I have not had a battle with the new combat system yet to be able to be smooth with it, but it seems to be good. I am very curious to see how it works in practice.

I have not looked in depth in the books to know, are there Airships written up in 3e yet? I have heard that there are now Warstriders statted up in the Arms of the Chosen book.

I don't think that they do. . . But it shouldn't be too hard to pull something in from 2e. Assuming that is what we are going to do.

*facepalm*
Just realized I have not been using my crafting-aligned hearthstone while doing my slew of crafting rolls. So if that would have been +2 dice per roll, and I've rolled at least 12 times...yeah, I don't want to look too closely at that series of mistakes.

getting real damn tired of sectiosn not listing how many you dman well get...

BACKGROUNDS! their things, how many or do i just straight buy these suckers?

Orikanyo Orikanyo , you get 7 points to buy them with. Check the character creation chapter and the alterations here on the forum.

3E crew, I'm seeing Halta (or Haslanti?) air boats as a thing y'all may wanna go for. Disclaimer, I despise vanilla chargen for 3E (BP x XP tables and whatnot) and given y'alls experience with the line, I think we can start with a few more toys. Any other requests before I look at getting a topic up?

I am very sorry for all the work ya'll have done these last two days but... holy sweet buttery Christ this is abit outta my league.. I'm just gonna slink out with my tail between my legs while I can.

Thank you all again for your help, I hope you all have a wonderful time, I'm... Gonna stick to what i know.

2.5E for the Curious and Insane (WIP)
An Exalted Guide by Rykon

Here's a quick reference for what points you get and how to use them. Errata included
Step 1. Concept
Pick a Name, Caste, Motivation, and Concept (this last one has no mechanical implications it just helps you commit to a theme)
Dawn-King Leonidas
Abilities: Archery. Martial Arts, Melee, Thrown, War
Zenith-Reverend Juggernaut
Abilities: Integrity, Performance, Presence, Resistance, Survival
Twilight-Nerds
Abilities: Craft, Investigation, Lore, Medicine, Occult

Eclipse-Nomadic Assholes
Abilities: Bureaucracy, Linguistics, Ride, Sail, Socialize
Step 2. Attributes
Allocate 8 points to a primary attribute group, 6 to a secondary attribute group, 4 to a tertiary attribute group. Each attribute starts at 1, you can raise them up to 5. Assume point spend is 1 for 1 unless specifically called out.
Physical-Strength, Dexterity, Stamina
Social-Charisma, Manipulation, Appearance
Mental-Perception, Intelligence, Wits
Step 3. Abilities
Pick 5 favored abilities that aren't your caste abilities. You get 28 points to allocate across all abilities, at least 10 must fit in caste and favored, each favored (not caste) must be at least 1. You can raise any ability up to 3 with this pool.
Archery-Bows, Crossbows, and Flame Guns
Martial Arts-Fists and Exotic Weapons
Melee-Sword, Axe, Spear, Mace, etc.
Thrown-Knives, Rocks, Axes, so long as your physically throw it, it's valid

Socialize-Manners, Reading People, Interacting with organized groups of people
Step 4. Advantages
You get 7 points to allocate in any background that isn't Artifacts or Manse (up to 3). You get 12 points to buy artifacts (up to 5), and 3 points for manses.
Allies-I don't recommend opening this pandora's box, even for veterans
Backing-The prestige of your day job (should it come with perks)
Contacts-People you can lean on for favors and intel
Cult-Another settlement that needs your help
Followers-The settlement that gives you help
Familiar-Magic animal helper, I don't recommend this for beginners but it's doable
Influence-Fame and Political Importance
Face-Fame but specifically in Martial Arts
Resources-Money
Manse-Magic house that gives you FF7 stat buff materia...and I can't believe it's not mana regen
Artifacts-Magic items that either hurt people, provide damage resistance, or do cool shit generally speaking
You get 5 points to allocate among the four virtues. Each start at one.
Compassion-Empathy. Low is Psychopath, High is Pacifist
Conviction-Give a damn factor, even in things that actually matter to you. Low is Lazy, High is Zealot
Temperance-Self Discipline. Low is Hedonist, High is Ascetic Prude
Valor-Ability to face fear and sense of honor. Low is Courage the Cowardly Dog, High is Achilles
Step 5. Finishing Touches
Your Essence starts at 2, unless you spend 7 bonus points to raise it to 3 (which I recommend you go ahead and do that right now even if you don't know what that means)
Your Willpower Maximum is 5, unless you spend bonus points to raise it. (it's 1 for 1, and it's a really useful resource to buy. This also increases your mental fortitude. I recommend spending 5 points right now to cap it to 10. Raising with XP will bankrupt your great grandchild's XP pool. This is a now or never type deal mathematically speaking if you have even a drop of munchkin in your blood. Dead serious.)
Personal: Essence*3 + Willpower (If you trust me at my word on the two suggestions above this should be 19)
Peripheral: Essence*7+Willpower+The sum of your virtues (Again, if you took my advice, and also didn't add any additional points in virtues this should be 40)

