Fantasy The Reckoning

Her pants had survived, thankfully. Looking to Aero, she sighed and asked holding a hand out "Could I have some help?" Glancing to her brother, Dysis continued "oh, and he's Merlin. Not nemo." A playful grin appearing upon her face.

(I apologize for the shot post, I'm running on about 4 hours of sleep at the moment)

" Sure. Watch out for my nails though". Aerowen held grabbed on to Dysis hand and pulled her up. After Dysis was standing, the mismatched eyed girl would glance at her nails and grimace. They were ridiculously long but curved and very hard so it was clear Aero could inflict quite a lot of damage with these. Brushing them against her stomach, they easily sheared through the camisole and nicked her skin and Aero made a mental note to cut them. " Merlin ? Holy fuck, I thought it was Scmurrlin-wait, does that mean you call him daddy ?".

Max had a pretty good hunch as to what he was. Still, he wasn't ready to accept it. Like once he admitted it, everything would become so real. Then he would have so many other things to think about. He listened to Ellie's rapid fire questions. Thinking closely about the physical changes. Yeah, there were definitely physical changes. "I think I have a pretty good idea as to what I am." He said, looking in Ellie's direction. Letting out a sigh, he propped his tired frame against the wall. After everything, it would be an understatement to say he was exhausted. More like overwhelmed with the prospect of passing out from overexertion. If that made any sense. The floor was looking mighty cosy right about now. The last time he had been this tired was the night his uncle had made him run errands for him all around their neighborhood. Since it wasn't the safest place, he had spent most of the night hiding in alleys, and running from packs of kids who thought it would be fun to beat up someone younger than them.

Aushi smiled when she finally was able touch the lamp. Nodding she looked at it, but spoke to Mason "Thank you. Pretty sure another person holding it isn't in my interest, at least after seeing that." She held on to it against her chest, cautious to not forget it again! Her hands were full with her gun and her lamp. Sighing she looked around at the mess. "I'm going to go down to the precinct, see what's up and get some gear." She announced, not really expecting anyone to listen or to stop her. She began walking to the front door, not much else to do from her part!

(Shorty sorry xD Tired but not sleepy rofl)

"Hold on, if you're gonna go to town let me go with you." Mason offered. "I'm not a cop but you heard what was going down there, some back up is better then going in blind and by yourself." He felt selfish wanting to go with her and leave the others in the manor, everyone was out of phase and in need of support but he felt he would be doing more good looking out for the best asset they have as she moved into unknown ground. "Normally I'd let the police do their job, but I'm not the same teen I was when I first walked in." In truth Mason also desperately wanted to know the status of all the their parents, if they could find them alive and unmutated they could bring them to the manor before anything worse could find them first.

Dust moved to end of the pool and dragged himself out next to Dysis. Grabbing a towel he wrapped it around his... erm... fin? Well it was dissipating in the similar, oddly and unpleasantly, painful manner that it did for Dysis. Except it was slightly quicker. He didn't get his pants off in time so he only hoped... nevermind he had his pants. Dust let out a small sigh of relief as he tried to stand up. His legs felt unusually weak. If this was something he'd have to deal with every time he went into the water, remind him not to go to beach anymore. Unfortunately for him, the rest of his clothes and most of his equipment was with cop girl. He made his way over to it and organized whatever was left, taking it with him as he staggered back to Dysis. Dust put a hand on her arm to help her stand up. "Are you ok?" He asked her, hoping that she wasn't hurt in any way. Dust looked at the others, not quite sure how he'd introduce himself in a non threatening manner that I seemed convincing. But he'll cross that bridge when he got there. For now, Dust was more worried about getting Dysis back inside.

