Futuristic The Sun's Rest

Eli sighed and nodded, "Nineteen... so you've been in this darkness since you were nine... alone for years..." He rubbed the back of his neck, shaking his head quietly, "That must have been hard..." He rubbed his chin, and then motioned back to the other two, "I guess you already know, but I've been forming a bit of a group, there's a man, Edward, who carries himself like an old world Cop, and there's a young woman, who seems to have had it rough as well, she's near your age, as near as I can tell. I'm not going to be all preachy about power in numbers... because lets face it, you've done fine on your own for all but provisions until now, but it seems like you already like watching my back, so here's my proposal to you Lass. Why don't ye walk with me, help be me ears and eyes on this journey, keep me aware of my surroundings, and I'll keep you fed, supplied, and give you a safe place to sleep when we rest. It'll be a bit less watching over your back for people tryin' ta kill ya, and more just keeping an eye on mine, makin' sure this old dog doesn't fall down a hole..." He stood up, to let his companions know where he was and that he was safe, "Think it over Lass, take your time, My group and I will be moving out in a bit. If ya decide to keep to your ways..." He looked at his knife, and his canteen, he shrugged, "Feel free to bring those by some time while the other two are asleep at some point, If ya mean ta be forgin a new path..." He mulled the thoughts over in his head, "At least let me know, so I don't worry about hearin' something grab ya in the dark." he paused, "If ye like my proposal..." He shrugged, "Then I can introduce you to the other two as Me Little Tag-A-Long." He grinned, he would wait until after she made some sort of sign on the three options he'd given her.

Raven rolled her eyes but held up three fingers. Option #3. She hoped he would understand.

She hopped back in the tree and grabbed a small backpack, which she slung over her shoulder. Then she swung down the tree and landed, her thumbs hooked in the straps of the backpack. She looked at him expectantly.

Eli retreived his kukiri, he waited for her to return, a smile on his face, "Welcome to the group then Lass, though we'll have to find a way to communicate at some point, if ye cant speak, I'll have to find ya a pen and paper at some point." He had reattached the bandolier to his chest, and then he started making his way back to Ashley and Edward, He waved at them both, whispering to his new companion, "Just stay with me, I'll introduce you to them... He paused, and spun on her, "Wait a moment lass, I've been so rude, I apologize, I've not even introduced myself!" He extended his large hand towards her, "I'm Eli, Elias Cullerman, Survivor, and apparently finder of other survivors. Whats your name?"

Ashley stood up and leaned against the car as Pops came back with another person. Was she in that tree? Kinda weird... I guess if I could climb a tree and hide, that wouldn't be such a bad idea. "Hey, Pops! Going off to the bathroom, huh? That must've been the most action-packed bathroom break I've ever seen." She chuckled at how agile he was earlier. "Are you sure you don't want to be the bait, Morpheus" she couldn't help herself and laughed some more.

Edward was confused with all the commotion. He looked to Ashley, to Eli, to the newcomer. "So...we have another to help us? Or is she just passing through?" He extended his hand in greeting of the new arrival. "Hello. Edward's the name. Nice to meet you."

Raven smiled at Eli, but when he mentioned his name, she knew what was coming. She looked down and her shoulders slumped. She shrugged, and pointed to the others who were approaching. She glanced up at him with a pleading expression and tapped her throat.

Eli paused, and pulled his bag off of his shoulder, rummaging through it, he pulled out all he could find, a notepad, and an old No.2 Graphite pencil, He shrugged, and turned to the others, offering the paper and pencil to her with his hand waving them slightly to her behind his back. He nodded to Ashley, "Aye, Aye, something I learned in the suck, though it's generally preformed with a couple of bombs going off above ye to add effect." He grinned and waited for Raven to take the note pad, "She's been with me a while, bit shy this one, so mind your manners eh?" He grinned at the other two, suppressing a chuckle.

Raven rolled her eyes again and shook Ed's hand with a little bit of hesitation.

She shakily wrote on the piece of paper I've been tailing Eli for the past week, and I decided to join you guys.

After a moment of staring off into space, she also wrote I don't know what my name is. People call me Raven, but that's not my real name.

Her eyes brightened. But look on the bright side! Now you got someone else to watch your backs.

Eli grinned at the girl and chuckled lightly, saying, "Raven's a fine name, unless you've another you've in mind for yer-self lass." Eli shrugged at the rest, "Aye, Actually I think thats one of the best things I've heard all..." He paused, "Well, Didn't hear... and it's not day... or night..." He grinned lightly, his humor was terrible but at least it made him happy. "Anyway Lass, Would ye like Raven? Or is there something else in mind ye got for yer-self?"

