Chordling : Question! What is technology like? I'm thinking about having my character with a prosthetic limb that's completely made from tech scraps. Would that be possible?
Yes, that is acceptable. ^^ In terms of general technology, portals, airships, steam powered, pistols, cannons, swords, and The Mag. Steampunk + Pirates + my imagination = Portals to the Afterlife tech!

So how effective are medicine/doctors/surgeons in the universe? Like, is getting shot automatically a death sentence? What kind of recovery is possible?

There are a lot of factors, which can be summarized by the depth of the shot, the location of the shot, and your character's physical resilience. Hit in the head or the heart and you'll likely die. Take a bullet to the knee or the shoulder and you'll spend some time recovering. Depending on how that goes, you'll likely end up normal, but there are still chances for the wound to cripple you.
Medicine, in general, will vary. If you're a military member, chances are that you have some really good health benefits. Nothing compared to our modern medicine, of course, but much better than the average Jo. If you're a low-class scavenger, you won't be able to afford something like that. Pirates fend for themselves. What they find is what they have. A lot of chance, a lot of guessing, and probably little to no anesthetics.

Oh snap, I guess I completely read over the fact that The Cold Raven is nearly a hundred times the size of a typical airship.
Should I adjust the numbers of the turrets I listed on Emil, or should we just consider the ones I listed the weapons that Emil specializes in? So larger cannons and explosive weapons aren't his forte?

Just so you are aware, your character is very old for this setting. I gather that most people would logically live until their 70s; 80s if they were lucky. I do not mind that he is older, I just want you to be aware. ^^ Really cool monk background. The thing, however, is that the storms an piracy started centuries ago. He would have been born during the sandstorm. The storms would have started long before your character was even born. Your character's mother would not have been able to go through if she wanted to live because 1) the portal was likely corrupt and 2) the government would have caught her and arrested her. The same can be said for your character's father. Then the Holy Portal would have been confiscated by the government and destroyed.
I know that this completely destroys your character's background but it's not consistent with the lore. Let me know if you have questions.

Okay, I'll change the ageXsandstorm stuff.
But 1) the portal was "likely" corrupt. Doesn't mean it can't be, so let this be a very unique example of one that isn't.
2) That's fine about the mother, Caesar doesn't know what happened to her after she left. Maybe she did get caught, who knows?
2.5) Caesar's father is still probably in the portal given that he had nothing to exchange in return for leaving the new world because the mother brought treasure back instead. Point being, both I and Caesar have no idea what happened to his parents, so that's all fine. I'll change the error about him growing up not in a irradiated hell then. Or perhaps I'll just have him cryo-frozen until later so I don't have to exert as much effort re-writing this. xD

I would actually rather not. The existence of the Holy Portal itself sort of destroys the potency of the final portal which they are sent out to find in the roleplay... which is the main subject of the story. xD Sorry!
I don't think they would have had that kind of technology back then.

: Two general role-play questions! You said we had to post a minimum of once a week (which is perfectly acceptable) but do you want us to go in order? E.G. You post the first post and you wait until every writer has posted once before making your second post? I'm sure the group will be divided at some point (whether to get to separate jobs or whatever), so I just want to clarify how you want replies setup. Second question: Role-play language. They are pirates so I'm assuming you're allowing all manners of crass language to be used (in moderation), but are there any hard limits?
