Fantasy Department of Defense Against the Supernatural

Evans paused where he stood, looking over at Greyston. He was dealing with one of the last monsters, but wanted to wait for any further action to assure he knew what Greyston wanted to do.

Bael leaned forward slightly, raising his eyebrows. He followed the strange ghost and her zombie a step or two. "Seriously? I didn't think zombies had the capacity to learn." He shot a look at the zombie, amused.

"No, there is no need for the risk! Not here, anyway, we've got most of the bigger ones locked back up- thankfully their stay in the dungeons has done their abilities no favors! The rest were mostly in transition to trial or a real jail, so it's fine if we kill them, we know they're guilty, anyway." Greyston called to the witch. Her shield had been immensely helpful to keep the creatures contained, and he saw no risk at the present time for such drastic action, hopefully the future wouldn't require it, either, but it did appear that Zeus had gotten away...

Liliana was glad to hear Greyston say that, though the last bit seemed a little.... sketchy. She decapitated the gryphon in front of her, and looked at it sadly, it was a shame that some of those creatures decided to go on killing rampages and what not.

Wednesday shrugged again, and said, "Yes, it would seem that way, anyway." She turned back to check on the zombie, making sure Caden hadn't started feeding on anything else. It really did hurt her heart to see her wedding dress in such an awful state, but for being on a zombie for 10 years it wasn't all that bad- mostly just stained and such. Part of her wished that her family hadn't buried her in her wedding dress, but it didn't matter now, she'd gotten used to it. "I wonder if my clothes change when hers do?" Wednesday said aloud, though she didn't sound like she really cared about the answer.

Luke made his way towards the church, and sent his hoverboard into overdrive, which got him there in about 1 minute

On the way, he called his brother, who was the Arch-Bishop (-n-)

"I need you to help me out with something important." Luke didn't even bother with greetings

"What?"

"There are Ancient Beasts waking up as we speak. I think you know where I'm going with this."

"Yea, Yea. Meet me out front."

Luke picked him up swiftly, and flew back towards where the beasts lie. 2 of the doors were open. The SECURITY prevented all 3 from being opened. Sam could only seal 1. It was between the Basilisk and the Phoenix, with the Phoenix winning out

"Get to sealing. We can't have these things waking up. That'll be disastrous."

Sam just nodded. Even without a Queen or Bishop piece, it wasn't hard to seal it back up. The basilisk, however, escaped. It roared and its toxic breath dissolved a hole under the ground in the heart of the city. It climbed up and walked out into the city.

Luke shot a text to Corin. "The good news is that we sealed 2/3 of the beasts. Furthermore, the Phoenix was sealed, so you can rest easy on the fire. The bad news is that the on that escaped was the basilisk, which is just as deadly head on. I'll send you a summarized report if you want."

Luke heard a howl, and walked outside to see the werewolf guy howling for him, with Sam following. "What is it?" Luke said to him

@KattRai @Sleipnir

Evans turned, hoping to get his work area cleaned up. He wasn't particularly enjoying his little trips out of the HQ to clean up one mess or another. It wasn't his idea of a good time.

Bael opened his mouth to speak again, but was cut off by Piper. "Hey, Bael! Could you help out getting some of these desks set back up?" Bael rolled his eyes, and turned sharply toward her.

She stumbled back as papers flew up into the air and a few desks already set back up flew across the floor. "How's that for helping?" he snapped back loudly, then with an irritated look and gesture from Piper, he looked back at Wednesday with a huff.

Galleytrot turned back into a human then, waving to the brothers. "I think there's a portal in this cave!" he called.

Greyston checked his amazingly resilient phone and read through Luke's text. 'Right, thank you, I'll get on the basilisk, I put him away in the first place so a report isn't necessary. Thanks for the help. We managed to get most of them cleaned up down here, Zeus and Hera got loose, though. We may have to deal with them in the future, so did Fenrir.' Corin texted him back with a bit of a sigh.

