Fantasy The Lost Treasure of Creation

Pansa snorted from his perch. He used magic but dark magic was not part of his arsenal.

"Dark magic is for cowards and the corrupt. I do not use such cowardice. Do not confuse my methods with that disgusting excuse for magic."

Pansa snarled as he spat the words from behind his mask as if it left a bad taste in his mouth.

"That abomination took someone dear from me. I'd never touch that stuff. I'd gladly spill my guts where i stand if I touched that stuff. Don't look down on me because I use different magic than you."

Pansa pulled out another scroll and tossed it down to the girl glaring at him.

"Since you seem to be uneducated about magic beyond your own realm, let me catch you up to speed. Western and Eastern magic draws on different sources. Eastern magic gets its strength from spiritual energy. Every one's spiritual energy is attuned to a different element. Therefore everyone's spiritual energy has different attributes. Fire attuned people have incredible strength and their energy burns upon touch. Water attuned people have incredible agility. Their energy leeches heat. Wind attuned people are nimble and their energy cuts. Wood attuned people are strong bodied. Their energy is healing."

Pansa looked down at the elven girl once more.

"Don't think you're the only one with a hatred for dark magic. You're too hasty. It will only led you to make decisions that make have dire consequences."

@WeepingAngel525

Ireth picked up the scroll and listened to his explanation. She sheathed her dagger "I don't have time to concern myself with the ways of other realms...." She said simply and then winced.

It wasn't long before Ireth was on her knees as she rubbed her temples she spent too much of her energy and she had to unshield her mind now it was even more susceptible to attacks. She waited a moment before slowly standing up. "It was my trust and patience that brought death in front of me and I refuse to ever let that happen again. Do not speak to me about being hasty." She snapped

"I'd say the blood covering you is quite telling in its own right," Van remarked. "As well as that floating around you. What brings a blood mage to this dessicated corpse, if I may?" He crouched down as he said this, sliding the knapsack off his shoulder as an excuse to try and hear what the others were discussing. Some kind of treasure . . . ? No, that couldn't be all there was to it, not for this many people to be risking their lives. Which meant it wasn't just any treasure.

He fiddled with the straps holding the satchel closed, and snorted as he heard snippets of something about the evils of dark magic.
Ah, how painful it must be to be young and naive. . . . Better to hold his tongue for the moment. Papers, bones, and other bits and bobs rustled around as Vanathell searched his pack with one hand, the other holding the torch so close to the sack that it looked like it might alight, until he finally pulled away one scroll in particular with a sound of triumph. "I suppose, regardless of your business, one should never be without a map."

The elder then folded up the satchel once more and stood, mindful not to show his face. Thankfully the ruins were quite dark--aside from the torch, of course--and added an additional layer of obscurity to his already oversized hood. But judging by the young brunette's stance, and the bluenette's demeanor, that alone wasn't enough. He hated thinking his old mentor was right--masking spells were so useful. Damn his impatience when he was younger!

"Fortunately for you, I've been cataloging where I've gone so far in this place. It's not a completed map, but it may be of some assistance so as to not get lost, yes?" The lich offered the parchment to the girl so that she could see for herself, a practiced script neatly outlining a couple of passages further in.

Blood mage? Arya was briefly confused, until she realized how she must have looked to the stranger. The liquid under her control was basically all blood at the moment, after all, though this was due to the lack of water in the desert ruins. She was rather covered in the red liquid, as well -- almost like she had just committed some kind of massacre -- due to the combination of decapitating the monster earlier and the blood liking to follow her around. Honestly, blood mage was a pretty good conclusion, given the circumstances. The girl decided not to correct him on this little fact, figuring that it didn't really matter at the moment.

"...You have a very dark aura," She eventually told the man, in response to his question of what brought her to him.
Desiccated corpse, eh? she thought, looking the cloaked figure over. She supposed he could be a lich, though she had never seen one before, and his features were rather hidden. Still, it would explain the aura that had been so curious and threatening to her. "What would a 'desiccated corpse' gain by offering a blood mage a map?" the girl asked, using the terms that the man had used earlier. Her eyes scanned the parchment briefly, but she was hesitant to take a closer look, still not trusting the man.

Arya took a step back so that she was standing next to Keir now. "What do you think?" she whispered to him, referring to the strange man in front of them and the map he offered. She didn't trust the man, but that was due to the dark aura around him. If Keir decided to trust him, she would allow it, though she would be keeping a close eye on the stranger.

