Astrid had woken up early the next morning the ability to be that close to him and Kain refuse to to touch her was beginning to get irritating

-

Eric carried her suitcases inside and set them down pulling her into the covers with him and quickly drifted off until morning.

Kain woke up in his bed, it had been a few weeks since Astrid had gotten her wolf. It had also been a few weeks since he'd touched her again. Every time it was brought up, he shot it down and would shut down for the rest of the day. He knew it was irritating but it went against himself as a mate to hurt his mate.
-
Jay shifted in the bed, pushing herself into Eric's arms, not wanting to wake up.

Astrid was curled up in her bed, for weeks she had been trying to get Kain to even attempt to further the bond but he would only shut her further out. She was upset but her wolf was growing resentful having actually snapped at him a couple times in anger. She finally walked out “I’m going hunting Kain before she does something she’ll regret.” She just walked out the door without another word knowing he’d scramble up to follow.

Eric just held her tighter but was fast asleep. He’d been worn out trying to keep things in check for Kain. While he was always doing Kain’s work having to cover other events was a lot on bim

Kain had heard her words, and got up. He knew she and her wolf was upset with him. It was very clear to him that something was going to break and he wasn't sure what. He walked out of the bedroom, threw on a coat, and headed out of the cabin. He followed her scent, searching for her.
-
Jay snuggled into his chest. She knew he'd been under a lot more lately. She did her best to help, but there were things she just couldn't help with. So she would try to comfort him a night, helping him relax.

Astrid hadn’t even waited for him knowing he was capable enough of hiding her at some point. Just angry enough she let her wolf have full control though if anything she was worse. Stalking through the forest she was attempting to find the scent of anything. Prey had been incredibly difficult to find lately which wasn’t helping.

-

Eric stirred with a mumble starting to toss a bit. He already knew Kain’s schedule having to keep him in line all the time for meetings and things but having to plan it all and do it was a lot. Kain and Astrid had stopped making progress to and he’d gotten to be kind of snappy

Kain followed her scent slowly. He wasn't sure what he'd find when he eventually caught up to her, but he made his way closer.
-
Jay felt him tossing and purred, trying to calm him down, increasing her scent as well. She had been on the receiving end of his snappiness before and she tried to be understanding but she knew the pressure he was under was a lot for someone who wasn't ready for it.

When Kain got to close for her wolf’s liking she bared her fangs at him clearly trying to follow the scent of something and he was messing that up.

-

Eric just pulled her tighter with mumble in his sleep. While he’d been struggling with all the new responsibilities, Kain being short with him more frequently had been the hardest part.

Kain backed up as he'd apparently come to close. He walked a few feet and sighed, sitting on the ground and waiting for something, he just didn't know what.
-
Jay didn't want to hold a disdain towards her king, but this was getting upsetting to her. Her mate was struggling and there wasn't a think she could do for him. All she knew was she had to be there for him. She buried her chest into his with a purr.

Astrid’s wolf returned to the hunt she was on and vanished into the forest. She was angry at him to the point she hadn’t fully been paying attention to her surroundings as she caught onto a scent.

Eric sleepily started to wake and pulled her in closer to his chest, wrapping his arms around her torso. He pressured a little kiss to the mark “good morning.”

Kain had started pulling up pieces of grass, ripping them in his frustration. He knew what he wanted, but he was being a coward. He didn't want to hurt her, but it seemed like it wasn't working. He growled in annoyance, slamming his head against the tree he'd sat in front of.
-
Jay smiled, snuggling right into his chest as he pulled her closer. She purred at the kiss on her mark. "Good morning to you too."

Astrid’s wolf flicked her ears hearing his frustrated cry and fists against the tree but just ignored him. She’d caught onto a scent of a deer herd and stalked into the treeline but was so distracted she didn’t notice the scent of rouges near the border.

Eric just tiredly held her with a soft smile “what would you like to do today? I have a few things to finish but I’m am all yours after that

Kain sighed, he was so frustrated that he didn't notice something was off. He had no clue that there was anything out here that was considered a danger to them.
-
Jay looked at him with a smile. "Um, I'm not sure yet. Honestly this is pretty nice." She was still kind of tired herself. She sighed though, knowing he had stuff to do first.

Astrid stalked through the trees, locking onto a young deer and lunged easily taking it down after a few minutes of struggle. Her head snapped up though scenting the air thinking she had caught something but returned her attention to her meal when the scent of the deer below her overwhelmed it.

Eric smiled softly “then we can stay here a little longer…. The work isn’t going to be going anywhere.”

Kain stood up, he wasn't sure why he followed her, her wolf was as upset with him as Astrid was. He looked out into the woods, kicking a pinecone on the ground with a frustrated huff.
-
She looked at him. "Are you sure? I don't want to pull you away from the work" She said, watching him.