Edit: d'aw just saw Orikanyo's post. Ah well I may keep this for use later.

The Airship idea is just that: an idea. We don't have to do that if anyone else doesn't want to.

What amount of points are you looking to start us off with?

Currently thinking 8/6/4 +2 Attributes, 40 Abilities, 20 Merits (MA merit unnecessary), 25 Charms, and Bonus Points I have a custom table for that looks almost exactly like the XP table but abilities are 3/4/dot Attributes are 8/dot and you will get 80 of these BP (Spoiler, XP and SXP will also use this table). Merits with BP/XP is 3 per dot added to the sheet period (as in going resources 4 to 5 is 3 points). Starting Essence is 2. Also for simplicity, all supernal ability charms treat essence as 5 for all purposes.

Almost forgot, raising any 2nd+ Craft or Martial Art to an equal or lesser rating of your highest is 2 XP cheaper.

There is one more house rule, this doesn't effect chargen. It's a table I use to give XP based on what happens in a limit break.

Hopefully this won't rustle jimmies, as these have been perceived as quality of life tweaks for my local group.

I'm sure that I can work with this. I can make up quite the kick-ass archer with all those points.

Done. Just waiting now for either finished characters for this game or player signs ups for the new one.

I may go ahead and move things forward here slowly, giving our new player time to work on his sheet.

You got them during your time as an Exalt. So, its after character creation.

Yes, you have them at your intro. Sorry if I was not clear on that.

Sherwood Sherwood What is the month order you'd prefer we use for in game? I don't remember ever seeing the actual order listed in canon (though please correct me if I'm wrong), but I did find a neat treatment of it online. Based on their calendar and suggestions, and my weather description alterations to more closely mirror the seasons of Earth, it would be something like this:

Creation_Calendar.png

(1) Ascending Air - Resplendent Air - Descending Air
(cool months ramp up into 'winter')

(2) Ascending Water- Resplendent Water - Descending Water
(wet season/thaw coming out of winter)

(3) Ascending Earth - Resplendent Earth - Descending Earth
(beginning of 'spring' and growing season)

(4) Ascending Wood - Resplendent Wood - Descending Wood
(continued 'spring' and long growing season)

(5) Ascending Fire - Resplendent Fire - Descending Fire
(growing season ends as 'summer' starts and grows)

(6) Calibration
(sun/moon/stars absent from the sky, world covered in perpetual twilight, random flash-storms as extreme heat rapidly decreases to cooler weather)

*Each month is 28 days, creating 84 day seasons, and Calibration is obviously 5 days itself.*

The reason I ask is because I would like to create a 'journal' of Viktor's journey during the 9 months he was apart from the group gathering the ring components. Additionally, it would also provide us a way to track the seasons for purposes of taking certain actions based on natural weather (such as increasing trade caravans with Southern allies during the cooler months or doing less widespread traveling during the wet months when the ground is soft and difficult to traverse). If you were willing to go along with this, around roughly when would the tomb-raid fall on the calendar?

Doing well, still trying to decide on artifacts to craft in the immediate future. How about yourself? Also, what kinds of items could you see Annika finding useful or wanting as we progress in story?

Haven't really thought about that much. Perhaps a Switchklaive, in case she needs to smuggle a weapon in somewhere without using the Summoning the Loyal Steel charm. And also a method of quickly getting messages across long distances, for her spies in rival nations. And what would be a good way to prevent Exalt prisoners being able to use essence/charms, so that she can interrogate them safely?