Keir Sullivan

The menacing, unreadable tone of the strange man's voice caught Keir's attention. He had never before heard a voice like that. The gravelly dryness of the sound of the man's voice made him seem unnatural. Keir's mind briefly remembered stories of undead and liches others had told him in the past, and he shuddered slightly. This man couldn't be one of those, could he? As the silence stretched on after Arya's curt reply to the man's initial question, Keir realized that he should attempt to either do or say something. He was just gathering his thoughts to ask a question when the cloaked figure spoke again. His words confused Keir. A blood mage? Was he referring to Arya? Keir had just assumed she had general power over liquid. Could she be using dark magic?

Keir immediately disregarded those thoughts. He had to trust his ally. He watched as the strange man fished in his bag and decided to try to move a little closer. He inched forwards, trying not to trip over rubble, and eventually brought himself a few steps behind Arya. While they waited, the man continued rummaging in his bag and eventually produced a scroll. Keir watched as he moved over and handed it to Arya, claiming it was a map he had drawn himself. Keir immediately distrusted the map, and, once Arya stepped back and asked his opinion, had no problem letting the stranger know that. "How do we know we can safely put our faith in this?" He asked, his voice full of suspicion. "You appeared out of nowhere and, though you have not shown that you bear us ill will, you have also not given us reason to believe that you mean us no harm. You won't even reveal your face. For all we know, this is a trap." He glared at both the stranger and the map as if he was daring them to prove him wrong.

Eihro gave a nod of assent to Geir as the man spoke, introducing himself and his companion, Ila, who he would have to discern the full name of at a later date at the rate things were going. At the same time Lani gave a slight bow and energetic wave. It was nice that the people they had found seemed to have a semblance of dignity and politeness to them, as the past few townships that they had been through had been lousy with those that cared little for any other than themselves. It was a nice turn of events.

"Soooo... big spooky cave adventuring time, right dad? We could even take these two along and make it an adventure like some of the old days you used to tell me about!" chattered Lani animatedly as the elder Eihro rolled his eyes, albeit with a slight smile, "Or maybe they're already here to explore the caves, then we could always ask to join them for fun! Hey, Geir, would you mind if we joined you unless you weren't already going to go in which case you to care to join us because everything tends to be more fun in a group and you know it's just how things are and-"

The rest of Lani's words were cut off as Eihro, with a wry smile, gently place a finger over Lani's mouth, signaling that she was rambling. Usually if it were just him he wouldn't care, and generally Lani was a calm girl, but meeting new people always got her excited and it sometimes took a bit to calm her.

Of course he also quieted the girl so that he could listen better to the pair that were currently walking by them and towards the mine. Mixed with what little he'd heard as they'd drawn near, and the way they carried themselves, Eihrodeign grimaced at the realisation that they were dealing with a noble of some sort.

"You know," he called out, looking over his shoulder at the gentlemen, "In most places it's considered rude to ignore people and not introduce yourself. Particularly so when you make a point to insult people that work for an honest days living as you ignore them."

It couldn't have been more obvious that he was referring to the noble pair. Quite frankly he could not care less if they took offence to his words, he'd dealt with scarier armies than a pair of pompous warriors.

Geir raised one eyebrow and stared at the talkative girl with a slightly exasperated expression. Oh no, she seems so...cheerful, he thought. He usually wasn't too keen on being around overly cheerful people, simply because they tended to wear him out, but he supposed it couldn't be helped. These people seemed keen on entering the mines, and Geir was not going to let them go ahead and get to whatever treasures there were inside first, especially not if the one he has hired to retrieve was inside. Still, the man was thankful when the taller dragon hushed the girl, though his relief was short lived.

Two men walked towards the mines, another who was significantly taller than Geir -- which he noted with just a hint of annoyance -- and an elf who was around the same height, if only an inch taller than him, which did not bother him nearly as much. What did bother him, however, was that the elf was obviously a noble of some sort, and clearly looking down at the people around him. The black handkerchief held up to the elf's nose especially rubbed Geir the wrong way. Bastard thinks he's too good to even breathe the same air as us, he thought, a disgusted expression on his face as he looked at the elf. The man next to him wasn't much better, simply enabling the noble to go on in a pompous way.

