Fantasy Department of Defense Against the Supernatural

The walls rotated, and the maze changed. Sam could really do nothing but keep following it.

This was becoming a pain, but he kept following where it took him.

Soon, it brought him out in the same corridor as the fight, and the battle continued on. Sam sat down and watched the fight. Getting involved meant a possibility of friendly fire. He cared not for Galleytrot, but they were on the same team

The smell of her blood immediately struck Greyston, and having not fed since the previous morning, he latched onto her wrist, knowing he could not have as much as he wanted. He could tell that the magic in her was strong, and didn't particularly want him to feed from her.

Wednesday hovered near by, Trying to stop the burns from spreading, as it seemed as though the fire was still effecting him internally somehow. After a few moments she stopped it, and sighed, saying. "He's not going to be better any time soon, it doesn't look like."

Inside of the Labyrinth, Attila yanked away from Galleytrot, his arm now exposed. He lunged again at Galleytrot, sword aimed upwards through his head.

The wolves fighting Bael shied away at the light that came from the boys dagger. The one he stabbed let out a great whimper- or appeared to. The wolves themselves were silent and made no noise. The other lunged at Bael from behind, jaws aimed for the legs to eat away at Baels essence.

By the time the shadow's jaws shut, however, Bael was no longer there. He reappeared on its back, stabbing it through the head. He leaned down to its ear and whispered, "Can you hear me, shadow master? Whatever it is you are — I'm gonna come after you. If you have any horse sense, I'd say run, and run fast."

Sander nodded, then asked, "Our directive...?" As he wasn't exactly sure what his job was here. He knew he was to help somewhere but was unaware that he was needed for refugees.

Galleytrot leaped back out of the way and then grabbed onto the Hun's arm again, jerking his head in the manner of a dog in a tug of war.

William just finished battling some shadow monsters, when an undead wizard tackled him to the ground. His eyes were glowing purplish and his hands were rotting. He had a ugly face, one that would definitely give you nightmares at night, if you woke up seeing it. Tackled to the ground, Will thinked fast, and swirling around he managed to get off the wizard. Extending his claws, William went face to face against the zombie. "That all you got?'' he said, as he quickly sent two fast kicks and a hard punch in the wizard's gut. The creature shrieked loudly, coughing up purple smoke, then leaped at Will with inhuman speed. Mumbling something in a unknown tongue, he threw curses upon curses on the Kraken hoping to ward him off. Will fell to each hit, but then got back to his feet. ''Sorry to dissapoint you'' he said as he tidied his suit. ''Leviathans do have a more greater immunity to magic than other creatures'' he said as he extended tentacles and decapited the wizard with one hit. The head rolled to his feet, and with a powerful stomp, he crushed it. ''Nasty'' he said as he cleaned his shoe.

Meanwhile, Justin was making himself useful by rounding up the refugees, helping Sanders and Jimli. With his flight, he would get them to safe places, and tackle monsters on the way.

Jumil runs to rescue some refugees from a fire as she slices open a monster or two with her enchanted war axe

"We need to get them to the hq" I yell

Evans had picked up a young women with an injured leg, and was shooting his way out with each hit taking a beast out. He nodded toward Jilmi, gesturing for others to follow as he cleared the way with relatively minimal effort compared to some of the worse fighting.

The wolves were gone. Bael stood alone on an empty plaza, and put his blade away. He looked up again, then turned away to head back toward HQ, ignoring most things along the way. Occasionally a shadow mook would get in his way. His response was only to pull the knife again and with lightning speed, slice through them until he got nearer, his black hair matted in spots with blood — or whatever shadows bled.

Justin was flying around, kicking and punching left and right, when he noticed how Evans was cleaning everything with more efficiency, using his guns. Nodding to himself, he quickly entered the HQ and came out with two rapid-firing SMG's. He took care to enchant them to do holy damage while he was it, so they would work against the shadows and the undead. As he shot left and right, he really saw the efficiency of guns. Then, an idea came to his mind. Gaining pressure in his feet, he did a huge leap, and stopped midair floating, then started spinning around and around in the air, while rapidly firing. That way, he was like a vortex of death, shooting bullets everywhere and in short time.

