired holding open a portal after eating all those souls, not to mention that as long as it was in that room it wasn't going to get tired at all. As many portals as it wanted, to as many locations as it wanted, all at the same time. Every human in existence could get their own portal within the corona of one of the many stars in the sky or the event horizon of a black hole. It could end the war the very moment if it wanted, but it didn't really care enough about the war to do it. if the professors were to be believed, they were similarly powerful (especially in that room) and could do the same thing on a whim. The prima donna headmistress claimed she could copy their magics and do them perfectly. If she actually cared about the war she could have ended it in an instant, but instead wanted to play to an audience and have the applause of the masses. They were as selfish and amoral as Kodoku was. Potentially more so in that they had gotten too used to their power and Kodoku was still new to this whole omnipotence thing.

"Well, guess there's not much to do now but hang out," said Cerralei, shrugging.

"Well, I'm coming with you to make sure you don't get into any more trouble," said Andalm.

Cerralei gave an exaggerated groan. "If I was this defenseless little thing you seem to think I am, I probably wouldn't even be alive right now!"

"You made an enemy before you even arrived at the school."

Cerralei pouted. "Y-yeah, well," she stammered half-heartedly, "you're s-stupid... or something."

"Did you have any ideas on who we might approach first?"

"Dunno. That Moon girl seemed like a heckin' badass though. One of my roommates too."

"Language."

"Yeah, you're right. 'Heckin'' was a bit much."

Andalm gave her "Are you serious?" look. Then his expression turned contemplative. "She did seem quite practical, particularly compared to you."

Cerralei smiled. "Ah, well, who needs practicality when you got my impeccable sense of style, am I right? Don't answer that."

Cerralei approached Moon with a smile on her face, Andalm close behind. "Hi, hi, hi! So, you're connected to the Moon. Heh. 'Moon's connected to the Moon.' Anyhoo, I have a special connection to the Moon too! Or at least, I broke a trampoline trying to talk to it. I was eleven, okay?"

"She's not much for first impressions," said Andalm.

Moon

Moon was wondering where to go, she had manifested Karma and talking to her when the siblings approached. "Karma, do you want to run around and see if we can find anything interesting?" Moon looked to Cerralei and gave her a weird look. "Are... you alright? Because that opening line was bad, it hurt me." She turned to Andalm and shrugged. "Eh, at least I know she likes talking to the moon, and I don't blame her." Karma stepped forward and spoke to the two of them. "One of you is roommates with us. I hope you can tolerate a messy room because when it comes to normal beast borns, they aren't exactly clean. When it come to me I am the beast." Moon laughed before speaking again. "Besides that, what do the two of you want to do? Explore, go to our rooms? Talk at the moon?" She said the last part with a joking attitude and a wide smile.

The Library

The Grand circler library. It was a huge five story building. The fifth story contained hundreds of books piled onto the floor, every single one of them were blank. On the main table on the first floor was a huge arcane lockbox. Anyone who had done their research or knew about arcane lockboxes, would know this was a Blood Pact Lockbox. It required blood to be opened.

On the chalkbox there was something written in what appeared to be blood.

DO NOT TRUST THE BOOK!

On the pedestal in front of the table was a magic glowing quill and a book. Under the book was a simple lable. Book of Life

Next to the quill was a small pot of pure ventablack ink.

Asdreum, Azetzal, Axol

Asdreum was a little concerned for Cherry after her introducion once the introducions where over he looked around for her seeing her talking to a good students as he walked over he couldn't help overheard Kodoku talking about eating Astaroth

"If you dare harm my husband I'll personally make sure that you suffer a thousands fold what his girl has endured before I end your miserable life"

Axol let out an exasperated sign
"Where supposed to be making friends helping Asdreum not agonizing anyway I'm sure there's other ways to solve your problem and I'll help you find it"

"Guess we're joining in on this trip to the library sound interesting at least"

Rose

"Umm to be clear I never suggested he diminished himself for the sake of Others just pointing out if he ever need to be discreet or hide more common and less colourful hair style would help"

Suddenly more and more people walked over interested in the library Rose couldn't help but smile tvis was one of the reasons she was so excited to come to school finally a group of people who are actually into studying and learning maybe she could find some friends maybe they could even help with her research though a few things the new members of the group said caught Roses hearing attention Mantas shared knowledge pool made her a little jealous imaging how much information that would hold but Cherry's curse was more interesting and more pressing concern curses hold a lot of power and she hadn't had much chance to research them

"I can help with your curse as well maybe we could use it energy to power something else redirecting some or all of its power to a secondary target should at least weaken the curse"

Rose walked though portal ahead of others and was amazed the size though less so of the messy state what drew her attention though was the Blood Pact Lockbox on the table she walked over to it and was about to use her own blood when she remembered her current state

Kodoku laughed derisively and said, "My life isn't miserable and you apparently follow the same philosophy as the teachers. All bluster. No bite. Expecting people to tremble in fear."

