Fantasy The Final Masquerade | Volume: ONE

Akira laughed. "Nice try." She said, smirking, "But it is going to take a lot more to capture Little Red.". She smiled. "I already told you. You seemed mad, and trust me, having a mad leader is not a good thing. I know from experience. Plus, I don't like seeing people sad." She said, looking at him. "I guess I looks scary, but I am really not that scary."

"Capture? What do I look like, a predator?" He snickered. "You not too scary, even with the mask. You just remind me of a little girl honestly. Not saying that you probably are more than that, a potential killer? I assume that's why you signed up for this whole trip in the first place." He smiled at her.

"Leader?" He had never been called that before. "Well that's a new one."

Akira nodded. "I am a potential killer. Crescent Rose isn't some playtime toy. It's a combination sniper rifle and scythe, built to destroy." She said, her hands touching the weapon hanging on the back of her dress. She smiled. "Well get used to it, you are our leader now." She said with a smile. She liked this kid. He is going to be a great leader.

*Slam* Shortly after the two of them had entered the woman at the counter smacked the innkeepers head into the wood of the tabletop, promptly rushing out, one of the bars stools in hand. "So much for introducing myself.." Turning to Terra with an apologetic expression "I didn't expect the place to be so rowdy tonight" Standing up he headed over to the counter, throwing enough coin for a small room and speaking to the innkeeper quickly, calling over to Terra before he headed upstairs "I'll be off now, have a nice stay Terra" Giving her a wave as he headed upstairs.

"Alright and thanks." She waved back at him. She went to the innkeeper and paid for a small room. She went up the stairs to her room. She sat on her bed and stretched out her arms and fell back against the bed. She thought about everything that happened today and the people she met. They all seemed really nice then she thought about her father. She really hoped she was doing the right thing. Also she was nervous she new how to fight but she wasn't really big on killing. She got under the covers, closed her eyes and fell asleep. Ready to start a totally new life.

As Torre slept like a log, unable to be woken without either a deafening sound or violent shaking, he dreamt of when he was younger, having a conversation with his mother. It was at the castle's fireplace, the room nice and toasty. He did not know why she had called for him at such an hour, since it was already near his bedtime. His mother was sitting on a luxury chair, by the fireplace.

"Torre, I have some important questions for you," his mother informed, as soon as he had entered. "It is about your personal outlook on values and chivalry. As well as your feelings upon other's opinions." This was a new exercise that mother had asked him to think about; for he had always just accepted whatever was told to him, without much critical thinking on his part up until now. Still, he was willing to rise to this challenge.

"I am more than willing to answer such questions, mother," he replied, sitting on the luxury chair next to his mother's.

"Excellent. Now tell me, my son; do you believe in God?"

"I am told to within the values of chivalry, am I not, mother?"

"Yes, but do you truly believe there is an omnipotent being; one that loves mankind and has created heaven and hell?"

"I... am not sure, mother. The world has so much evil being able to freely do evil, kindness being trampled on... Even father, why would God make him die before I was born? If there is a god... I do not think he is benevolent, or omnipotent."

"Ah, your father would have said the same thing..."

"So what must I have complete faith in, if not for God, mother?"

"That is simple, my dear child. It may not be absolute, but you just have to have faith... in women."

"In... women, mother?"

"Yes, Torre. Realize that without women, you would not be standing here, nor would humanity exist. As you perfect your sword, they perfect many more skills, vital for living. As a man, you were given a naturally stronger body, and it is your duty to protect your other half."

"Okay, mother. I shall try to always remember that. But... what if two women are fighting? Whom should I protect?"

"Firstly, the one you are closest to. If neither is, try to pacify the situation. If you cannot, do not interfere, but aid the overall loser of the fight."

"I understand. But what about when... a women is trying to kill someone, a woman or a man? Or a man trying to kill a women?"

"Ah... Killing is a grave matter, Torre. No two cases are exactly alike. There is no true right or wrong with dealing such a matter. Try to avoid it at all costs, but if it has to be done..."

"What do I do, mother?"

"You must learn the motive for the killing. Every slaughter had a reason, be it revenge, a duel, or just sick enjoyment for the activity. It is up to you to decide if you wish to support the killing, or not. To intervene or not. Just remember that there is whatever choice you choose, it is the one you wholeheartedly agree with."

"I will, mother, I will..."

"I was never the leader...or follower type. I've always pretty much been on my own. This is gonna take some getting used to..." Julian sighed, then yawned. "It's getting late, you should get going home, where ever home is." Julian smiled.
Julian parted ways with his red-hooded friend after bidding farewell and, after a lot of thinking, looked up and found himself in the Salvation town park. "Hm." He hummed with a slight smirk. He remembered playing here with his parents. Ghostly visions of his mother pushing him on the swing and his father chasing him around haunted his sight as he made his way through the now rundown park playground.