Astrid’s wolf just tore into the deer but her head snapped up hearing two separate growls as two wolves crept from the treeline looking intent on taking her meal. She stood over it baring her fangs trying to scare them off not willing to give it up

-

Eric smiled softly “it’s things that can wait for you. They won’t be going anywhere it’s not like Kain was ever on top of them anyway.” He was starting to hold a little resentment to Kain, he’d left behind a mound of work Eric had been asking him to get done and now it feel on his shoulders.

Kain heard growls in the distance, headed that way. He wasn't sure if it was her or something else and that was enough to spur him to go check it out.
-
Jay sighed, hearing him. "He was thrown into this just like you were love, how long has he been king? A few months before this whole situation? I'm sure he didn't want to leave it all on you." Jay said, moving her hand to his cheek. The last few weeks, she'd tried to remain a voice of reason, she didn't want her mate to start hating his best friend.

Astrid snarled snapping at the two who were trying to get ahold of her deer but in her cloudy mental state she didn’t notice the third stalking through the trees. Fending off two was easy enough but a 3rd was taxing, her wolf however was to angry to back down.

She snapped lunging at the smaller one but cried out in pain as she was tackled by a third and felt his claws sink into her sides. Kicking him off she scrambled upright as they circled her

Eric looked down at her with a soft sigh “he was supposed to be raised and learn how to do this all.. he didn’t like his parents not that I blame him but he chose to just not..” He’d been relying heavily on her reasoning just frustrated he couldn’t enjoy any time with his mate.

Kain picked up the pace, hearing Astrid cry out in pain. He appeared in the clearing to see three rogues surrounding her. He snarled deeply, walking to the first rouge he saw and slammed his fist into the wolf's skull. Kain felt the crack under his fist, finally having something worth it to punch. He turned towards the next one.
-
Jay sighed, she knew his parents weren't that great. "If he'd listened to his parents and did things their way from the beginning, I wouldn't have found you. He's changing everything on top of a messed up mate bond" She said, leaning up and kissed him gently.

Astrid focused on the larger male who had wracked his claws down her side while Kain dealt with the other two. She was dwarfed by him but still wasn’t standing down from her kill lunging at him again as they met in a mound of tooth and claw. She sank her fangs into his shoulder the same time he locked onto her leg as they both cried out in pain and the male finally bolted seeing Kain having dealt with the other two.

—-

Eric’s frustration seem to melt away at her kiss but grumbled “ they were terrible.. I’m not saying follow there rules I was just saying he could’ve at least learned how to do some of this paperwork.”

Kain had swiftly finished the second one off before a cry of pain reached his ears. “Astrid” He saw the larger rogue dash away and he stepped up before stopping. His desire to heal was overriding his worry to hurt her. “Let me heal you” he said, dropping to his knees as a form of respect and submission.
-
Jay rested her head on his chest. “I get it but unfortunately all we can do is hope they figure everything out” She didn’t know how to fix this, but she was trying.

Astrid back away, dropping when she put weight on the injuried leg before yanking it off the ground. She bared her fangs at him, he’d been refusing to touch her for weeks and her wolf wasn’t willing to accept it now.

-

Eric just breathed in her scent finally beginning to relax again just pulling her onto his chest with a playful kiss

He sighed, this was biting him back. “I’m sorry. I didn’t want to hurt you more than you are. I was being selfish and dumb. I, I don’t know what to do know like I didn’t then. Poor decision after poor decision and you’ve both paid for it. I was a fool to not fight for you sooner. Please love, let me heal you.” He was basically begging at that point. His neck bared in submission, eyes cast to the ground as he talked.
-
Jay felt him relax and smiled when he kissed her. She snuggled into him, not wanting to move at all.

Astrid’s wolf wasn’t having it as she bared her fangs returning to the deer laying nearby and started eating. She was bleeding pretty and clearly weakening but her wolf’s anger towards him and overridden anything else currently.

Eric held her until his stomach growled “we can return to this after breakfast?”

Kain huffed in frustration. “Fine! I’ll be at the cabin” He growled out, forcing himself to move away. It was more difficult that he thought it would be. Every instinct he had telling him to run back and heal her anyway. He didn’t want to end up like that deer though.
-
Jay giggled before she nodded. “I think that’s a pretty good idea” She smiled, reluctantly removing herself from him and standing.

Astrid’s wolf finished the deer not even giving Kain a second look as she matched his growl, the adrenaline was wearing off though and she suddenly realized just how bad off she was. She was almost positive her hind leg was fractured and the claw marks down her sides were bleeding more as she moved about. Astrid’s voice of reason had finally broke through and she whimpered gimping back towards the cabin

Eric chucked and stood but playfully scooped her up “you suppose?”