It considered which of the black holes to send the kid if this fight came to blows. A threat had technically been issued. They couldn't fault it for killing in self defense. Kodoku didn't need to issue threats. In fact, such was generally bad craft as warning your enemy was sort of stupid, especially in rocket tag. With a tone of mild curiosity it inquired, "Had you considered, rather than making empty threats, just asking me not to eat your husband? I'm not really that invested in the idea. There were indeed other solutions that you could have found and would help the goal of 'making friends'. I'm not even suggesting you want to be my friend, but you're making yourself look bad in front of the others. Even cold pragmatism should tell you that that's not the way to go."

Then, with a note of false concern it asked rhetorically, "You're really not good at this, are you?"

Saiotiga,Armaros

Now that he was free to go anywhere he was a little unsure of what to do exactly he didn't exactly know the are that's when he saw moon he was reminded of how much control she had over her wolf and thought maybe he could learn a thing or two from her as he walked over he overheard the tail end of the conversation

"Ain't they already talking to moon, anywhere I'm bored and looking for something to do so I guess I'll hang up with you guys"

Celest

Now that the students where free to roam Celest decided to fly around and see where she ended up after a short while of aimlessly flying around she saw Obsethine and green talking she decided she may as well say hi and decided to land next to them

"Hello Obsethine, green fancy meeting you here This place sure is beautiful isn't"

Nekelett

It seamed most of tge students where groping up thousome still seamed to be doing there own thing Nekelett walked over to Pozuzy

"Everyone has there own fears there own Demons and nightmares random monster may not compare to things they have already faced but if everyone know your out ti scare them they will be prepared for it and since they know you don't want to hurt them it will make it that much harder to successfully scaring maybe you should take a break for awhile let them lower there guard"

Edit

Asdreum, Azetzal, Axol

Asdreum forehead continued to glow as Azetzal began cuckling at the giant eyes Gaul

"I don't have any need to make friends nor do I have any internet in them I simply need to follow my contact and peacefully coexist with Asdreum and help him occasionally but you should know I don't make empty threats I make promises and issues warning"

Axol
"Come on guys no need to start killing each other when we've just met so let's maybe takw a step tone it down and bit before this all this talk of violence actually turns violent"

Asdreum
"Well if nothing else at least this group will be interesting"

"Pfft, yeah, I'm totally fine" said Cerralei, "why do you ask? And yep! It is bad!" She was oddly cheerful as she said this. "But one of the things about me is that I never care about the things that come out of my mouth. That's the only way to live, really. Sorry, didn't mean to hurt ya, but if you're hurt by people saying awkward things, then you should stay away from me at all costs! Just kidding, don't do that! Based on what I've seen so far, I'd rather have you as a friend than not!"

In response to the comment about the messy room, Cerralei said, "Ha! It's lucky Andalm isn't your roommate then! Nah, I don't care about a messy room."

In response to Moon asking what the two of them wanted to do, Cerralei said, "Hmm, I would suggest talking to the Moon, but I think it was telling me to stick to other things the last time I tried. So yeah, let's explore the rooms! What do you think, Andalm?"

"Between talking to the Moon and exploring the rooms?" said Andalm. "Yeah, exploring the rooms seems more productive."

As Saiotiga approached, Cerralei said, "Yeah! Join us, please! The more, the merrier!"

It rolled its eye and said, "You keep blustering. I keep existing. Here's a tip. If you have to tell everyone how powerful and dangerous you are, and the horrors you will visit upon them at some vague point in the future, you aren't that powerful. Those with real power don't need to issue those sorts of warnings because people know before they ever meet you. If you or your husband mattered at all, you wouldn't have to go on about how dangerous you are. Maybe take the advice of your other companions, and rather than continuing to bluster, you content yourself with the fact that I'm not going to eat your husband today. You've won. It's a victory in much the same way as breaking into your own garage is a successful siege, but it's what you've got. I made an offer. Wasn't overly invested in doing it. Not a whole lot of interest in me doing the thing from the other parties. If you had done nothing at all you would have gotten the same victory but without embarrassing yourself by having your saber rattling laughed off by someone as weak as me."

Obsethine blinked wearily at the green dragon-well, Green, who had asked her what felt like a stupid question. She flapped her wings a bit, not sure of what to reply yet.

"Well, I'd rather go anywhere alone. That's just how I am."

Hearing another voice, she turned around to see another being speaking to her. Obsethine let out a low growl, but then decided having more people around was better since most of the staff members mentioned something dangerous...

Just then, a cute little flower popped up out of nowhere with the biggest smile.

"Heya! I wasn't expecting anyone to come here! Welcome to my humble home friends! Why don't you join me, eat some berries, relax!" It hummed brightly, a radiance of friendliness surrounded him.

Agnes Juni

Golden Widow

  • The Beginning Of Time...

Agnes and Sage had flied around with slight confusion, before finding their way to where they now remembered where this "spooky" library was. Sage muttered something about being late, and more people and creature being there, so Agnes sniffed the air. There was no doubt others here, meaning she and her friend weren't along. Great.

But as expected, not many were quite in the library, giving at least some peace and quiet. But the huge library gave a some sort of eerie feeling. Weren't they supposed to be appealing of some sort? What's with this all now...

