Fantasy Department of Defense Against the Supernatural

Sam started to feel the pressure of the magic maze. "This is getting ridiculous." Sam said. "The magic is insane. However, there's no way he could do all that and maintain everything going outside at full power."

"King." Sam said. The bishop piece fell to the floor shattering, and in his hand appeared a King Piece, then disappeared.

"I sacrifice all my speed and defenses and throw it into physical and magical strength. This pressure is now easy to dispel. However, I'm by far the most vulnerable to damage."

"Hey Galleytrot, we should split up. We'll cover more ground that way."

"Black Clones." he said. A bunch of clones of him appeared, and some of the swapped to different pieces. "Take every one of these paths. Watch those steps of yours, and alert me of your findings."

They took off down the paths, making sure to watch their steps. "Take the last path, Galleytrot. And watch your step. I'm not carrying out any corpses"

@KattRai

@Azure Sky

"Yes, right, of course you're getting involved Piper. What I said was Stay back." Greyston said, slightly irritated. He seemed a touch distracted, as though he was having another conversation.

Lu Bu stumbled backwards at the blow, his chest and hands seared and charred from the witches attack, with the shadow of his spear left unscathed, as he had brought it up for defense. He let out a mighty war cry, and brought the spear down hard towards the witch, causing a blaze of blue fire to shoot out towards her, then he brought it up and around, swinging now to actually hit her with the sharpened tip.

Liliana heard Scath's words, but they barely made it through to her. They instead make the words of another echo inside her mind "Get on your feet, woman! Freyja did not bless you as she has for you to wallow in your own self pity!" She clinched her jaw together, and when her eyes opened again to find a shadowy creature in front of her, a small dragon the size of a wolf. She reached for her sword, and swiped it through the mook, dispersing the shadows only to watch them reform. Her air sword wasn't very effective, and she was immediately met with harsh retorts from the valkyries she saw standing about- despite their not actually being there.

The labyrinth stretched out in front of them, and the air around them felt immediately heavier.

Piper looked at Corin, then it hit her what he was saying. She ducked out of the way as the mace, Sharur, flew over her to Greyston. She backed up, suppressing a grin. It would have been unlike him not to have a second plan. "...You still have a broken arm," Piper pointed out to him. "How do you plan on wielding it?"

Galleytrot gave Sam a look then turned back to a human and was shaking his head. "No way. Absolutely not. You just said about five seconds ago that you are now extremely vulnerable to attack, and then you immediately turned around and said, 'Oh, yeah, since I'm super vulnerable I'm gonna go traipsing off on my own in this big labyrinth that exists solely to kill us!' And you're talking to me about carrying out corpses!?"

"Its just a mace, Piper, and I still have a good arm!" Greyston called to her, catching Sharur. "It's been awhile, glad to be out?" He asked, clearly to the mace in his hand, which actually responded, "Yes, It is nice to be out and about, Corin. Perhaps you should get in fights more often, or perhaps I'll start letting myself out to fight you." Greyston sighed, and asked, "So, strategy?" The weapon responded to his question in his head, and from the look on Greyston's face it was a rather rude or vulgar weapon. "Right, too late for that." He told the weapon.

Lu Bu turned back to Greyston and Piper, bringing his blow up to hit Fred with the but of the spear rather than the tip as he threw it in Greyston's direction. Greyston, in turn moved not entirely out of the way, but shifted to swing his mace at the lance and hit it as though he was at a baseball match, causing fire to flair out in all directions in the shape of a 2D sun, dangerously close to greyston, enough for him to question the wisdom of his actions but not close enough to truly hurt him. He let out a quiet grunt as the impact rattled his bones, and the spear flipped end over end back towards Lu Bu.

She dives to the side and circles around him the effect of her spell trailing after her until the ends meet, forming a ring around him. Leeping back she speaks another echoing phrase. "Sarcophagum vocant solidam formam et soluere machinam." The ring would begin to shrink in and fit itself to his shape, its luminescence increasing as it closes in.

She shouts a warning to Greyston as she leaps back to complete the last portion of her incantation, "Be careful that you don't make contact with him or let him do the same to you, this spell is designed to destroy undead, and it won't discriminate between friend or foe."

Piper fired off a few more shots. "Are you back on your feet?" She asked Greyston. She glanced at him, then turned back to shooting at Lu Bu.

