Fantasy The Pack

Aaymi had barley made it to the place the white wolf had told her about. Eventually her blood had faded and wasn't visible in the snow any longer. Her wound had finally seemed to clot but she wasn't in any position to be roaming around outside.

It had already gotten dark out a long time ago, making everything colder around her. Her body shivered making her curl up tightly with herself. The wounds given to her earlier had clotted but when she curled up it had broken one of the clots, making the blood flow out onto the floor of the building.

She hadn't noticed as she drifted off to sleep. Her dreams were simple and sweet. A life without the government but soon turned to nightmares as the government came into villages, town destroying almost everything. This made her toss and turn in her sleep. Whimpers came through her mouth.

-----

Victor had followed the group silently to the cave the leader had found. He knew he had already spoken out of turn before with the wolf from the government. He positioned himself up against the wall away from the others as he shifted and curled up with himself.

It was cold everywhere it seemed like now but at least the fur on his wolf would keep him warm during the night if it got colder. The pain from his hand started to bother him again but he ignored it. Now was not the time to ask for help or be healed. It could be taken care of later or just heal on his own.

Laikas turned his head back to face Nate, he was not going to cheer the rants of a fanatic. He was getting to aggressive, losing too much control. By all means, Laikas sympathized with him; he too had lost a sibling to the government, but Nate was letting it get to his head a little too much. He stood, turning around and taking a few tentative steps closer to the cave entrance, watching as Nate seemed to almost bully Sasha instead of explaining what had happened. Letting out a growl of unease, Laikas shook his head; was this really the person they were meant to follow?

He had begun to wonder as to whether Aaymi had made it to the building? Maybe he would see her again soon. Until then she should be able to live on the food stored there. He would speak to Victor about coming with him to help this girl, if she had made it, and hopefully patch her up a little bit. He shook away the thought, bringing himself back to reality. Nate looked as if he was going to attack Sasha, something Laikas couldn't allow. He held no feelings for either of them, but Nate could easily kill any of them if he wanted, these were not the signs of a leader. Maybe if he showed the pack that Nate was no longer capable of leading them at the moment, they could try to restrain him until he was more stable. Maybe, he thought, We'll see how the rest of this works out first.

Another one. Landon had scented the nearing hyena long enough to not be surprised by her appearance. That did not mean that he gave her more than an angry look when she passed him in direction of the cave. Nate had made it quite clear that he was fine with all the ones scattered scouts and hunters to rejoin the pack, not fearing the possible dangers of that. But that did not mean he had to happily welcome everyone who found his way back to the group. It was his role to keep the others safe from outer endangerments – and for that, he did not need to be best friends with everyone. In fact, sometimes it felt as if he was better off keeping distance, just to make sure nothing influenced his decisions. The day had shown how good that approach worked out.

Sasha disappeared into the cave and therefore out of his sight, others surely welcomed her warmer than the guard. Landon turned back to watching the forest for any sign of unwanted visitors, his look quite often finding his way to the other one outdaring the winters cold, one of the scouts. As it seemed, he had actually found something of interest, some kind of bag that looked kind of suspicious – not like something you would accidently find in the forest. On the other hand, it was also possible that he just saw a danger in every single detail. It took a few moments until he finally decided to take a look at it himself, just to be safe – risking to make himself probably the forth enemy today. However, just when he stood up, Laikas did so as well, making a few steps in direction of the cave entrance. For Landon, that was enough of a sign that probably something was going on inside, since the scout had previously mostly stared thoughtfully into the wilderness himself.

Shaking the snow from his fur, Landon followed Laikas example, stopping at the entrance, right where the snow ended and the shelter began. Some kind of tension had built up, noticeable even for him. He was right in time to hear Nates final words:

"We rule over them, and show them what it was like for us. What they did to us! We make them ours."

Surprising words by him, to say the least. Foolish words. Landon had always proposed that they’d never turn the tides by only running away. But even he had recognized today that the government was far away from being an easy prey. And with half of the assembled pack potentially not trustworthy and the other one too weakened and wounded to take a stance, they were farer off of being a threat than ever before.