"Aw, look at the delicate elfy, can't even stomach the air out here!" Geir stated loudly as they approached, glowing eyes glaring at the two. Just seeing the way they walked and talked was enough to get Geir's temper to flare up, and he certainly wasn't brought up to be polite on the streets. "They better not go into the mines if he can't deal with the air up here, poor elfy wouldn't want to damage his delicate lungs," he commented, the distaste clear in his tone of voice. He knew he was being a jerk, and realized that he should keep these thoughts to himself, especially around apparent polite company, but sometimes his temper got the better of him, and in these cases he tended to speak before he thought things through.

Mavndrus stopped as he heard the group of commons babbled and tried to insult them. He turned slowly placing his handkerchief in his pocket. Leandor placed a hand on his soldier stopping him from saying anything hotheaded. Leandor stepped foreword "I apoligize." he said looking up at the man who was clearly taller then everyone and who seem to have a very strong aura about him. Mavndrus scoffed as Leandor apoligized to the lowlifes "They should be apoligizing to me, speaking to a persona of my standards." Not able to holf back anymore Mavndrus stepped in front of Leandor before he could speak again. "I am the Dark Elf Prince Mavndrus Favehari, and noe that you know who i am..." He said haughtingly taking a step forward then in a hush, aggressive but subtle tone "...you should start acting accordingly."

Leandor could see the group clearly didnt like nobles and took a step closer to Mav to discourage them from attacking. "My prince i suppose we get going." Leandor suggesting not wanting to stay any longer seeing that there rpesence would certainly cause uneeded conflict between the two groups. But of course Mav wasnt done "No..." he said raaing his head and inspecting them. "I want these bumbling fools to kneel down and apoligize for addressing me in such rude manor."

Leandor grumaced at the princes request, he hoped they would just comply to it so they could move on. He didnt want to get into a skirmish with these unknowns especially not the tall icy figured that towered over everyone.

Lani had always been a bright girl, and she had been lucky that Eihrodeign had always done such a good job teaching her to be quick on her feet and quick in her mind. Because of this she knew exactly what to do as her father turned to face the pair, holding her hand up for the man and woman behind her to realise that they may want to let the elder Ice dragon handle the situation.

Eihrodeign, on the other hand, rounded on the pair. There was a look on his face, not of anger, but of an adult staring down at two young children sticking their noses into business they shouldn't be... or trying to act older than they were wise. Scrutinising the obvious leader, and antagonistic brat, for a few moments informed Eihrodeign of all he needed to know.

"Prince Mavndrus if I recall correctly. Heir to the throne of a father he holds so much anger with. I know who you are, child, and I've lived your role as a noble a handful of times myself. So let me tell you something that nine centuries of life and wisdom can show you."

Stepping forward until he was directly in front of the noble Eihro looked straight down at the elf as a powerful chill emanated from his body as he reached into his coat and withdrew a small bag. As the ground immediately around Eihro's feet started to crackle and gleam with ice the dragon opened the small coinpurse to reveal what was easily enough gems to last three lifetimes. He then threw it to the side and left it's contents scatter across the ground as he glared down at the young noble.

"The lesson here is that there no matter how big in your britches you get, child, there will always be a bigger, meaner, richer fish, and money means very little in the grand scheme of life. It is a good lesson to learn, and you would be wise to adhere to it. Now, here is to proper introductions. I am Eihrodeign the Guardian, Ice Dragon. The girl there is Lani the Walker, Air Dragon and my daughter. The other pair here are potential business partners and fellow living beings, so they should be treated with the same respect you would expect child prince Mavndrus."

As her dad finished up his words Lani leaned back towards Geir and Ila with a silly grin as she spoke only just loud enough for them to hear, "Yup, that's dear old dad for you. He used to be a hero and the like before now, and while he never talks about it, I'm fairly certain he used to act like Elf-prince stick up his butt before he was a hero."

@Ninja God @Rin Nyx

(Note-The only reason I have Eihrodeign know Mavndrus' title and position is because he's old and given that he wanders nations it would make sense for him to keep track of the noble families that inhabit the world.)

Mavndrus was furious as anyone could tell. He gripped his staff and a look of anger washed over his face from the pure himiliation he just received from the old overgrown lizard the few words he wanted to speak but held in. If this was any other group of scum he wouldve blasted them to pieces on the spot but the prince knew that this fight wouldnt end well. He held his toungue but his pride took the best of him. As he started to say something Leandor stepped in front of him and bowed to Eihrodeign "I am truly sorry for the princes actions, we didnt mean to cause any trouble."

