Fantasy The War

[QUOTE="Clockwork Syringe]Alexander saw the image of the last great king etched upon it's facade and he knew that the Queen would want this retrieved. So he decided to try to strike a bargain with the Undine. "That is a very beautiful piece, but you can't really play with or eat it now can you, something you would much prefer to do I'd imagine. However," Orlando held out his almost full bag of blackberries, "I haven't eaten very many of my own berries. What do you say to a trade? Your old medallion for my fresh bag of sweet berries, although I don't think you'll return to the city for a while so you probably won't get these berries for sometime. You don't have to feel obligated to trade it, just an offer."

Tina looked at him. "Im not dumb. This one is very valuable. I could buy millions of berries for it. But u don't wanna sell it. I wanna wear it. I feel like a Princess then.", she said. Tina put the medallion on, it laying on her chest. "Its mine and ill keep it. And if anyone wants to take it, tbey will need to go through me and papa!"

"Can I sit down?" He sat down anyways, "You see, that's the thing. I don't make promises that I can't keep, I understand you may think you know everything about me or my kingdom." He said, "And i understand you can't do what's the best for both of our kingdoms both short and long term. So let's strike a deal shall we?" He said, with a certain strength his in voice, going from his happy self to a more kingly manner. He crossed one leg over the other and looked the Queen dead in the eye, "I wish to form an alliance, I can offer troops, if that does not appeal to you then I can offer Timber. My island is teeming with trees of different shapes and sizes, the most common being oak and spruce." He said, standing firmly behind his statements as a king should.

"You are a smart girl, and why wouldn't you want to feel like a princess?" Alexander began as he moved the berries away before eating one, "I mean you are a princess, so why shouldn't you feel like and look like one. I have no doubt that when you get older you will look even more like one. Although, I'm not sure if I count as anything special even though I'm part dragon. What do you think little one, does a dragon or being part one mean you're special in some way?" At least he tried to get the medallion, oh well.

"Thats special. I would want to be something more than just a Princess, but it am just a normal human i suppose.", she said. She was unaware that Matthias was a undyne and she knew she was human. "Thats why you have Wings. Thats so cool."

Daeshnir Valnov

Daeshnir noticed Xentrev's change of behavior, and subtly tapped twice on the Queen's lower back, out of sight of the foreign King. They had worked out a system, as Daeshnir was far better at determining lies than she. One tap was a lie, two was sincerity. The King believed what he said was a good deal.

Daeshnir cleared his throat eyeing the King. "Your Majesty. If I may, your armies are not what they once were. We have wood here, enough to scrape by. If we are short any, we have other trading partners with more stability to supply us." He said, voice firm. He wasn't scared or threatened by this man, not in the least.

"What I mean to say is... There is nothing about your deal that is tempting enough to take. We have a very strong army, we have a strong ally. Why would we need you?" He waited for the King to make some snide remark about the Champion breaking in to a business deal. He was used to it. It hasn't stopped him yet.

"Don't let that discourage you miss, I myself thought I was a just a normal human until I realized what I could do. Although I inherited these powers from birth, that doesn't mean you aren't special or will be. Everyone has the ability to be special, since you're so young, you can still decide what to do. I would suggest asking your father if he can teach you he'd probably be a better teacher, but remember this, "If something is hard, do not give up and you will pull through." I wish I knew my father though, I've never met him at all."

Tina nodded and smiled. Then, when she heard the last bit, she hugged him deeply. She didnt speak but hugged him, feeling sorry. Then, she let go of him. "We'll play something. You decide what."

Rex with a smile on his face was walking along the path to Ostleim. It was so nice to feel the warm sun on his face, and see the lush grass of the plains. Truth be told, he never did liked how the sun never rised in the Dark Kingdom, but at least the stars where rather nice to look at when he was about to go to sleep for day.

He starts to tug on his Dragon Tear a bit, to make sure it wasn't going to fall off his person. Luckily, that wasn't the case. As he continue on his path, he saw a rather big city in the distance. He starts to scratch the back of his head, and look at the city in awe. "So that's the city... I wonder how different life must be in this kingdom compared to the Dark Kingdom?" He thought to himself, with his hands on hips. "Well, no point in standing here like an idiot. I better get to the darn place first" Rex began to move along again. It was such an exciting feeling for him to explore and find out about something he never knew before. It made him shake in anticipation really.

