Problem is that you never know who's going to stay active after they've signed up. Still, I don't think it could hurt to have a few more players, especially now the characters are in a position to just stumble into random people.

I was thinking that, after a little banter and a lot more walking, the group stumbles across some kind of outskirt village that has a bandit predicament or whatnot. 'Course I'm open to other suggestions, there's not exactly a limit of what interesting shenanigans someone could stumble across after a country shattering event.

Retcon it? Otherwise there is no reason for your character to go, just to come back. Plus detours. You're just in a bad spot.
