Fantasy The Core of Power

Outbreak looks at Sentinel make the metal bowl. He gives him a look of gratitude as he gets up and limps over to the trash can. He takes another bite of his sandwich and tucks a loaf of bread that he grabbed from the table under his arm while he puts on his hoodie. He grabs the trash can and limps back to Sentinel, finishing his sandwich and stuffing the loaf in his mouth as well.

"Here you go Sentinel," he said, handing him the trash can. His leg wound was really bothersome. It impaired his movement and it gave a dull feeling in his thigh erytime he took a step. No doubt he would have been in a whole world of pain if his virus hadn't been blocking his pain nerves. Which come to think of it, did this girl have something that she needed to give to him to help heal? Iris me mentioned it. He doubted it was possible now so he let that thought go. He turned his attention back to the girl as Sentinel tried to get her up to speed with what was going on.

Ella listened as Sentinel spoke. At first she was upset that Iris had left, but was glad that the Caverns would be safe as long as as they didn't do something stupid. Ella was also glad to hear that her leadership had been given immunity. Ella wouldn't know what to do without her old college friends and her now team of leaders if she came back from this core mission. However, what Ella didn't like was when Sentinel told her that wasn't going to be coming back. Yet at the same time Ella understood Sentinel's sacrifice and if it had been her she would have made the same decision for her loved ones' safeties. Still in a scratched tone, Ella spoke after Sentinel finished. "T-Thank you for the run Sentinel. I'm glad that I-Iris made the d-decisions that you say she did. E-even if it means I have to assist in the works of t-he...government to keep the deal. As for y-your family Sentinel, I promise to give Cricket and Dash as m-much care as you would for t-them. You can be reassured that they will be g-good hands.

Suddenly Ella felt a wave of nausea over come her, she immediately grabbed the trash can that Sentinel was holding and and stuck her head partially in it. Then when she 'puked' a few dark red glob like substances. When it touched the bottom of the can the glob became more like a thick sticky liquid with the slight smell of rusted iron. Removing her head from the trash can Ella wiped the remaining red substance on her lips off of her mouth. Then she smiled knowing that the last bit of the process was done. The substance that she had puked out was excess blood from her mutation process that did not change and somehow found its way to Ella's stomach. Ella really didn't know why that happened, but she just kind of went with it. Plus now that her stomach was empty, Ella began to feel quite famished. Ella also realized that the others just saw her puke blood and she had no idea how they would respond. "Heh, s-sorry about that guys. Thanks for getting the trashcan Outbreak, that could've been really messy," Looked as she saw Byron come over as well, "Hey Byron, glad you could join t-the party."

Chorus shook his head a few times, holding his stomach as he teleported to the next cell. He propped himself against the wall, holding back vomit. It was much harder the second time around... with a sigh, he opened his eyes, which had been squeezed shut. The room was dominated by a table, covered in layers of food. The nausea was slowly fading away, allowing him to feel his growling stomach. He grabbed an apple, looking it over for bruises, before taking a large bite. The juice ran down his throat, and he chewed slowly, savoring the flavor. He hadn't eaten in about 2 days, so this was a welcome gift, no matter who gave it to him.

He began running thoughts through his head, taking apart everything that had happened piece by piece. The government, who he had sworn never to work with, was blackmailing him. Everything about that seemed wrong, but he knew that they had good reason. Chorus wasn't exactly the best guy out there. He actually wanted to be known as a villain. He had always liked them more in the comics: the Joker and Batman, the Green Goblin and Spiderman. It was their sick sense of doing what they wanted, without feeling bad. He might have to change in order to work with this new team... if they didn't kill each other before the mission actually started.

The villain settled down on a seat, rolling back slightly. Most of the mutants in the cell had been teleported along with him. Outbreak and Sentinel, as he believed they were called, were crouching next to a girl who was throwing up into a trashcan. He raised an eyebrow, thinking that she was throwing up blood, but he ignored it. Seeing that she was eyeing the table, he picked up a plate covered with food and walked over to her, offering it. "You look hungry," he said. He mentally kicked himself, for his horrible social skills. "I mean, you were looking at the food and... sorry. I'm not very good at being friendly."