Justin eventually got off his ass and exited the Department to aid the others. Fred, Pip and Corin were already fighting the huge undead general, Lu Bu, and they didn't seem to be winning quite yet. What caught his attention, was Corin wielding a mace and apparently talking to it. Did he finally cracked under the heat of battle and was now talking to some imaginary friend? Ooor...the weapon could be one of those talking spirit weapons he heard about. Oh well. That's that. Turning to the wounded Corin, he yanked him on his feet and recited a small healing incantation. He wasn't sure how well it would go against undead, yet he was hoping it would work. ''Seems like Fred is brewing some magic against Lu Bu, he said as he turned towards the general, waiting for what is going to happen next.

Sam looked at Galleytrot. "Look here demon. I don't move without reason, so I don't need my moves questioned. Your doubt would surely get you in checkmate pretty quickly."

"Have you heard of the Queen piece on the chessboard? The beastliest one on the field. However, that's because it can move at a high speed, while dishing out high damage. The king takes all speed and all defense and puts it into magic and physical power. My power is effectively double that of a Queen piece. I can obliterate nearly anything. I move much slower, but we're in a trap-filled maze, so moving fast will get us killed by traps. If speed is useless, you resort to power. I take the most damage, but I dish out the most damage. In a narrow corridor, dodging is impossible, and that runs for both me and my enemies."

He gave Galleytrot a hard look. "We've wasted enough time with our little chit-chat. Get moving and don't follow me unless you want to get exorcised. With a King Piece and this narrow corridor preventing evasion, you'd be destroyed immediately"

He walked off to the other path without waiting for a response. He wasn't doing this for the Department. He was doing this for the city

@Sleipnir

The SET cleared one section of the city, the place by the White House. Luke decided to sweep to the middle of the city, since the middle was already destroyed. The SAM Bot managed to weaken one of the dragons, but it was resilient, and was attacking the Brute. The SAM Bot summoned some SAM turrets to the top of some buildings to shift focus.

The undead mages were ripping apart the city, but were dropping like flies against the Anti-Mage Bot. The demons, however, were causing trouble. The power of this army was in sheer numbers and diversity. Luke had to shift his plan into a new formation: The Spear. The Frost Walker came and swept the front ranks with freezing mist, while the Brute destroyed the frozen bodies. The Anti-Mage took the middle with its dispel field warding off all magic, and banishing the shadow creatures who touched it. The SAM bot was fourth in still shooing at the dragons and repairing everyone in line. The Locust Swarm took the back in immobilizing the advancing army from the back.

Greyston nodded, "Right, stay away from the light. I've not been so great at following that rule in the past." He said. He stayed back, keeping Sharur at the ready.

Lu Bu saw what was happening around him, grabbed his spinning weapon from the air, and attempted to break free of the circle of light, dragging the tip of his spear along the ground as he attempted to run out of the circle and swinging up, shooting out a column of fire at Greyston and Piper. The blue fire came at them with immense speed, almost faster than Greston could keep up with, and was wider than before.

Greyston saw the general start a last attack of a man who's about to fall, and also saw that it was aimed more for piper than for him. Before Sharur could chastise him, he tossed the mace out, throwing it hard at Lu Bu as he dove towards Piper. He hit her just before the fire, knocking her to safety with nothing more to deal with than intense heat. Greyston, however, let out the most guttural scream she had ever heard in that same moment, collapsing to the ground, his shirt was burned through at his waist and his skin was black and blistered in a foot wide band, standing in stark relief against his usually flawless pale skin. Greyston hit the ground hard and writhed, attempting to stop the fire from spreading along the rest of his clothes.

About this time Sharur hit Lu Bu, knocking him back into the circle, when it hit hard against his chest. Lu Bu had moved to dodge out of its way, but the Mace seemed to correct itself in midair. Lu Bu stumbled back, actually losing his footing and falling back in the circle. The mace was lodged firmly in his chest.

@OriginalDaydreamer @Sleipnir @Elias

(My next post will address the Labyrinth. I gotsta go get some food first though!)

Galleytrot leered after Sam, seeming greatly unmoved by the threats. He growled slightly, saying under his breath, "No one would know, boy. No one'd find the body." He turned sharply to walk the opposite direction, adding to himself, "..Or the soul. You can't excorsize a black dog." He moved carefully, slightly glad to be moving in the boy's opposite direction. It had occurred to Galleytrot that he was not going to like Sam much.

