Fantasy The Academy _Dropped _

Kai graciously accepted the book from Abraham's hands, firmly grasping it with both hands. He cheerfully murmured a 'thank you' and held it to his chest as he directed his attention to Mariel.

With an accepting chuckle his patted her head. "Do not worry, friend, all people have the ability to be scary, but they also have the ability to be nice or kind. You might be surprised to see that someone who is frightening has some kind qualities." He clicked his tounge. Kai knew he was saying it to comfort Mariel, but at the same time his was describing his experience meeting Gears just then.

Abraham was shocked to hear that he was scary. He was a little on the tall side and he was a teacher, but he was never mean to her or anything. He chuckled a little to hear this, "I'm not that scary, am I?" He was asking both Mariel and Kai.

"I always see the good in people. But the other angels did not like that. They said "gain experience. Not everyone is good!" And sent me here." She went over to Abraham. "Mr. Teacher you scare me and I fear you don't like me. Do you have any desires of eating me alive?", she asked with an honest but innocent tone.

@DankDoughnut @kayashirna

Kai couldn't help but to laugh. After hearing the question Mariel shot in Mr. Peter's direction he simply couldn't keep himself. "What kind of experience have you had in the past to need to ask that, love?" He cheerfully spoke, inching closer to the desk.

Then turning to face Abraham, he shook his head. "I don't believe you are scary at all, Mr. Peter. You seem like a charming and talented individual and a skillful teacher apart of this wonderful staff. Maybe I'll be lucky to have one of your classes in the future, sir." Kai went along with his normal line of complimenting. Uh oh, kind of sounded like he was kissing up. With a stutter he corrected himself. "T-then again, I don't know you very well. But at the same time its not expected for a student to know a teacher!" A nervous laugh escaped his lips.

When the sweet little Mariel asked him this in such a sincere tone, he burst out into a fit of laughter, he even almost fell off his chair. You could clearly see his pointy demon teeth when he laughed like this, which wasn't helping Mariel get any less scared of him. Once he composed himself, still holding his sides because they hurt so much, he answered her. "I've been told I can't eat any students here. Which is unfortunate because I really like the taste of angels." He said it in a casual tone, hoping it wouldn't scare her as much.

He stood up to get closer to Kai. "I'd be honored to have you in my class if you're always this flattery." He ruffled his hair and flashed a charming smile at him.

Kai laughed nervously and could feel himself tense as his hair was ruffled. "Thank you, but I don't know if being in your class is the best thing if you normally bully your students!" He spoke in a joking matter, taking a step toward the side to expose Mariel's position again. Then copying Mr. Peter's gesture, he placed his hand upon Mariel's head and ruffled her hair, smiling gentley.

"Don't be scared, you won't be hurt. He can't be that bad. It's in your head. Believe it or not your beloved brother, Gears, scared me until he started to mention his love of cooking! Then I saw the true person within him."

@Ami the breadling

He laughed again. "I was just joking, I only eat humans." He was being sincere this time. He hadn't realised that Kai was a human.

Mariel now spread her wings and stood in front of Abraham bravely. "You should not eat any living creature! They have feelings. They don't deserve that!", she said, again speaking from deep within her heart. @DankDoughnut

Kai let it fly past him for a moment, quickly jumping at the chance to hopefully make Mariel feel better. "You don't need to worry since you're an angel, right? There's nothing to be scared of since it's just humans like me he eats, right? You're okay!" Hi smile went crooked as he processed what just came out of his mouth.

With a jolt he shifted towards Mariel's direction, looking at Mr. Peter. "You.. You actually eat people?! H-humans?"

Abraham finally made the connection. Kai was human and he just said he ate humans. He fumled with his words to start with before he finally thought of something to say. "I-I...Umm...well, you see... I'm a demon and that means I eat souls. They're usually human ones. I'm not going to eat your soul though, I like you alive too much for that." He tried to smile but it didn't really work. 'He would taste good though...' he thought to himself. He was glad there weren't and mind-readers in here, that he knew of.

Mariel jumped I'm front of Kai. "I was right to be scared! Mother was right! There are bad people! You are one! Keep yourself away from my brother or I will...", she lost her trace. She did never learn to fight, only to heal. "I will... Do something has to you!", she cried out angrily but seemed more cute than anything else.

Kai could feel the chills run up his spine, so much so it actually tickled him and he choked out a laugh. Then with a nod he carefully responded. "I am still comfortable around you, sir, but that knowledge will, at least for a bit, put me more on edge."

With a reassuring smile, he looked down at Mariel before patting her head. "Do not worry, Mariel, if he is a teacher here then we shouldn't assume that he's bad or is here to do bad things. Assuming is bad. 'Assuming' makes an 'ass' out of you." He laughed slightly at this. "Or so the saying goes."

@Ami the breadling

"I'm not a bad person." Abraham was offended by her words, hurt even. "It's 2015, don't you think it's time to stop assuming all demons are bad?" He put his hands on his hips, starting to get a little grumpy.

Mariel got completely overwhelmed with the situation. "I don't know!", she cried out in disparity. "My mother tells me all people are good and then Raphael tells me no demons are bad and then Michael tells me no all that hurt humans are bad and then I came down and you tell me demons are not bad what shall I believe now I am confused and AAAAHHH!", she said, talking nineteen to the dozen.

Kai looked at her sternly. "Are there such things as bad angels? There, are, right?" He didn't wait for an answer. Going up to Mr. Peter, he cheerfully patted him on the shoulder. "Not everyone fits their stereotype! That's why we shouldn't believe them. If a person needs to eat animal to live, naturally animal would be scared, but what happens if they were to meet a vegan?"

Smiling up at Abraham, he continued his reasoning. "Just because he needs to devour souls," he paused. That could have been put a little nicer. "Doesn't mean he'll eat mine, right? I'm sure whoever he chewses to eat deserves it."

((I just thought I'd tell you how much I love Kai's character! He's adorable and I laugh at all of the puns))

"Exactly." Abraham put his arm around Kai's shoulder, bringing him a lot closer to him than before. "I'm like a vegan demon." He found it a funny analogy but it was a good way of explaining it. Except, he definitely would eat Kai's soul if he was allowed to.

A chuckle resounded from Kai as he was pulled in. He put out a hand welcoming Mariel to come closer. He wanted to coax her a bit out of her comfort zone and see if he couldn't get her to loosen up. She was generally already kind, but needed to learn to percieve as well.

"Look at us, we're all friends here. There's nothing to be concerned about. We're alright." His smile seemed permanently splattered on his face, with the exception of a few moments where he could be taken off guard.

((OOC: Thank you very much! I'm a very big pun person in real life so this is just me incorporating that goofiness into him. You should have heard what I pulled earlier irl.))

Kai quickly hugged and shook Mariel about, swaying her in his embrace before letting go again. Then he patted her head and kindly said, "You'll soon see. Many people aren't always what they look. It's the beauty of complex lives and personalities!"

"That's not true." Abraham crouched down on the floor near her. "You have heaps of people around you to help you out. You can even ask me for help, but I know I'm a bit scary." His voice was oddly soothing, it wasn't a tone anyone had heard before. It seemed to suit him in an odd way though and it was nice.

Kai took a step back, Mr. Peter was taking charge and this could be a good chance for the two to establish trust. Maybe she'll get a little more comfortable, or at least she'll see a softer side of the teacher. With a softened gaze he slowly moved back and gave them some space, however still close enough to hear the conversation. He put his smile to rest and watched from the sidelines this time.