Without stopping, Sage just pranced right in the huge hollow filled with books. Agnes grunted, still waiting half way outside before giving in and following. Her mind was changing her opinion on libraries now-only because this one looked ancient enough to hold ghosts within it's pages. And if that wasn't enough, a chalkboard was already reading about not trusting A book or something. Was there really something in particular?

The inside of this place didn't even smell nice to her-just a musty odor. Agnes saw Sage about to just fly to the fifth floor, but she held his tail down when she caught sight of a pedestal with a book on it, a feather and ink carton nearby. Her eyes glowed with interest. Sage just blinked at her, wondering why she had stopped him. Even Ivory and Raven were quiet- who were silently beside the two of them.

OBSIDIAN OF SHADOWS
Obsethine was about to sit down and just drink in the nice sight when what looked like the most horrendous and creepiest thing appeared before the three of them. Obsethine for one didn't like what others called cute. Googly eyes and bright smiles were just...terrible in her sight. She was so close to just leaping in the air and breathing fire on it!

"What in the name of Dragonspine..."

That was officially her second time cursing in the lord of dragons, but oh well.

"Does anyone mind fancying me an explanation to what other creatures will be here, because I'm sure I will not be at this academy longer than I need to.

Cress Everdeen

Cress looked as everyone was discussing or leaving for where they wanted to go. She had no idea where she wanted to go either-just some random place like how the few of us also chose. But just flying somewhere might just lead her to the most scariest thing in the world. She inhaled a deep breath, relaxing herself, before taking flight once more.

It felt good flying, the only time she actually felt free once in a while. Being an ex-experiment always made her feel trapped and vulnerable, weak to her very bones. Learning at this academy would only help her fight for her dignity that she lost at such young age. To be able to protect herself from harm's way, communicate with others, but even with all this, will she run into danger so soon?

Cress caught sight of a field to where three distinguishable but unnamable creatures were. She didn't plan on going where everyone else wanted to go, but some company was nice. Besides, she was looking for something that really could tear her gaze away from anything. And then, in the midst of everything, she figured where she wanted to go.

There was a castle coming up, but also a tall and huge glass building-ish monument standing just a certain mile away. She would just be flying over, and exploring such interesting thing, right...? Nothing to be scared about...or anything?

As Cres flew over she would hear a sudden music boom out from the glass tower.

And enchanting lights beaming in the air.

iper sighed, not sure of what to do now. He didn't want to explore like in THAT way, but he supposed that's what's best for everyone now. The saying always goes, "You know your enemy better than yourself." Not many creatures understood Piper's mentions of quotes, but so long he did, he was fine.

He didn't necessarily want to fly-he didn't like it. Because whenever he did, his midnight black wing would be clear as day to everyone. He hated having to forcedly let everyone know he was a fallen angel, broken one of the angelic rules of the dynasty code. It wasn't...fair.

Without a look of hesitation, Piper whipped up a portal using his own magic. Sparks of light and small grey wisps floated around and in front of him as a wide vortex appeared in dazzling light. He winced at how noticeable it would be for anyone watching, so he quickly slid through. His mind was blank when he made the portal, with no certain destination in mind, so of course he appeared in a graveyard. Graveyard.

On occasions like these, similar things happened before. This location was reasonable since most angels were spoken as life. Devils are noted for death. Piper being a fallen angel could only be always thinking - even if he didn't want to - life or death.

Cress Everdeen

Hearing the enchanting music, excitement and curiosity swarmed her whole body and thoughts. What will be inside? How will it look? Will there be anything dangerous?

She pushed away that thought and sped her wings faster. She excelled in flying, only because the humans who tested on her forced her to fly for hours-which obviously made her own "limbs" fall off from the exhaustion. But that didn't mean she didn't enjoy it, I mean, which dragon didn't enjoy being airborne unless they were an earth dragon? Or more like dinosaurs in that sense...

Cress slowly neared the huge monument, landing before it. There was a nice entrance way, and she could've sworn the building had some luminescent glow to it. Everything around here felt way too magical to her liking, and now, standing before this building made her regret not coming with someone else.

With a few more breathing exercises, Cress walked inside the cool structure. Everything under her "pads" felt like ice, and mirrors were settled everywhere. Her own reflection sometime made her jump, because she never really took much attention to it. But now she did. And she was stuck. It all looked like a maze, and she for one wasn't all that great at those things. Well, she was good with puzzles, codes, astronomy, and trivias but...

As the music continued, she felt all sorts of fears kicking in, especially since she feels like she lost where the door was. Will she ever get out? Will someone find her, dead or alive? The music was also blaring, not comforting her anymore...

As Cress entered the mirror maze, she would see a few things. First, she'd see Green and Rose moving through the mirrors then catch a glimpse of Agnes and Sage in them, all heading in different directions. She'd hear Cerralei's voice call out somewhere. "Where is everybody? Can anybody here me?" Though, if Cress paid close enough attention, she'd be able to tell that there was something off about it, something not quite right, almost hollow sounding.
