Pretzel Heart Pretzel Heart Rhakun Rhakun all these shifty characters now knowing the value of G O O D B O Y S smh

Syrenrei Syrenrei Angelica isn't hot tho. She's tall and pretty in the face but she's also too skinny and she walks like a dude. Funnily enough, I also considered making her facial scars more prominent/giving her more of them, but I couldn't think of any ways for her face to get more scarred that wouldn't have been a significant/memorable event, and I wanted to keep her backstory fairly low-key. Miserable, but you know... quietly so.

Abd don't worry! Nine will find love! It shall be our mission!

Subjectively I think that Angelica is prettier than Nine is still. I didn't say that Nine was ugly but she is the ugliest compared to the others. She is average in absolutely every place I think, unless I forgot how I wrote her which is entirely possible.

Hierarchy is probably something like Apollo & Opal > Nova, Brie, Angelica > Nine in my mind anyway.

Possibly. She's a normal person on a boat full of hotties. XD

I nearly always make my characters good-looking unless they're kids. I'm not sure why. :/ I also always make my characters tall, partially because I'm tall in real life and am more familiar with Tall Girl Problems. I do something similar with curly hair but not as consistently. It's interesting to look at the commonalities. It's just kind of odd, because generally in most other respects I like my characters to be pretty ordinary.

In my experience, most characters on RPN are very attractive. I've tried to buck the trend and make more average folks that stand out more in terms of personality, because at some point that chick that isn't hot is the unusual one. All of that being said, I get why it's done. Most people aren't a supermodel in real life and if they are going to spend their time writing a character, why would they want to write someone of middling looks, fat, or just ugly?

Prettiness is 80% attitude anyways~

Generally I use anime face claims so they tend to look pretty by default, but in my mind they're average looking. I usually like to diversify the age range with older characters if it makes sense for a roleplay, but in this scenario I wanted to play a flirt so I literally calculated the average age XD

I really have no problem with any type of character as long as it is intelligently written and performed. Aesthetics are a nice feature and a character can be beautiful and interesting, but in my experience, good writing tends to make the greatest difference.

Still, who doesn't love our traditional post-apocalyptic, scarcity-based settings protagonized by fit teens rocking neon hair?

Even so, if I were some random dude on the ship I'd go for one of the hot ones. No question!
As your friendly neighborhood random dude on the ship, Torrey likes to look at the pretties, but he'd rather talk to someone he has more in common with. ^;3^ (Which, OK, so far in IC has been Diablo, but hey, the night is young!)

I didn't think to put in his attractiveness. Ought I? What did you guys think? He's supposed to be pretty average, aside from what I specifically mentioned.

He looks pretty attractive to me! Although I want to shave off those dreads and help him grow out some luscious long hair. <3

**** feels left out of deep character discussion :closedeyescryingfrown:****

Us guy pirates need no deep character discussion! We'll drink it off and fire our flintlocks in the air to pass the time!

Emil will just cry and complain to the kid powdermonkies about how he's lonely. At least they're still too young to judge. Or the captain's dog..

When did this role-play evolve to one of romance and a 'most-attractive'? :(
This is about pirates! Exploring the Ruins! Searching for the Legendary Portal! Guns! Sabres! Mutiny!

Make sure that you are also discussion relationships with characters of the opposite sex, too, and not just for romance purposes. I do not want this roleplay to become the battle of the sexes.

Hmmm I think I'll put up Brie's impressions for all the other shipmates on board! Give me a minute to do that, gotta review over CS again.

I think romance is fun, but I don't imagine a lot of the action will end up revolving around it. From what I read/what's been said so far none of the characters seem to be overtly focused on forming relationships (though I haven't caught up with the OoC discussion fully so I might be off on that ha ha). So it'll be more like underlying tension between the characters? Or something like that? I like seeing characters have chemistry together.

Mmmm that would be a sight to see. Let Torrey's luscious hair flow in the wind, Kaerri Kaerri .
O.o Talking him into it would be a sight to see, too! (I bet it'd be totally worth the effort though.)

It's them gurls again. They always gotta play kissy-face games.

Is actually a girl in real life

I am definitely obsessed with romance; however, that doesn't mean Nine's interactions will in any way be limited to beaus or potential suitors. She will be pretty close to Apollo and Nova as confidants and friends, and she will be quite faithful to Captain Woods as her superior even if he drives her completely insane.

And the whole pretty comment came down from me seeing all these ladies making me feel Nine is the ugliest despite wanting a romantic subplot. D=

What everyone knows (keeping in mind Apollo and Nova may know more by virtue of being her closest friends):

Captain Woods: While she gives a heavy sigh at his flirtations she is loyal to him as a member of his crew. She keeps a somewhat comfortable distance from him both emotionally and physically, but doesn't lose his shit if he is pushing her out of the line of fire or incidentally needs to touch her. Nine knows that ultimately he's her boss and she tries to respect that. Also, she loves his cousin Piper.

Rowan: Nine keeps her distance in every way possible. She doesn't think he'd shank her in the back necessarily (since he's loyal to Captain Woods) but he's terrifying to her. His violent nature, his scowl, and cold disposition evoke fear deep in her heart and barring any sort of warm interactions she'd make every effort to avoid him as much as possible.

Emil: He is slightly less terrifying than Rowan, but his love of combat and violence, as well as rumors of his history of enjoying chaos, make her especially wary. She trusts him only insomuch as Captain Woods vouches for him. She'd avoid him as much as possible barring any sort of warm interactions that might he re-consider his temperament.

Winston: A sort of kindred spirit in being calm, docile, and pragmatic. She appreciates his work ethic and assuming she's not the target of an argument that makes him raise his voice, she'd be relatively comfortable around him... for a man.

Torrey: He seems like a decent enough guy, but as stand-offish and cold as he is, Nine isn't as well at ease with him as she is with someone like Captain Woods the chatty Cathy or Winston, the placid lake of emotions. She'd be polite and trust him to touch her without adverse reaction, but not spend copious amounts of time around him unless they were working together on a project.

Aleksander: As someone that is easy to talk to and gregarious, he probably draws Nine out of her fearful, apprehensive state and gets her to laugh at a joke or two as long as it's not about her and wildly inappropriate. She wouldn't be giving out hugs to him, but he wouldn't elicit the "fight or flight" response from her if they bump into each other in the hallway either.

Iksel: Extreme discomfort. This kid reminds her of the guys that got away with assaulting her during her education. Rationally she knows he isn't the same person, but she'd keep everything and anything with this guy terse. Besides, he wants to be the centre of attention so much that she can fade into the background pretty easily..

Faraday: Nine likes him well enough. He's a bit too rigid even for her, but he probably respects her boundaries and has earned her respect as someone who also enjoys reading and gaining knowledge. They might have had intellectual clashes but Nine would generally enjoy him so long as he doesn't get too upset with her over a healthy debate or question her botany specialty. Like several of the others, she probably no longer jumps at his touch although they're not even close to hugging buddies.