Piper scrambled up, running over and dropping beside Greyston. She looked him over, repeatedly cursing under her breath. She looked up toward where she could see Sander leaning out the window, watching what had occurred. She yelled to him to get down to help her, but she didn't wait for the young man's assistance, picking Greyston up while avoiding the burns as well as she could to take him into the Department building.

Once she got inside, she was immediately barking orders, taking Greyston toward one of the back infirmary rooms and setting him on a cot. "Greyston, can you hear me?" she asked, kneeling next to him. "Lu Bu's dead. Again. He should stay dead this time." She turned to yell again, "We need burn balms, something! Right now!"

Penumbra and Oberon heard Baels threat.

"Play with the lost boy, will you?" Oberon said to his shadow master, who was beside him. "I have something else to check on."

With that, the Lich disappeared from the playing field, Penumbra saw Bael, who was a long way out from the department now, and melted into the shadows, forming a large wolf in front of Bael, it was the size of a small house standing there, and it snarled and growled, pawing the ground and preparing to fight. A few of the smaller shadow creatures were dismissed as Penumbra called them back to form the wolf. The shadow rain stopped falling as well.

Greyston let out nothing more than a short moan, he felt as though the whole of his insides were boiling.

As Galleytrot moved forward, he realized there was something very near, but the limited visibility did not allow for him to see anything beyond the end of the narrow corridor he was in, which ended perhaps a quarter of a mile away and had at least 50 other passageway openings between. Every step each of them took echoed incessantly around, undoubtably announcing their presence to any who dwelled within.

As Sam walked, he found himself smacked by a wall that swung around and pushed him into an adjacent corridor, closing off the passage where he came from. Unfortunately, the corridor that Sam was shoved into held pressurized spikes, which sprang up as soon as they sensed his presence. They were small, but very sharp and laced with a potent hallucinogen. One would be very wise to avoid such things.

@Kylesar1 @Sleipnir

Fred holds a hand out before her and squeezes it into a fist while speaking her final incantation. "Combustum." Causing the ring to flare up and completelyvdestroy the being trapped within, leaving only the items carried by them.

Bael stared at the wolf, giving it a slight grin that was more reminiscent of a snarl or baring of teeth than an actual smile. He was not afraid. He had no more fear left in him. He pauswed to pull something out of his vest - the pocket watch attached to his brass necklace - and looked at it a moment. "I have time," he said to himself, observing the time of night left. He put away the clock. "That's good. If I had more time, though, I'd have more fun." Suddenly he disappeared, leaving a cloud of black smoke, and reappeared atop the beast, pulling out a pocket knife from his vest and jamming it in between the beast's shoulder blades.

Piper cursed again, then screamed, "Right now please!!" Evans was immediately with her, and she was surprisingly comforted by his sturdy and confident presence. He had any number of different creams, balms, and bandages. He began working immediately, glancing at Piper occasionally. He finally paused and turned to her.

"Reed, go and fight. You're useless here." he told her flatly, then he continued working. Piper was startled by this, but it occurred to her that he wasn't wrong. She stood up and left the room, immediately finding people asking what to do next.

She hesitated, then began giving orders.

Galleytrot froze, narrowing his eyes, then shifted into a dog, carefully stalking forward with all the stealth he could muster. He looked about him, ears perked, waiting to be attacked.

The mace and spear clattered to the ground, along with a medallion that Lu Bu kept on him as his body was disintegrated by Fred's spell. "Thank you for getting rid of that pest... could you take me to see my master now?" The mace called Sharur asked, clearly to Fred.

Wednesday saw Jumil running out of the department, as the whole fight with Bu Lu had taken place just outside of the ruined building. She thought of giving her some sort of direction... then decided it wasn't her place and moved towards Piper. "Hey, I have a plan. If I help the vamp over there, can you get ahold of some food for Caden? She likes meat and brains- the usual zombie stuff, though she is a fairly neat eater- for being a zombie."

Greyston said nothing, trying only to not yell out with each time someone touched him. Usually there was no way he would let Piper carry him like that, but he didn't have much of a choice, it seemed.

Galleytrot could hear the walls shifting around him, and then the sound of another's footsteps just a couple of feet behind him, followed swiftly by sword swept right into his flank. When Galleytrot looked to the man attacking, he saw the ancient warrior, renown for uniting the huns: Attilla. He was clad in heavy armor that had been enchanted to withstand all but the strongest blows. His sword was little more than a standard weapon, but his strength was aided by the enchanted armor.

