Futuristic The Codes of Humanity

He walks past them and stands near a window. "Sorry don't know what you're talking about." He reaches in his pockets and pulls out a blood stained and soot covered $10, tossing it at them. "Treat yourself to something nice." He shrugs. "Maybe a burger from down the street. They are quite..... explosive" he grins as he breaks the entire window without touching it before stepping onto the window sile. He looks back at them."And their chicken fingers are..." he chuckles before a sick sinister look enters his eyes and his tone turns cold. "To die for" He jumps out the window laughing at his morbid clever joke.

Falling from orbit, after his home had been destroyed was hardly how he'd envisioned how his first visit to the planet's surface since he'd been shipped to the station would go. After the feeling in his extremities returned, he pushed himself upright and tried to get a bearing on where it was, or what it was, he'd managed to land in. Though the end result of his successful attempt was a blossoming of pain in his side. Looking down, he quickly deduced that he'd managed to injure himself on something during the fall; in the end he supposed it was better than the alternative.

After a few moments had passed, he got his feet underneath him and started to make is way from the crash site. While he didn't exactly know the cause; something bad had definitely happened, and finding another Code was probably the way to go. If only he knew where it was the other had landed...

"Eenie, meenie, miney ... that way." The Extant started walking. Because at the end of the day, he figured that no mater which direction he headed ... sooner or later he'd run into something.

Demi frowned, She did not like that persons behavior at all. Moving up towards the stair she sighed. "leave him be, he will be back" She smiled before moving up going to look for the person above them.

"Yay!" Fureha smiled and jumped, giving him a big hug. She loved when he let her watch.

Minerva sat upright in bed with a jolt. Immediately, she reached for her phone. The glow in the dark room stung her eyes but she clicked her speed dial and pressed the cold phone to her ear. Rings passed and Andy didn't pick up.

"Andy, pick your god damn phone up. Andy? Andy,"

"If you have finished you message, pleas-" Minerva mashed the end button and chucked the phone onto her bed, which she promptly made and smoothed.

Fifteen minutes later she was showered and dressed, just snapping on her watch which read 3:25 am.

"Only three hours before work starts," Minnie smiled.

Toast was being buttered, and Minerva stood quietly at the kitchen bar, sipping at her coffee and staring out the flat window. It was dark, but lights were on all over the city, a sea of fireflies and busy workers.

Breakfast finished, she left her flat, checking that the door was locked multiple times before entering the stairwell. In her car, she blasted the heat and pulled out carefully.

Minnie almost always left for work hours before she needed to, and she would sit in her office and plan by herself until Andy, her deputy, arrived.

Presently she was absorbed with the Recovery movement, her department had been put in charge of. To Recover the Codes, and bring them into a secure environment. She was determined to make this work.

"Annoying little bas..." Shura trails off with a sigh. He had hoped to get some information, but it seemed that the person he asked was useless in terms of information. Shura shrugs it off. "That was pointless. I do hope I don't see him again," he deadpans. For some reason that guy rubbed him the wrong way.

Sturs hugged her back briefly. "I shall let you do the honors, Fureha."

Immediately hearing footsteps other than her own, Elle stopped in her tracks. Her senses heightened as she puts up her guard. Attempting to act calm, she hesistantly takes another step. Her eyes depicting a faded figure coming towards her. Calm. No fear. Collecting herself, she prepares to meet another being. Hopefully, one that isn't threatening.

He peeks his head back into the window holding his hand out. "You know on second thought i'll take this back since you killed my mood." The $10 bill flies back into his hand. "Good stuff." He waves. "I'd be lying if i said its been fun but you know....it hasn't soooo...yeah. Places to be, dead comrades money to spend. You know how it goes. "He covers his mouth and rests his head on the window sill, chuckling to himself. "Oh wait... you don't.....tsk tsk. Ah well enjoy being homeless." He drops from the window smiling. "Weeeee!"

Demi smiled at his words, Seems she wasnt the only one who had a different side to them. He was quite stubborn. Demi looked around cautiously when she got to the top of the stairs, pausing to take in the auras around her. "Shura, there is a girl here. And she is hurt."

A girl's voice. Elle surprised by the figure's examination. She was indeed wounded, yet she hasn't said a word. Was her wound that noticable? She glanced down to her leg, seeing that the bleeding had stopped. Could it be the way she walked? Elle couldn't fathem at that quick moment. She couldn't be human. And someone named Shura. I wonder how many reside in this abandoned nest. Staying silent until she meets the girl face to face.