Leandor has heard of this dragon before plenty of times from the storyteller of his old kingdom. This man wasnt someone they could take on alone.

Mavndrus pushed some hair out of his face and gained his composure.

Geir frowned, and was about to start slinging more insults at the pair, when the young air dragon held out a hand to indicate that they should do nothing. Geir held back for a moment, but really this just got on his nerves more than anything, as he listened to the elder ice dragon speak. The man got a little agitated when Eihrodeign threw the coin purse full of riches to the side, though, throwing it away like it was nothing. He may be trying to make a point to that stuck up prince, but there are people who need that money. It may mean little to a noble, but it could mean life or death for someone else...the gods know the people of this town look like they could use it right now. The thought put a bad taste in his mouth, and, though it had the desired effect of hushing the prince, the teal-haired man also lost some respect for the elder dragon as well. The dragon may act like a wanderer, moving from town to town, but this action was very much one of a nobleman.

Geir resisted the urge to collect the coins on the ground -- he would have to see to that later, if they were still there by the time they left the mines -- and turned towards the entrance to the mines, the air around him growing hotter as his anger settled in. Speaking in response to Lani, so that only she and maybe Unila could hear him, Geir told her, "Your father is still a noble. Maybe not stuck up like elfy over there, but a noble nonetheless." With that, he made a pointed glance at the bag of coins on the ground, then looked back at Lani. The comment was harsh, and the man knew it as soon as the words left his mouth, but it was obvious that he was still fuming after the encounter.

"These people say there's trouble in these mines, so let's get going and find out why," Geir stated more loudly now, so that the rest of the group could hear him. He said nothing else, just started to walk towards the entrance to the mines, though if any of the others -- except the pompous prince -- wanted to take lead, he would fall back. After all, it was more inconvenient for him to lead if he was stuck in a group -- it meant that he would be more likely to be the one to be attacked first, and while he was certain he could handle it, it would be inconvenient enough that he'd rather not bother.

@Veirrianna Valentine @Ninja God

Lani watched as Geir started making his way towards the mine entrance while taking a moment to fan herself off. He really needed to relax. Besides, she knew her dad wasn't going to leave until the people were able to get back on their feet somehow, because that's who he was. If Geir thought he was stuck up then tough cookies. Regardless the secret hybrid set off skipping to catch up to the fire dragon, coming up on his right only to spin across in front of him and come into step on his left.

"Weeeeeeeeeeeelllllll, maybe we are going to help, eh there 'hothead'. Maybe you should think about things and *snrk* 'simmer down'?" Lani giggled a bit at her own jokes, nudging at Geir with her elbow in a friendly manner. She wasn't trying to antagonise him at all, though, simply lighten the mood, "Besides, dad sees himself as a teacher to everyone, but sometimes you have to teach different people different things. Not gonna teach a rabbit how to be a dragon or vice versa, are ya?"

Eirho, for his part, eyed up Mavndrus once more before smiling and nodding at Leandor, stating that an opportunity to teach youths was never a burden before nodding towards the mine entrance. The Ice Dragon figured they'd catch the message to join them even as he turned and strode quickly towards the cave. He passed within centimetre's of Geir, stirring up a bit of dust, as he spoke pointedly to Lani.

"I thought we agreed I was to enter dark caves first. Remember the bear incident? We don't need a repeat of that."

Lani rolled her eyes a bit as Eihrodeign stepped first into the cave, the girl nodding at the mine entrance as she spoke to Geir again, "It was once. I wandered into a bear's cave once. Not my fault it thought I smelled tasty, you know?"

Cynbal Dangrol

"I am not sure if I account this as meeting, more of a notice." Cynbal commented, his eyes narrowing slightly as out of the corner of his eye saw the man remove his hood. "But if this might turn into a meeting it might be a pleasure but that is for us to decide later." He added with a tinge of annoyance. This was wasting his time and did not seem to be of any help. But then again he didn't know the goals or knowledge of these two strangers. Maybe they would provide to be helpful.

