Fantasy Through The Portal

"Why'd they not just use a tall ladder? that coulda got 'em home real fast!" The golem had no concept of portals. He didn't have a concept of much. "I saw a picture of this really tall ladder in this book! It was made of a bean stalk! Iunno what was happening in the book, but the pictures sure was perty!"
He knew there was no way out but he had hoped he could have kept it a secret longer. "If I tell you you can't laugh or tell the others please."
Bliss nodded and whispered to him, "I would never laugh at another's secret." She spoke gently but with absolute sincerity. The girl was being completely honest here and she wanted to find out why this man, this awe inspiring person who would clearly charge into combat, was scared of timid Bliss.

Shin sighed. "Well um I I uh I kinda sorta kinda sorta have a phobia of girls." Shin cleared his throat embarrassed by his fear.

Bliss's eyes went wide as she sped up her walking a bit, walking side by side with Shin. She bit her lip and spoke softly once more, "One girl is not like the rest. I am sorry. I can promise I won't hurt you." She nodded at her own words, meaning them with every fiber of her being.

Shin nodded. "Yeah I know it's not anything against you and the pain wasn't emotional but mostly physical pain. By my sister."

Bliss gasped softly and bit her lip before saying, "It's going to be fine. I won't hurt you..." She took a deep breath, wanting to comfort Shin but she didn't know how.

"Thanks I guess it's just been more or less a phobia of fighting girls because of my sparing fights with sis. Don't get me wrong I had fun but well when I first decided to follow in my sister's footsteps of boxing. Well sparing was between me a ten year old and sis a professional boxer with the nickname smiling death. Because fighting was the only time sis smiled at first it was nice being her opponent and seeing her smile. But I soon learned true fear when you see her smile it's like death is smiling at you waiting for you."

Bliss listened intently, taking slow, deep breaths as she kept her mouth shut. She was speechless as he explained why he was so scared. She stepped back away from him a bit. "I'm so sorry... I won't bother you any more." She said gently, not wanting to scare Shin or cause him any further stress than what he was already going through.

Kenshi simply brought up the rear. Many of the elves know his by appearance of purple hair with a white portion in the front, they know him as the Holy Swordsman and pupil of the Star Destroyer. They nodded and bowed while Ken returned the gestures.

Shin shook his head. "No it's fine I guess your okay I'm not having my usual panic attacks being around you maybe because of how timid you are just makes you not scary to be around."

Bliss nodded and glanced behind her at the purple haired elf. He seemed very strict and straight forward and to be honest, that intimidated her. She took a deep breath and said, "I try."

"Keep it down back there," Leoch whispered as he stepped through the gates. "Remember: no sudden movements." The compound housed about forty people, most of them elves. The archers that stood on the highest branches in the area watched the group closely, but didn't make any move to attack. A few of the civilians stopped to stare at the humans and began to whisper amongst themselves. Leoch directed the up a long wooden ramp suspended by rope from two wooden pillars. The ramp led up to a large hut, about forty-five feet long and fifteen feet high. "We're approaching the elders' room," Leoch notified those behind him. "Just try not to...be careful of...don't make me look bad, alright?" He took a moment to straighten up his appearance. Though he had a good relationship with the elders of this outpost, he knew all two well that a single misplaced word or a careless expression could ruin that for decades.

Azalea picked up her pace and peered curiously over Leoch's shoulder. "Woah." She breathed, brown eyes widening as they traced the pillers. Her attention snapped back to the elf when he spoke. She suppressed a smirk and nodded seriously, blinking a couple times. "I'll try my best." She glanced over her shoulder at Bliss and Randeruck, raising her eyebrows and rolling her eyes.

Knowing how important it is for Leoch to keep his honor by the way he just spoke he decides that the best option for him is to only speak when only spoken to for the next few moments. He doesn't plan on ruining anyone's life today.

OOC: Hey guys, I've gotta go for the day. Need to sleep and shower and stuff. See Ya tomorrow! :P

"Am I not allowed to be polite?" Bliss muttered to herself a bit louder than intended. She sighed then covered her mouth, looking around to see if anybody herd that. Being herself, she never gave anybody attitude or a hard time, there were already too many people who did that for her.

"Oh, no," Leoch whispered dryly. "If this was my first date, the entire village would be watching us with swords in their hands." He shook his head, trying to rid himself of the traumatic memory. Stepping inside the hut, he saw three cloaked elves standing at the opposite side. They were behind a long oaken table, and their faces were hidden from view. According to elven custom, one elder was the leader of the group, but only they knew which elder that was.

Leoch immediately bowed with his hand to his neck, hoping that the people behind him would do the same. "May the shade of the forest forever guard you, the birds of the air bring you sustenance unfailingly, and the soil always be fertile," he said in his native tongue.

"And thus to you," one elder replied. "I see you have brought guests," another elder mused.

"Aye," Leoch said, carefully considering his next words. "I found them a short distance from here. They appeared relatively lost and confused. They all are empowered."

"You brought several unknown, empowered humans into our camp," one elder said distastefully.

"For your consideration, my lords," Leoch explained quickly. "They could be a great asset to us, especially if we *ahem* spin this to our advantage with the human embassy."

The elders glanced at each other, almost seeming to communicate wordlessly. "An...interesting proposition," the third elder agreed. To Leoch's surprise, he then spoke in the human tongue:

"You there," the elder said to Azalea. "Step forward and state your name, and what business you have in our territory."

