@Swimswamswom how bad does it screw with your plans if people whose characters are accepted start posting some intros (and if we need to be set up by you, can we do that)? I'm pretty excited about this RP and would love to read some introductions while we're waiting for the rest of the crew.

Alternately, how badly would it screw with stuff if we had separate threads for Arena RPs and Non-Arena RPs?

Sorry guys my phone died this morning and I couldn't get home till now ;-;

Sorry but I don't really want to start just yet – I need to add more to the Settings/Locations (and character thread), make a rules section on combat, and sort things out with a few more people on joining the roleplay. I'm probably going to make a character and use him to make GM posts, so once I do that and make the first post, that'll mean that the rp has started. I'm thinking of maybe starting it up by the end of the week, but that is very wishful thinking as I'm very busy with swimming this week. :c sorry guys

Also @Grin can you elaborate on having separate threads? I wasn't thinking of doing it as it would make it hard to keep track of the overall time, but if you have a good reason why it'd work I'm open to listen c:

Since we all have these "home planets", I figured a spot for dropping non-combat RPs would be handy. A separate tab for those RPs would keep them from cluttering up the combat thread.

I see your point, however that might also confuse the timeline. Since the time goes pretty linear, everybody will normally be either in Valhalla/the Arena or in Lyra at once. It might be easier to keep track of this, as you can pretty much scroll down the single thread and everything would go more or less chronologically.

That's my opinion, however; your idea can possibly work too. Shall I make that the next poll?

The first poll shouldn't count.

Random people who might not even join the role play are being accounted for.

How about we do all the voting once all the accepted players are official.

@Swimswamswom I think this is one of those things where I'll defer to your vision. If it makes more sense to maintain a single thread then I'm cool with that answer.

yo guys guess what

i can't even edit the poll to ask a new one, i can only add responses :^)

In that case I'll be embedding polls from now on, you'll just have to check the OOC thread and make sure to find them and vote. Sorry for the inconvenience, guys :S

@SachiGrl I'll embed that top poll again to get rid of the people who randomly voted (as there are 13 people who voted up there, which is more than the all the people who expressed interest)

Have your say: How should battles be decided?

looks like i can only link them too, how great :) ))))

I think it would have been better doing a group PM, so that the poll is private (strangers can still have access to the poll)

>.>

No :o though I just looked at it and I think I might do strawpolls since you don't have to sign up with it

I used to work in a club and they made me create surveys for their customer's opinions. It is super flexible.

woa lots of options – @SachiGrl I'll definitely keep it in mind though, might switch to that for later polls
Are you going to create a playable character or are you simply going to be the GM controlling NPCs?

I'm going to create a character for myself, though I haven't been able to think of a good outline and power for him yet (thinking of going for a character from a more humble upbringing). Also, I'm still debating whether to actually battle you guys with him, since it seems like the polls have been leaning towards letting me decide the battles – it would require bringing in another person to judge, and that would constantly switch around.

I got an idea!

Before a battle, the contestants roll a die to see who's suppose to win and who's supposed to lose at the end of the game. That way you can be as creative as you want, but if you got the losing roll, you simply have to eventually lose accordingly.

Did that make sense?

(I want you to play)

I don't think that I could vibe with a system like that. In my opinion, combat is all about skill, being able to think two steps ahead of your opponent and leave them unable to find a way out of your end game. In a situation like that, it would literally take all the fun of combat in the first place. It's more or less just a.. guided script in a way. You give it your all, clearly your skills are superior, yet you lose in the end regardless of your effort. Getting a losing die means you immediately have your hopes for winning crushed. It's not because you didn't try, it's simply because the dice were unfavorable to your situation, that would really kill my vibe, you know?

I thought of that originally, but realized that wouldn't work because people may feel very discouraged to actually write if they knew they were going to lose anyway – some may not even post at all. But I'll try my best to play, and we'll see how everything plays out :P

Why don't you assign a co-GM to help you judge?

Or

The winner of your choosing gets to judge your battle!

Or

Those who aren't battling can vote who's the winner.

Actually, I like the last one ^.^

I honestly would simply prefer judge guided calls. That is the most fair in my opinion and when it comes to skill dice rolls have non. Combat is all about skill being able to out think your opponent. With a dice roll you can't do that. People who win with dice only win with luck and that isn't a fair system in my opinion. Those who have the most skill and best post should be awarded accordingly.

By judge-guided do you mean having everyone vote on the winner?
