but yeah, assume Gigi took slightly larger than normal portions but not TOO large that she wont be able to take seconds of something she particularly like- not just because she wants Cyn and Rose to eat, but more because she doesnt want her hosts to feel she does not like the meal they prepared for her

also, she's hungry

and tbh Gigi is having the time of her life- worried about Cyn and annoyed at herself for not asking for water for them (i was planning on having her request some, yall beat me to it!) and of course stressed about why she's there in the first place BUT watching the vampires insult each other is an absolute delight

all of the gossip of Allaria is old news to her, and the ways to insult someone all expected... but this is NEW AND FUN

(and is she taking mental notes about what to needle alyx about later? yes)

Ghghh I am glad she’s having a good time. Rose and Leo are both one step away from panic because this is NOT how dinners are supposed to go!!! It’s supposed to be peaceful! Calm!

Cyn is fine he is just the lightest of lightweights in the history of lightweights and he WILL have a headache in the morning. But Rose is just mortified that he tried to strip at the dinner table in front of god and everyone and also So VERY GLAD that he didn’t get any on his pants because he would have tried to take those off too.

Cyn will feel SO MUCH REGRET tomorrow but for now there is only RIGHTEOUS ANGER

Bahahaha, the vampires are going to be so confused because they have no real concept of getting drunk off anything but blood and they KNOW they didn't give Cyn blood and if he's sick, they swear it wasn't due to the food.

Also in Eldergaardian culture, if you don't eat all the hosts put out, they assume you think something's wrong with the food they prepared for you and are insulted xD

Alyx is not having fun. Clan Draya and Clan Salazar weren't really friends even before the war, and she HATES this so much dang it. She much prefers lower stakes insults. She totally forgot Henryk could decide to go after Leo if she insulted him, gaaaah. He did go for the low-blow with insulting her name, so. And if anyone mentions she defended her "betrothed" she will DENY IT.

Astrid is having a great time because she has not eaten like this in MONTHS. PLUS she's learning new things and going over the name of every male vampire commander she knows. She's discarded all the "not cute" ones and Maksim because of course it's not him Alyx hates him.

I feel so bad for Alyx because Leo just abandoned her but Cyn WOULD try to fight Henryk because alcohol gives him courage and gets rid of every inhibition he has and he would probably fall on his face or something and Leo does not want that!

It is HILARIOUS that they think Cyn is the dangerous one and I love it so much. He had to be led away because of his murderous rage... for their protection.

Well they can't see why Cyn would be in the Princess's retinue, so that means he's got some tricks up his non-existent sleeves! Plus, he's married, so that means he must have brought something substantial to a union!

Cyn does have some things up his sleeves! But they are definitely not muscles. His weapon is math. And occasionally a butane torch.

God I can hardly imagine what the vampires would say if they learned about THAT

I wasn't sure if you wanted a drunken Cyn to attempt to join in on the fight or not, so I left it ambiguous. But Henryk brought friends because he's honestly a little worried that Leo is as good with magic as Alyx is.

Honestly the vampires would be like "SCIENCE" and panic or think he could wield fire magic. He could always tell them he melted a silver ring on Maksim's face. Maksim won't admit to it. Honestly, he's telling a dramatic lie when people ask him what happened to his face and it's going to change every time.

Also Astrid is looking around like "Captain?? Where??"

ghgh I love it. I can't blame Maksim, Cyn is so sweet and little, it would be like admitting you got mauled by an angry kitten.

Rose was SO enjoying watching Astrid and Alyx fuck with Henryk he's a bit sad he can't watch it anymore. Vampire dinner theatre is good fun for everyone.

Is the type of magic they are using (the clan using earth, Astrid using wind, Alyx using... idk?) vaguely geographical/hereditary like avatar style, or is based on their species or what they decided to study or what have you

Maksim's going to be like, "A dragon tried to kiss me" or some such nonsense and then grin at Alyx since that's her squadron, and Alyx will just be like, "That was Cyn--If I'd tried to kiss you it would have been with my boot."

I'll admit to having way too much fun with Astrid and Alyx teaming up against Henryk and I would have kept on but Henryk really wanted to go punch Alyx's fledgling after she brought up the boyfriend his mom doesn't approve of.

Also I choked on my tea at Leo's comment that Henryk can't satisfy anyone

Leo is going to call him little-dick-Henryk every time Lucia is not around from now on and there is nothing ANYONE can do to stop him.

Yup, humans can use magic. Most of them in Eldergaard can.

So there's two types of magic: soul magic and ward magic. Anybody can do ward magic, but soul magic is inherited, so it runs in families. *ahem* and yes, it's kinda like ATLA, lol, that might have been my inspiration. There's five types of soul magic (avatar voice): water, earth, fire, wind, and spirit. There are variations (some water magi may be really good at ice, for example). A powerful mage can use all forms (earth, sand, and rock, for example).

Alyx's type of magic is rare and what type of magic it is is hotly debated by people like Astrid's dad. It's energy magic, but they're not sure if that falls in the spirit category or the fire category or what. There are some humans with this ability, but they're rare and they're called "amplifiers" and strengthen the magic of other magi. They can't exactly energize or draw the energy out of their surroundings like Alyx can, though.

And in vampires, they not only pass it onto their children, but their fledglings as well, hence Leo's ability. Which reminds me! Fredrick would technically be able to use Maksim's magic since Maksim turned him the *right way*, if you want. Maksim's is a special brand of spirit magic. He can sort of "read" the intentions behind what people say, and if they're unguarded, he can see their intentions in their actions as well. He didn't see what Cyn was up to because Cyn was being really careful and because he was honestly more worried about what Alyx and Gigi were doing. He now regrets everything.

And then there's ward magic! Which relies on symbols and runes and can be done as long as a person is trained in them. It's easier for magi to use, but non-magi technically can as well, as long as their will is strong enough. Ward magic sacrifices raw power for precision and delicacy.

I wanted it to be enough that I can be like, "and magic solved the problem!" but also have strict rules--like, Alyx and Astrid would totally laugh at Gigi wondering if her clothes fitting was magic because magic can't do that, silly Allarian--because this magic doesn't actually violate any laws of physics, hence the crash that brought Rose to the bathroom xD

Kind of took over some NPCs for the sake of keeping the choreo moving, hope that's ok! Leo is having a grand old time but he will NOT be in the morning when everything hurts. Also they went for his /face/, ugh. Awful.

Rose WILL lecture him about the dick kick because it's just not a very good move from that standpoint! But Leo argues that it was totally worth it.

I mean, Leo was legally obligated to kick Henryk in the crotch.

And Alyx is going to FLIP when she sees those bite marks and HENRYK TOUCHED HER FLEDGLING’S NECK?!?!? She might decide to escalate this over the biting, honestly, Bahahaha. They could pretend anything else was an accident or he fell or something, but not bite marks. Might get Alyx in on the next day’s talks depending how she plays her cards ;P

Leo WAS going to say that he fell in complete confidence, ignoring the obvious finger marks around his throat and the bite marks. And he would look Henryk in the eye the whole time as if to say 'you owe me because i'm not telling your mom on you'.