No longer concerned, Demi took a step around the wall. Now face to face with the girl she giggled, " I can tell by your breathing, What happened?" Taking a step back as to not frighten the girl Demi twirled her beads around her fingertips. "Your a code right?"

Minnie pulled into her designated parking space at headquarters, stepping out and polishing the brass plate that read 'Chief Jones - Tactical Department'. She allowed a moment to admire the plaque and her accomplishments.

When Minerva was finally at her desk, she shuffled through the papers and plans spread out around her, organized in piles in a system only she knew- all the better for keeping her plans Top Secret.

The Department had access to CCTV cameras, and Minnie's office was arranged to allow her to view the footage at all hours.

There was a tap at the door, and Minerva looked up.

"Chief Jones?" It was a security officer. "Commander Winston's just picked somethin' up,"

Minerva immediately rose. "Of course, take me to him."

Shura raised a brow. There was someone hurt now? He wondered what they would encounter this time and decided to let Demi take the lead. When he heard her say the girl was a Code he wondered how scattered they truly were.

Error slowly parachuted down from the building. He walked to the nearest hotdog stand and nicked one of them before quickly walking away. "..."He said to himself. He yawned, being asleep in that satellite for so long has made him a bit weak, he will recover easily enough.

The sudden appearance spooked her a bit as she backs up slightly. She was relieved she wasn't just hearing voices and seeing visions. These were real people. My...my breathing? Looking back down her leg, she recollected the happening. "A big metallic shard pierced through my leg. It left a hole as its reminder." She doesn't seem threatening, she could be another code if she could sense my physical status. Elle nodded, calmly. "Yes. I'm a code." Her tombstone dulled in rhythm, her heart eased slightly. Admitting her identity was taking a big risk, but as long as she doesn't state the type of code she was, she would seem fine.

As Error walked around, being incospicuous, his Heartgaze seeing people's hearts. He suddenly froze when he looked at a wounded girl's heart. She...was like him? He started to approach when he noticed the others near her. He quickly changed direction, hid nearby and stared at them while Heartgaze analyzed them.

The Commander was a.. chubby man, and as Minerva entered the office, he beamed.

"Knew you would be here this early Jones!" He chuckled. Minerva strained a smile.

"Your officer said-"

"Oh yes, yes yes yes," The Commander clapped his hands together. "We've had the teams glued to live footage around the wreckage 24/7 , and one of them just picked up a little something-something."

Minerva was growing tired of the beating around the bush, and it must've shown. Winston swiveled around a computer screen and pressed a fat finger to the monitor. Adjusting her glasses, Minnie took a closer look.

It was an ordinary looking run-down building, but inside she could see flickering figures. And then glowing pulsating lights. Tombstones, she almost gasped. Codes!

"Where is this?" She demanded, straightening up quickly.

Winston raised his hands defensively, "Hey! I thought you were the Chief Strategist around here, even I know we can't barge in there, they'll blow us to smitheries!"

Despite his stupidity, Winston is right. "Send me the co-ordinates and your best team's Captain." She spun on her heel and snapped a finger.

"I figured as much, Dont worry we will not harm you if you dont" Smiling softly she turned back to head towards the stairs, She probably frightened her. Demi had hightened senses due to her previous bout with blindness, even a persons breathing gave perfect information.

Meanwhile in a distant city, A large rift in in the sky gave way for the large beasts to invade. With the Code complex gone, it gave the shade all the time in the world to wreck havoc.

Screams filled the air as the ashes began to fall, A large beasts which was more of a corps walking snarled using its saliva to spit at the humans.

Fureha giggled as the acid tore the skin from the womans face, The acid in the shades saliva was one of her favorite things about it them she would be sure to own one when she was finished here. "Sturs... I want one... or two.. maybe three" Her eyes lit up watching another tear the body in half, chewing the organs as the poured from anothers insides.

Error slowly leaned out, he needed to get a better look on what was happening. As he leaned he accidentally lost his balance and fell. "!!!!" He shouted as he fell. He rubbed his hurt body a bit before freezing. "...!.....!" He mumbled. They were blind if they couldn't see him now.

Minerva power walked down the hall, the phone pressed to her ear again.

A groggy voice answered, "Hello?"

"Andrew Niccol, get your ass down to HQ now, all hell is breaking lose and we have a lead!" She was jogging now, The Department starting to come alive as more people were alerted and bought to Headquarters.