Now out the city's gates, Rex looks at the guards that were standing in front of it. One of the guard looks at Rex as he walked though Ostleim's gates, the Dragon Tear went orange as that happens. Finally, he was inside the kingdom of Ostleim. And already he could see some differences. This city was rather large... maybe even bigger than the Dark Kingdom! Though granted, he never explored the Dark Kingdom very much as a child. As he walks around Ostleim, he looks from side to side, taking in what he is seeing. There was many forts and strongholds stride about the city, and some farmsteads here and there, and the places was roaming with guards and average citizens. He took at one of the buildings, it was a tavern. This probably the perfect place for Rex to get some work in... or just relax.

He opens up the tavern's doors, and like the norm. It was rather loud and noisy, but that didn't bother Rex one bit. He looks for the nearest chair available, which is in the right corner of the tavern, and takes a seat in it.

Today was the day that Garnet, captain of the 12th squad got her week off! She eagerly ran out of the gates of Galadarnad and began to explore. Hoping she could meet new people along the way, she walked with her head held high. After a few hours of exploring she came across a dark kingdom, she hid quickly since she still had her armor on from Galadarnad. She threw on a cloak and snuck in

The light clanking of armor resonated through the Dark Queen's Castle as Raeghal stumbled forward, nearly falling straight to the ground. He hadn't noticed his legs getting increasingly weak until that happened. He immediately straightened himself with the embarrassment of that act, sighing through his nose. That kingdom wasn't the place for him, that was certain now.

"My Queen...would you mind taking a walk around the kingdom? I know it's sudden, but I could use some time away from this palace."

Svenja giggled a bit at his stumbeling. She then immediately wrapped an arm around him and helped him stand. "Lets take a walk then." When she went outside with him, she straightened up, so that they appeared like master and servant in the cities. But as soon as they reached the places outside of the city, she took his hand and smiled. "Are you feeling better?"

She began exploring the kingdom and felt a very strange presence. It was almost like she had begun to feel drained and weakened significantly. "Strange.." She mumbled. Out of the corner of her eye she saw two hooded figures. Could they be from another kingdom, like me? She thought to herself. Curious, she followed them around. Keeping her distance but staying within 30 feet of them

"Well I don't know what kind of a game we should play, given that I'm supposed to be taking care of you, but I'm sure we can think of something. I mean you use ice/water magic, I use fire/dragon magic, and I'd rather not cause an incident. But I think an arrangement can be made." Alexander looked around the fountain that they had been sitting at in an attempt to try to think of something. At the same time, he wondered how Queen Bellatrix and her champion were fairing.

A rather large man approaches Rex, and sits down across from here. As the man sat down, the Dragon Tear turns into an orange color. "Oi boyo, I never seen ye face around these parts. Where ye from boy?" The man was carrying a jug of rum in his left hand, and he drinks some of it. "I'm from the Dark Kingdom." Rex replied quickly.

"The kingdom of darkness eh? I heard from one of my mates, that the sun never rises there... that be true lad?" Rex nods his head to confirm the man's question. "I see, I see... well if you need a job or anything in the like, just check with some nobles or some board." The man gets up from the chair, and turns his back to Rex.

"Wait a minute? How did you know I needed a job?" The man looks over his shoulder. "How did I know lad? It's your eyes boyo... that's why. They scream out... wanting to explore new possibilites." The Dragon Tear turns yellow as the man walks away.

Rex ponders on the man's words, it was true. He is an adventurous sort, that wants to see grand and new things, but he didn't know it was that obvious. No matter, he just laid back in his chair, resting up in the tavern before he goes out and explore the rest of the city.

Xentrev eyed the Champion, "I was hoping you'd jump in, While its true I dont have anything to offer you that's of value in physical form..." He looked down then back up, "I can offer one that most others are afraid to admit, that is Loyalty. You are aware that my kingdom is in its downfall, we need the support and resources of an ally and in return I can guarantee my kingdom's loyalty to yours." He stood and a put a fist of his left breast with his right hand in a saluting fashion, "Like I said, your Majesty, I never make a promise I can't keep." He smiled at himself, Fallen down this low have we? Whatever guarantees the safety of the Kingdom my parents built, I will make.

