Carlos Da Silva and Asher McCoy
Aspiring Artist and Former Hunter | 23, 29 | Current location ;; New Mexico

Though it seemed like a great plan, enacting the plan was not so easy. Carlos was not about to leave without Kaleb. Period. He watched Jordan disappear and realized that if he left now, he might be safer, but he would not know if the others needed help. He crept along towards the front of the building, looking back over his shoulder in the hopes that he could see if the others needed anything. Suddenly, he had clawed hands grabbing onto him, trying to bite him. He pushed at the stalker, kicking at him to get off, and when he was finally able to, rammed it with the pipe twice. The pipe bent so badly he couldn’t use it after that, even if the stalker dropped. Two down. He hoped that the others were okay. Asher moved quickly through, though now that the screeching had begun, the others were coming out. They were being swarmed. He shot one, two- The third was a loud bang that reverberated around them as the silencer broke. He swore under his breath. A clicker came screeching their way, and Asher had just enough time to shove Kaleb out of the way before it grabbed at him. “Get out,” he ordered Kaleb as he maneuvered his hand free so that he could pull the trigger on his gun again. No reason to be stealthy now.

Jordan had gone before he realized that Carlos had not left the building. He moved down the hall when he heard the screeching pick up and he bit his lip, his blood running cold as he pulled his own gun up, firing at the first runner he saw. Then the clicker, he was close enough to hear Kaleb and then another gunshot. "No! I'm not leaving you!" Kaleb said, pulling his own pistol and firing at a runner. Jordan knew that if they didn't get Kaleb out, Carlos would be extremely upset and so once he was close enough, he grabbed Kaleb's arm and dragged him. "No. Let me go! Jordan!" Kaleb called as he was pulled out of the mass of infected that was building. He knew Asher would be right behind them and he got Kaleb out to the front door, pulling him through when he saw Carlos. "Carlos!" He called, beckoning the man to come out with them. They'd have a better chance to defend when they could see better.

It was like a gate opened and allowed the floor in, because Carlos was no longer alone. There were so many infected all around him. He could take out one but at the risk of three more potentially getting to him from behind. He punched, kicked, and ducked, trying to survive this onslaught. He whipped his head around to Kaleb’s voice. Relief filled him as he realized that Kaleb was okay. He changed course, ducking and running through the rest to follow them out. He pushed through the front door and nearly stumbled in the light. He turned to run backwards to make sure that nothing was following. There were some. He picked up a brick and smacked the runner in the head so that it was dazed as he threw an arm around its neck and snapped it. He hopped backwards, trying to get distance between this building, and turned to his people. Jordan and Kaleb. “Where’s Asher?” Asher was still inside, having been focused on shooting anything that went near the retreating two. He knew that was at the risk of himself. He managed to get halfway to the door when it was blocked by a clicker. God he hated those. He shot at it, but his aim was off as his arm was wrenched to the side by an infected that grabbed at him. He kicked at it, and it crumbled to the floor enough for him to aim and shoot. Except that he was out of bullets. So he ran.

Jordan groaned, hearing and seeing all the infected. It was as if the entire city's infected was in this building. He pushed his way outside with the other two and he looked back to see the door blocked by a clicker. A clicker that moved at the sound of a gunshot but did not drop. "Carlos! Protect Kaleb. I'll be right back!" He called, shooting the clicker in front of him and he looked around, shooting and stabbing the infected as he looked for Asher. "Gorgeous!" He yelled, bright grey-blue eyes searching desperately for any sign of his love. He stayed near the door, keeping it clear from the infected. His gunshots drawing them towards him. He wasn't going to leave this building until he had Asher in his arms.

Carlos watched Jordan run back in and he had this sense of dread. Like this was the end of something. He did not want it to be the end of his friends’ lives. He stayed by Kaleb, knocking down the infected that came out of the building. There were fewer wanting to come out. That was probably because of all the fun things happening inside. This must have been why this door was locked. Next time, leave a note he thought. “Lovebug, you’re supposed to be out of this god forsaken building!” Asher growled as he dodged one infected after another. It was easier now that Jordan was drawing all of their attention. He caught sight of him and was running straight for his person when he was knocked to the ground. He didn’t see what it was. The force of it made it impossible to breathe right. He coughed on the floor, unable to do anything else. He was only a couple of feet from Jordan.