Wednesday sighed, and moved the desks back upright, and to a seemingly reasonable position. She couldn't help with the papers and whatnot, however, as she didn't know what went where. "There's no need to be rude, uh, Bael, right?"

Luke looked back in the cave. "Galleytrot, this is my brother, Sam, and also the Arch-Bishop. I'll leave him to you. I have to find where the Phylactery is."

He turned to Sam. "I owe you one for this. You're better at direct fighting than I am, so you're better suited. If you need anything, dial me up."

Luke got on the hoverboard and went back to the department. He used an invisibility module to keep from being sighted from the chaos that was going on. He made it to his office unseen, with his computers still defending the entrance. Luke closed and bolt-locked the doors shut. He got to work on finding the Phylactery, he'd be sending bots soon.

Sam nodded. "Ok." He turned to Galleytrot. "Where's this portal, and where does it lead to?"

@Sleipnir

"That's right. Bael," he told her. "But I'm not inclined to help the type who go cavorting around with vampires and try to kill me!" His voice rose louder gradually, and he turned to look at Piper as he did so.

She shot him a leer. "Still professional!" she yelled back. He scoffed, looking back at Wednesday.

"Point is, it was less uncalled for than it looked," he told her flatly.

Galleytrot looked at Sam. "My name's Galleytrot. Yes, I know it's a stupid name, so don't ask. Anyway, Luke didn't stay long enough for me to inform him that I'm pretty sure this portal might lead to the Phylactery." He gestured into the cave. "In here."

Piper began carefully rounding up the papers, shooting looks at Bael, cautious to make sure he didn't ruin anything else. Last time she'd be asking him for help cleaning up. What a ridiculous reaction. Then she looked at her cell and groaned. Zeus and Hera, really? Fenrir was easy enough, but the Eternally Unhappy Couple she didn't care to deal with. We'll get them eventually... Just not right now.

Sam shot the text to Luke, who sighed. He went all the way back to the office for no reason. He had nothing to do on the computer, so he decided to go ahead and clear out the department of the beasts, then help out Corin.

He unbolted his door and peeked out. A beast came running towards him. He opened the door and jumped back, his combat computer blasting it the moment it came within view. Luke summoned up some shock bots, and went to work stunning the creatures in the department.

He stunned down most the creatures, so that the department members could take down the rest.

Luke got back on his hoverboard and flew to where Corin was. "Apparently Galleytrot found where the Phylactery may be. What's new with you?"

@KattRai

"Guess we should go in then. I'm sure the Lich isn't going to make this thing easy, so I hope you're prepared for this." Sam said

@Sleipnir

With most of the immediate danger behind them Fred dispelled the barrier and moved in closer to hear the assessment of what was left to be done.

After listening for a moment she chimes in. "His phylactery is bound to be heavily protected. Possibly even by things worse than what we were just battling. "Further more I doubt its actually in the cave, that would be entirely to obvious..." she says switching from foot to foot. "Wherever it is , is probably linked to the cave." She suggests.

"Okay, that's good." Greyston said, motioning Sanders over and having him finish dragging the large chimera back into a cell to spend it's days in a holographic world. He stood and stretched out, looking up at the full moon looming in the sky overhead. "Well, I don't suppose we'll get away with sending everyone that way, but Sanders, Piper, me, and the Valkyrie should be able to handle it here. I'm not sure where that Dragon got off to, but if you'd like once we finish actually cleaning out the inside of the department, then you can help coordinate- watch out for any new moves the Lych makes. Stuff like that. Or, you could do as you'd like. If you leave to help Galleytrot and your brother, then take the her... uh, i did catch your name," he said, now addressing Fred.

Wednesday reached her hand out to touch Bael's head, intending for her hand to go through him and cause the cold chills that she usually seemed to cause, "Shh, you're getting loud." She said, before realizing she was actually touching his hair. A grin graced her face when she looked at him, and her hand moved down to his shoulder, and down his arm before she realized the look on his face, she moved away from him and looked awkwardly away from him before seeing where Caden had moved on and was heading towards one of the agents. "Caden, stop. Stay." She said, in an attempt to regain her composure.