@Play On Words @Graecus Scum

Daeshnir Valnov

"Loyalty." Daeshnir said flatly. He couldn't believe this man. He was supposedly a wise King, but was asking for a sizable sum of resources and money for... Basically nothing.

"Your Majesty. If he expects this much from us, surely he understands that 'loyalty' is not a fair trade, if a trade at all. Loyalty comes and goes like the wind." He murmured in Evelyn's ear. He didn't particularly care if Xentrev heard, but he kept up appearances either way.

The one thing Daeshnir didn't really understand was the King's first words. I was hoping you'd jump in. Why would he wish for that? Was Daeshnir known for being some kind of traitor to his race? A Dark elf in a strong position of the Plant Kingdom?

Evelyn Hamilton

Evelyn nodded slowly at her Champion's words. She agreed with him, of course. She nearly always did, he was a wise man.

"King Xentrev. I understand your views, but this trade is no trade at all. Yours is a failing kingdom. I will not place valuable resources that my people need in the hands of a man I don't know or trust. You'd have me force my citizens to eat less so yours can eat more?" She said, no hesitation in her afflection. She may've been a wispy, small woman... But when she spoke firmly, people listened.

He waved them off and turned around to head back home, "I'll straighten my kingdom then get back to you, hmm? Or not? My scouts only found this place because I sent them to the far reaches of the lands." He sighed, Negotiations are taxing... especially ones that fail. "Set sail back for Balasieed, Negotiation failed, but in my case... I'd say we got all we need from here.." He said.

Evelyn laughed as he left. "How strange. The 'far reaches of the land'? Astrain is rather central." She noted to Daeshnir, loud enough for the foreign King to hear as he left.

"I do hope he doesn't return. This was a waste of time. I can't feed my people with loyalty. I can't keep them safe with the loyalty of a dying kingdom. That man needs to learn how to negotiate." She smirked.

Arriving at his kingdom, in a far better state than it was before he left, "What in the hell... What the hell happened while I was gone?" He said to an advisor who greeted him on his return, "Change, sir.... change happened." He humbly said, "But by whose orders? Mine? I gave no such order while I-- oh what the hell." He said in a firm voice. "The Council thought it a necessary change, you don't seem to have that much of a knack for running a kingdom, my lord. So the Council thought they would run it for you... it's just your job to make the decisions." The advisor said, "So you plan on turning MY kingdom into a democracy? Is that it?" He said with anger. "Well... it IS the people's kingdom too.." He argued back, but hailed no response from Xentrev, The people's kingdom.... have I really been a selfish king? Am I really desecrating my parents image... "I must retreat to my palace for some.. deep thoughts." He said before walking off to his palace.

At her command, Dro'Khan shot off into the night sky, its great bat like wings beating rhythmically as it headed towards the location of death, the stench of blood easily picked up by its sharp predatory senses. While Arkos, himself, no longer had a sense of smell, from Dro'Khan's eagerness, he knew they would not be arriving to a pleasant scene. It was not for himself that he felt trepidation, but for her. Bellatrix, she... loved the people, and whatever they were about to come up on would not bode well for the rest of the kingdom, or perhaps, the world. For her sake, he hoped some of the attackers remained, someone she could vent her anger and anguish on, to burn to a cinder with the flames that so desperately wished to come out if the smoke drifting up from the front of his armor was any indication.

His right hand locked firmly within Dro'Khan's mane, something that would normally not be necessary, but with her behind him, he did not want to take any chances and risk her falling from the Manticore's back. While such a fall wouldn't kill her, it would certainly not do for their queen to be seen tumbling down from the sky, especially, given the recent attack. Slowly, he moved his left hand to cover one of her own with his, ignoring the black smoke that was drifting up from the palm. He doubted his gauntlet was much of a comfort, but it was all Arkos could offer as he gave her a squeeze he hoped was reassuring.