The mist of midnight rolled in, illuminated slightly by the street lamps. The sound of his footsteps and the occasional clinging sound of the blade of his sword hitting the pistols on his back where the only sound that accompanied his ears in the darkness of the night.

Julian settled on making a park bench his bed for the night. He didn't sleep much, the voice of his red-hooded friend, Akira, calling him a leader worried him. 'What if someone dies on my watch? What will I tell their family?' He tried to think of ways to tell people just in case someone in the guild died on his watch, 'I'm so sorry that they died trying to help me get revenge on my mom...' was not a sufficient answer he thought of. At some point, he fell asleep to dream of nothing but darkness and silence.

---January 2nd, 2104---

Julian was awoken by the feeling of falling. "AH!" He yelled as he awoke to find himself in a puddle of mud. Young children stood over him laughing. They had flipped the bench causing Julian, his backpack, his sword, and pistols to dump into the puddle of mud. The children's parents stood off in the distance, snickering about their children's actions.

"Funny!" Julian yelled to the parents.

"Yes, funny how the 'Prince' is sleeping on a park bench!" One of the parents yelled back. Their children kept laughing.

'I should just kill the parents right in front of their kids...show them what it's like in my shoes...no...' Julian thought, picking up his guns first. He held himself back form the very easy trigger pull it would take to get this unnecessary revenge. "Have a great day..." Was all he could muster as he picked up the rest of his items and made his way out of the park.

Julian needed a shower, he made his way through the forest to the hot springs that he'd usually use to take showers. Once their, he cleaned off his equipment, then his clothes, then himself.

Terra had just woken up. She open her eyes, sat up, yawned and stretch out her arms. Well it was time to get up she wondered how the day would go. She got up and washed up and headed out the room and down the stairs.

Sage jolted awake, her head just lightly banging the side of the metal compartment, "Ow..." she mumbled while rubbing the small bump that developed. Now eager, she threw the blanket and pillow away and walked her robot down to the docks. Sighing, she hopped out and powered Deathbot down, holding onto it's right leg to show it was her's and her's alone. Now to just wait patiently for them all.

Terra went up to the docks. She didn't really see anyone but a girl and a robot? She walked up to her and said "Hey."

"Hello! I came because of the poster, I'm assuming you too?" Sage smiled, patting the large robot's leg. "I'm Sage Greenwood, but some call me The Mechanical Shadow."

"I'm Terra Evermore. And yah that's why I'm here too." She looked at the robot it was pretty cool. "Like the robot you build it your self?"

"Yes, took me 11 years. I started buildin' DeathBot when I was 8 and finished it up yesterday." She giggled softly, but didn't mean to brag about her robot. Sage leaned against the sturdy metal legs of the large machine and waited for the rest.

"Wow nice my father runs big weapon companies but I don't think I've seen any like this. This really impressive." She looked around still didn't see anyone. "So why did you sign up for this?"

"I overheard people talkin' of this Land of Wonders and decided to check it out... Well an I hate the thought of having [a] King[/Queens]," she responded blandly. Fixing her purple cardigan over her knees, she flicked some loose blonde locks from her eyes.

Vivian opened her eyes, sunlight pouring into the shattered glass window next to her hammock. She shielded her eyes, rolling out of her bed and onto the floor, staying there for a few moments before standing up, stretching her arms. The girl picked her clothes up from the table in the corner of the room - which was just about the only furniture in the shack other than the hammock - and got dressed before heading out the door, sword strapped to her back with a belt.

It wasn't long before Vivian had made her way back to the inn from the night before, flashing the owner - poor Georgie, with a bandage around his head - a toothy grin as she headed upstairs.

The redhead was silent as she stepped into Torre's room, apart from the occasional snickering as she crept up to the bed. The young man looked silly, sleeping with his scarf wrapped around his head like a cocoon. Is it hard to breathe in there? she wondered, circling around to the his side. After inspecting him for a little while longer, Vivian calmly stepped up onto the bed, lightly bouncing on it with her feet as she stood over him. She crossed her arms and sucked in her breath. "Riiiiiiise and shiiiiiine!" she sang, her bouncing turning more into jumping as she let out a giggle.

"Same here plus I found out my father was helping the queen/king by building weapons for them to use." She hated that her father was on the other side. She wished it could be different.

"Oh, that has to suck! Say, wonder if these others wake up early..." The girl pondered for a moment, but only moved her arms behind her head as a pillow.

"Yah I thought more people would be here by now." She looked around but still didn't see anyone. "So how old are you?"

"Nineteen years old, and yourself? If I may ask that is; they'll show up eventually, they just gotta wake up." She closed her eyes for a few moments, hoping time would fly by and everyone would appear out of thin air.

"Not really, I got this death trap here and we have plenty of people to protect each other," she sighed softly, it was a little boring with only one person in the docks with you.

"Hey so does that DeathBot of yours talk?" It be pretty cool if it did. She wondered how it would sound. She looked up at it and just realizing how big it was.