Outbreak was looking at the girl when she...puked blood? Outbreak almost gagged considering he had half a loaf of bread in his mouth. He decided that perhaps he would be done eating for a while... Thank the Lord that wasn't my hoodie... he thought. He watched a mutant walk up and offer a plate of food. Who the hell is this guy? Never seen him he pondered curiously. I think he's the one the monitor guy called Chorus. It was hardly a coincidence that his name was synonymous to sound. Outbreak concluded. He had his virus probe his body for any evident for signs of armor or the like. No such thing. Well the only organs of the body associated with sound are the ears and vocal chords. So they are probably centering his power and are vital to him. Outbreak thought, deducing information as he went along. Having briefly scanned his body for anything that could hamper his own power he recalled his microbes and sat down nearby. He decided he would be the first to speak to the group as a whole.

"So this is the dream team huh? The 'Chosen Ones'?" He joked rather cockily, although his amusement was subtly expressed in tiny smirk. Outbreak stopped for a moment. He was definitely not the leader type. He let those words float in the air. These are the people I'm supposed to work with...I doubt the monitor man expected us to be all friendly to one another by mashing us into this room he analyzed each of the members further. Noticing their clothes, what they looked like, acknowledging their personalities as shown in the Grey room earlier. Who argued, who stayed quiet. He then remembered that the monitor man did not give them immunity from the police during the mission. Outbreak internally exploded in rage, not letting a single ounce of it escape. How the hell am I...Me, the most wanted criminal in the US, supposed to move around and complete a job if the cops are gonna on my ass all day long! How is that going to help accomplish his goal which I voluntarily signed up for! Outbreak thought, looking at a bowl of grapes. He wasn't hungry anymore, but he grabbed one and popped it in his mouth for the sake of not being able to have a good meal in the past couple days. He wondered what they were going to do next

(Pretty much everyone was spoken to)

Nick looked up at Byron. "I never said how grateful I am" he said. "When you took Ella, you might have saved her life. Thank you for helping me out back there." He was about to offer his hand for a more formal introduction, but then Ella vomited what looked like blood. He wasn't quite sure how to react to this and decided it would be best not to question it. "I wouldn't worry too much about it" he said, turning his attention to Chorus. "I think Ella is the only one here so far that is good at being friendly."

"You think we are trying to kill you?" the monitor man said. "I thought I made it clear I did not want you dead. I openly admit these tactics are brutish and rushed, but I don't have time to invite you all over to tea and have a nice little interview. Your time is almost up, so chose soon. if you accept you can join your friends having a nice feast."

@Jabrark @RubyRose

"Well then, my decision is to decline your ever so impolite offer." Erin replied, shrugging. If they didn't want to kill them, would that mean that they'd just be released to go home? Erin liked the idea of that... just go back to the way things were. She would miss Conner a little bit, and Vittra, but perhaps this was for the best. It wasn't like Erin would really be any use anyway... and she didn't want to help people who took the option of an actual choice. Erin refused to back down on this one.

"I'm sorry to hear that" the man said. "I will have them prepare a nice cell for you." He didn't say another word to her. "What about you, paper boy? Still going to argue?" At this point he wasn't even going to hide his distaste for Damian. He was too over confident for his tastes and openly lied without any regard for the consequences it might bring.

Asher observed the boy who had addressed him. He was maybe a year younger than he was, and slightly smaller as well. he was holding a small bowl made of metal, which confirmed his theory of the mutant's abilities. Outbreak seemed to be sizing him up, most likely looking for any weaknesses. His name clearly stated that his abilities must be based around contagions, which lessened Chorus' confidence that he could defeat him. Unless he could use a single swift attack, he would loose for sure. Breathing in the air would suicide. But he pushed the thought aside- they had to be teammates, so he shouldn't be thinking about how to fight them. "I'm afraid I missed your name, friend" Chorus says, scratching the back of his head. He extends his hand, sighing. "I'm Asher, but you can call me Chorus." His words were very clumsy, lacking any social graces. Maybe his insanity in battle affected his peaceful moments as well. "You wouldn't have happened to have seen a pair of headphones, would you? Those are... important."