Eri Zabelan

Eri heard the man greet her and sighed. The man with antlers replied to the greeting sent at her with distaste. Slowly she descended and touched the ground. Shifting into a more solid form, Eri looked up at the two men. "A pleasure you say?" She replied simply, regarding the two men through a guarded but calm expression. Strange that they would speak to her as well. Even though she might be of no interest to them. @Hoki

The fire dragon didn't laugh at the girl's jokes, still a bit angered, but he did start to 'simmer down', as the girl had called it. He closed his eyes briefly and let out a quiet sigh, attempting to calm himself, and the air around him cooled down again to just slightly-above the natural temperature outside. He opened his eyes again, finding that the ice dragon was taking the lead. Fine by me. Let the old guy be the first to danger, Geir thought, trying not to let himself be too bitter. His temper had gotten the best of him earlier, but he really was attempting to calm down.

Attempting to distract himself from unpleasant company, the man instead listened to the dragon girl talk. He tilted his head to the side a little when she explained the bear incident, though. "Tasty? I'd think it would be more intimidated than hungry. I mean, wouldn't you be if a predator even larger than you walked into your home?" he mentioned, apparently calmed down enough to have polite conversation, at least. At the moment, he was still under the assumption that the girl was a full dragon, and had the ability to change into a beast form at will, so 'tasty' simply didn't seem like an appropriate descriptor to him. He shrugged this off, though, not particularly concerned about the words the girl used to describe the bear. He looked back, making sure that Unila was following them -- after all, the girl had mentioned wanting to explore the mine right away -- and, satisfied that she was, continued on, letting Eirho take the lead.

Pansa snorted and retrieved another vial from his pack. He held it out to Ireth.

"You may not trust me but as a team we will last longer. I am currently the only one here skilled at healing and making salves. I insist you drink this. It will boost your energy."

To prove he wasn't trying to poison her, he retrieved a similar vial and swallowed its entire content. He gestured to the fact he was still standing. If it had been poison, he wouls have perished moments ago.

He again held out the salve to the bleeding girl. They didn't trust him nor he them but what choice did he or they have. The place was a death trap. Venturing alone was a death wish and venturing along without a healer was a fool's errand.

@WeepingAngel525 @Rin Nyx

Ireth caught the vial and watched as he drank from a similar vial and saw he was still standing. She looked down at the vial in her hand and sighed if he was out to kill her she was sure he would have done that already. Besides she would have felt some hint of foul play while they were speaking. Ireth let out a sigh as if she was fighting an inward battle and one side had just won. She quickly popped off the lid and drank its contents in one big gulp.

Ireth noticed her energy was up and her head stopped throbbing. "Perhaps working together won't be so bad." She said quietly.

"I'm Ireth and that there.." She pointed to the blue haired girl "is Arya, and then there's Kier and..." Ireth paused seeing another with them. She didn't know who he could be and it made her nervous there really was a lot of people coming.

"Arya, you should use the salve." She said looking at the girl.

Pansa bowed deeply at the waist as after he was introduced to everyone. The newcomer was some kind of magic user so he would remain vigilant while traveling with him.

"Pansa is my name. I am a ninja by night and a herbalist by day. I do apologize for my roundabout manners. Direct approaches are difficult for me. I have not met anyone outside my clan ever. So please bare with me and I hope we can get along."

He stood up straight and turned to the old man. He looked harmless but Pansa knew better than to judge him on outward experience. His master was too an old man. An old man who could kick his ass and 20 other similiar warriors simultaneously.

"And you are?"

Leandor stepped backed over towards Mav ready for the backlash of his actions. Leander bowed towards Mavndrus. "I was only looking out for your safety prince, it was safer to apologize then cause a fight with that man." Mav stepped up to Leandor pushing him upwards. "Stand up you imbecile you've bowed down and embarrassed me enough." Mav said then he looked at the group moving towards the mine. He didn't want to travel with these fools but he had no choice . "Alright Leandor well concede this once." Mav and Leandor walked behind the group as they were about to enter the mine

Thiero Atrias

The shifting of a beast's form to human did not surprise him; nor did the physical attributes that remained in place afterward. In both forms, she was a beautiful creature, filled to the brim with pride and power that truly radiated from her being. When she asked for help finding another way in, Thiero bowed his head in a respectful way and drew his sword from the sheathe on his back. "Please allow me to accompany you," the elf requested, stepping closer to the obstructing boulder, "If there is treasure beyond this entry, I shall not take it from you-" Even if it was the treasure he so desperately sought out. "-and I won't accompany you if it hinders your journey." But he would still help.