William was watching impressed by the white haired boy and Justin's acts of cleaning the monsters. All he had were the tentacles yet they did their job marveously. With these thoughts, he did an arc slash with one of these tentacles and decapited a couple of monsters on the way, then went to tackle against a shadow lion-like being.

Monday Morning

Piper looked up, seeing the sun beginning to rise. The shadows began to retreat as the light began to gather. "Regroup," she said into the Bluetooth. "Everyone to HQ. we have units clearing safe areas for refugees all over the city. They'll be fine — I want all of you back to HQ for damage reports and injury reports while we have a chance. And wherever Bael is make sure he hears. But keep him away from Greyston at all costs."

Evans sat the girl down inside the building, pushing a stray white lock out of his face before heading to check on Greyston, but slowed to a stop before he got there. He looked out, and noted that Bael was staggering his way up now. He hit the Bluetooth. "Reed, the poltergeist is coming to you."

Bael noted that the fighting had almost completely seized in front of the department headquarters. He leaned against a light post, suddenly very exhausted from the wolves, and slid down to sit. It seemed like a good enough place to rest for now... "Bael?" He tried to focus and realized Piper was standing over him. "You alright?"

He shook his head, then nodded, heaving himself up again. "Yeah. Just... Yeah, I think so." He didn't mention the flashes or the knife. He stumbled slightly, regaining his balance, then shot Piper a glare as he realized she was trying to help him.

He reached the building and collapsed into a rolling chair, closing his bright green eyes for a moment.

Piper watched the poltergeist skeptically for a moment, unsure whether she should be concerned or not. To so suddenly get to a place where he could fade seemed unlikely, and she was unsure what could bring on the behavior he was exhibiting now. She decided to leave it for now and immediately went to the back room where Greyston had been taken, standing silently in the doorway for a few moments before asking, "Can I come in?"

Greyston had fed from Winifred, and cut himself off before he took too much from her. The effect should be no worse than getting her blood drawn at the hospital.... for about 13 tests or so. Still, though, it shouldn't effect her too much. He had fallen asleep as the sun was raising, before Piper called for the retreat, and when piper came to visit his eyes were closed. Aside from the huge strip of blackened and boiled flesh, he looked peaceful, his chest did not rise or fall, and one may have a hard time telling if he was actually alive or not. Especially given that even Greyston did not remember the last time he truly slept.

Caden had wandered off during the battle, and Wednesday had followed. In the young rays of the morning sun Wednesdays ability to be seen was greatly impaired, and she began to fade from sight. She was still around, but now unable to be seen. Caden was helping herself to some of the fallen, and Wednesday honestly didn't feel up to stopping her. The zombie needed to get some strength back too.

Liliana had been struggling with the nightmare gas, but with the rising sun helping to disperse it she found her courage again. She managed to fight off the last of the shadow creatures and saw a couple of nearby agents heading back to the headquarters and she decided to follow them. She noticed the poltergeist resting and wondered what had occurred with him.

Jumil looks at the retreating shadows and raises her axein victory wanting to slay more of them but knowing she has to follow orders. She heads back to HQ

Piper stood in the door for a few minutes, watching Greyston. She stood still, jaw clenched, and hesitated fearfully. She tentatively walked in, sitting down beside the cot. She feared the worst. "Greyston...?" she asked quietly, hesitantly, and praying for a response. She couldn't think of what would have to happen next if he didn't respond.

Bael finally opened his eyes again, then grimaced. He stood up, then went to the window to watch for enemies in the distance.

Justin and William regrouped when they heard the call back signal. Justin just fininshed doing his flahy bullet-vortex and was now landing to a finish. He took care of some of the last of the shadows, and was now entering the HQ. The sun rising was really beneficial as it splattered the nightmare gas away. He didn't see any freakish abominations, nor the archangel now, so it was all good. As he entered the HQ he collapsed into a nearby chair as he stripped of his body armor, and raised his shirt to check for injuries. ''Son of a bitch'' he said as he noticed the damage, the shades did when they attacked him in large numbers. All over his chest, lied tar-black vein-like formations spreading to his neck. They were probably the residuee that remained after he was stabbed by the shadow soldiers with their claws.