Aushi turned towards Mason and shook her head. "Aye, it'll probably be best to head out with company, unfortunately we do not know the percentage of people who have turned. Sure, we could assume it's a large quantity based on the results in the home, but can't be sure. And I'm pretty sure a cat/angel character straight out of a bad children's movie will cause panic enough, don't need the good ol' horn and fork helping with that. You take care of your friends, I'll be back." She turned towards the siblings, she didn't want to come back, but with someone having made threats before, she wasn't about to just stay away permanently. She pointed towards the confiscated equipment. "Keep an eye on that. If he lied about it, he wants it, and if he wants it, I don't want him to have it." She smiled. "Ugh, call if there's any emergency. My phone's in my apartment, so won't be a while until I get it, but leave a message anyways if you need." She began to head out to the forest, the way she came, on foot to a probably wild town, letsgo!

Ellie waited for Max to reveal what he was but he never did. She turned away not wanting to bother him with any more questions, her friend looked really tired. "Well at least you seem in control of things, and I don't feel like I need to start running this time," she smiled weakly at Max. She had a slight headache probably from the stress of everything, she pulled her pony tail out hoping that would give her some relief. Her long red hair fell around her face making her feel more comfortable, it was how she usually wore it anyway. She felt a little silly in her skirt halfway wishing she had just wore her jeans but Aero had complimented her earlier so she must look alright.

Looking back to Max she asked him, "How are you feeling anyway? You look really tired." Though she was a quiet person most of the time, sitting silently with her thoughts right now wasn't doing her any good. L silently went over what everyone had turned into in her head, it was still pounding but she needed to think. "I think I'm going to go jump in the shower really quick, I'm not feeling the best and everything seems to be okay right now," she said standing up and slipping into the hall bathroom.

She turned the water on hot, got undressed and jumped in. The water felt soothing to her head and the steam made it easier to think. She looked at her arms, scarred on the inside from her wrists to her elbow. They weren't terrible just thin white lines that to anyone would look like she might have done it to herself. She knew the truth though, what happened once people found out how valuable pure human blood was. Just above the inside of her elbow on her right arm she had a small AB+ tattoo, her blood type, so it was easily identifiable. She hated it. Sighing she closed her eyes letting the hot water wash over her, staying in a little longer than she intended to.

When she finally felt better enough to get out Ellie realized that there were no towels in the room. "Are you kidding me?!" she said annoyed. Weighing her options she got out of the shower, opened the door a crack and called out to any of her friends, "Can someone bring me a towel please?" she had been loud enough that someone should have heard her so she left the door unlocked and climbed back in the shower, glad that the glass was frosted up to her neck so no one would be able to see anything below her shoulders. This was really awkward.

"Heh, at least I don't act like one." He responded to her horn and fork joke with wavering confidence, the fact that he was clearly a demon to begin with was jarring. Why would he be such a creature? The changes seemed rather sporadic so he supposed there wasn't any reason for him to become such an uncuddly monster. The fact that his good intentions at this point would be completely betrayed by his appearance was upsetting. Garcia didn't know him prior to this whole massive change and she seemed willing enough to believe he had the best intentions. That at the least was comforting but on the other hand, what would his parents think seeing their son turned hellspawn.

"I'll keep on eye on it, and don't worry I'll call you in case anything needs a good pistol whip." Disappointed Mason allowed Garcia to be on her way. He could see the logic behind her desire to go alone but he wouldn't want to lose the only person with training in their mitts and he wanted to collect peace of mind for the others. The most he supposed he could do now was to cater to the others and keep the tension thin. He had his work cut out for him.

Placidly walking up to Dust he took the clothing sack in hand. Separate him from anything that goes bang seemed like the best idea. He may have been Dysis' brother but he did approach them with the intent to shoot before talking. "Nothing personal bro, I just don't feel comfortable with firearms being in anyone's reach." Mason put out his hand intent on helping him to his feet, Dust appeared shaky on his first few steps after regaining his legs. "I can get you and Dysis back inside, and dry eventually."

Whether Dust accepted his help or not Mason had to answer Ellie's call for a towel. A strange request but at this point he was the only one in the house who was probably in good enough condition to move. "I'm taking this with me, I'll be back." Mason said carrying off the makeshift sack of Dust's equipment upstairs as he brought yet another towel from the closet to bring to Ellie. He hadn't grasped why exactly she needed it until he'd already swung the bathroom door open and saw her within the fogged up shower. "Oh, that's why."