That was often the most noticed difference between him and others; if it was their treasure beyond this threshold, they would take it from the woman without any hesitation. If she didn't allow them to accompany her, then they wouldn't help. Thiero - from the surface to his very core - was not like that. While he wanted nothing more than to get Ora back, he wouldn't betray his beliefs and his morals for it. Even if he did, he wouldn't be able to look her in the eye ever again; she would hate him for it, and the elf feared that the most.

Without waiting for a solid answer from Kokoro, he held the sword back over his shoulder and braced his back foot. For a short instance, the blade appeared to glow like the dawn before it was swung forward. A loud, thundering crack rang out against the earth of the desert and a split formed in the stone. After a pause - as if the boulder itself was taking a breath - the two halves fell away, crashing against the ground as separate pieces. Thiero returned the sword to his sheathe and turned slightly to view the tigress.

Sientrus Wayne

The response of both sent a twinge through his form, though not noticeable from an outside eye. "I apologize," spoke the king, straightening up, "I was only trying to be respectful." Whether or not the encounter itself was "pleasant" was of no concern to him, as it was only polite and courteous to greet an individual in such a way. Unfortunately the kind intention behind the gesture had gone unnoticed. Oh well. He looked between the two, the hand that was initially over his heart moving to his hood. Fingers laced the fabric and he was tempted to bring it up again. "What brings you both to the area?" Sientrus asked, a light smirk crossing his elegant features, "Feel free to fib."

@Psithurism //sorry for shortness

Kokoro Himura
Kokoro looked back at the boulder as it was split in half, a bit awed by the power that had come from the sword-wielding elf. I could certainly use a strong ally, she reasoned, though she wasn't certain she should trust the man. After all she had been through, trust was hard to come by. Still, it was in her nature to give others the benefit of the doubt, and while this trusting nature could come back to harm her one day, she could not let an opportunity like this go by -- especially not with her younger siblings' lives on the line.

Still feeling pressed for time, and wanting to hurry on into the tomb, the girl didn't let her mind waver for long, coming to a decision rather quickly. "Thank you for your help, I appreciate it greatly," she started, a grateful smile on her face, though her eyes looked almost sad. "I would appreciate the company, if you would like to join me, but I have to warn you that the treasure I seek may or may not exist," the tigress looked back towards the now open entrance to the tombs, "and if it does, many others are sure to be after it." After a moment's silence, the girl closed her eyes, let out a small sigh, and said in a soft whisper, "All I need is one wish," her words were spoken to herself, though she did not care if the elf overheard.

Brightening up her expression, the girl turned back to face the elf, her sad, bright blue eyes looking him over. "Let me introduce myself. I am Kokoro Himura, of the Seher Oasis," the girl bowed towards the elf, the end of her tail twitching slightly, as she was feeling the need to hurry on.

Cynbal Dangrol

Cynbal chuckled at the mans offer. "Ah but honesty is more exciting. I am following a myth. Out of pure curiosity." He told, dipping his head. "And that is no fib." A smile etched on his face. Cynbal did not find any reason to lie. So why not tell the truth. It did shake him that the man would approach and ask such blunt questions to random strangers. But it was in his expirience what many thought to be pleasent.

Eri Zabelan

Eri listened to Cynbals answer and closed her eyes with a smile. "My answer is similar. Although the thing I search are the people searching." Her answer was simple and true. Yet her sentence did not seem fully complete. Leaving out a small bit of information, but that information not important for the moment. Maybe it would be fun to join these two to find what she is looking for. Or even more of what she is looking for. @Hoki

❀❀❀ Unila Crys-Feathri ❀❀❀

Unila was strangely quiet throughout the various events that took place. Visions repeatedly attacked her mind, despite how long it had been. She couldn't concentrate. Sighing lightly, she reached for the plum in her satchel, and munched on it quietly, the sweet taste reviving her spirit. Her eyes lit up in the darkness, a blazing red, as she struggled to remember the events that took place. A father and daughter, a prince and his servant/guard, a subtle fight. She traced her hand along the mine's walls, as thoughts came together. Looking behind her, an array of gems littered the floor. They could do so much for the people stuck in poverty. Yet there they are. Carelessly thrown onto the barren ground. Shaking her head, she returned to her energetic spirit with a little slap to the face. Come on Unila, get it together.