Kaleb stayed beside Carlos, dread in his stomach as he fired at infected as they came out of the building. He didn't want to lose his friends so soon. Jordan heard Asher's words and actually laughed a bit. "Yeah well, I told you, I wasn't leaving your side." Jordan said as he downed another runner. He watched Asher run towards him, dodging infected. His heart stopped, blood freezing in his veins as he saw Asher get knocked to the floor from a stalker. Not happening. He took two quick long strides and slammed his pipe into the thing's head, shoving it off Asher and he grabbed his arms. He pulled him up to his feet. "Come on gorgeous." He said, turning to take him out of the building and into the open street.

Asher was up off the floor as Jordan pulled him up. He was having a hard time moving, but he could do it with the help of Jordan and the adrenaline. His heart was beating a million times faster than usual as they moved out of the building. Carlos left Kaleb’s side as Jordan pulled Asher out, he rammed with his entire body weight against the door to get it to shut. He could feel the pounding of the infected that ran after them. “Kaleb, are you able to start blocking this with literally anything? I can keep it shut.” He wasn’t going to ask Jordan when Asher was only barely standing. He had blood seeping down just about everywhere that Carlos could see. He really hoped none of those were bites.

As Jordan took Asher into the light, and Kaleb had to break himself free from the sight, he saw all the blood. No. Nonono.. Jordan laid Asher down on the ground, looking up at the other two. Tears tracked down his face as fear crawled into his veins and he felt so cold. Kaleb quickly blocked the door with everything thing he could possibly find. Meanwhile Jordan knew they had to get out of the city, get somewhere safe where he could assess the damages. So Jordan picked Asher up in his arms and when the door was blocked, sighed. "We need to move, now. Get back to the forest. Anywhere that isn't here." Jordan said, his voice tense and worried at the same time.

Carlos stayed against the door until Kaleb had enough to hold it so that he too could help block it. He considered pulling out his knife and carving some sort of message somewhere, but then he decided that if someone spent enough time unbarricading this to get through, then they were determined to do something, and it was not worth the effort, especially because they needed to move now. Asher wriggled in Jordan’s arms. “P-put me down,” he coughed, weakly smacking at his arms. “I can wal-“ he was interrupted by the pain that jolted up his arm. Carlos grabbed the gun from Asher’s hand, the one that he was waving around as he talked. Asher would have whined about that too, but it was empty anyway. “Agreed, I don’t think this town has anything good for us.”

Once the door was properly barricaded, he looked at the other two, and nodded to Jordan's words. Meanwhile Jordan just held on tighter to Asher, feeling him wriggle in his arms. "Nope. I'm not setting you down." He said, feeling the weak smacking on his arms. Jordan looked at Carlos, seeing him take Asher's gun. "Come on you two. Let's get moving now before we find more 'friends' or they find us." Jordan said, kissing Asher's head and then holding him close. He headed to the edge of the city at a brisk walk, Kaleb taking Carlos' hand and following.

Asher fought for a little longer, probably only long enough for Jordan to start walking and then gave up, because now that he wasn’t actively moving and fending for his life, the adrenaline was wearing off, and he hurt too much to argue. His head rolled to the side looking for Kaleb and Carlos. They were right there too. He sighed and closed his eyes. They were okay. Good. He was so worried that they had not made it out. That they weren’t okay. He raised a hand and squeezed at whatever part of Jordan he could reach. It might have been his arm. It might have been his chest. “Lovebug. Are- Are you okay?” He needed to know. He needed to know if Jordan was hurt too.

Jordan noticed that Asher fought a little longer but it stopped when they started moving. He could feel Asher's head roll and he flicked his gaze to the other two. Then he felt the squeeze from Asher on his chest and heard his question. Jordan took a moment to mentally assess himself. "I'm fine. No bites or scratches." Jordan replied. Kaleb on the other hand felt something odd on his arm but it wasn't until he went to scratch an itch on his cheek when he caught the metallic scent of blood. His hand had blood dripping down his fingers from a cut on his upper arm from when the runner had pushed him down. He also had a cut across his chest, his blue shirt stained dark.

