There is no such thing as too many Dawn castes... or Night Castes... Especially when one wants to snag rathess from a mad solar running Jurassic park.

Sherwood Sherwood I've finally completed the Crafting rolls for the Artifact Wedding Bands!!! Took me until the end of month 3.2 (eight rolls!), and I was starting to get worried they wouldn't be done in time for Calibration! It was that darn difficulty 5, haha it really ate a lot of the successes I was rolling. If I'd gone with Artifact 2, it only would have needed 30 accumulated successes at a difficulty 4 to roll, but I really became attached to the three esoteric components being used for it and was unwilling to drop any of them. ;)

Moving forward, I would like to use Month 3.3 to attempt a craft roll aimed at reverse-engineering (and dissecting) the Winterbreath Jar that Viktor found in his Solar tomb. For your convenience, I've included the info concerning such actions from Oadenol's Codex (p. 19):

"If the character has access to a functioning artifact, he can attempt reverse engineering. By examining its Essence patterns and its physical form in minute detail, the character can puzzle out how it functions and backtrack through its creative process. The player makes an (Intelligence + Occult) roll at a difficulty of the artifact's rating. Add the roll's threshold to the Artifact rating; the character adds two dice to his crafting rolls for a number of rolls equal to this number. This only serves as a limit; the actual reverse engineering takes place during the time represented by the extended crafting roll.
Risk-takers may prefer to cut their time shorter. Dissecting the artifact allows a character to more intimately see how it works. If the (Intelligence + Occult) roll is successful, double the number of crafting rolls to which the dice bonus applies. This destroys the subject artifact. Botching a crafting roll using this method destroys the artifact prematurely and dangerously in addition to any other effects. The character (and anyone working with him) suffers a number of lethal levels of damage equal to the artifact's rating squared as its Essence explosively flows back into Creation.
Botching on a design roll introduces unnoticed flaws in the design, which negatively impact the final product. This could represent an oversight (not realizing the process must begin under a full moon) or sabotage from a rival. It may manifest by adding a drawback to the artifact (see p. 16) or increasing the severity of an existing drawback. Multiple botches may do both, or stack to create truly legendary drawbacks."

If successful, Month 3.3 would be used to dissect and reverse-engineer the Winterbreath Jar (hopefully destroying it without dangerous feedback in the process), and then the next few crafting attempts would be used to create replicas of it (up to a total max that you'd like me to stop at, I'm considering perhaps 3 for now). These would be useful for storing expensive drinks/delicacies for the wedding reception, and down the road could serve as prototypes for continued work and research into larger forms of cold-food storage (like real-world ice chests and walk-in freezers; which would be both practical and help continue to grow our assortment of tantalizing luxuries). I figured they would be made of mostly metal, with a series of blue Jade facets set in the inner lining to keep a consistently cold temperature inside the container; blue Jade would be provided by Aysik/Holst (as it would not require a large amount), and count as the esoteric component for the jars.

How do you feel about this?

back to work for ori, lets see what i can cook up

If anyone is feeling generous, someone capable of taking Tiger Warrior Training/Legendary Warrior Curriculum would be highly appreciated.

I'll look those up, playing around with ideas rn myself.

Don't forget, if you have any questions, feel free to bring them up and we'll help as best we can.

Also, I am going to give everyone 3 more xp for some great roleplaying. I'll repost this in the Character thread to keep all of our points in the same place.

neat

gonna look at those two charms mentioned before I get into abilities for now, sicne charms go off them as pre req, bets figure out plans beforehand.

Okie dokie, I've actually already been working on a Dawn cast and should have them ready to be posted later today.
Don't forget that if you have any questions, I am obsessive/compulsive about checking the site for new posts and will be able to answer you quickly.

Tiger Warrior Training/Legendary Warrior Curriculum what are there? Charms? Seems to not be in the book it seems..

...also trying to figure out how many charms yea get firts off, or do yea just buy em with bp?

Tiger Warrior and Legendary Warrior are War Charms, on page 197 of the Core book. You get 10 Charms starting out for free, 5 of which must be from your Caste/Favored skill set. After that, you can buy more with your Bonus points, and from the Errata you get 18 BP to be able to do stuff like increasing your Essence, stats, or Abilities. Then, on top of that, you can spend the 31 xp that I have awarded on whatever you like.

Ah yes all that wodnerful xp i worked so very hard for >vv>

Just to let you know, Tiger Warrior Training Technique is a awesome Charm, but it will take six Charms to get it, and a minimum of Essence 3 and War of 4. It is expensive, but great for training people up.

hmm, did plan to have the fellah be strong stamina wise and go into war some, but the idea of doing that... hmm...~!

though... how much mass battleing are we going to be doing?

I was not planning on having everyone do full scale warfare on somebody unless you go that way. Its up to you, but if you want to focus on some other Charms first and see what you have going on, that's cool.

I wouldn't necessarily start with those charms, as long as you have a high war though, building into them will be doable.

yea... seems to be helpful, but also requiring intimate knowledge of the system i don't have yet.

I'll have a comprehensive need to know guide written when I'm at home on a real keyboard. Like Sherwood Sherwood I compulsively check the site on my phone.

My suggestion is to leave those Charms for later, and focus more on whatever style of combat you want to go with, be it melee, archery or what have you.

Hahahaha!!!!! :grinningteeth::grinningteeth::grinningteeth::grinningteeth::grinningteeth::grinningteeth: Now THAT gave me one heck of an enjoyable laugh!!

I compulsively check the site on my phone.
I think I'm in the boat with both of you on that!

Sherwood Sherwood As of Month 5.1, I've completed the three Winterbreath Jars. That leaves 5 rolling opportunities remaining before the conclusion of the sixth month, where the rolls catch up to the current time we're RPing. Gonna have to think a little about what else I want to spend rolling opportunities on crafting. Playing with the idea of reverse-engineering some of the essence crystals from the tomb (assuming you'll allow it), so that working plans can be formulated and Viktor's assistant can begin working on replicating them while the group is gone exploring Rathess. Besides that I'll need to think on which projects need to be prioritized. I know I want Viktor to eventually disassemble his recovered daiklave and reuse its core in the construction of a new goremaul, thereby thematically linking his previous incarnation to his current one through a shared weapon-crafting, but I'd rather avoid doing that until he's had an opportunity to use the blade and discover that his connection to it is in conflict with his desire to wield a hammer (as he is used to). So I imagine the weapon-crafting of his personal weapon will probably not begin until after a few encounters within Rathess, or maybe not even until returning to Gwynnin.

I must say, I am impressed with the level of detail that you are going into on the Crafting stuff. Makes me feel good that you are so interested in the game.