“And you called me a fool when I proposed to take down the president when we were at full strength, Nathaniel? I always thought of you as the more reasonable one of us. I’m not too sure about that right now.”

Straining his muscles, he awaited the reaction of his leader. He was not quite sure what to expect, more than ever after Nate had attacked him earlier on. However, he had felt the urge to speak up, just to make sure someone did. He was a guard after all. And while it mainly was his task to prevent any outer dangers, Nate sounded as if he planned to lead the pack right into its death.

Even in his human form, and though he was scared to death of the Alpha even though he was older, Royce got up out of his spot in the corner and sauntered over to the arguing packmates. "Nate, Alpha or not, I do not appreciate your tone toward women." His fingers twitched nervously as he raised both hands to Nate to push him away from Sasha. "If we lose our heads, we won't survive." Serena watched this from the corner, nervous for her brother. Back down. Back down. She tried to warn him. "Sasha, getting mad at Nate probably isn't the best thing right now. We're all cold, tired and angry. Let's all just breathe and separate for a little while." She even went further in her speech. "We lost today because we were working separately rather than together. We need to try again with a better strategy."

Nate eases his dark gaze onto Landon, ignoring the male who attempting to shove the massive wolf. He didn't even budge, it was like shoving an oak tree. @Yuuki Kuran

He stared at Landon, and growled under his breath. A breath of condensation slipped between his gritted fangs. "I never called you a fool, Landon. Yet all of you must not understand." He slid his gaze over the other wolves, his dark eyed, and dangerous. "Humans are cruel creatures, who trained to make us. To ruin our lives from what it used to be. I am not saying attack tonight." The last of his sentence formed into a growl, as his gaze came back to Landon. "When we are ready."

Without another word, Nate stalks back to the back of the cave. Where he nearly blended in with the darkness.

May looked up at Landon, her cheeks pink and her eyes round with shock. Yet she understood what Nate was feeling. An eye for an eye...

May slowly stands up, breaking the heat she had began to make with Garrett. She slowly slips out if the den, and past Landon quickly. She needed some air. @Silanon

He's so different from us. I have never seen his type of dog. Only our type. Wolves and foxes.

Garrett leaned back against the cold stone of the cave. The huntress was now close enough to him that he could smell traces of Allie on her scent – the one thing he had been trying to avoid. After considering her words, however, the guard slowly … and haltingly spoke up in a brusque voice:

They are not uncommon. The ones with the dog genetics. There were many in my … old pack.

This was a first. Garrett rarely spoke of his old allegiances in front of the pack. Mostly because they held nothing but bitter memories … and old regrets. But as he was feeling particularly low at the moment, he was not averse to speaking about some of it.

In the old days, I was a tracker – essentially a government-trained reconnaissance agent. We were one of the smallest groups the government held and numbered only 13 in all. Then as some began to die off over the years on missions, the government introduced a new initiative regarding our pack. Instead of using us … wolves … they wanted more dog trackers. They considered them more loyal and just as skilled in that area. Less likely to bite the hand that fed them.

He mulled darkly over the turn of events for a moment and then stirred as a shape limped forward from the darkness below. His lip curled in a warning snarl, but the guard eventually silenced himself as the shape became more familiar. When the hyena finally entered, looking for all the world as though they were on a picnic, the guard silently raised his eyebrows.

Evening, Sasha.

He intended to say more, but froze when she uttered her next set of words.

Why is everyone so gloomy it feels like I stepped into a funeral home, shouldn't you all be happy you're still alive from whatever happened back there?...mightas well ask you all what I missed, oh and for someone to get the bear trap off me!”

Sasha …

But the words wouldn’t come. He couldn’t mention Allie right now. As soon as the familiar name touched his tongue, it tied forcefully and left his eyes looking towards the ground.

And it only got worse from there.