Bael had recoiled slightly, shrinking back slightly with a very uncertain look on his face. As Wednesday took off to catch her zombie, Bael tentatively brought his other hand up to his shoulder. He himself wasn't exactly sure how to react and ended up just standing their awkwardly.

Piper had gotten distracted and watched the exchange before working her way toward Greyston. She glanced over then said, "Okay, this is very off-topic and I know there are more important things to worry about but did you see that?" she said quietly to her partner.

Galleytrot nodded. "Oh, I expect that." He glanced at his new companion.

Greyston turned back to Piper rather confused, and a touch concerned that he missed something. "No, I was... busy. Is something the matter? Did you two finally start dating?" He asked, referring to a relationship he had been hoping may occur for a few months now. Of course, there were more important things to be focusing on than silly romances at the moment, but still. He looked at her concerned.

Liliana had pulled the last of the escapees from outside of the department building and finally went inside for the first time. "I'm here to help. I'd be happy to follow any orders you have." She said, offering a salute to Piper, then she turned to Greyston and Luke, adding, "I'll help wherever I'm needed, if you ask, also."

Greyston nodded when Lillian spoke, a touch offended at her clearly thinking Piper should be given the orders, but he knew better than to argue. "Right, would you like to go hunt down a basilisk with me? Or... err, with Piper?" He asked her, after pausing long enough for both Piper and Luke to respond.

Wednesday went over to her zombie, and whispered something intelligible to it, resulting in the zombie looking at Bael and moving in his direction. "Wait, Caden I said stay." She told her, sighing.

Piper froze, then just kind of said, "Wait. What? What about dating? Wait. I mean B..." She stopped as Lilliana saluted her, then gave Greyston a self-satisfied look. She listened to the conversation, still half keeping an eye on Bael's situation. She glanced at Greyston. "You can handle the basilisk if you like," she told him. "I don't care to. I will go, if you want."

Bael watched Wednesdy and Caden for a minute, but when Wednesday's attention was back toward him he immediately broke away and, half-tripping, kneeled down to scrabble together a pile of folders and papers.

"I'll go wherever I'm needed, I'll just need a little time to recharge and get some supplies from my shop." She says watching the department's forces round up more of the remaining monsters, she then turns to Greyston and gives him a once over,"The name is Fred by the way."

Greyston nodded, and said. "Right, Fred... short for... Winifred perhaps?" He asked, looking at her, "Well, either way, I'll take the Basilisk, he or she who would like to accompany me is welcome to. Whoever would like to stay ready for the next threat is welcome to, and whoever wants to go help Galleytrot and Cross is- you guessed it- welcome to. With that, I'll bid you all adieu." He said with a slight bow towards the group, dismissing himself and heading out to tackle the basilisk roaming about DC.

Liliana glanced at the others to see what they were doing- she had no great desire to tag along with Greyston, she wasn't fond of snakes, and would prefer to follow Piper or Winifred around, honestly.

Piper nodded. "Right. We have a lot of damage here, so I don't know about you two but I'm hanging around to do some cleanup. Fred, if you can make due with out supply cabinet, I'd like you to try and patch up some of the injuries. It's probably not as good as what you're used to, but for us it feels substantial enough. If you need to go to your store, feel free to, just be careful not to get killed." Piper paused, and took a mental note to talk to Greyston about making sure, in the future, they hire this witch to put some protection between the HQ and any hostile spirits that might try and get in. "I'm going to help clean up here for now. Get a head count of who's left." She grimaced at the thought. She looked at Liliana. "I didn't catch your name."

Bael huffed, throwing one of the desks back onto all for legs. He may not have been helping in the gentlest ways, but at least by now he wasn't making thibgs worse. He pushe himself up over the desk to look out the window where he could see Greyston leaving to hunt the basilisk.