If he didn’t feel so awful, Asher might have rolled his eyes and said something snarky. Maybe. Also maybe not, because now that he really was giving in to not being able to move himself, it was a like a crash of utter despair was pouring over him. Jordan was okay this time, but what about next time? He kept his eyes closed and tried not to think about it. Carlos followed Jordan, keeping his eye on anything and everything around them. He had some nasty bruises that would truly form later. His arm still hurt from when he fell so far before, and that felt like he might have re-angered those injuries. He was okay though. Winded, tired, and not exactly doing the best, but he was okay. As they moved, he realized that it was not as quiet as they originally thought. All these buildings were boarded up or blocked. They were caved in. He had a feeling there were a lot of infected throughout these walls.

Kaleb tucked his arm to his side, and hoped beyond all hope that Carlos wouldn't notice. He just wanted out of this city, though his limp came back, having twisted the leg too when he fell. Jordan saw the forest right in front of them, and as the scenery changed from city to woods. "We'll get a good amount into the woods and then stop to assess wounds and clean them." Jordan said, flicking his gaze down to Asher in his arms. He was a little sore, but he was fine. Kaleb was ready to stop for the night and assess, he knew his arm and chest would need to be cleaned and wrapped.

The woods sounded better than this city. As they moved into the trees, Carlos gave it one last look, and he was almost certain that in the window of one of the buildings, he saw something move. It was a good thing that they were leaving. At least everyone made it out. They walked for a while, Carlos moving closer to Kaleb when he noticed the limp. He did not want to overstep, but he could be there if Kaleb needed him. His hurt arm hung beside him as they moved. After a while, he asked, “Is this good?”

Jordan kept walking, ignoring the occasional twinge in his back as he moved. He heard Carlos' question and nodded, coming to a halt. "This is good." He agreed. Kaleb noticed that Carlos had moved closer to him and as they stopped, he sighed heavily. "Carlos. I need your help." Kaleb whispered, turning to his partner, showing the now dried blood on his fingers. Meanwhile Jordan set Asher down on the ground. "Time to check those cuts and scratches gorgeous. Make sure you don't have any bites." Jordan said, grabbing his medical kit.

Carlos bit back the fear when seeing the dried blood. Instead, he smiled and nodded. “Of course,” he whispered back. “Let me help you sit down so I can take a look?” He put his hands out so that they could move to a more comfortable position before stripping out of the bloody garments. Asher was quiet the rest of the time that they walked. He was quiet when they stopped. He was quiet when Jordan put him on the ground. He sat up, because he refused to be laying on the ground. He didn’t care if it hurt. He wasn’t going to do what he did after being stabbed. There was no wallowing in a forest like he was incapable. He had cuts, scrapes, and who knows what else all over. His entire body stung. There was so much blood that he thought he might have red skin now. At least it was just him.

Kaleb saw the smile and nodded, taking his hands and maneuvered himself into a sitting position. He pulled off his shirt with his good arm and there was a cut across his chest that went from one side to the other but it wasn't deep just bled a little. The cut on his arm was deeper but still did not require stitches. It went from the top of his shoulder and ended at his elbow. Jordan worked on pulling off Asher's bloody garments as well, and took a rag and some water. He started wiping off the cuts and scratches and all the blood. Turned out, there were a few good sized cuts on his chest and arms, and legs but no bites. The wounds just bled a lot. "I've decided something gorgeous." Jordan mused as he worked to clean Asher up.

Carlos pulled out his rags and alcohol to start cleaning off all that blood. “You, my love, have never looked better.” He grinned as he worked on cleaning his chest first and when that was done, moved to Kaleb’s arm and fingers. “We can tell the world of your heroism and show off all these cool scars you may now have.” He smiled over at Asher who was staring another direction as Jordan cleaned him off. He had already looked over to see Kaleb, and though he could tell that those were not too bad, that did not seem to matter. How hurt would he be the next time? He slid his eyes to Jordan. “What’s that?” he asked, though it was apparent from the monotonous tone that he was not in it.

