Fantasy The Core of Power

"Oh SHIT!" Erin startled, twisting around to look behind her- thinking Vittra had come in the back way. But then that wouldn't make sense if she were asking to come in. Erin turned around again, not seeing anyone and had the brief panicking moment that Vittra had become a ghost. Getting ahold of her self, Erin began to circle around slowly- looking for any clue of Vittra's location.

"Yeah the nights been... weird." Erin said, her voice unfocused. "And... sure you can come in... " And then Erin spotted the softest wisps of smoke drifting by the window... and wondered if that's where Vittra was. She didn't know the full extent of the girl's powers.. but she supposed it was possible, right? "Um, the door is unlocked. And if you're coming through the window, watch out for the broken glass."

"Did you discover anything of interest?" Erin asked as she waited for Vittra to become visible.

(Crap, my notifications were turned off. Sorry for not responding for so long, but I've read through what happened so i should be up to date!)

Asher walked through an alley, kicking an empty can. His life would be boring until one of his contacts tipped him off on any nearby anti-mutant groups. But, that was most of his life: boring. With an exasperated sigh he stepped out of the cramped alley and examined the street before him.

Just minutes beforehand, he had heard the shrill sound of multiple police sirens, but they were nowhere to be seen. Although he did notice some blood in the street, as well as a few empty bullet casings. Frowning, Asher stooped and picked one up, sniffing it. It didn't have the distinct smell of of a typical police sidearm- must have been whoever they were following. He laughed to himself; he was so used to this life he could tell the difference of bullets by their smells.

He turned to leave, heading down the street, but stopped when he felt something crunch under his boot. A confused look slowly spread across the villain's face. Broken glass coated the sidewalk like a carpet. Asher pulled off his frequency reducers, crouching again to look at the window above him. There were no bullet casings nearby to suggest it was shot out. His eyes slowly traveled around the street, seeing broken windows and glass fragments everywhere. Someone clearly had fun here, without him. A voice sounded from above him in the building. With a hiss he stood, walking away from the building, hoping he wasn't seen.

Ella watched as suddenly someone came up to Damion and grabbed him. The culprit was the medic of the Caverns, also known as Iris. Ella watched as Iris took Damion to the infirmary room the group was going to be staying in for the night. Ella quickly, with the help of Chainsnake, followed Iris until they reached the infirmary room. Damion was already asleep on a bed when Iris supported Outbreak into a bed and then did the same for Ella. Then Ella spoke as Iris brought out a cart with food trays on them.

Ella spoke in a guilt like tone, "Pro. Iris so great to see you buddy. It was nice of you to drop in o-"

"Drop in? Ella you know as much as I do that I did not simply drop in." Iris paused and finished handing out the plates. Then she began inspecting people, starting with Outbreak. "My god Ella, I thought you said this was just another run of the neck supply run."

Ella looked down and twiddled her fingers. "Well that's what I thought it was going to be, but then there were some complications and -"

"Yes I can see there were complications, I mean look at this poor boy. You should be lucky you have me around Ella," Iris pulled out a pair of scissors and started cutting off Outbreak's shirt. "Oh my dear boy, you should be lucky your still alive, other wise I might've not been able to help you."

Iris then whistled and immediately two other mutants were behind her. As if they shared one brain, one of the mutants poured a rubbing alcohol and water solution on outbreaks wounds while the other scrubbed them down. Then Iris looked at Ella and said, "Ella he will need blood after I fix evrything alright? I am going to say O- most likely."

Ella frowned understanding what Iris meant. "Yeah yeah sure thing Iris, I get working on it. Also Chainsnake, Sentinel, Dash, and cricket, we may be here for a bit so dig in if your hungry." Ella then finished off the meal she had been eating and lied on the bed with her eyes closed. Ella then began the progress of manipulating her blood type, which for her is a very tiring and long process.

"Why thank you. Just move it a bit to the left, and I'll be right with you." It was a pretty daring leap she was about to make; about eight feet from standstill and then she had to avoid ripping herself into shreds on the blade-like shards of glass still sitting in the window-frame. But she was confident she'd make it, after all, her years in gymnastics had provided her with all the slak and vitality she needed for a stunt like this. And as soon as Erin was out of the way, Valerie made the jump. In a puff of smoke she appeared from nothingness and become completely visible in mid-air. She flew through the air and made it through the window without touching as much as a single shard before she nimbly landed on her feet in the room.

