Fantasy A Guild of Their Own

Adelia's eyes snapped open as she caught hold of Carlos before he could fall. "You okay Carlos?" She asked, looking at him with concern before glaring at the brute in front of them. She'd had enough of him now, and was wondering what to throw first. Hopefully a few energy blasts will throw him away. She suddenly stepped away from Carlos, a dark purple sheen enveloping her hands. A low sound could be heard coming from the glow being emitted from her hands. The glowing substance gained a form, and Adelia threw it towards the brute that had hassled them. She watched as the man stumbled backwards, before coming at them both again. Clearly he didn't have magic and thought he could use brute force for this. There was only so far Adelia would allow this to go before she finally used the one technique she's not supposed to, due to it draining a large amount of her energy. She opened her mouth to emit a supersonic scream towards their attacker. He flew back a few feet before running towards them again.

"You're gonna be fine. Nobody comes to the infirmary unless they're injured, or Elder Leopold is telling us we need to move again." Morgan smiled at her reassuringly, leading the way to the infirmary, and then into his quarters. For where they were, his quarters were quite spacious. There was a single bed lying along one wall with a chest and a rug to decorate. He also had a couple of wooden figures he had collected over the years, as well as various dragon scales, all gathered atop a wooden table by the side of his bed. There was a larger table and some chairs in another corner of the room, where Morgan often ate alone. "Make yourself at home. They won't look for you here."

Kemelia glanced around the room before sitting herself in one of the chairs at the table. She set her dragon on it and watched it adjust itself so that it was sitting facing towards her. She propped herself on her arms and just stared at it as it did that same thing.

She stayed quiet for a moment before getting a thought. "Do you name dragons here?"

"We do. Well, more you name it with the name that is bestowed upon you for your dragon." Morgan smiled at her. He then spoke something in the language of the dragons. Nobody really understood the language, just that the knowledge of it was bestowed upon those tamers who were lucky enough to have their own dragons. It was bestowed in small amounts, but the call for their dragon was the first thing to be known. The white dragon appeared outside of his quarters, and Morgan motioned for Kemelia to come over. He opened the hatch he had created so that he could exit into the dense woodland to meet his dragon. "This is Tyafrel. She has been my dragon since I was a boy."

Kemelia stared wide-eyed at the dragon before her. Her fear forgotten again and replaced by wonder. "She's cool..." she said.

Then she turned back to Morgan. "So you have to be given the name for your dragon?"

"THAT IS ENOUGH!"  Pushed Adelia farther behind him. He summoned his power and conjured his Breaker Armor. White light haloed him as the bulky armor formed around his body. The armor dug into the the side walk making large gashes in the stone as he walked forward. The man hesitated but continued his assault. Carlos let his mind calm a bit, "I can see that your drunk," the man started to beat on the cheats piece repeatedly but it didn't affect Carlos in anyway. Carlos grabbed the man by the shoulder with one hand and lifted him off of his feet. "because of that, I'll forgive you for you rudeness," Carlos balled his fist and struck the man in the gut sending him flying out of the ally. "But that was for your assault on Adelia." Carlos let the armor fade and took a breath. "I really hope he's ok."

Adelia watched in awe as Carlos stepped in to protect her. The usual way of protecting her was to leave her to protect the headquarters. Nobody knew of it, and she was the hermit after all. Nobody actually stepped up and in front of her before. She was usually left to fight her own battle, being perfectly capable. Then again, she usually had Morgan by her side to assist her when she used that forbidden technique. Adelia watched the shimmering armor that fit Carlos' body perfectly, despite it's bulkiness. "You didn't have to defend my honor. But I thank you, all the same. It's not a familiar concept, being protected by somebody." Adelia admitted this to Carlos, feeling more and more comfortable around him each passing moment. "I dare say he'll be quite alright upon seeing a skilled physician. Perhaps a broken rib, or just a bruise. He'll heal soon enough." She smiled at Carlos, taking his hand once more to lead him through the remaining alleyways to the inn. In the distance she saw the familiar wooden sign featuring a golden flame from the jaws of dragon upon it. Adelia released his hand as they neared the inn, and lead him inside and over to a table.