As they drew near the harbor, Arkos could already make out the fallen bodies, the blood that ran down the streets and pooled in the gutter. Pulling his wings, Dro'Khan tucked into a dive and descended like a hawk. Fanning out his wings at the last instant, Dro'Khan slowed his descent and landed lightly on his paws as Arkos swung off the Manticore even as it was leaning down to make it easier for Bellatrix to do the same. He scanned the roads, ignoring the bodies that littered it, nearly a hundred if not more, if he had been asked, ensuring there were no enemies nearby... and there wasn't. Whatever happened, they had fled before they arrived which mean there was no enemy to taste her wroth for the moment and so the anger in her would have no real release.

Arkos walked through the street of the dead, stepping over the fallen and even having to walk around large piles of the dead that came up to his wasit, more men then women from what he could tell. The men... he crouched on his hunches, rolling over the man and examined his wounds. Large chunks were taken out of him, as if something had feasted on him whilst he was still alive. He bent down and, sure enough, he could make out teeth marks on the exposed ribs that burst out from the mutilated chest.

He looked up and saw tiny shoes sticking out from beneath a woman, Arkos stepped over the man hoping he was not about to find what he knew lay beneath, not for his own sake, but for his Queen's. Once more, he sank down to his hunches, glad that he no longer had a sense of smell as he lifted the young woman's mutilated corpse off the small figure and revealing the small corpse of a young dark elf child, no more then a few decades, if he had to guess. Lightly touching the wound that ran across her chest, he could picture what had happened. The young woman, her mother if he had to guess, had used her body to shield her child, but whatever blade had hit her had more then enough power to cleave through and kill the child she had tried to protect. The girl's face was contorted in terror, the dried trail of tears running down her eyes. Arkos looked up at the night sky for a moment before rolling the woman's body back over the little girl, not wanting Bellatrix to see it... She had enough to deal with as it was.

There wasn't much sound to speak off in the tunnels, nothing besides the occasional drop of water coming from the surface. No place in the kingdom of Ostleim was quieter or calmer than the underground. Of course, the quietness isn't exactly an indication of peace. You walk through through the darkness, withdrawing your minds from the problems that walk above your head. And then you step into the wrong place, and the last thing you see is a goblin heading straight for your throat.

That was exactly what Catherine had been trying to avoid when she saw the young boy sneaking into the tunnels.

Her act had apparently disturbed the creatures of the underground. They weren't happy to see the woman stealing their lunch, but their angry expressions soon disappeared as Catherine beheaded anything that came in her direction.

"You still didn't explain what you came to do here."

Her question earned another angry stare from the boy. It was going to be a monologue, then.

"I guess I should probably be debriefing you on the dangers of the underground. But you saw them first hand. Big,ugly goblins. And a few giant snakes hiding around. So you need to leave."

Again,no response. They were already reaching their headquarters, and Catherine's eyes searched the place by pure reflex. To most people, that part of the underground meant coldness and death. To Catherine it was warmth, family. Her brothers of Iron were the only friends she had. It wasn't like they always agreed on everything, but she knew that their respect was something she deserved. Catherine bumped her sword against the wall of the tunnels, making her presence be announced to the other knights. They were soon standing outside in a respectful position, waiting for her orders. Catherine stood tall in front of her brothers and sisters, inspecting their armors like she did every single day.

"Jeremy,Diane?"

"Yes,Commander?" They both replied at the same time,as usually.

"Jeremy,I want you to gather ten knights and head for the south tunnels. There seems to be an abnormal amount of goblins in there. Those tunnels are smaller than normal,so choose short weapons to strike against your foes. Diane, you're on patrol today."

"Ma'am yes,ma'am!"

She followed Jeremy's movement as he choose his warriors, mentally approving his choices before she turned back to the boy. The underground was no place for a child, and she could definitely confirm that statement by using her own experience. She picked the boy in her arms with ease, then placed him at her back. The way to the surface wasn't one she took too often, but now it was necessary.

"I'm taking you back home,to your parents."

That caused the boy to cry even more, but Catherine wasn't swayed by it. Her duty came first. The fact that this boy triggered some unwanted memories wasn't important. And she certainly wasn't going to ask him why he had wandered through those tunnels.

A deep sigh left Catherine's nose. She wasn't good at lying, even when it was lying to herself. Her thoughts were pushed away once she opened the door to the surface, making the shine of the sun glisten against her armor. Brightness hurt her eyes as she pulled the dark helmet off, making her blink a few times. The surface felt weirdly alien to her. But if Catherine was going to talk with the boy,she could as well look into his eyes.