Sasha’s lighthearted ignorance of the situation drew Nate from the shadowy corner of the cave where Allie’s … body … lay. Garrett watched him warily and looked back and forth as the two exchanged words. He was vaguely aware the huntress beside him had moved to take care of Sasha’s bear trap, but his eyes remained solely on the form of the Alpha.

I never understood why the government wants us dead so bad after all how much could we really affect them...and the nerve they have to kill the young have they no care for others?

Again, Garrett winced as Allie’s name went unsaid.

They want us dead, because we betrayed them, Sasha. They see us as a threat to their empire, the empire that is so delicately held up on needles. The empire that will soon beours.

Wait … What?

Garrett’s eyes narrowed. He wondered if their Alpha had truly gone insane due to Allie’s loss. Indeed, there was a part of Garrett that thirsted for revenge just as much as Nate did … but this? This was lunacy. He knew that fighting the American government was like fighting a hydra. They could kill as many presidents and officials as there came, but someone would always be promoted up the chain of command to take charge. Not to mention the fact that their group numbered but a paltry few to begin with.

Now why would you want to rule over their kingdom that was built upon their own and others dead bodies why not start our own surely we can be better than them since hmm I don't know THEY HAVE THOUSANDS AND WE HAVE WHAT...10 OR LESS?!

Privately, Garrett thought Sasha was absolutely right. This was what their campaign ought to be about:
ending the experimentation and violation of their rights and finding a place where they could be themselves without judgement, threats of murder, and servile cringing to a force that held them as little more than slaves to their will.

But Nate would not back down.

Our powers, against theirs, make them weak. That's why they are after us. They fear us!

We rule over them, and show them what it was like for us. What they did to us! We make them ours.

Garrett slowly pushed up from the wall to take a standing position. He had had just about enough of this. Others in the pack were cheering, but there were others than remained just as stonily silent as himself. Among them, he noticed, was the white wolf laying across from him. His eyes turned to look at him as he noticed for the first time that the other was carrying that scent of blood from the woods … though he had no wounds.

I will inquire about it later …

But it seems his hesitation cost him his moment to speak. Landon was now entering the cave to call Nate out.

And you called me a fool when I proposed to take down the president when we were at full strength, Nathaniel? I always thought of you as the more reasonable one of us. I’m not too sure about that right now.

Garrett slowly sat back down. The flood gates had been opened. Two other members further down the cave, Royce and Serena, were now also speaking out against the Alpha. He half expected the white wolf to join them, but he remained utterly silent.

I never called you a fool, Landon. Yet all of you must not understand. Humans are cruel creatures, who trained to make us. To ruin our lives from what it used to be. I am not saying attack tonight. When we are ready.”

Garrett sighed.

Answering injustice with injustice does not make more justice, Nate. And it won’t bring Allie back to us.

But the terse moment was gone. Nate was slowly stalking out of the cave and with him went the huntress who had formerly been at his side. The cave around them was now awash with conversation, but he wasn’t interested in any of it … except with the silent wolf. He considered him a moment with those dark eyes, then spoke quietly to him on the other side.

You’ve been awful quiet, Laikas. Yet you look as though you’ve had a busy afternoon. I’d be interested in hearing your thoughts on the matter … if you feel like sharing.

@Cyber Wolf @Silanon @IzzyCakes @Crono

Laikas was all too tempted to speak up against the supposed alpha, but two others had done that for him. He understood loss all too well but perhaps Allie's death had gone to Nate's head a bit too much a bit too soon, he had never seen Nate so aggressive towards the pack before. Granted, Sasha had arrived at the wrong time - in Laikas' eyes she was a stickler for bad timing - but her questions were valid, further suggesting Nate was not in a position to lead at that point in time.

Landon had spoken up against Nate and now with three people criticizing the alpha, Laikas took a couple of steps away, glancing around at the other experiments. They were dysfunctional and most of them were weak from the fighting. Contemplating leaving, the white-wolf turned and padded to the entrance of the cave and lid down, his ear flicking slightly. He let out a frustrated growl and turned to face the wilderness. How simple it would be to just leave and have no troubles at all.