Kaleb looked at Carlos and chuckled softly, shaking his head. "Oh good. I thought my looks were ruined forever." Kaleb commented as he watched Carlos move from his chest to his arm. "Is that so? I'm sure the world would love to see my scars." He added as he saw that smile, he too looked over at Asher. Jordan heard that monotonous tone and was never more right in his decision. This couldn't go on. "I've decided that we should stop traveling, and go check out this town where Joel is supposed to be. What do you think gorgeous?" Jordan asked, this city had, had way too many close calls and he didn't want to imagine what another city would be like.

Carlos worked on the last bit of Kaleb’s arm. “Do I count as the world, because I would absolutely love to see your scars.” Of course, Carlos would always love to see any part of Kaleb. He loved every part of his no matter what. He turned his attention to the side as he heard Jordan. That was an interesting line of conversation that they were having. Asher was not sure what Jordan was saying. He stared at him for a long moment, his brows knitting together. “What?” Was he serious about that? Was he really done with traveling? “Do you… do you mean that?” All Asher wanted was to do exactly that. He didn’t think that he could do this again. He could not keep walking into danger for no reason. He could not watch everyone almost die over and over without cause anymore.

Kaleb looked at Carlos and chuckled, as he nodded. "I guess you would count as the world.." He said with a grin before his head turned to Jordan hearing him. Hmm. Jordan looked at Asher, hearing him and he nodded. "I do mean that. I'm sick of traveling and I'm ready to enjoy life with you, find Joel like the plan was a year ago. It's time to settle down." Jordan agreed, he was never big on traveling but it was something he'd gotten used to doing. But now he had Asher, and he didn't want to lose him for no reason. "Ready to go to Jackson?"

Yes. He was more than ready. He had been ready for a long time. Maybe he was not ready at the very beginning of their travels, because he needed to get use to having Jordan there. Maybe he needed some time to learn who he was outside of Pittsburgh, outside of being a hunter, but now he knew that. He knew that he was better with Jordan. He was so scared that he was going to lose Jordan. After meeting Kaleb and Carlos, that fear only got worse. He was distracted for a while. Happy for a while. Then he got to know Kaleb, and he knew that this was not something that he could do. He could feel it draining him. Weighing him down. He turned his eyes to Kaleb. They had only just met. They were forming this really interesting relationship that Asher did not want to end. He was learning about people. Not to judge so fast. He looked back at Jordan and didn’t know what to do. Now that he was getting what he wanted, he didn’t know how to do it. “Come with us?” He knew that Kaleb and Carlos were listening. “Come with us to Jackson? We’re trying to find his old mentor. Someone who was like a father, and we think we figured it out. There’s this place. Jackson. It’s a community apparently. One where people live there like the world didn’t end. Come with us?”

Kaleb listened, he heard Asher’s question but he didn’t want to stop traveling. He’d been stuck in one Zone for twenty five years, and he wasn’t ready to go back to living one place again. As scary as the world was out here, it was also thrilling. It was different and wonderful and crazy. Kaleb looked at Carlos and then at Asher. “I.. I don’t think I’m ready to stop traveling. I want to see more of the world. But.. Carlos if you want to, we can go with them.” He said, not wanting to make the decision for his partner. Jordan heard Kaleb’s decision and his heart sunk, knowing that Asher and Kaleb had quite the bond already. He wouldn’t force them to go with them though, that would be unfair.

Asher bit his lip at Kaleb’s response. It was so hard to ask someone to give up their way of life for something else. Something that was so similar to what they were running from. Asher knew that they came from a Quarantine Zone. He knew that they only just got used to being free. As much as Kaleb’s answer hurt, knowing that he would choose to be out here than be with them – be with him, he still held on to a small dash of hope as they turned to Carlos. Carlos sat beside Kaleb, his hands in Kaleb’s. The offer was sweet, and he had to admit that he was tempted. He smiled at the two of them and then at Kaleb. “Where my beautiful Blue Eyes goes, I go. We left the Zone to live our own lives that weren’t controlled by someone else. We wanted to explore. See the country that those walls hide from us.” He looked back at Asher and Jordan. “Thank you, but I think we are going to keep going. He ran a hand down that long line now on Kaleb’s arm. “We haven’t seen enough yet.” Asher looked down, away. Then he nodded. He didn’t want to do that. He couldn’t take that any longer, and Jordan was willing to stop for him. He could not squander that. He smiled at Kaleb specifically. “It won’t be the same without you.”