"W-wha..?" Andy mumbled, "But I-"

"Now!" Minerva yelled, but drawing no looks from the hurried and half-panicked workers around her.

She burst into The Tactical Department, people bustling at desks and chatter rising like hot air to the balcony Minnie was running down. When she reached her office she tapped into her computer without bothering to sit, and send the co-ordinated onto the large projector in front of the large space filled with cubicles and busy workers.

Not stopping she raced down the hall to another office, just three doors down from her own. In it, Marcus, the Strategical Technology Facility Head, sat at his desk.

"You've got the files, yes?" She said, out of breath.

"Yeah, yeah, I already know what you want and I'm on it, calm down." He smirked.

Shura watched Demi do her thing. He had yet to see her act so gently.

Sturs smiled as he watched the humans perish, a sick smirk spreading across his features. He enjoyed this so much. "Take them then, Fureha," he replies as he sees a human try to hide beneath a car. One of the beasts merely tossed it aside, devouring the man in moments. His shrieks dying in the air as his blood crept across the concrete.

He walked in the same direction for what felt like hours. Though he was pretty sure it had only been five minutes.

Or was it ten? He'd always been bad at keeping track of time.

One thing he did know for certain, however, was that the wreckage of his former home spanned a considerable area of the city. Which meant that it was probably big news. Which meant he was probably not very safe at the moment. Which meant ... well, what did that mean, exactly? He stopped walking and momentarily lost himself in though.

"Everything and at the same time nothing," he finally supposed, then after a moment more a soft chuckle escaped.

"Funny how it works out like that." Not expecting a response, but almost hoping for someone or something to break the silence; he stood standing for a moment and listened to the wind.

But in the end, as expected, no response came. So with a sigh, The Extant resumed his course through the wreckage. The echoes of his footfalls rebounding off of the buildings and empty streets that now surrounded him.

Minerva got angry at that. "Calm down? Calm down!? The Shades are invading Marcus! We need to get those Codes now god damn it," she sucked in a breath "and I want that scan done!"

Marcus looked unsure about her outburst, but tapped a few keys and bought up a screen. The same building from the CCTV footage appeared, though this time the colours were distorted.

"It hasn't finished yet," Marcus mumbled. "My teams are working as fast as they can.."

Minerva wasn't listening. She stared at the screen, taking it in. Small, colourful circles were forming and flickering, the identity numbers of the Tombstones flashing on and off, changing. But working.

"Are any of them confirmed?" She asked calmly.

Marcus nodded, pulling out some papers from a pile of haphazardly stacked folders. "Only one though- we picked it up because of it's injuries. Seems okay to fight though," He added.

Minnie took the papers and scanned it quickly. "It goes by Elle?"

"Yep."

"Do the trackers have this?"

"Not until I've found them all, nope."

"Well send it you idiot, this isn't a video game, this is life or death!" She smacked the top of Marcus's head and flipped through the messily stapled papers.

"Elle..."

He now walked around the town , looking for a house for sale. "Time get a place to stay otherwise i'll run into more codes." He wanders until he comes upon a two story house, the land lady just exiting the house. "Hey lady." She turns around as he grabs her by the neck, lifting her against the door, staring into her eyes. She suddenly stops struggling and he lets her go. "Do me a favor and hand over the keys." She hands damien the keys all too willingly. "Good girl. Now i expect all my bills to be paid and i expect you to be here in the morning with the list of things i've implanted in your head." She nods obediently as he opens the door. "You can go back to whatever you do now." He closes the door and heads upstairs to his new room." Gotta love having powers man." He tosses his bags down and explores his new home. " Hm. Five bedrooms. I've really hit the jackpot. I'll make use of all these rooms. " He checks out the three restrooms and two kitchens."Well time for sleep." He runs back upstairs and flops into his bed, drifting slowly into sleep.

Fureha had her eyes glued to the creatures, pondering over which ones she would keep. From the corner of her eyes she noticed a small one, no bigger than the size of what humans called kittens. A squeal left her quietly, It was too adorable with its crooked tail, wrapping around a human boy no older than 15. "So.. cute" She scooted off her seat a little, trying to inch closer to the little shade.

Error blinked. They were...just going to ignore him. Huh, that's a first. He slowly stood up and dusted himself before going back to hide. Heartgaze only doing half of what it should because he couldn't get a good view. They might be Codes, but he didn't know them at all.