Ashley chimed in, "So we have Pops, the action hero, and Raven, the female Jason Bourne," she looked to Edward, "I think we should recast our votes in this whole bait thing now that there are two girls, and I'm leaning toward Raven Bourne. Her counterparts movies are move than enough credentials for her abilities if you ask me, and she's been stalking you for awhile so I bet she's all but learned how to stop bullets like Neo." She laughed a bit before looking to Edward for his support in her deductions.

Ed rolled his neck and smiled at Raven. "Yeah. If you are gonna tag along you may as well be called something you like." He looked at the other female in the group. Edward had had a very eventful few hours. He had found three people that are willing to share his company. He smirked at his luck. If the raid is successful than things might actually go good for a little while. "I agree Ashley. We should reconsider now that we have a strong force."

Eli raised a brow at Ashley and snorted, "Aye, Let's send a mute in to be loud and distracting, Perfect plan!" He chuckled and shook his head, "No, but having another along for the experience, should make the encounter a great deal less dangerous." He shrugged and retrieved his axe, it made a metallic screech as he ripped it from the asphalt, saying "Well... That was... a bit loud..." He'd not intended for such volume, and to him, the rest of the street suddenly felt very quiet.

Ashley scratched her head as she laughed, knowing that the idea would be shot down. "I had to give it a shot. right?" She grinned and then looked at Raven. "No hard feelings there, Raven, just trying to shuck responsibility for a second there." She winked at the girl. As the axe screeched from the asphalt, Ashley shrunk away from the sound, and once it died out she looked to Pops to complain, but seeing the look on his face she held off. She could read a situation and could tell he was feeling the area, and as a fighter she could do that to but only within close proximity, but as she felt him trying to survey the place she fell dead silent as well trying to listen for the slightest movement in the, now quieter than usual, darkness. Shit, shit, shit. Please be nothing out there right now, please let it be nothing. Her head was screaming but she kept her mind calm and sharp, controlling her breathing as she waited for Pops to give them their next order of commands.

Raven shrugged. I don't mind Raven.

She smiled at Eli's comment, but her stomach twisted. Can I trust them...? She wondered, then shrugged mentally. She'd tell them when she felt like it.

You know, I CAN be loud if I want to. Not like I can talk, but you'd be surprised how much sound metal boots can make. She patted her boots.

She gasped a little when the axe shrieked, and covered her mouth. Wildly, she pointed at the tree she had come from and ran over to it, and began to climb it.

Eli hissed out, "Dont flee!" He hefted his axe, glancing around, he'd unclipped his Kukiri, and was moving to towards the car, he popped its rear door open and slammed his axe into the hinges, holding it up, he tore the inner lining off and hefted the door like a sheild, grunting, "Run from them, and they'll chase you down and you'll just die tired, Stand and fight..." He hefted his axe, knowing the noise would bring enemies, "Humans or Dark ones... best to stand ground until you see which direction they're coming from."

Ashley unsheathed her knife as she moved into a defensive posture. "Damn it. I really wish I had a dog or something," She moved to Pops' back and kept watch for any movement as she scanned the area and listened for the tiniest sound, "This is not good at all..." she clutched her knife tightly as she waited for a noise.

"Damn! Eli! You had to be loud didn't you?" Ed pulled out his 9mm pistol that he saved for situations like this. "Be ready to fight. Remember, killing is a last resort. Only kill if you feel like your life is on the line." He surveyed the area and realized Raven was gone. "We lost the mute, guys."

Raven had disregarded Eli and had climbed the tree, her heart racing. She pulled out the gun, and stayed low in the tree, scowling when Ed called he a mute. I'm not mute! I just don't trust you!

She figured that she could make the best out of the element of surprise.

Eli closed his eyes and listened, he could hear his companions, and shuffling around, fear gripping them, he listened, listened to any noises in the distance, foot fall, moving fast, it was rapid, too fast for humans, he mutters, "West... Covering... Three blocks... at least..." His eyes snapped open and he looked around, taking the makeshift shield in his hand, he flung it away, south of them, making a horrible amount of noise, looking towards where Raven had gone, "They're blocks away, whatever it is, it's moving too fast to be human, If we move now, we can let them pass us, but they're gonna search the area for hours, So we need to move, North east now, then double back north east just as far." He hissed out the instructions, "Ed, Ash, Follow me close, we don't got a lot of time!" He refastened his kukiri and hefted his axe over his shoulder, looking to Raven one last time, "If ye come now, I can get us away from this before it becomes a calamity, I know where they're coming from now, and about how many, It's a few too many to fight, but not so many that I cant get us away, Do ye trust me girl?" He looked to Raven pleadingly, he knew he had seconds to convince her, then to run, he looked to Edward and Ashley, hissing out, "Start moving, down that street and then turn right at the next corner! I'll catch up in a minute!"