"All right. Can you tell me why you were here now?"

He looked at his feet, kicking the ground lightly. Catherine didn't actually need an answer to that. She saw the bruises in his arm. She saw the fear when she mentioned his parents. That was a traumatized boy if she had ever seen one.

"You're fleeing from the surface because it's even scarier than the underground. Goblins don't have anything on bad parents,do they? You weren't scared at all down there. That was pretty impressive. You must have Iron in your blood."

To her surprise,a small smile opened it's way through the boy's face. Catherine replied to it,already making her decision. Maybe she would regret that later, maybe not.

"Do you want to go back to the underground, then? You will have a place with us here. But it's a very difficult job,and you won't have an easy time. This isn't vaca-"

Catherine's speech was interrupted by the boy jumping into her arms and hugging her chest plate tightly. She blinked with surprise for a few moments before tapping his back lightly. It was a certainty that in a few weeks this boy wouldn't be loving her so much. Training under Catherine was harsh and often very painful. But as far as she was concerned,he would always have a family.

Rex got up from his chair, and starts to move both of his arms in a clockwise motion. It was time to explore the city, he thought to himself as he opens the door leaving the tavern, the warm air hitting him like a soft pillow really.

First thing Rex needs to do, is find out the currency of this city. He knew well enough that the world doesn't accept Drokmas everywhere. So he walks up to nearest citizen of this city, and ask them of the currency of this town. As the citizen looks at Rex, his Dragon Tear turns orange. "The currency of Ostleim? I take it your a traveler if you don't know about it. The citizen lightly rubs his nose with his left hand, and digs into his pocket with his right. He pulls out a sliver coin. "It's Denar. This right here is a sliver Denar... which isn't as much as a gold denar. And before you ask, a gold denar is worth 10 sliver denars." He puts the sliver denar back into his pocket. "I hope it helps stranger" The citizen continue on with his day, rubbing his nose as he walks away.

"So the currency name is Denars..." Rex thoughts as he puts his hands behind his back as he walks. The Masamune shaking ever so slightly on his left side as he walks. "Looks like Drokmas will be useless in this kingdom... oh well, i'll still keep them on me." As he observe his surroundings, he realized that there were mostly humans in this kingdom, though there was some elves and some dwarves, so humans however often he see them, aren't the only race here.

Rex seems to stumble in the town's central shopping district, which seems to be bustling with activity. Sadly for Rex however, is that he doesn't have any sort of cash that was acceptable here. So, he quietly sat on a wooden bench, watching the citizens do their shopping and the guards of city watching for any illegal actions or an act of a crime to occur. "It seems this place is doing well for itself, i'm glad. Everyone seems to be enjoying their daily lives as they should."

Nekri had been airborne for quite some time now, a while back she was in Galadarnad territory and now she could see the edge of the dark kingdom on the horizon. She had noticed a group of undynes making way to the kingdom, they didn't look friendly but she moved forward and paid them no attention. "They look like trouble, best if I keep the fighting inland."

She found a place to land at the capital, Dernavir. Other than the houses and small market, the castle loomed over it casting a shadow on whichever side the sun is. "Go back to your master, I'm sure he's worried about you."Nekri patted the hypogriph. The beast understood Nekri and flew back to Galadarnad's direction.

Like usual all clients that she encounters are all located at the tavern, so that's where she went. Once inside, someone recognized her and raised a hand directed towards Nekri. The man looked of someone with class, and obviously by looking at his clothes he is a noble.

"So what do you need my help with?"she asked, straight to the point.

"Eager are we? That's good, we may not have time anyway."he nodded."This morning, a young lad informed a guard that he saw undynes on the waters headed straight here and one of my ears reported the danger to me."

It was too much of a coincidence anyway, what kind of danger would spook a noble other than a school of fearsome undynes?

"Not much more to be said, I've already confirmed the coming danger on my way here."Nekri said."But until they come, let's discuss my payment shall we?"

"How does 1 gold and 50 silver drokmas sound to you."he asked."That should be equivalent to 1 goldtalon in your kingdom."

"That will work for me."she said.