"It's not provided by normal means. You'll know what's right for your dragon by looking into its eyes. Then it shall bestow its secrets upon you, such as the name it should have. Nobody understands why this is the way. It is as it is." Morgan reached out and stroked Tyafrel's head, feeding her some treats that he kept in a box near the hatch. He smiled at Kemelia as he explained this.

Kemelia nodded in half understanding. It sort of made sense, while it still sounded odd. She guessed she'd wait until she can actually call her dragon something. Besides that, it was interesting how the Tamers and dragons do things. It was like they were their own kind of guild. A secret one, but still one.

As she thought this she remembered the trouble she caused with the Phoenix guild, and everything after that. She's causing trouble for these people. People who didn't need to help her...

The past fear didn't exist at this point and was replaced by guilt. She started walking back to the table and sat back in the position she had been before.

Carlos sat down and rested. Couldn't help but be concerned  about what had just happened. He could still feel the anger in the back of his mind. Like a dark shadow looming over his conscience. 'That was too close!  I've kept my temper for so long. Why did I get so upset, so fast? Is it her? I've protected people before but never so aggressively'  Carlos looked at Adelia and couldn't put his hand on what he felt. 'I just met her, but I trust her and want to help her.' Carlos continued to stare while lost in thought.

Ariana sat behind her desk, elbows resting on the table, hands propping up her head. The room was quiet, silence only broken by the muffled sounds of the outside world. Letting out a roar, Ariana yawned; She was not tired, she was bored. Ariana stood up. She had to find a cure for this serious affliction. As she shuffled off to the backroom, the young woman stretched her arms and upper body and letting out a comfortable groan. In the backroom, the young woman looked around for any source of entertainment. Her eyes couldn't find anything that would appease her boredom, until she laid eyes on a locked door. Ariana pondered of a short moment and gave herself confirmation with a nod. "I guess I'll do come 'cooking'." She muttered to herself. Pulling on a string necklace, Ariana reveals a silver key from her chest; she then places the key into the lock, giving it a firm twist. Clunk! The door unlocks. Ariana enters the dark room, shutting the door behind her.

Adelia looked at Carlos, with a bright smile on her face. The smile faltered when she noticed his staring, and her face became one of concern. "Is something the matter, Carlos? He's going to be okay, I promise" She asked the waitress that appeared for a glass of water, and waited for Carlos' order. Noticing he was still lost in thought, she gently placed one hand atop of his. Adelia could feel the eyes on her. She was never here with someone, and now she was. Of course they were going to talk and stare. Nevertheless, remembering what Carlos had done for her made the warmth return to her pale cheeks, lighting flames upon her light features.

Morgan watched Kemelia retreat with curiosity written all over his features. He spoke few words to his dragon before she returned to her dwelling. Upon shutting the hatch, Morgan walked over to the girl sat at his table. "No need to look so glum. Everything's okay." He smiled at her reassuringly, before taking a seat opposite her. In times of doubt, Morgan enjoys company as it allows him to refocus and recollect his thoughts.

Carlos snapped out of his daze and locked eyes with Adelia, "oh sorry, I'm fine. It's just that I don't like to use force." Carlos pushed the thought of the man away and began to smile again. "So this is the place you told me about?" The warm light of the fire gave the room a wonder glow, the inn keep looked friendly, and the people seemed peaceful. Carlos looked to the waitress and orders a piece of ham, a baked potato, and a mug of ale. Once done, Carlos looked to Adelia again, "I'm sorry if my actions were overdone. I have a hard time judging my strength when I'm in that armor."

Kemelia sighed. "I know, but I can't help but feel like this is my fault. I was the reason the egg hatched. If I had just left it, I wouldn't have gotten in trouble with the guild. I wouldn't have needed to run, and I never would have come here to get you guys in this mess..." She paused and looked at her dragon. "It might still be stuck at the guild, and I wouldn't want that knowing what I know, but..." She felt the emotions of the day welling up, causing tears to begin to form. She stopped and closed her eyes to try and stop them. If she cried here she'd look stupid. Why on earth am I crying? I've been through worse. I shouldn't be acting up at something like this! She turned her face to the side and hoped Morgan didn't notice.