Piper looked at the ghost and with barely a moment's hesitation she nodded. "I can try but I can't make any promises. I can't have the bodies of department agents desecrated because they're dead." She immediately took off, and noted Jilmi. She went to her, and said, "I need you to round up refugees. Kill anything that gets in their way and get them into HQ -- It's the only place that's safe right now. Do you know Sander Evans? He's only a little older than you. White hair, grey eyes - you can't hardly miss him. He's in a back room with Greyston - he's been badly hurt. Tell him that once he and the ghost girl have Greyston stable, he's to help you get people to safety."

@subject 635

Galleytrot flinched away, growling at the Hun. Of all the people... Galleytrot snarled. Attila might be strong, but he was no small pup himself. He disappeared into the ground and appeared behind the Hun, plunging at the warrior's back and aiming to knock him down.

With Lu Bu dealt with Fred went foward to take the spear, mace, and medallion before taking them into the department's headquarters. Seeing Greyston she hands them over to an agent telling them to place them in their vault runs over to attend to him. Kneeling down she'd look him over before speaking, "Do you drink live?"

Sam saw the door coming, but it was unavoidable, so he didn't even try to evade

The room he found himself in was full of spikes. It was dripping with poison. He sighed. The Lich was clearly underestimating the power of humans if this was the best he could do.

He could get past these spikes with ease. They used magic to sense his presence, so all he had to do was suppress his presence, and the spikes would go back down. "Bishop." He said, and the King Piece fell to the floor, shattering.

"Suppress." He said, and he his body faded, not completely however. The spikes went back into the floor, and he walked back out. It took quite some time. He walked to the end of the corridor, to a dead end. He took the wrong path. "Come in, clones. What's the status?"

All wrong. Looks like Galleytrot took the right path. Sam sighed, and started back to the entrance of his path. On the way, he heard fighting. Sam made no attempt to speed up. Hopefully Galleytrot would be finished............. in their favor, because Sam didn't feel like fighting. Plus, this corridor was too narrow for multiple combatants

Wednesday nodded to Piper, and headed over to do what she could for Greyston herself. She wondered what would come of this, and did what she could to ease Greyston's pain. She could tell that there was no way the vampire was going to be ready for action again any time soon. "Can you move your legs? or did the fire go clean through?" She asked, looking at Greyston.

Greyston glared a little at Wedneday, trying to do something with his lower half then sighed. He shook his head no in response to Wednesday's question, then looked to Fred and said, through gritted teeth, "Only when I must." His voice was strained.

The wolf split into two when Bael drove the knife in, allowing Bael to cut through without to terribly much damage. The one to the left lunged at Bael, snapping the boy between its jaws.

Attila spun, moderately agile for having such bulky armor. The broad end of his sword smacked into the dog, knocking him into the wall as he assessed the air. There was another about- several? Maybe not.... It didn't matter. One battle at a time. His enemy was better off separated, anyway.

The walls in the corridor changed around both sam and Galleytrot every 3 minutes or so.

Galleytrot snarled, hitting the wall, only to get up and realize that the corridor shifted and he no longer had access to Attila. He paused, waiting for the walls to change again. When they did he immediately attacked the hun again, sinking his fangs into the armor and jerking back, aiming to rip it off altogether. Hid mind kept going back to Piper and Greyston. If he stayed here too long, it was plausible they wouldn't be able to hold out. Something told him that if he didn't get things moving quick, they wouldn't be able to go on at all.

If the Department fell, everything fell.

Sander froze, staring between Greyston and Fred. He said nothing, and stepped back.

Bael plunged out of the way, but was caught on the arm. He shouted, slashing at the wolf's maw with his knife. "What the-?" he paused long enough to look at it, frowning. It looked as though it was reflecting the sun. He looked at the wolves again and decided to disregard this strange event - after all, nothing here was normal - and there was another flash.

Sanders looked away from the situation at hand and ducked out to give Jilmi his attention. He wasn't one for speaking, so he just nodded and waited for whatever instruction was to be given.

She extends her arm offering her wrist, "I think that this is one of those 'must' situations." She says her voice determined. "We need you in tip top shape and if it will give you strength then drink up."

She draws a finger actoss her wrist and speaks one word. "Incisione." and with that motion a cut would be made

"Just be careful, I'm not sure how the magic in my blood will affect you."
