Cyndaquil nodded and charged at the bird Pokemon.

Starly and Charmander

Struggling to get up it winced at pain and looked at Charmander and started flapping it's wings once more. Charmander looked at Starly and wagged his tail a bit as he was laughing. Charmander looks at Starly and waits for Kai's commands.

Kai Takeshi

"Starly use quick attack and follow it up with a wing attack one more time!" He yelled out as he watched the Starly bolt at Charmander at full speed once more. "Charmander use ember then follow it up with scratch once more! When he gets close Starly use wing attack."

Starly and Charmander

As they closed in on each other Starly got under Charmander and hit up him upwards with the wing attack which sent Charmander to fall and faint. Starly landed tired then ever and looked at Kai and jumped in joy.

Kai Takeshi

Walking over to pick up Charmander he smiled at them both. "That was a nice battle, especially for training I really like the enthusiasm and effort that was thrown on the table." Kai said very impressed by his pokemon.

Braelyn watched as the battle came to an end, Charmander falling after Starly's wing attack. The purplette heard a soft snicker from the Oshawott in her arms, but Braelyn simply rolled her eyes. Charmander was definitely going to be hearing about this later.

Lucia was the first to compliment Kai when he had picked up Charmander off the ground. Braelyn was quick to agree and nodded, a soft smile appearing on her face. "They both listen to you so well." She added, thinking on how Starly and Charmander had obeyed Kai even though it meant hurting each other. As teammates, that was probably hard. It definitely would be for her.

Kai looked at the two girls as he held Charmander in one arm and pet Starly with the other. All he could do is laugh a bit after what Lucia had told him. Kai had then heard what Braelyn had said as he looked back at his two pokemon who where obviously tired. "Yeah your right and I'm truly grateful of what they did just now. "We've only known each other with such little time and we act as if we've known one another for years." He said looking at them hugging them both strongly as he was proud of them both. "Though I do wonder how hard I can train Charmander." He said standing up with Starly on his shoulder and Charmander in his arms. What he meant by that was how fast he could get Charmander to evolve. Maybe by the second gym? Of course by then he would have enough experience and strength to do so, but what about Starly? Many questions ran through the boys head.

Since Scyther dodged Chimchar's attack and was going to hit it with a Fury Cutter, Hiroshi quickly thought of something to do, "Quick, Chimchar, use Leer to throw off Scyther!" The ape Pokemon glared at Scyther, hoping it'd work.

"Well come on, we can stop at the gym to see if it's open right now then we can go to the forest. I believe Phantump is already there waiting for us." Lucia giggled as she led the way to her gym, of course not saying anything about it, she didn't want to ruin the fun, nor did she want them to feel nervous around her.

The leer failed its intended purpose, but it appeared to make the Fury Cutter weaker. Still, the attack did great damage to Chimchar. "Chimchar! You can still go on, right?" The Chimchar clenched his teeth and let out a cry ensuring that everything was okay. Hiroshi had a strategy in mind which might work. "Use Leer, and wait for it to attack you!"

The murkrow was too busy pecking the boy that it hadn't noticed Cyndaquil attack. Getting knocked off the boy it fluttered in the air, trying to regain balance as it came in to start pecking Cyndaquil.

The boy watched it and gripped his fist "Cynd! Try dogding then us tackle again!" He exclaimed.


The fire Pokemon nodded and attempted to do as told but got pecked. Having tackled without the dogde part.

As the group walked they came to a large building with the league symbol on the front. Phantump was already there waiting but it seemed that the gym was closed at the time. "Hmm, I guess the leader is out running errands or something. Perhaps tomorrow after the tournament we can check again." Lucia giggled and Phantump gave a confused look before happily scampering toward the forest behind the gym. "Now why don't we find you a friend and get you some things for the tournament tomorrow Braelyn."

As the murkrow pecked the Cyndaquil it recoiled from the rushed attack, snickering at the fire pokémon.

Cyndaquil grew frustrated at the Pokemon and charged in for another tackle without orders.


"No Cynd don't do that!" The boy ordered while looking at the bird Pokemon "That's what it wants you to do!" He stated but it was to late.

"Chimchar, jump over Scyther when it attacks and try to hold onto it from behind!" Chimchar tried to jump at the correct time, but unfortunately its Quick Attack made its approach very quick, and he barely dodged the Scratch which came at him, and the attack hit his leg, making him fall downwards right in front of Scyther. "Use Scratch as you're falling!" Hiroshi commanded, thinking he could use the momentum the situation gave him to his advantage.

They walked around the city until coming to a large building with an odd symbol on it. Lucia mentioned that this was the gym, but the doors were shut tight. Lucia's Phantump, who in Braelyn's opinion was a little scary, floated in front of the doors.


However, since the gym leader wasn't around that meant they were going to head to the forest now. Lucia seemed excited for some odd reason. Braelyn grinned and nodded before following the Phantump hesitantly into the forest. Her excitement was growing, and to be honest it felt a little strange how much excitement she could feel about one tournament.

He was kind of disappointed as he was happy to get braelyn a new friend hopefully from watching his battle with starly to catch it she had remembered and cause it to her advantage. He pet the Starly chin and look down at charmander who had fell asleep in Kai's arm.

Squirtle! The Pokemon shouted with glee. Squirtle climbed off Raiken's back, exploring the forest. So, Squirtle, how many steps are we going to go to reach the city? Squirtle made that maybe a million steps face. Oh man! They kept walking through the forest, hoping that the city is close.

Braelyn walked rather slowly as she looked around. The forest was eerily quiet. There was very little sound except for a few bird Pokemon and the sound of footsteps as she, Kai and Lucia would make.

Pretty quickly her fear began dripping away. It wasn't too bad besides the eerie silence. And then something jumped out of a bush and screamed. With a yelp, Braelyn fell backwards into a sitting position. She stared up at her "attacker" only to see that it was Kai and his Pokemon. They really had scared her bad.

Her grip on Kristina loosened a bit and the Oshawott immediately chastised Charmander and Starly for doing what they had done. The Oshawott seemed rather calm throughout her lecture though.

Braelyn on the other hand seemed stuck to the ground, staring wide-eyed at Kai. She felt safer here on the ground, although her backside was a bit sore from the fall.​

He said scratching the back of his head a bit while looking at her. Charmander acted like he was tired and bored of the lecture from Oshawott as he tried to sweet talk her down. Starly looked at the two and flapped his wings.

Braelyn was unable to tell if it was a flattered blush or if her normally calm water-type was being pushed over the edge of her limits.

Either way the sight brought a small smile to Braelyn's face. "I really don't blame you for doing it Kai." She murmured in response to Kai's explanation for scaring her. She had practically walked right into it.

Rubbing the back of his head he didn't know what to do as he watched the two pokemon squabble. Starly landed on his shoulder as he petted it to make Starly feel comfortable on his shoulder. Charmander shook his head as his tail wagged a bit, he was trying to explain to her his nice and powerful attacks as he could protect her form harms way. Charmander was confident about himself and was doing his best to impress Kristina.

Braelyn watched the Pokemon, amusement quite obvious on her face. Charmander obviously like Kristina, but she didn't how the Oshawott felt.

Well, that was sort of answered from the way Kristina shot a spurt of water at Charmander. It wasn't enough to hurt him a lot, but enough to get her point across and soak the fire-type's head. Braelyn covered her mouth as she attempted to hold back her giggling. She could only imagine the conversation between the two starters.

From there, Kristina made her way back to Braelyn and looked up at her. She had a smug smile on her normally mild face as she gestured for her trainer to pick her up. Braelyn did so while still laughing about the situation she had just witnessed.​