She put her feet together and made a bow with her arms stretched out, just like she had done when finishing a routine during gymnastics. Of course, this time she awaited no applause, but instead turned to Erin. "And to answer your last question, yes I did! Didn't stay around to find out too much though, but there are more parties involved than one might first have thought." She was going to take a step forward, but her head was spinning again and she had a slight stumble till she found the sofa, which she grabbed hold of in order not to fall. She steadied herself before continuing: "Damn... So anything new on this end?" She looked around, to see if she could spot Conner inside the appartment as well.

Nick watched at Iris began to work on Outbreak. "Um, I'm not sure if you will need them," he said, "but here are the bullets he was shot with." He coated his hand in metal and created enough of a magnetic field to cause them to seemingly levitate just inches from his hand. He found a free space where they would be out of the way and let them rest there. Without another word he began to eat.

Barry was laid down on a bed and he watched the others go eat. Damn...I wish I could go get some. He watched as Iris started tending to the wounds that he had. Barry wondered if the wounds were as bad as she said they were. Instictively, he would have his virus disrupt his own nerves. The ones that sensed pain. A lot like a biological pain killer. But of course, they did nothing to stop exhaustion and he was very exhausted. Barry looked at the others place alcohol in the holes in his flesh. For moment, Barry let go of his pain nerves, just out of curiosity and he quickly regretted it. A wave of pain that felt like a hive of wasps were stinging him in one spot at the same time, and he groaned from the shock. He quickly closed off his nerves again and the pain disappeared. He still had a tingling sensation where the pain was though. Barry looked at Iris and Ella. He would have been screwed if not for them.

"I guess I should thank you for your help. You too Sentinel. I owe you my life," he said with a grateful smile. Life to Barry was precious. It's why he's always stayed so hidden. He feared what the government would do to him if he ever got caught. To live was everything to him. Barry was not afraid to kill if anyone threatened him. But it was always him alone. Now he was in debt to the three of them and he decided that he'd give his life for them as well. It wasn't anything personal for him, but Barry felt obligated to do this. The smell of food interrupted his thoughts as he looked over at the others eating. God that looks great.

The door closing was loud enough to insert itself in Conner's dream, if not loud enough to wake him. The sound of voices, however, most definitely was. It was quite annoying, actually, seeing as he was trying to sleep and all. Actually trying for stealth, hopefully succeeding, he rolled the sleeping bag back up, watching as Vittra came through the window, eyes open just a crack.

He stayed seated, and when Vittra started looking around, he lightly threw the sleeping bag at her, allowing his displeasure at being woken up to show clearly on his face.

"Some people are trying to sleep," he mumbled, though it sounded more like gibberish than anything else, and he found himself drifting off again, fighting to stay awake until the others fell asleep, hoping that would be soon so he could finally sleep undisturbed.

@RubyRose @Wavebird

"Look, you don't owe me anything" Nick said. "I just couldn't;t let you die, simple as that." He finished off his food and sat there for a moment with his leg bouncing up and down. "I'm going for a walk." He stood up and left the room. It wasn't long before he ran into a pair of mutants; a boy and a girl. He nodded at them as he started to pass, but the male grabbed him. Before he could react he was held in a rather tight grip. Then the girl touched him and he disappeared into a plain grey room with a window and no apparent door. Then she was gone with only a slight whiff sound and he was left into the room alone. He quickly equipped his armor and started looking for a way out.

Back at the Caverns the male, who had terrakinesis (control of the earth), entered the room with everyone else and coated himself in rocks. he stood blocking the door and even closed it off with the earth its self. Then the female started popping in and out, taking others to the same place as Sentinel.

(Just let this happen. I'm giving you time to react, but go along with this) @Jabrark @rapjack123 @rosamortelle @Azure Sky

There was a firm knock on the apartment door, but it was more of a curtsy before it was broken open and several armed soldiers flooded the room. "We are going to need you to come with us" one of them said. "The entire building is surrounded, so don't even try and run."