The sensation that was originally initiated by Mason's touch had now grown in range, all through the room the feeling serene pleasure wafted. He placed the towel on the hook walking out before the open door had time to unfog the shower glass. Leaving the door cracked Mason still hoped to speak with her. The aura that radiated from him still managed to reach Ellie even as leaned on the outside of the bathroom door frame. "L...what am I?"

Kira yawned and sat up from her slumber, groaning as she realized it was the same day. "Fuck me," she grumbled lowly, not usually resorting to such awful choices of words. Slipping outside, King and Starr ran past her, Kira being too tired to stop them at the moment. "Stay close," she shouted and moved down the hall. She spotted Mason but so did the dogs. They barked and yipped and licked his hands for attention. They loved Mason, for some odd reason. Almost as much as they loved her. "Peeping Tom much?" Kira teased, crossing her arms and leaning on a hip.

Getting close to Mason now...an odd feeling washed over her nerves. The constant nagging that more than two people were here in the house or that there was danger all around seemed to fade away and she felt more calm and welcoming towards him. Blushing, Kira thought it was just her warming up to the most familiar person in the room. Gosh, I've never really- Kira cut herself off, shaking her head and laughing.

"Sorry, got lost in thought. Is that Ellie? Why are you peeping on Ellie? Do I have to scratch your wings?" she took a step towards him, growling playfully. The threat was still there, having a feeling of protection over the powerless girl. She was new to the group, and being the unannounced leader, she took her under her wing personally. Actually, during the party, Kira was going to ask her if little Ellie wanted to join her at Dance Class but now it seems it was cancelled.

Mason's pensive expression melted as he felt moisture on his fingers coming from a velvety tongue. Tongues that matter as he felt another on his other hand. Starr and King danced around him with the energy only they could have at a time like this. The optimism was a welcome change of pace from the past few hours though, he finally had something other than his new form to think about. He knelt by them to look at them at eye level. He felt the difference in having to crouch a little lower to meet them as he always did. "Awww, you guys still recognize me even with the whole new suit." He smiled passing his hands on their heads playfully growling lowly at them.

"I don't peep, I sample." He said through a laugh as he caught a face full of Starr's tongue. "L's taking a shower, I don't blame her I'd be sweating up a storm too." He remembered Kira made a game out of batting his newly formed wings around while in her Lion form. "Do it and I'll bite your tail." He said playfully lunging his head forward while biting at her direction.

Kira didn't move and King growled at the gesture, Starr being smart enough to realize it was only play. "You forget my teeth are longer and sharper than yours, as well. If you need a shower, my dad has one. I mean, it's not like you're a stranger to my home. My dad likes you," she grinned, flashing her slightly sharper teeth. "King, hush," she spoke softly and the dog sat, tongue lolling out as if nothing happened. "You know he's the idiot," she laughed.

Starr whimpered and sniffed his wings, licking it cautiously. Now that they were separated more, one could tell their differences. Starr was shorter, fluffier and a darker grey. King was taller, less furry and lighter with a more moronic gaze than Starr's. Starr was the brains while King was the muscle. "I've always wondered why they like you," she teased.

As she leaned on Aero for the support her legs wouldn't give, Dysis replied "He could be a father figure, but more like my brother." her tone holding heavy notes of fatigue. As Dust asked her if she was okay, Dysis responded with a slow nod. "Yeah...I think so..." it was clear she was exhausted. But, the main problem here was him. "How are you going to get in the house without being hog tied to a chair and locked in a closet with a meat cleaver to your throat?" As soon as he stepped foot in that house, he would be jumped instantly. Wanting to see who was inside before he attempted to sign a peace treaty, Dysis half stumbled half dragged herself to the door. Using the frame for support, she grasped the wall and made her way inside. Leaning heavily on the wall, she looked out to see Kira and Mason apparently having a moment. And if she heard correctly, were they talking about a shower? Really? In the middle of the apocalypse? Dysis spoke up and asked in her fatigued, hoarse tone. "Er...Am I interrupting something here?" I'd be a miracle if Kira didn't leap and tear her throat out.