Hearing his name called, Laikas glanced over his left shoulder at the black wolf that had called to him. He rolled his eyes slightly, it was Garrett. In Laikas' eyes he had always been headstrong and reckless, one that never paused before acting. He was a fighter, both in rank and in personality, and this only served to lower him in status for Laikas.

He stared at him for a moment, his intense yellow eyes studying him for any sign of aggression before Laikas turned his head away; he didn't respect Garrett enough to really want to talk to him at all and he wanted to keep Aaymi a secret, not just for her sake but also for his. In a way Laikas had helped someone that had attacked Nate, if another member found out Laikas knew it would essentially be certain death for him. The only one he really trusted in that situation was Victor, and even then Laikas was cautious about inviting him to come and help the red-furred wolf that had attacked Nate.

Laikas lowered his head onto his paws dismissively, closing his eyes lightly. He was prepared for Garrett to react aggressively, as Laikas had expected his response to be like as he was a fighter. He sighed; he needed to talk to Nate about scouting and scavenging again and soon, but it was likely that with all the suspicion running around the pack Nate would refuse him. Laikas opened his eyes again and glanced around for Aaymi's bag, standing and padding over to it. It had been about two metres outside of the cave's mouth and Laikas dragged it back carefully, lying down next to it and resting both of his paws and his head on it, he would look inside of it tomorrow.

"I am not saying attack tonight. When we are ready.”

That didn’t even solve half of the problem. This was not about having just one or two days of rest. Or about solving one or two internal disputes before moving on. No, this was about half of the pack consisting of members either not able or willing to fight as well as it was needed to stand their ground against governmental troops. Landon was more than eager to fight in the first row, and to sink his teeth into the enemies flesh. But not at the cost of the rest of the pack dying in a stupid attempt to take vengeance.

“Just think of those not capable to take on whomever they want. Not everyone here is as good of a fighter as you are. And it’s their blood that measures whether you aren’t even crueller than the ones you’re trying to take down.”

Not expecting a reaction, Landon turned around, ready to reclaim his place outside. Garretts attempt to speak to Laikas reminded him on his initial reason to stand up, though. He stopped in his movement, waiting for the white wolf to respond to the fighter’s question. When nothing productive seemed to come out of it, he slowly moved forward, making sure to keep away from Garrett. While he had made a mental note to give him the fight he had asked for at some point, this was not the moment for it.

“I wonder what is in that pack you’re carrying with you, Laikas. You know, Sasha brought food, and even our friend here brought supplies and was fine sharing them with others. That makes me wonder what fills an entire bag, but is not shareable with the pack. Yo know, it's not like you'd find something like that by accident under a rock, I'd assume.”

Landon stopped only a few inches away from the scout, his eyes telling that he was not going to be satisfied with the same silence he had treated Garrett with.

@Cyber Wolf @Whisker @Baconhands

May growls softly, "why don't you back off, Landon." She snaps. Her eyes stern and rouged. "You don't have to go around, pushing others just because you're paranoid." She looks at Laikas and then back at Landon. "If it was harmful to the pack, and if Laikas knew that, and wanted to hurt us, he'd have already done it." She averts her gaze. Nate had made everyone irritated and snappy, it was unusal or Maya to have such an outburst to a wolf who was her superior. Yet they didn't hold their tongues, so why would she? She walks away from the group. She didn't care where she was going, or if Landon wanted to snap back to her. She shifted into her wolf form, and began to run. She sprints deep into the forest, her smaller paws carrying her with incredible agility. Snow clings to her fur and she huffs heavily. It doesn't take her long before she stops.

She begins to walk, her eyes toward the ground as she wanders aimlessly. Maybe everyone was right.. that they couldn't stand against the goverment.. that they'd be chased forever until death.