@Wavebird @RubyRose @mikaluvkitties @Rook

Asher cursed, hearing a sudden burst of movement from the building. He amplified the sounds coming from it, and the sound of combat boots running around assaulted his ears. The villain turned to run, but someone grabbed him from behind. His struggles were in vain- they were stronger than he was, and they took his frequency reducers, so he couldn't protect himself from his own powers.

Why did they have to catch him now, before he could make a name for himself? His goal was to simply be known as the villain Chorus, but the military had other plans. Slowly, the boy stopped struggling, choosing to find a way to escape later on rather than now. Besides, he might make some useful allies.

Ella who was in what she called power comatose was unaware of what was happening around her. At the moment Ella's body had shut down all unnecessary components of her body to add extra energy into her heart, lungs, brain, and her blood stream. So basically when Ella was moved to the room she was still in her comatose. it would be awhile until she woke back up. This worried Iris when they transported her to the room as well. Iris, as well as the rest of the leadership knew, if Ella was awoken from her comatose grave things would happen. So as soon as Iris calmed herself down she immediately pulled Ella behind her and the one she was treating in front of her. Then Iris said, "What is this place?"

Barry watched hungrily as Sentinel walked over to his food. Then he saw two mutants walk over to him. Suddenly, he vanished. Barry's eyes widened. What the hell? he thought. Then the girl mutant reappeared, but no Sentinel. That's when she walked over to him. He felt fear creep up inside him. She put on a gas mask. Damn I can't defend myself! he began to panic. These people were gonna take him too. Barry suddenly sat up, a little too quickly too, because he felt a wave of dizziness come about. The mutant approached him and grabbed his arm. "Take your hands OFF me you bastard," he said, deadly cool, his virus shooting up and down her body, looking for someway to infect then but to no avail. Then they took him.

Barry dropped to the floor with a thud. Sentinel was standing by him. Barry was panicked. What were they going to do? He looked up at the others, an insane look of fear lit in his eyes. Barry didn't want to go back to the cell.

Erin fought against a snicker when Conner threw his sleeping bag at Vittra. Yep, Erin was definitely running on fumes at this point- she needed to get some sleep. She listened intently, however, to what Vittra had to say... she wondered what those other mutants were up to. And then there was a firm knocking at the door before people allowed themselves inside.

"Who's running?" Erin asked though her heart was pounding. Who were these men? Were they taking them to jail? Erin forced herself to relax, smiling over at Vittra and Conner. "Come on guys, sounds like we're needed elsewhere." She said cheerfully though her heart speed was beginning to pick up. How much trouble were they in, really?

@Wavebird @mikaluvkitties @Shog

"If I knew that I wouldn't be trying to smash this window, now would I?" Sentinel said a bit too harshly. He took a deep breath and said "Sorry. That was uncalled for." He looked at everyone popping in and the girl popping out. "There is no way they are not military. I just wonder why they want us. Ok, so I know why they want me and Outbreak, but the rest of you? You weren't even there!" Just then Cricket popped in with a dazed look on her face. "Hey Cricket, do you think you can try and find cameras? Where's Dash?"

"He tried to make a run for it" she replied. "He soon found a stone wall in his face and is trying to run circles around them. He won't last too much longer like that." No sooner had she finished speaking that Dash was teleported in. He was laying unconscious on the ground with a bleeding gash on his head. Both Sentinel and Cricket instantly ran to his side. Sentinel covered his wounds with some metal to stop the bleeding. "All I want to know is why," Sentinel whispered.

"Hey!" Valerie shouted out with a smile as the caught the sleeping bag thrown at her by the sleepy Conner. "I didn't see you th-..." She was interrupted by the knock on the door. Her heart skipped a beat, for some reason she felt that this knocking couldn't possibly mean anything good. As the door was bust open, Valerie took a step back. As she counted the amount of armed men that had just poured into the apartment she realised that she couldn't do anything to help the situation. Defeat was a fact, so she gave up without a fight. Her heartbeat raced as she forced herself to ask trying to sound cocky as she did (but in fact she was about to burst into tears, the act helped her control herself) "Where're we going?" She sighed and started imagining all the horrible things that would come to pass in her future now that she was caught.