It wasn't as if he'd forgotten his goal. He was still determined to kill the vampire, he just hadn't had a good chance yet. He released a short breath and then turned to getting papers back up on the desks. He stared at them, trying to comprehend what it meant before realizing he didn't even know mathematics like these existed. He hadn't even considered college or any of that when he was alive.

Judging from this, he didn't regret it.

He glanced across the room to where Fred, Liliana and Piper were standing. Some world they live in.

Galleytrot slowly wandered the cave for a few moments. "I think this is the portal over here," he finally said, pushing a hand against a rock. "It has to be activated, but that's not all that difficult."

Will cleaned himself of the blood that was splashed on him during the Lamassu fight. It was quite the struggle to defeat such a large creature in such a crowded space, yet finally he managed to bring the bastard down, before he reached the outside world. An angry Lamassu would be quite the damage if it got out. Fortunately, now he was sitting in his cage. Looking at the blood on him, William shivered as he watched it dripple down his hand where it reached the floor. So mesmerezing. Earlier, during the fight, he had another episode of madness, similar to one of his first cases where he ripped a werewolf's eyes out with his claws for no apparent reason. Nobody saw him, hopefully, but during the fight, he was most tented to open the Lamassu's ribcage, when he ripped his wings off, so he couldn't fly anymore. He wanted to beat that mythical beast until it had no breath, but would certainly not have been good. He needed to stay human, he needed to look human. One wrong step, and he could become wild again, and probably transform in the madness. Sure, the real William may get his real body back, but the Department would have to deal with an angry Kraken in the middle of Washington DC. No. He needed to keep his cool on.

Reaching Justin he patted him on his back. Justin fought well that day. He helped the guys repell Lu Bu, fought a lot of creatures inlcuding that particulary angry Gryphon and generally helped around. Hopefully, Greyston would consider hiring him for the Department. Pulling out his phone, he texted Greyston.

''Hey, I heard you're looking for the escaped basilisk. Mind if I tag along?'' @KattRai

Meanwhile Justin set around waiting for something to do. Approaching Fred he overheard her conversation. ''Hey, name's Justin. I could get those supplies for you, if you don't mind'' @OriginalDaydreamer

She nods her head before tying her hair back into a messy bun to keep it out of her way before taking up a box of gauze and antiseptic. And gets to on work cleaning and bandaging wounds, using what she can of her magic to soothe the worst of the physical pain.

She continues on like this for a while, turning away from her task only when she hears Justin address her. Hearing his idea she smiles and tucks a stray curl behind her ear before giving him the address of her shop on a strip of gauze. "When you get there just call out for Bartholomew, he'll help you gather everything that I'll need." She says before turning back to her task. She turns aroud once more to say, "Thanks." Before busying herself with the wounded.

"Barty, there's a cute guy, I mean there's a guy coming to the shop..." she stumbles over her thoughts and unsuccessfully attempts to recover. "Help him get this list of things." If a mental essence could smile Barty's would have been at that moment but instead further ribbing her he simpky says, "As you wish luv." Before settling in to wait on this 'cute guy'.

Greyston checked his phone as he ran, slowing slightly, and shot a quick text back, saying only No, I don't. He slowed to a stop when he finally found the creature, and sighed. "Right, here we go." He mumbled to himself, soaked through and through from the relentless rain that Galleytrot had pointlessly summoned before moving to attack the Basilisk.

Liliana smiled a bit at Piper, and said, "I'm Liliana. You are Piper, I assume? Based on the names being thrown about, anyway." She looked around and watched the witch work for a little while before helping straighten up the headquarters. She was certain it wouldn't be long before there were far more important things to be done.

Wednesday watched Bael a little, and then turned back to the injured. She used her abilities to heal what she could- apparently being a doctor when you died means that you can heal people in the afterlife. It was that or her watery demise, she assumed. Her hair and dress floated about annoyingly, and she kept having to move it away. After realizing there were a few dead around, she looked at Piper, and wondered if her zombie needed more food for now or not.