@Shog @rapjack123 @rosamortelle

Outbreak watched Chorus speak and noticed that his social behavior wasn't exactly in the best shape. He got up. "Is there any way I can speak to the monitor man?" He spoke out, to no one in particular. He was hoping that they were being watched. I want to know exactly what we are going to do next. He thought. Although this room had food, he didn't feel any more free than before. His patience was starting to run thin again. Outbreak hated being contained. His virus began to imitate his frustration. Outbreak kept it under control, he wasn't about to go crazy again but he REALLY just wanted some fresh air. He might seem like someone who's asking too much but he didn't care. The government needed him and Outbreak demanded to be taken out of these boxes. He felt that monitor man would be delighted to comply. However, those thoughts aside, where was Erin and Damion. They still hadn't showed up. He sent his virus to scout the walls for any information of their surroundings outside of this cell. Outbreak was always searching for information. He was already location security cameras and sound receptors. Outbreak looked at Asher, who had just introduced himself and asked for headphones. "Sorry, you find any on me. Try monitor man for some, although I doubt he'll give you some just yet," Outbreak said. Yup...sound. He need the headphones for something, and what do headphones do best? Kepp sound out. The same way hunters use them to keep out the sound of a gun. That's something I'll take note of, Outbreak thought slyly. He began to think about other ways to keep himself busy, or else he'd die of boredom. What if I had my virus tag them? Get inside their body to probe their health, physical and mental. He tossed that thought away for the moment. He knew that it wasn't necessary but he liked the idea. It would be nice to find out how much stamina each body has before it ran out of steam. And what's more...how much punishment it could take from his virus.

Conner was trying to nap- keyword: trying. It seemed like everyone just had to get friendly with each other at that moment. There was some puking, too, and some people speaking louder than necessary, but that didn't really register as much as a everyone being altogether too loud. He was tempted to just get up and tell them to shut their asses up, but they were supposed to work together, and that wouldn't exactly be easy if their first impression of him was getting into a fight, seeing as that was admittedly what would most likely happen. He just squeezed his eyes tighter shut and curled up tighter, hoping they would just shut the fuck up on their own.

"Me?" Sentinel asked. "Oh, my name is..." he paused for a moment. He was going to be working with these people so they needed some level of trust. Everyone else had given their real names, so he supposed it was his turn. "Nick. My real name is Nick, but I haven't been called that in a long time. These days I go by Sentinel. And I haven't seen any headphones." When Outbreak asked his question a speaker clicked on. "The man of which you refer to is currently busy with the rest of your group. We were hoping to have everyone who was going be here by now, but we will proceed anyway." The speaker clicked off and a set of double doors slid open on the side of the room. On the other side was a terrace, though it had bars around it to prevent any attempts to jump to the ground more than 10 stories below. The New York skyline could be seen in the now clear sky with the sun barely peaking above the horizon.

Asher breathed in deeply, relishing the cool air as it swept over him gently. After being in such small spaces with other people, it was a welcome change. Apparently, they hadn't left New York, which didn't bother him too much. The city was ripe with anti-mutants, and irrational officers of the law: his normal targets. But he had to put that behind him now, because if he was going to work well with this new group of people, he was going to have to change. No more mindless killing- although he wouldn't have anything against it. The faint sound of car engines reached his ears, so he silenced them, only letting the sound of the breeze, birds chirping, and trees rustling reach the rooftop. Reducing sounds was definitely one of the best things about his mutation, and he certainly used it the most. Then he realized something- the man on the monitor was listening. He ran back into the room, looking at the speaker in the corner. "Oy! What did you do with my headphones?" Chorus asked, checking to see if they were on the table.

And now it's cold, Conner thought, sighing as he realized he wouldn't be getting anymore rest for a while. He pushed the chairs back to where they were supposed to be, sitting in one of them and examining the food choice. He might not be hungry, but he might not have readily available food around for quite some time, so he ate some fruit, freshest he'd had in a while, and closed his eyes. Someone was yelling again, he noticed, but it didn't really matter anymore, seeing as he was up and not trying to sleep anymore.

It was their fault he was up, though, and he was gonna be sure to remember that if they needed help in combat. He wondered if he could access the powers of another mutant if they died- he could operate guns with the dead, better if they were seasoned with the weapon, what with muscle memory and all that. After a bit, he opened his eyes, hoping his displeasure was clear on his face as he looked around. No Erin. The metal mutant- Sentinel?- was here though. Joy.

He figured he'd better introduce himself seeing as a few other people had, and stood up, saying, "Kenada Conner. Nice to meet you," before sitting back down and closing his eyes again.