Vittra catching the sleeping bag was a bit of a letdown, but oh well. She was smiling, though, so he guessed it didn't upset her. She started to say something when there was a substantial knock on the door. Conner was tired enough that his first thought was, I didn't realize Erin invited people over. Then the door came down with a loud bang and he jumped up as men swarmed into the apartment. He wasn't quite scared, and he tried to examine them without being too obvious, not getting much besides big. They were big, though, much bigger than him, and then they were talking about trying to run. He didn't understand why he would even try to run- the window could work, but that would involve getting to it, and they seemed like they might not be able to move as fast, but then what? Where would they go? Would they even be able to do it safely?

Conner paused for a second, reevaluating his thoughts. They? He guessed he was looking out for them without thinking about it. Besides, they had the building surrounded (But what if they don't?) and that would make it pointless anyways. Erin asked who was running, and Conner nodded slightly from the corner, and then Vittra asked where they were going, which was really a rather smart question. He'd wait for their answers before doing anything else.

''Damn, if I knew this would happen I would have refused coming here'' thought to himself Byron. He was still disguised as Chain Snake so he belived he still had a chance to escape. ''Maybe I should kill these soldiers'' he continued to think to himself. He just had to quickly generate a lot of chains and strangle every military member in sight before they could pull the trigger. ''But I should wait for a better moment'' he added still thinking to himself.

Many thoughts came to his head. How should he deal with them? Completely restrain them with chains, strangle them, steal their weapons or simply hit or grab their testicles with the chains? The last option was really unconventional and unmanly, but still... he had to survive. He continued to think, pretending to be asleep.

Damion continued to sleep, but was awoken by sudden screaming. He rose immediately to find himself in a new area, a room resembling an infirmary. When he turned his attention to the sounds surrounding him, he heard absolutely nothing, which was unnerving in its own way. He must have dreamed about Katie again; what he would give to have her back. The clock next to him said 7:34 P. M.; his slumber was much shorter than he expected, but he felt well rested. He rotated off of the bed and got to his feet to head over to the cafeteria to have an actual meal. The last time Damion ate something genuinely food was back when he lived in that apartment, which lasted for perhaps a month before Mutant protesters drove him out yet again. He could never say he despised them because he sincerely did not hate them, but he did feel a directed apathy toward them, considering them worthless of even a second of his time.

When Damion exited the room, he replaced his mask, fastened to the belt of his clothes, to his face as he felt a pressing silence that enveloped the corridors of the Sanctuary. He noticed while walking around that Sentinel's community had either evacuated from something, been acquisition while Damion was asleep, or had vanished entirely from existence, all in the course of a few hours. Damion was disturbed by this silence, and made sure to listen carefully to his surroundings and spreading extra paper molecules around to detect any foes. He released a small amount of paper from his feet to initiate a hover, eliminating any sound of his movement, rendering him audibly invisible, aside from those first few seconds of paper moving loosely under and around his feet. He continued into a four-way intersection in the hallway and heard an adequately audible footstep from behind him; he turned his head swiftly to look behind to find nothing, only to hear another footstep to his right, directly where his head was facing. Again, he saw nothing, and his paper felt nothing. He determined that this was either an illusion power or teleportation, meaning his opponent had the advantage in this environment. He turned forward, his mind numb with despair.

There was no method of pinpointing his target's location in a vast, unfamiliar area such as this, so he sought to protect himself. He released a good amount of paper from his body, fortified it, and created a whirling paper sphere around him, enough to where he could see outside, but nothing could get in or out of it successfully. Another footstep to his right and another forward, getting closer with each little tap. They were taunting him; Damion had no chance of victory even now and they knew it to every extent. Anything Damion tried would barely delay them for a second, and judging from their actions, they had all the time in the world. Seeing that not even a glimmer of hope revealed itself, Damion retracted the paper, reforming it to his own armor, then gave himself up.

"I can recognize when I'm defeated. Do what you will to me, but spare those who reside here. They have little to nothing to do with me, so they aren't involved," Damion pleaded, thinking he could save them. Damion had no idea that this enemy had already taken every member of the community, and he was all that remained in the entire complex. He felt a small hand pat his back.