@Zafirah @Guardia @Serpico

"Hey, what's not to like?" He pursed his lips nodding his head back with a slight grin. He brought his hand onto King's head "No prob big guy." He should have taken into account how much of a stout defender King was. He wasn't bright but that kind of loyalty was the model attitude for man's best friend. "I know but even though all this happened I don't really feel tired, or sticky and sweaty at all." Mason didn't really know what to make of his condition. "Remember that demonology club Richie held in junior year, I'm regretting not joining but I never thought knowing any of that crap would be useful." He hoped the internet was still functional so he could google his anatomy, that would be a strange entry into that computers browser history.

Mason's wings twitched as the silky tongue brushed by it. The sudden movement was followed by a small laugh "That tickles, cut it out." His finger placed Starr's ear rubbing softly. "You know, I kinda want to give these things a test drive."

Hearing the lethargic thumps of heavy legs against the stairs Mason stood up to see Dysis had made her clumsy way up the staircase. "You alright, damn I shouldn't of left you down there I'm so sorry." Mason stood up giving both Starr and King one last petting before moving to Dysis' side. Slinging one of her arms over his shoulder he hand to bend his knees a bit to help her up the remaining stairs. "I gotcha, lets got you some dry clothes." Mason's aura was still in full effect as it would begin melt away the fatigue in Dysis' legs. All semblance of nausea and upset organs would be replaced by what felt like a cool ocean breeze rushing through her expunging all the evidence of her harsh transformation.

"Save that for another day, Mason. Right now we have to figure out what we are and what we can do. I have no idea what half of my friends turned into and I don't want to risk you falling out of the sky because you got a cramp in your wing," she smiled but spoke firmly.

Kira snapped her head in Dysis's direction. She resisted the urge to raise her lips and growl at her. How demonic was that? King picked up on the mood transfer and growled lowly at Dysis, even though he'd known her almost as long as Mason. Starr sensed the girl was hurt and trotted over, whimpering and snuffing her hand. Kira noticed this behavior and frowned. "Yeah. What do you want?" she raised her chin.

A rush of fear went straight through Ellie's body when she heard Mason's voice. Of all people why did it have to be him now that he'd changed into... And just like that the fear was gone. She felt much calmer than she had only seconds ago, more than calm actually, she felt good. "Damn it Mason," she whispered sort of dreamily. Ellie wrapped the towel around herself, not bothering with her clothes to hide her scars or tattoo and stepped out into the hall where her friends were.

"Hey," she smiled at them. She had known exactly what was happening at first but she couldn't stop it, her mind felt fuzzy at the corners. Her body felt warm and good like she had just enough to drink to take away any fear she carried with her. "Whatcha doing out here, beside the open door when I'm almost naked?" her voice was curious and not at all nervous like it had been earlier.

As Starr made it over to Dysis, she slowly stroked her pelt, it was sad really that a dog cared more than a friend. Dysis replied "I... " then silence. So this was happening again, bloody lovey. She opened her mouth and only made subtle, dry noises. Like this was going to help. Closing her eyes, the Nauseated feeling arose once more. Keeping her mind off of it, she continued to stroke Starr, the motion soothing to both her and the dog.

@Guardia

Kira stopped, concern in her eyes. "Dysis, what's wrong?" she asked, voice softer now. Kira never hated Dysis, she just felt...betrayed in a way. Why would you choose your brother who left you years ago after your parents died over your friend who'd always been there for you?

"Are you changing again?" she spoke louder, a bit alarmed. If she was changing, she needed to get to water. Fast.

Dust sat down and waited for Dysis to let him know whether it was ok to come in or not. He sat there with a towel over his exposed torso, and in wet jeans. He crawled over to his remaining equipment and took stock of what he had. Dust lost most of his stuff for now. All he had was his shoes, and some cable equipment for computer hacking but... that was it. His gun, USB drive, ammunition, lighter, and other scraped microequipment that he used to make makeshift phones, communitcators, walkie-talkies, etc. Dust organized his cables neatly and set them aside his shoes. He shuddered for a second. He wasn't exactly in his best shape right now. He was cold, sore, and exhausted. Yet he was the only one outside right now. Dust didn't mind. He could see Dysis through one of the windows so he kept an eye on her while he waited. Dust was patient. He could wait. Hopefully they'd come out soon though...