Kenshi quickly step forward in front of the whole group. He didn't like the look of this, he never expected Elders to be here. Kenshi despite having many dealings with the elves could not speak there language. The first thing he wanted to avoid was the elves finding out these guys were spit out by a portal. Ken turned backward in a stretching motion and made a signal for them to be quite and let him do the talking. "Elders, I must apologize but they actually have no business here, they don't even know where here is. They're just a lost band of humans. I had happened upon them before Leoch did and even stopped one of them from destroying your grounds. "Kenshi said to Elders. "Also, I'm the Holy Swordsman Kenshi Haimura that trained under the great Star Destroyer. I just request safe passage out of the Elven part of the Little Garden."

@kaito9049 @Miss Mack @Shadowflight13 @Randeruck @Nenma Takashi

Randeruck seeing how Kenshi stepped up so quickly and became very commanding caused him to worry a bit about what kind of situation he and the rest of the party was in. "Safe passage, why is he asking for safe passage we are no threat." he thinks to himself. "this situation is becoming way to uncomfortable I really hope this doesn't end in a fight." He wordily thinks.

Azalea peered around Kenshi, hesitant. She wondered whether she should answer the Elder or not. Would it make things worse? Surely not, there wasn't anything else she could say except confirm what the Holy Swordsman said. She took a tiny step forward and sideways, so that she was still behind Kenshi but not hidden. "Err... My name is Azalea. I don't have any business here, it's as Ken says. I just wound up here by accident. I'd leave quite willingly if you let me, I assure you. All I have done is touched the portal that brought me here. I mean no harm or disrespect to you, your people, or your land." Her speech became more formal as she talked, and she bowed before stepping back again. As much as she would have loved to get angry at being treated like she was a prisoner despite doing nothing wrong, it was safer to comply and let the natives deal with the situation. Besides, she thought, glancing around at Bliss and Randeruck, her actions wouldn't only affect herself.

The elders glanced at Kenshi, then at Azalea, then at each other, never saying a word, yet somehow speaking volumes. Leoch looked back at the girl, surprised. He hadn't know about any portals. Nonetheless, he nodded at Azalea, silently thanking her for her behavior.

After a few seconds of tense quiet, one elder spoke. "This is most...interesting," he said carefully. "Sir Haimura, you have our welcome, and our thanks for preventing the destruction of our land. You may move through our territory as you please, just as long as you do not enter the sacred sites." He paused. "However, we would like to request your assistance."

The elder began to pace back and forth. Leoch noticed that he stood up a little straighter than the others, and his voice was older and help more authority. The younger elf wondered if this elder was the leader. "We have been getting reports of these strange portals, but we know very little of them," the elder spoke. "We would like to question all of you on what you know of these strange anomalies, though it seems that you may know even less than we." He ceased pacing, instead turning to the group. "We want you to scout the surrounding areas and find whatever information you can about these portals. If any of you do not wish to do this, you will be escorted to the nearest embassy of your race. Because of your apparent lack of knowledge, we will also forgive any damages you may have inflicted upon our land." The elder seemed to glare at them. "This time."

Leoch mulled over what he had heard. This sort of thing wasn't really for him. However, he also knew that if the portals were as important as the elders were hinting they were (after all, they were willing to recruit humans--an allowance that was nearly unheard of), then the elven capitals were most likely giving the orders. And that meant that the work would eventually get sloppy, or worse, muddled under politics and corruption. Leoch stepped forward, standing perfectly straight. "If it pleases you, milords, I would like to assist you in this endeavor." One of the elders nodded. "We'd thought you might," he chuckled.

Bliss has frozen, biting her lip and her eyes were closed as she half payed attention to what the elves and Azalea had said. She was trying to focus on not growing any plants around the elves but that just wasn't going to happen. She took a deep breath and slowly unclenched her hands from fists and let small daisies grow all around them. One grew right in front of the elder leader, it's center perfectly yellow and not a speck of dirt on its white pedals. As more flowers kept growing, the little area they were in easily became coated lightly in daisies. Bliss bit her lip, looking down at several of them by her feet. She hoped that the elves wouldn't be mad at her... Since they cared about nature and she was adding to it- Let's just hope for the best...

Cyrin stepped forward bowing and placing his hand on his neck. "Elders please let me help in any way I can it is the least I can do after almost destroying your land." Cyrin knew admitting he was the one who almost destroyed the land was dangerous but he didn't care. He wasn't just going to not own up and try to fix his mistake.

"Thank you Elders." Kenshi replied bowing, more at ease now. "The portals themselves are gone, along with any chance of learning about them. But there is something I was investigating before the portals that may be the real problem. Apparently there have been strange creatures sighted wandering the area where I first saw portals spitting out these humans. The two occurences may be connected, which in that case to investigate both occurrences we'll need to comb the Little Garden. But before that I should bring them to some human territory nearby is my home city Yuushima."

Azalea returned Leoch's nod, relieved that she had obviously said the right thing. She glanced over at Bliss when a flower sprouted up right under her foot, and saw she appeared to be getting nervous and out of control again. She guessed that the more afraid the other girl was of her power showing through, the more likely it was to happen. One hand went up to tuck one of her braids behind her ear again, and she attempted to catch Bliss's eyes, offering her the most reassuring smile she could muster. The elves were clearly less likely to do any harm to them, now that they knew what was going on. And they were even being offered a chance to help figure out what was up with the portals, which might lead them home. Not that Azalea was sure she even wanted to go home, but she was certain Bliss would.