"They're perfectly safe, and you'll be safe too. You'll be joining all of them so just be a good boy and don't fight back," a callous female voice replied, apparently a teenager, no older than maybe 15. How could such a young adversary possess such power, and what was she utilizing it for? Was this goal hers, or that of someone greater? Damion had no time to speculate before he found himself in the nauseating rush of teleportation. He managed to contain his stomach through adrenaline, but the inertia he felt was unlike anything he could imagine. This girl endured this constantly? What immense willpower and durability. The environment before him deformed from defined structure to a general buzz of his senses, forcing his eyes shut. It remained this way for a moment, then ended, leading to Damion opening his eyes to a gray room with only a window for a distinguishing feature. In this room, he discovered the entirety of Sentinel's community, including Sentinel himself, and Outbreak. When the sudden wave of nausea faded away slowly, he approached them, hoping that they discovered even trivial facts of this place.

"What a surprise to see you all here. When I woke up, I found that you had all left me alone in that big, lonely complex, but I would never have guessed you were all kidnapped by a jumping teen (referencing the book Jumper)," Damion teased, hoping to spark reaction from Outbreak, especially now that he had lost the ability to affect him, deadly so or not. Damion found it difficult to describe, but aggravating Outbreak was simply so enjoyable and fulfilling that it was like a drug to him. Outbreak's annoyance was his entertainment, but Damion knew when enough was enough, and he would make sure not to go past that point. Others have been through just as much, if not more than he himself had, so he had to remain considerate of their pasts.

The fact remained that while all of these mutants were taken by the girl, Damion went willingly, recognizing the futility in his resistance against someone with such adept skill and control of their power, meaning he was technically not taken, but escorted. Damion's first instinct in combat, and his new life, was to evaluate the situation and determine the chances of victory, as well as the methods of obtaining it. After this, he would proceed to either wear down the enemy with their vulnerabilities, or try to end it quickly to prevent them from using their strengths. Both were basic methods of battle that he used frequently when necessary, but his combat strategies were not restricted to these, as would be endangering to his rate of victory, and in turn, survival. If he saw that he had no opportunities for victory, he would build his ultimate defense, levitating himself and forming a sphere of multiple spiraling rings of paper together to prevent anything slower than a bullet from entering. If that resulted in failure or was pointless from the beginning, he attempted to flee the scene, and if that was impossible, attempt negotiation or pleading, either to strike a deal or make an opportunity for victory or escape. What a situation this was, for not even that to work. He failed strategically and he unforgivingly admitted to it.

(I think I over-empowered an NPC, but I don't think it's that big of a deal... (.___.) yet. XP)

Damion was the last to appear in the box. He commented something about the mutant that took them, but he couldn't concentrate on that. In fact he really couldn't concentrate at all. Outbreak remained, on the outside, as calm as can be, but on the inside, he was getting increasingly paranoid. This felt like he was in his cell all over again and this time there's a whole bunch of other people, most of which he didn't even know. His eyes darted around his surroundings, observing, looking for any clue he could escape. After about a minute he decided that this wasn't calming his nerves. Maybe having a conversation would distract him? Outbreak doubted it but to be frank, he really didn't have a whole lot to do anyway.

"Finally up, Sleeping Beauty?" He told Damion but he really wasn't in the mood for arguing. He turned to Sentinel, "Where are we?" Iris was trying to wake Ella from some sort of state of meditation. That was a problem because being that the mutant that took them was cared for by her, she could know crucial information about this mutant. Instead he just turned to Iris. "Who was she?" He asked, the tone in his voice suggested he needed an answer. Outbreak remained extremely watchful of any changes in the environment. His calmness, little by little, started to unravel as his paranoia started taking over. It slowly unhinged him and if it continued, he would eventually break, the same way it happened when he lost control in his cell.

Iris saw the bleeding boy that the metal mutant was trying to close the wounds for. With Ella still unconscious behind her, Iris looked at the group and gave them a command in a still very worried tone. "Quick, bring him to me I'll fix his wound in no time flat. Oh and its alright, were all freaking right now."

Iris noticed the scared look on the boy's face next to her and how it resembled hers. "Hey it's going to be okay alright there is nothing to worry about." - except Ella though- Iris thought to herself. Iris was glad that she had some spare glass with her for Ella when she woke, which hopefully would be soon. Until then Iris tried to hide Ella, by shoving her behind her and throwing her doctor's coat on Ella hoping no one would notice Ella. Looking at the worried boy again (outbreak), Iris grabbed his hand. "Honestly I have no Idea. I have treated many people in our safety, but I am afraid that I can't recall every face. Also the best thing to do right now is not freak out alright?"