Dysis couldn't answer fully, so she settled for a painful grunt. As Mason held her, her legs began to meld once more. It appeared to be a slower, painful process than before. She appeared to be unconscious due to the energy it took. It was also apparent that she couldn't be out of a body of water for long.

Kira snarled in irritation and scooped her up in her arms, the girl being surprisingly light. Or maybe she was just super strong. It didn't matter. Either way, Kira was down the stairs, toting her like she was a puppy. Her first thought was to throw her in the water but sighed at her immature thoughts and kneeled down, setting her in the water. "Dysis, if it keeps on like this, you're going to be stuck in my pool. For, like, a long time. Trust me, constant water is not good for your hair," she ran her own through her thick hair. "What are we going to do?" she whispered, turning away from the pool.

The forest was quiet, serene, full of life and beauty, and to the tired, battered woman currently lying in a pile of leaves, the forest was exactly where she needed to be. She wished to reflect only, bask in the sounds, smells, and sights of the natural world, while sorting out what her life had become in such a short and chaotic time. Her breathing was still shallow, her skin looking pale and sickly. She slowly lifted a hand, pushing a strand of frizzy hair back from her face. She knew how lucky she had been; invited to a party by a casual friend, she was almost out of town when the transformation had come over her. If it hadn’t been for the isolation of the Pierce mansion, her new life could have been over even before it started. She could still feel it, no matter where she was, the pull in the very marrow of her bones of an injured creature not too far away. She even had a mental image of it: a fox who had to chew through his foot to escape a trap. The stump was mangled, and infection was setting in. Animals were easier to heal than humans, so it wouldn’t take much. She could at least take the infection out, and though that fox would only have three legs…

“Get ahold of yourself Melissa,” she told herself. “You need food, you need rest, you need others like you.” But, were there really others like herself?

She thought of the few things she had seen on her dash out of town: a man who’s gums had sprouted sharp fangs, a beautiful girl’s face, exploding in to something hideous and demonic, the man and the girl, both unable to control themselves, rushing at each other in a mad rage…

Melissa had stayed, watched the fight, knowing instinctually that she could not intervene, but that she would heal, if either were left alive. The man had overpowered the girl, and the drinking of her blood…Melissa knew she would never forget the first sight of a changed person in this new world. She turned to run, started to take a step, willed herself to move, but the gashes in his sides from the demon girl’s claws, the blood dripping from a large wound in his right arm, the myriad of other small injuries kept her rooted to the spot. She wouldn’t, she couldn’t…she had seen what he was capable of, but she couldn’t stop herself. He was lying there, trying to heal himself, but still powerful, and here she was, the proverbial sacrifice.

Needless to say, she learned something quickly, and luckily too. Whatever new creature she was, her blood was potent and powerful to those who wanted it. She would have died then and there, if her blood had not sent him in to a blissful, non-functioning euphoria. So, she had left him there, completely healed and incredibly sated, with her energy almost depleted.

And then she thought of the transformation itself. It had begun as most illnesses had: headaches, nausea, and blurry vision. Usually full of energy, she had felt fatigued for a few days. Though her flu-like symptoms had gotten worse as the day progressed, she had no desire to miss the party taking place at the mansion. Lonely and broken-hearted, Melissa wanted any excuse to get to know more people. Leaving her mother, the one woman who had always taken care of her for the distance of her father seemed like a terrible idea, but Melissa wanted any excuse to get away, even for only a few weeks from the mess she had left behind. She knew she would only get to know these people at the party on a pretty basic level because of her short stay, but the joy of making friends had outweighed her concern.