Smiling brightly, she excitedly ran towards Geir and jump-hugged him. "Gear~Are you feeling okay~?" Perhaps this was a bit much, but she required someway to escape her negative emotions. It's how she's always lived. Looking over his shoulder, a steep drop fell into view. She couldn't make out many details, especially because of the distance and lighting in the area, but it was scarily dark. Much too dark for comfort. She shivered slightly, but not of fear, of excitement.

Lani nearly jumped out of her skin when Geir pointed out what she should have already known, that as Dragon the bear would have been more scared of her. Thinking quickly as she walked along next to the man, tailing after her dad who had noticeably perked his ears up to listen to her response, Lani shrugged.

"Yea, well, you know how it goes, I'm tiny, bear is big, and you know that whole thing about backing animals into corners? I was in it's escape route, so I guess it felt it had to attack." she responded smoothly. It was, after all, technically how it went down and Lani continued whilst shrugging, "I'm not really a fighter anyhow. I fight if I have to, but I prefer words to settle things."

Minutes later had seen to Eihrodeign leading their way into the tunnels, the Dragons keen eyesight easily picking the right path through the darker areas of the cave. Overall, despite the company kept, the elder Drake wasn't overtly worried about too much trouble. The worst they would see it would be if Mavndrus got angry again, as Leander seemed to know enough of him to calm the child prince. That did have him wondering, however, what Leander knew of him.

Was it recent news, hearsay of his travels and the exploits therein of such as defeating groups of bandits, or deposing a martial law run town, or was Leander a history buff, recounting one of the many lives Eihro had led? His twenty years as supreme commander of an army was just over a century old, but he had encountered a few that knew of it, or was he a deep history buff, recounting his similarities to a far more aggressive totalitarian ruler that had conquered near a hundred towns six centuries ago, long enough that many had paid it little heed nowadays.

Looking back Eihro surmised it was more than likely that Leander knew one of his more recent activities versus learning of his long past live, and the Dragon knew he'd only know more by asking, "So, Leander. You mentioned you knew of me. I'm curious as to what you've heard. It is always an enlightening experience to learn of how people view you half a world away. Lets you know which traits stand out the most, and what you may need to work on."

Listening to her father address the prince's guard, Lani looked back just in time to see Ila-for-short noticeably perk up and practically jump on Geir. It didn't surprise the hybrid at all though, as she had figured they'd known each other at least before herself and her father had stumbled across them. At the same time there was movement in a tiny crevasse of the cave in between the group and the underground cliff as an angry looking goblinesque creature came lurching out, easily standing at the height of an average man.

Giving an unimpressed snort Eihro reached up to pull his sword from his back only to hear an audible clunk. It didn't take a genius to figure out that Eihro's massive form was far too close to the ceiling of the cave to allow him to draw the blade, and as the gobin-thing cackled maniacally and pulled a wicked looking sickle out Eihrodeign lifted both hands as if to say he was surrendering. It wasn't until the creature stepped forward that it realised its mistake, Eihro's right hand flying forward and grabbing it's face, slamming it into the left wall of the cave before reversing his grip and adding his left arm into the mix, using both hands to viciously force it's entire body to collide with the right wall. Dazed, the poor creature stumbled back about half a metre before Eihrodeing kicked forward, his foot colliding with the goblin's chest as if he were booting open a door.

The force was enough so that the little beast went careening back, head over heels and coming to a halt just on the edge of the drop, completely unmoving. For his part the Dragon gave an uncaring shrug and walked past the body as he followed the path to the left, realising that there was a stairway hewn int the rocks that would take them further down.

As Lani walked forward next, she nudged the creature with her foot a couple times before turning to face everyone else.

"I think he got it."

Then without a second glance the girl pushed it right off the edge of the drop and started making her way down the steps after her dad.

Geir shrugged at Lani's response, not overly concerned about it. "Words are okay for some things, but sometimes you'll have no choice but to fight," he responded, a bit solemnly. He didn't press the issue any further, though, instead just continuing ahead quietly, his gold eyes scanning his surroundings, glowing almost eerily in the dark. He briefly wondered how well the others could see. He could make a light source to make it easier to see, but the thought of the elf prince stumbling around in the dark was enough to keep him from doing so, as petty as it was.