He smirked. For once, his angeliness saved him. If he wouldn't be part angel now, he would probably be long dead. That amount of shadow residuee could kill anybody human, yet he was living. Grabbing holy water he started his purification process. It was going to be quite painful removing all of this darkness.

William meanwhile, entered the HQ, and was looking like a serial killer, frankly. His hair was smeared with traces of shadow-like blood, and his suit was ripped in numerous places. His face was full of green blood from the life force of the undead, and a bone could be seen embedded into his back. One of his fingers was twisted, and he looked like he took quite the beating, yet it was the opossite. During the fight, he fought savagely, letting his leviathan side out. He massacred hundreds, forgetting about the pain, and now he was looking like shit. He got mauled by dragons, undead warriors, zombies and shadows yet he felt good. The blood spilt has pleased him. And nobody should know that....

Piper continued to sit quiet beside Greyston, desperately hoping he was going to be fine. She didn't move and didn't plan to until she had to, and didn't dare think what would happen if she'd costed Greyston his life. Losing him at this point was almost more than she could bear. They'd been through far too much to end now.

Aside from that, it had never occurred to Piper that there was any possibility she'd outlive him. She wasn't supposed to. She tried to shake the thought away and glanced over her shoulder. She should be helping any injured. Piper couldn't leave though - or at least, her desire to stay was too much stronger than her sense of duty.

Bael turned around and leaned against the window. In the light, with the sun rising, he looked as normal as anyone in the department, minus scratches or injuries. He wondered, though, if that mattered - if maybe the injuries he'd suffered weren't physical. He clenched his jaw. Whatever had the audacity to reach into his mind and pull forth what he could only figure was the deepest parts of his own personal Hell would suffer greatly for its trespasses. He paused long enough to contemplate the more unusual events of the night as he turned to look at the huge puddles of blood and water in the streets below. The questions, to him, were obvious.

What was the light? What had caused it?

The answers were harder to find. He sighed heavily, irritated by the perplexity. He hated things that weren't straightforward. He sat up, more readily recovered from his battles and walked away from the window. He needed to clean up - covered in nightmare blood was not an attractive state of being.

"Well, we all look like we just got back from Disneyworld, don't we?" Liliana asked the others in the building with a sigh as she entered. It seemed they had kept up well enough, but she wondered how much longer they could have held out if daylight hadn't broken through.

"So, are we stuck going at this alone or are there some renforcements on the way?" Liliana knew there were other Department outposts in other cities, DC was just their hub.

Greyston remained in a deep slumber, his body needed to gel itself and was trying very diligently to not have the vampire die. Healers had filtered in and out of the room he was in- all who's guiding element was water, or ice, as their healing magic would be more effective on the vampire. Some were human doctors, others were mages or spirits of healing. Usually the healer would stay for about 10 minutes then leave, and then 5 minutes later another would come. One assured Piper that Greyston would be able to make it through with so many healers helping out, but he may have to stay out of the feild for a bit.

After awhile Piper finally gave in to the realization that someone had to lead the Department for the time being. She stood up and stepped out, taking a deep breath, and looked around. Everyone seemed exhausted - and they should be - and for a moment she wondered if Galleytrot and Sam were even still alive. She pushed the thought away. "We'll be getting reinforcements in before the end of the day with any hope," she promised. "Everything else in the nation is pretty much shut down and just waiting. We sent for reinforcements already. Chicago is sparing us some, as is a branch in New York." She glanced at Liliana, then went to the window. Everything was dead out there. "I'd suggest we all rest while we can. We won't have time for long."