"Yep. Welcome to the Dragon's Breath inn. Cute, right?" Adelia smiled back at him, her concern leaving her. She understood why someone would not like using force. She didn't much like it either, preferring to just play tricks on people or use it for good. Sometimes force was necessary though. "Don't worry about it. Thank you for stepping in to protect me. Nobody as ever done that for me." She shook her head at the waitress when she asked if she required any food. Her hand remained on his, although she withdrew it and mumbled a hasty apology when the discomfort of people staring settled in and made her more aware of her surroundings, and her actions.

Morgan swiftly moved his chair round as the tears started to form in Kemelia's eyes. Noticing her turning her head, he caught it with his hand. "You don't need to worry. You've not cause us any problems. Honestly, one of the other baby dragons caused a larger problem than just bringing us a new person." Morgan wiped away the tears from her face gently with the pad of his thumb. One thing that was definitely his weakness was people crying. He had an idea. "If you feel guilty, perhaps I could take that burden off of you? Kemelia, you are welcome here. If you weren't, you'd know it."

Carlos could see that others started to look in their direction and could see that it made Adelia uncomfortable. Maybe he could help her by given everyone a small show, 'it's a small enough group. So I should be fine' Carlos stood. "I'll be right back Adelia. I have an idea," he then walked over to the inns bard. The slim man had a lute and a bright look to him. "Pardon me sir? Do you happen to know 'A Light amongst the stars'?" The bars pondered for a bit and nods his head. Carlos hands him 2 gold coins and moved by the fire. The room began to feel with the soft enchanting sound of the bard's instrument. Carlos took a deep breath and let his voice ring throw the air, "The sun has fallen, and the moon now rises. The world falls dim and sky is cold, but hush my child for this fact I know." Carlos let a smile slip as he felt his magic began to take shape, "There's a light amongst the stars!" Carlos let his magic flow feel from his body and let light make the room look as if it was filled with tiny stars. The brightest being above Adelia. "So let the evil flee, and the worries fade away. Let your hopes and dreams fill your heart and forget your pain. For there's a light amongst the stars!" The lights started to move of their own accord. Changing colors and swirling about. But the one above Adelia dance around her only. "Let your life run long, and your mind stay clear. For even when this world darkens to black, your light will be amongst the stars!" Carlos continued to sing hoping that he was helping Adelia have a bit of fun.

At first, Adelia was confused as to what Carlos was doing. The next thing she knew, she was watching him in awe as he sang. He has an amazing voice. She found herself enthralled by the song, and the lights dancing about the room. Discovering the only light staying in roughly one place was around her, she blushed scarlet. The next thing she noticed was that it was the largest of the lights, and she felt moved. With the scarlet still decorating her cheeks, Adelia was drawn from her chair by the music. She found herself dancing alone. She wasn't the only person dancing either. Many others had stood up to find a partner and dance, Adelia dancing solo in the midst of all of them. It hadn't dawned on her that this could backfire on them, attracting more stares and whispers. She was completely enchanted by the music, humming along with it. It wasn't long before she joined in the singing, quietly and to herself. As she sung, she harmonised with the melody. One thing Adelia wouldn't do was to make herself be heard singing, it was a fortune of having her gift - she could prevent that happening. Her eyes were closed as her skirts twirled around her as she spun and created a multitude of shapes with her body.

Carlos moved across the room letting the lute play on as the room came to life people began to dance and be merry. It's working he always had a talent for making others happy. Carlos made his way over to Adelia who was dancing alone. She was in a twirl with her eyes closed. He stood there in wonder, contemplating what to do. He then decided to follow his heart and caught her mid twirl, "Care to dance with a new friend?"

Kemelia couldn't help but smile at Morgan's words. "I know I am. I'm just scared I'm going to put you in danger if the guild finds me or if that...the owner of that voice comes here. After what you've done so far I don't want you guys hurt because of me."

Adelia let out a quiet eep. She hadn't expected to be caught mid-dance. Her eyes flew open and she instantly silenced her singing. "Oh, it's just you Carlos. You startled me." Her voice was quiet, and she had a smile upon her face. "I would love to dance with you." A light pink dusted her jawline, her face warming at the prospect. As was custom in a dance, Adelia decided to allow Carlos to lead. It took a moment, but she realised he had stopped singing, and wished he'd continue. "Carlos, would you keep singing, for me?" She looked at him with a hopeful expression.