The dragon was snapped out of his thoughts by a sudden weight on his back, throwing him off balance for a moment and causing him to stumble just a bit. "Eh?" A look of surprise was on his face as he regained his balance, looking back over his shoulder to look at Unila, who had her arms around him after her jump-hug. Well, this is new, he thought briefly, his face turning pink. He wasn't used to people hugging him, and, being the somewhat dirty-minded, the action had sent his mind straight to the gutter. "Ah, I'm fine, Ila-for-short," he reassured her, giving her a smile. The jump had rather distracted him from what was left of his anger, anyway.

Geir was about to say something else, when he heard a faint clanking sound, like wood clacking together. Turning his attention forward again, he noticed a goblin-like creature jump out in front of Eirho.
Ah, I knew being up front would be inconvenient, he thought, not overly concerned about the large dragon. When Eirho proved to be too large to wield his sword in the tight confines of the mines, Geir instinctively reached up to grab his own swords from his back, only to realize that he couldn't really get to them with Unila on his back. Oh well, looks like this one is up to the old guy, he didn't seem too concerned as his hand dropped back down to his side. He watched as the large dragon practically annihilated the goblin creature, hearing cracking like the breaking of bones as the creature fell to an unmoving heap on the ground, then was kicked off the ledge by Lani. "Yeah, I'd definitely say so," Geir responded to the air dragon's comment, walking forward a bit to peer down the hole that the creature was kicked down. Something seemed off, as he could have sworn he heard laughter coming from somewhere further into the mines, but it was faint enough that he could have just been imagining it.

Letting it go for now, he turned to walk down the stairs, which led further into darkness. Even the keen eyesight of a dragon would start to have trouble seeing down here. "Need a light?" Geir asked, not waiting for an answer before several teal-colored balls of flame appeared, looking like will-o-the-wisps as they moved ahead to light the way down the mine. The flames glowed bright, but the darkness still seemed to overwhelm them in this place. Still, they did make it possible to see the path, and shed some light on the surrounding area. It seemed that the miners had previously left this area in a hurry, as several picks and carts lay abandoned on the ground near some mineral deposits, covered by dirt from disuse. "Hm, interesting..." Geir muttered to himself, gold eyes taking in his surroundings.

The blue-haired girl was rather astute, wasn't she? ". . . You are far from the first to have pointed that out," Vanathell retorted, though his tone was a bit subdued. It hardly seemed of consequence to her, however--or, at least, she hadn't exactly condemned him for it. Of course, that might have had something to do with her own questionable magical practices?

"By 'dessicated corpse', I meant these ruins, actually--" Although it was hardly a far cry from describing his own state of being, "--but as for what I have to gain, well, I'm not exactly a spry young man anymore. I've already run afoul of a few monsters myself, and I would prefer not to be picked to pieces alone, or at all, really."

Vanathell folded the parchment and held it to his side, waiting patiently as the blue-haired girl stepped back to discuss his offer with one of her allies. His mossy eyes flickered back to the other pair--wait, where had the second gone? One of the two had vanished in those few moments of distraction, and the lich tightened his grip on the torch subconsciously, suddenly wary. He didn't much care for those who could slip out of the playing field so easily. Knives in the dark were poisonous things.

But the elven girl, who had stepped more into view, was still talking to someone, and her companion was responding, so at least Vanathell could hear his voice. No intent to attack, then. Good.

It took the mage a second to realize that he was being spoken to again, and he turned his head towards the brunette the blood mage had been speaking to. At the mention of having not shown his face, he couldn't help but laugh--a harsh, raking sound more akin to a cough than laughter, really--and gestured to the hood. "Believe me, boy, you don't want that. Life hasn't been kind to me, so to speak. Point of discomfort for me.

"As for the map, what point would there be in an old man using a false map to lure some young adventurers to their doom?" Vanathell challenged, his voice as calm as if they were discussing the weather. "It'd be damn foolish of me to make a fake map I've been using for quite a while now and need to rely on it in a moment of senility, don't you think? But, if you don't trust it, then don't rely on it. It is the most useful thing I have to offer, which I offer on friendly terms." He shrugged.

His eyes glanced over to the shadowy young male near the she-elf, relieved he was finally in sight enough to be distinguished from the shadows. "Hm. I suppose I've been improper, haven't I? My name is Vanathell." Well, that's what it was currently, at any rate. It was getting harder to remember his true name with each change over the years. . . . "But simply Van will do."