Bael looked at the young girl and scoffed. "Hey, at least you chose. They stuffed me in a cage, then something happened and next thing I know, boss dog over there picks me up and says, 'There's been a bit of a row outside. A giant undead monster is trying to annihilate life as we know it, wanna help out? I know you want to rip the vampire to bits, but we kinda need a bit of help, ' And what does one say to that except, 'Sure, I suppose?'" He brushed a hand through his black hair with a grimace. "Where can I find a comb?"

@subject 635

Piper sighed, shaking her head. The day began passing slowly, inching along until she heard the helicopters dropping outside. The reinforcements were being dropped off from the airport. She looked out the window, then went outside to greet them. She was fairly unkept herself, and putting on airs wasn't her first order of business. She stepped off a particularly badly-upheaved slab of concrete, standing in the middle of the shattered streets as the helicopters landed. As the first of the agents stepped off, she was jarred to see some of these were hardly more than interns. Others were clearly well-seasoned. "Welcome to Headquarters," she said half-heartedly. "My name is Piper Reed. I imagine you've heard about what's happened. You all know why you're hear. Go on inside; we already have quite an arsenal of weapons. If you can enchant, please do. Holy and light magic will be your best friends these days."

Kyuma exited the chopper, stepping out and taking a look at the wreck of a building before him. He sweat dropped, mouth twitching slightly as the amazing organization he'd been promised to was...less than spectacular.

" Hey guys! You sure you're dropping us off at the right place!?" he yelled back to the pilots, who had already began to take off once again. "Oookay, I guess this really is the right place...Geez, this place looks like a mess. I hope the inside view is better."

Piper nodded and turned to lead them back inside. "We can give you an orientation later. For now, I'll introduce you to some of the more well-known and integral members of HQ." as she stepped in, she nodded toward where Bael was sitting back, readjusting his vest. He looked up as Piper passed, sharp green eyes breaking down these recruits as though he was going through any number of methods he could use to kill them. "Bael Lake. Poltergeist. Keep an eye on him or he might kill you if he has time." He nodded in agreement as she said this.

"That's Liliana. Valkyrie. She isn't an actual agent, but she's been a great help. Justin and William are over there, and this," she paused near where a thin, white-haired boy was stationed, working on a computer. He looked about fifteen though he was older, and ignored them. "Is Sander Evans. He's better than he looks. Questions?" She turned and looked at them. She got an expression and then added, "Oh — over there's Jimil, and Fred's around here somewhere. She's a witch and also not really apart of the department, but she's been a huge help. Saved Greyston's life. Uh, Luke Cross is our tech boy; he's probably in his office."

Kyuma raised his hand eagerly. "Kyuma Igneel! From Japan, miss! I was wondering if you'd marry me!" said, with a completely serious expression as he stood firm, with a hand raised straight into the air.

Liliana looked over and assessed the new agents. Many of them looked... Less than ideal, but they would have to do. The Department seemed to have taken a major hit. Liliana wondered some on how everyone would fare in the coming fight.

Hearing the new guy call out so suddenly, her question appeared to be answer.

Meanwhile, the sound elemental had been busily defending those who had been gathered at the river's fork. It had lured the monsters away using sound traps and the like. Once everything seemed to be retreating it appeared back at headquarters in it's young female form. She went over to Piper and tugged at her sleeve. "Take me to your leader now/just take me to your leader now." The elemental asked, quoting Newsboys this time. It really just wondered where Greyston was.

Bael stood up suddenly as Kyuma spoke, looking something like startled. This caught Piper's attention, and she frowned, then looked at Melody. She kneeled down with the little sound elemental, then glanced again at Bael. She wondered if he'd hear. Or if he already knew. "Melody, Greyston's hurt. He's sleeping right now." She then stood up and with a curse under her breath, she yelled, "I want someone standing outside room 56 at all times, no exceptions! ...And someone put a guard on the poltergeist!" Once people were getting on that, she looked at Kyuma. "You'll have to buy me a drink first. As soon as they let you sit at the bar. Any other questions?" She responded dismissively.

"Panties shot?" Kyuma asked, hand still raised, and a smile on his face as he pulled out a camera phone.