Ashley looked to Edward, "You heard the men, let's move it." She sheathed her knife and tugged Edward as she began to move. "Pops, you better not fall behind" She called over her shoulder as she and Edward headed off. She hoped that Raven would quickly accept his trust so Pops didn't have to stay out there any longer than necessary. She hadn't meant any people since the time with her brother and she would be shattered if she lost anyone in this group that just formed, and that included Raven, as long as she didn't get Pops hurt for staying behind. I hope both of them are okay and catch up soon. Fear hadn't quite gripped her fully yet but adrenaline was surely surging through her body and made her light on her feet as she followed Pops' instructions, but she made sure not to leave Edward in the dust behind him and kept the pace at a speed that he could easily match.

Raven hesitated, her eyebrows furrowing.

Hoping he would understand, she signed how are we going to beat it if it is a dark one?

She hopped down, but didn't move otherwise.

Eli paused, and brandished his axe, "The axe aint for show lass, but we need to move, If it's dark crawlers, they can track us unless we move Now!" He turned to where his other companions had gone, and started to fidget slightly, "Ah come on girl, We've only just formally met, Can ye please trust me, We got to move now!" Then he heard it, and his blood ran cold, an ahead scout, the one that had sounded the alarm he was sure, breathing heavily just off to the side, he didn't turn, but his free hand moved to his kukiri, the cord from his jump still tied to its pommel, He slid it out and said to her, "We got to move girl, before they catch up to us..." He slid the blade out slowly, and turned as though he was about to run, then, faster then any eye would be able to follow, the blade wasnt in his hand anymore, just the end of the cord and it was already taught. Eli followed the blades path, where it had struck the scout in the leg, crippling it, he dashed towards it, and slammed the butt of his axe into the being's face, muttering, "Damn shame..." It howled but once before he dropped it, stunned as it had been to feel the leg striking it, he made a face and sighed, retrieving his blade, he knelt down, and tore a bit of the creatures clothes, enough to make a crude binding, he wrapped the leg, and tied it off tightly, then levered himself up with his axe, looking to Raven one more time, he beckoned to her, before he made to move after his other companions, he said grimly, "Were out of time." His pace would be careful, on the opposite side of the street, he made his way to a building, and bashed the front door in, then, took several steps backwards from it, until he reached a car. He moved onto it's hood, and carefully ran over the top, jumping to the next's hood, he scaled four of them this way before he took to the streets again and after his companions, muttering, "Hope that's enough... Wont be like Miami..." He looked back once more towards where he'd left Raven, wondering if she'd made to follow, hoping she'd seen his ruse, and if she might do as he did to add to the deception.

Raven had, in fact, decided to follow. But of course that stupid scout was not actually knocked out...

She ran past the scout, following Eli without a word. Suddenly she tripped and landed with a fumbled roll. Looking back, the scout was standing up, and lunged at her. Her eyes widened as it pushed her back, and she fell backwards into a small puddle, the Darkie snarling at her. She tried to push it off, but it was far too heavy.

Letting go with one hand, she reached into her jacket and pulled out the switchblade. She stabbed it in the chest, wincing as it flailed around, slashing a deep cut in her arm. Raven pulled out the blade and punched it's head with the same arm that had gotten cut. She pushed the limp body off of her, and ran after Eli, cradling her arm and knuckles that now hurt quite a bit.

She noticed the slightly dented car roof and the bashed in door, and figured he had tried to throw them off their trail- well, his trail.

Raven quickly caught up with him, and stashed the dagger back in her jacket, favoring her right arm.

Eli looked to Raven and then to the scout, "Never gonna say ya cant handle yourself, that's for sure Lass." He grinned slightly, "Well check ya for injuries once were safe." He stowed his axe between his back and his backpack and started running towards his other two companions, He when he'd reach them, he'd kneel down, and pause for a moment, "One of ye, In me bag, quick as you can, top pouch, grab my map, lets see what it says about the area around us."

Ashley ran to his side, opened the top pouch, grabbed and the map, and opened it in front of Pops for him to observer. "Are you okay, there?" She was looking at Raven, concerned.