Bellatrix held tightly to Arkos, her mind in a whirl at what sight she would see. She could only hope that no children were killed..and that she could clean everything up respectfully. The families of these poor people were probably heart broken, just as she was over such a tragedy. She never imagined that such a thing would happen so soon..but who could guess that the Sea King would of attacked her? She certainly couldn't of predicted it. She also could not of figured why he would even bother to attack her..what had she done to provoke him? Her mind was filled to the very brim with questions and worries, but she was also angry. Angry at the Sea King for destroying her people..for taking lives he would never come to understand the meaning of...and he did it so recklessly..and disrespectfully. Who would dare to slaughter unarmed citizens? Who would dare to waltz into her kingdom like that? Bellatrix would have her vengeance..one way or another.

As the pair rode on the back of Dro'Khan, Bellatrix's long amethyst hair would flow out behind her, like valiant cloak. Her face was hard and her hands still smoking, the only thing that brought her any sense of reassurance was Arkos's hand resting upon her's and giving it a gentle squeeze. Arkos knew she loved her people..and loved them with a passion. He knew more than anything how much this would hurt her..how truly irate she was. Arkos was the only person that had spent enough tie with her to read her like the back of his bony hand. He knew her likely better then he'd ever know anyone, which made them the perfect team. They did not have to guess when one another was hurt..or emotionally distraught. She knew this mainly thanks to the bond, but before it even happened Bellatrix knew when something was wrong with the man. The two had known one another longer than time itself.

When Dro'Khan got closer to the area, Bellatrix's eyes scanned below. What she saw was beyond imaginable..beyond any death she had ever seen in her battles. It was a slaughter.. Bodies littered everywhere, piles of them as tall as a normal person..and blood..Oh the blood..the blood of innocence..the blood of her people. If Bellatrix could breathe, she was sure she'd of gasped at the grotesque sight below her. Bellatrix's arms wrapped tighter around Arkos as Dro'Khan descended from the sky. Upon landing, Bellatrix would not hesitate to leap off the great beast and give him a loving pat.
"Thank you Dro'Khan." Her voice sounded so distant..almost like she wasn't there at all, and she wished she wasn't. She wished with all her might that this wasn't real..that it was all a dream..but the screams and cries of people all around her only made it that more realistic. The heart broken sobs coming from children, mothers, fathers, grandparents, anyone who had lost someone.

And so..she walked through the valley of Death, not daring to shed a tear while so many people looked to her for strength. Not daring to break the stone face she had put on for them. Not daring to break down when the people needed her the most. Very carefully Bellatrix avoided stepping on the bodies, cautious not to even step on a hair or fingers. At the sight around her..her chest twisted painfully. This..this was not something she could of guess would happen to her kingdom..this..was not something she could handle very well. The anguish in her heart only raised further when she came to stand next to Arkos. He had found a mother and her child..killed. The mother must of been protecting her child by the looks of it. Bellatrix watched as Arkos covered the child with the mother's body once more, obscuring the view from her.

From here she could only sake her head and turn away from everything she saw. Bellatrix could not cry in front of her people..they could not see that..or surely it would send the kingdom into panic. Slowly she made her way toward the ocean, looking out to too it's dark surface with the reflection of stars upon it. The sea..it was both a calming and enraging sight before her. While no one could see her face..the Lich Queen did the most human thing possible..she cried. Her tears rolled down her pale cheeks and hit the ground, each one coming faster and faster. Her face was still hard like obsidian, as her eyes looked out over the sea, almost as though they were searching..searching for the devilish man who did this to them..to the innocent people of Quanni. Ravens swarmed the area, waiting and hoping for meal. Their croaking could be heard all around as they landed on trees, ships, the ground, any surface they could.

"The guard is to round up the dead as respectively and quickly as they can. Quanni will morn for their fallen citizens come tonight. We shall hold a funeral for each life lost." Bellatrix's voice sounded strong, hard and cold..but to Arkos he would be able to hear how hollow it was. Hear the under tones of sorrow and pain..the twinge of anger. As more tears feel from the Queen, her hands curled into tight balls, the once black smoke now roaring black flames that engulfed her fists. Bellatrix's dark aura would begin to rapidly escalate, along with her temper. The water kingdom would pay..