"Don't be afraid. We've been put through many dangers and always come out on top." Morgan smiled softly, glad he could make Kemelia smile with just a few words. "As for the guild, they'll never find you. We've security measures against us being found. You're safe here."

Carlos took her hand and took lead of the dance, guiding them both into what he hoped was decent. Carlos had never danced much. As Carlos and Adelia moved in synce with the Bard's music; he continued his song for her. "So let the evil flee, and the worries fade away. Let your hopes and dreams fill your heart and forget your pain. For there's a light amongst the stars!" Carlos could hear the song slow and he know that the ending was near, but the last part was his favorite. "Although this world be harsh and grey, and evil darkens the day. Let your light shine on through, and those that are lost will follow you." The lights slowed down to a slower pace. The large one rested above Adelia and grew brighter. "And when your hope begin to fade, and evil starts to rule the day. Remember that light inside of you and let It shine on though. Because that light amongst the stars will always be you." And with that the last note was played. Carlos smiled with everything he had. He had never been happier than he was now. Not become the crowd was applaudeding and cheering for him. No it was because of the beautiful woman he held. "Did you enjoy the song?" Carlos walked back to the table with Adelia where the food and drink had arrived.

Adelia looked up at Carlos, a large smile upon her face as they moved as one. She looked upon him as he sung, as they turned and swayed. Captivated, Adelia was almost disappointed when the song came it its end. Upon the ending of the dance, she allowed Carlos to lead her back to their table. "It was incredible, Carlos. Honestly, that was the first time I've been able to dance. I'm just so grateful of this first dance having been with you." She looked upon him with wonder and awe. She couldn't quite understand why she was enjoying herself and getting flustered all because of someone she had met earlier in the day. It confused her, struck her as strange.

Carlos pulled out Adelia's chair so that she could sit. Then took his seat cross from her, "I glad you enjoyed it. My mother taught it to me before her death." Carlos sat back a stared at the lights floating around the room. "It's the first time I've  sang it in years," he didn't want the lights to fade just yet. They reminded him of her. "'Let your light shine on'  she'd always to me. I was her little star." Carlos didn't like to think bad on those days, but he did enjoy remembering the good days. Carlos brought the conversation back to the present. "I'm just glad I didn't step on your toes," a sly grin clovered his face. "I'm not what you could call a ballroom dancer." Carlos watches as the big light landed on the shoulder of Adelia as if it was a pet.

Kemelia wiped away some of her remaining tears. "Thanks. That's reassuring." She said. She felt her dragon rub against her arms in an attempt to not be the only one to make her feel better. She reached over and pet him. "I'm sorry. Crying was a bit of an overreaction. It's just been a long day I guess."

Adelia smiled at the kind gestures from Carlos, and a shy smile crossed her face upon his speaking. She realised how hard it may have been for him to talk about his mother. "I'm sure I could have handled you stepping on my toes." A small giggle escaped her lips before she could catch it and contain herself. For a fleeting moment, she thought of telling him about her past. She caught herself before she could. I hardly know him. It hasn't even been a day... Yet, he's such a wonderful man. It was almost a conflict inside of her, reason against passion.

"Don't apologise for tears. They're no overreaction. You've had a day full of stress and surprises. Most likely a lot of fear for your life thrown in there. Anybody would have broken at some point." Morgan offered her another smile before wiping away all of her tears. He watched the dragons movements, studied how fond it already was of the girl before him. "Seems fond of you." He gestured towards the dragon in Kemelia's arms.

Kemelia looked at her dragon and smiled. "Yeah. I'd suppose that's because it hatched in my care, so it might think of me as his mother. Unless it works differently than others?" She realized that it made sense on her side of things. I might've been the reason why she didn't get rid of it when she had the chance. Because as much as she wanted to deny it before, she hatched it. Which meant she was it's mother in a way.

Carlos' stomach began to growl. He had forgot how hungry he actually was. He took up a Fork and knife then started his meal. He ate slowly and thoughtfully. Making sure to chew food with his mouth closed, keep elbows off the table, and not guzzled down the ale. He may not be part of the upper class but his family had rules at the table. Half way through the ham he looked to Adelia, "You must be hungry. If your magic drains your energy like mine does, then you have be somewhat hungry." He looked to her with a caring expression. "Especially after that siren like wail you used." Carlos paused. Hoping he didn't overstep himself.