Melody was still out with those who had been evacuated. It was able to hear everything the department agents said to each other through their bluetooths (blue teeth?) and figured it could act as a communicator of sorts between what was happening, the agents, and the citizens. It watched the pouring rain outside and waited for the next attack. It knew this wasn't over yet- it had heard enough tv plots to know it was never easy.

Piper nodded. "Nice to meet you, Liliana. If you want to help here, you do that. I don't have any real orders right now. We're all just... Waiting." She looked up over her shoulder. "The lych is out there, but we don't know where or when it plans to attack again."

Bael continued his work, then froze suddenly, eyes locked on something turned over near a window. He tentatively walked over to it, staring. It was a grand piano.

Carefully, the poltergeist took ahold of it and slowly began to push the great instrument upright. He treated it with great gentleness compared to his usual demeanor, and after he found and sat the bench up, he pressed one of the keys softly. Looking around, it appeared no one was paying attention, so he sat down and played. Remarkably, the piano was only damaged on one key and it remained in-tune.

Smiling, Justin nodded back and left the Department in a hurry. Giving her one more look, he muttered to himself ''Damn''he said admiratevely before exiting to the street. Looking to the adress he wrote, he smirked to himself. He was going to be there in no time. Leaning down he harnesses pressure into his feet and then did a huge leap up, propulsing himself into flight mode. Gaining speed as he flew, among the birds through the sky, he reached the shop. Hovering to an landing, he opened the shop's door slightly, then cleared his throat and called out. ''I'm looking for Bartholomew'' he said as he glanced around the room, expecting someone to come out. ''I'm supposed to deliver some supplies for a friend of his'' @KattRai

"We subdue it, unless you've got any giant mirrors? Avoid looking it in the eye and stay away from the mouth- it's extremely poisonous, and has some absolutely awful breath." He motioned to a crack forming in the brick of the building in front of the basilisk. "If we could get it back to newer section of the city- with the walls of glass. Supposedly if the creature sees it's own reflection it'll die of fright- we weren't able to accomplish that last time, so we just locked it up." Greyston said.

Liliana nodded and continued helping out around the building.

Wednesday saw Bael playing the piano, and enjoyed listening to the music he played while she worked. She began humming part of the tune to herself.

Allerio, under the name of Aeron Everlight, was busy with the preparations of a mass healing spell for those affected by the poison. He wrote a gigantic magic circle on the ground, in a zone close to nature, thus the reason for his absence during the lich's attack. He was finished and contacted all hospitals to bring the poison affected individuals to where he was so that he could activate the spell. After all patients were placed in the circle , Allerio placed his left arm on the circle and his right one on his chest and whispered: ''Serenity''. As he did so around half of his mana was absorbed and a green pilar of light came from the skies towards the circle. The patients could feel as all their wounds and the toxins from their bodies were eliminated and their bodies rejuvenated. Allerio did not wait for them to thank him. Just as he finished the spell he ran away, to his hideout and thought about a few things. Afterwards he took out his bow and put on his dark archer costume and mask. He went out towards the Department's headquarters, but as soon as he arrived he saw them fighting a lot of ancient creatures. ''This isn't the work of the necromancer...Nevermind , that's not important right now'' he thought to himself as he launched two arrows at the Basilisk's eyes, accurately. ''May the winds be my blades'' he said as a bunch of compressed air razor blades were generated and hit the ancient creature.

Allerio turned to Corin. ''We need to talk'' he said.

@KattRai

Greyston had nodded to William, preparing to attack when something else did. He turned to see the newcomer, surprised at who he was met with. "Ah, yes, our terrorist vigilante. I wondered if you might show up. What is it you need to discuss?" He glanced back toward the basilisk, making sure it was safe to ignore for now.

William burrowed his eyebrows as he looked at the archer. So this is what the vigilante looked like. An elf. Interesting. Standing by Corin's side and not meaning to interrupt their conversation, he stood by Greyston, hands crossed, while glaring at the archer, making it known that he was going to do anything to protect Corin.