Outbreak's absent response gave it all away; he was more disturbed by this than anyone else here. Damion categorized it as extreme claustrophobia, which revealed itself entirely soon after, and Damion determined this as the sign to act. He had to find a way out and get everyone out. If anyone could do it, Damion could, if he revealed his power. He was reluctant at first, and stood frozen for a moment to contemplate his actions, coming to the conclusion that it was worth it. At least they would all be saved. He signed audibly.

"I guess it can't be helped. Sentinel, I think I might be able to find a way out of here. Depending on exactly where we are, and what openings there are in the area, my power can find a place where air escapes and enters the room, and try to trace back any exits. Maybe this window could be used. Any ideas?" he inquired as he turned to Sentinel in all his armored glory. Observing his surroundings thoroughly before taking action, Damion realized that paper molecules proved ineffective in this situation, as the room was too big to cover with paper of that size and be able to detect anything. He would have to start with his ultimate defense, then spread it to every wall and hope to find holes in the room's seal.

Outbreak watched as Iris patched up the bleeding boy. Quietly, he limped away and went to the wall. He ran his hand on it. Outbreak put his forehead on the barrier that contained him. Iris told him not to freak out but despit his efforts, he was getting more and more exasperated. Outbreak wanted to get out, and needed to get out now. His sanity was leaking like water leaked from a dam. Outbreak's pathogens started to express his desperation as well. Unknowingly, his virus started to buzz angrily, swing through everyone and bouncing off the walls, looking for ways to get out. It was rather futile because they flew aimlessly around the room. Outbreak remained staring at the wall, with such a sickening feeling in his stomach he felt like he might lose his lunch. He stopped that from happening but his mental state was deteriorating more and more. Outbreak's breath grew ragged and fast. He looked at the window. Now wouldn't it be sweet if I busted that window and escaped? he thought. Outbreak didn't decide to do it because he knew it was reckless but that idea was very enticing. It was definitely a last resort. Then he looked at Damion, suddenly realizing how agitated his microbes were. He stifled their movement in a desperate attempt to hide his paranoia.

"We just needed make sure" the man said, still pointing his gun at the mutants in the apartment. A call came on his ear phone and he said "Yes, their ready for transport." The teleporting mutant appeared and grabbed the first mutant, specifically leaving (zombie power) for the last in case he had any questions. She also got a call saying they had another mutant (@Rook) that might be useful as well and she grabbed him as well. Soon enough everyone was in the grey room.

Asher shook his head a few times, trying to figure out what had just happened. Teleportation? Must have been a mutant. With a growl he kicked the wall, cursing to himself. Upon further inspection, he found that he wasn't alone. A few people were in the room with him, most likely mutants. He didn't recognize them, so he knew that none of his syndicate was here with him. That just made things even more complicated.

The villain sat down, resting his head against the wall. He could probably break the window with a high frequency sound, but without his frequency reducers, Asher would kill himself in the process. Then something occurred to him- he still had his violin. He pulled it off of his back and opened the case, inspecting it for any damage they might have caused. It was incredibly old, and worth a small fortune. Asher sighed in relief when his examination turned up nothing, and he put it back in its case.

Finally, he turned his eyes to the other mutants in the room. A few were unconscious, being tended by the others around them. He recognized the voices of the ones from the apartment, but chose to ignore them, and spent his time trying to memorize the different audible patterns each mutant had: footsteps, breathing, anything that would allow him to identify them in the future.

"If not, I'll reveal my power to you, simply for the fact that it's our best bet of escaping. If you're against it, I'll hold off for now, but I'm not going to back down if we run out of options," Damion explained to Sentinel. Outbreak looked like his screws were flying off, and it showed in his virus particles; he was in a panic. The claustrophobia was messing with his head, and they needed to get him out now before he had a mental breakdown.

Damion prepared the paper on his body to burst out, but before moving even an inch, himself or his paper, he waited for Sentinel's go. A team without leadership was as good as dead, regardless of how skilled they were. Teamwork and coordination is important, but having a centerpiece to direct cooperation was even more key than either.