Taking the keys to one of her father’s luxury cars, letting him know that she would be back, sometime, even if he didn’t seem to care much, Melissa had begun the drive out of town, heading toward the forest. The pain had hit her out of nowhere, excruciating, explosive. She had pulled over just in time behind a Wall Mart on the outskirts of town, and without anyone there, she had undergone her own transformation. Through the pain, she had slipped in and out of consciousness and dreams, of people mostly, the ones she loved. Though it had been painful and terrible in some ways, everything pure and good had seemed to be dredged up from the depths of her soul and laid out for her to re-experience. The amount of love she felt for some of the people she had cared about was almost overwhelming.

As the pain had cleared, and she finally came to, a sense of deep peace pervaded her being, something she had never felt before. She had wanted, in that moment, to let every single person experience the exact peace she was feeling. She had felt completely healed and rejuvenated, and so, immediately she had begun to mentally search, knowing what kind of world she lived in, understanding on a primal level that healing would have to take place.

Melissa slowly got to her feet, swaying slightly, her eyes seeking the mansion up ahead. It was completely visible due to her new, enhanced vision. She had no clue what she would find at the mansion. Maybe they would be the same as that man and girl, fighting one another without control. But, something was telling her that because of their bond of friendship, they might be more predisposed to control. A friend would have no desire to hurt a friend, whereas a stranger would not feel nearly as much for hurting another stranger. She kept walking, preoccupied with her thoughts, butterflies fluttering in her stomach. Would she be recognized? What if they had no desire to hurt their closest friends, but they had no qualms about injuring a mere acquaintance? Though she was nervous and afraid, Melissa couldn’t help but admire the silence of her own footsteps and the ease at which she moved. It was almost as if she weren’t even tethered to this world.

The doors to the mansion were shut, and Melissa listened for the sound of activity. She knew if something terrible was going on, the sound of it would be audible. Slowly, Melissa raised a trembling hand and rang the bell. Immediately she wanted to jump back, blend in with the forest once more, but she stood her ground and waited to see if anyone would answer the door.

Aero jogged to the door and opened in without a care, knowing that whoever was there could either be a friend or kill her. She didn't know which one she was more afraid of. Her pink eyes would blink slowly at the girl in front of her before she cocked a thick brow , " Mimi ? Ah, Melissa ! I'd ask how are you but the better question is what are you ?".

[ Sorry for the small post, I'm a bit busy]

Melissa, upon noticing the door opening forcefully stepped back slightly, throwing up a hand nervously. She stared at the woman in front of her, the darker skin, pink eyes, and modelesque fasique. She knew she had seen her, and she was one of the three in the group of best girl friends. With the affectionate nickname Aero gave, Melissa knew immediately which one of the three she was, even with the slightly unrecognizable features. It had been their first meeting, and Aero had immediately dubbed her Mimi, affectively extending a hand of friendship. With that one word, Melissa knew that things here, though not great, could be wonderful in a very different way.

“What am I?” Melissa paused for a moment, still surprised by the new lilting, sing-songy quality to her voice. “that’s well, that’s hard to know… Aerie, you seem hurt, exhausted…”

Melissa put a hand on Aero’s shoulder where one of her joints seemed stiff and somewhat unresponsive. “I’m sorry, I just, well, I’m a healer. That’s about as far as I know…” She swallowed hard. “What are you? Are things, all right here? This might seem weird but,”

Melissa, overcome with emotion, reached out and pulled Aero in to a brief hug, trembling slightly before letting her go. “Things are not ok out there, and I was so nervous…” She trails off, looking at Aero for a moment. “Could I come in?”

She tightly embraced her friend, cringing gently when Mimi's body rubbed against the scratches on her stomach that were made by her own claws. Aerowen laughed gently but it would be obvious to her friend how terrified she was. In a odd way of sweeping the fear away with humor, she would link her hand with Mimi's a lead her in, " Of course you can come in. Kira was a mountain lion, I was a panther, Dysis is a fish and Mason is hell spawn. Feel free to join the circus" . Aero was immensely relived the house didn't look like some slasher flick anymore but the deep, jagged claw marks from her "episode" still covered the walls." Are you hurt ? Do you need anything ?...and once you feel comfortable, would you care to tell me a bit about what it's like outside ?".