A sigh ravages her body. Allie drifts into her head, and sorrow paws at her heart. Oh Allie.. we miss you.. Nate is lost without you.. She sits down under a tree, watching as the wind blows snowflakes left and right. She wants to howl. To mourn for her fallen friends, yet she can't. Not with goverment patrolling around.

She curls up under the tree, ignoring the frost that is beginning to freeze her fur.

When his words were met with silence, Garrett sighed and looked away. It wasn't unusual for Laikas to block others out and he didn't really care enough to push the matter further. Not when there were so many other things crowding his mind at the moment. Rubbing the back of his neck, the guard settled back against the stones to brood upon the problems of the pack. Looking around him, he could see everyone in high tension as there was a blatant sense of distrust rippling like an undercurrent among them. There was no unity. No original purpose that had united them to escape in the first place. It seemed like Allie's death had divided everyone and that the pack was in serious danger of falling apart.

I’ll give it one more day.

Garrett felt a distinct sense of sadness that it had come to this point.

One more chance. If I cannot turn Nate’s head to a more rational course … If I cannot unite the others behind him … then it means there is nothing left for me here … and that I must find my own path.

Just as the grim-faced fighter reached his conclusion, the words of another reached him and jerked him out of his thoughts.

I wonder what is in that pack you’re carrying with you, Laikas. You know, Sasha brought food, and even our friend here brought supplies and was fine sharing them with others. That makes me wonder what fills an entire bag, but is not shareable with the pack. You know, it's not like you'd find something like that by accident under a rock, I'd assume.

Garrett’s eyes narrowed. Unable to murder him successfully and satisfy his paranoia, Landon seemed eager to push his irritation onto another and further stir up the pot. The black and white wolf growled softly, but was cut off by the huntress from earlier snapping in Laikas’s defense.

Why don't you back off, Landon. You don't have to go around, pushing others just because you're paranoid. If it was harmful to the pack, and if Laikas knew that, and wanted to hurt us, he'd have already done it.

I would listen to the girl, Landon. Leave Laikas alone. There has been enough discontent and trouble here tonight. If you must question him, do so in the morning when Nate is in better spirits.

The guard had risen warily. Even though they were in the presence of others now, Garrett did not put it above Landon to try and murder him now that he had an opportunity. This time, however, if it did come to that, Garrett would not be caught unawares.

@Cyber Wolf @Silanon @Baconhands

With everything going on in the cave it started to bother Victor. Everyone was snapping at one another and they all really should have been resting. It was a bad day for everyone it seemed like and all this bickering back and forth wasn't helping anything. Victor got up and strolled by Landon, Laikas, and Garrett without giving them a glance. He head off in a random direction into the woods. He needed to get away from all this tension it wasn't really good for any of them.

His four paws moved gracefully through the snow, keeps his ears perked up in case of danger. Not that he would fight anyone or anything but he could at least try to get away by running if he heard anything suspicious.

-----------

Aaymi woke up startled, gasping for air. Pain shot up from her broken ribs. At first her surroundings weren't familiar to her so it scared her until she remembered everything that had happened not even a day ago. The wounds she had still weren't healing on their own. Slowly she pushed herself up the wall into a standing position so she could explore this place more in hopes of finding some cloth of some sort to bandage her wound. After a few moments of painful walking around she came across a single sheet.

She ripped the sheet into the right size strips she needed and wrapped one around her ribs, neck area and her left leg. It was a good thing that the leader hadn't bit down on her neck to pierce the carotid artery. Otherwise she wouldn't have survivors as long as she did. It had been awhile since she had eaten but she had forgotten until her stomach started to rumble. But instead of going to find food she sat back down where she was and soon passed out once again.

"You don't have to go around, pushing others just because you're paranoid. If it was harmful to the pack, and if Laikas knew that, and wanted to hurt us, he'd have already done it."

Words about Nic came into Landons mind. Words how a single one of them could cause the death of the whole pack, and how few good fighters were actually well enough to protect them if something happened within the next few hours and days. Something as simple as a tracking device was enough to end what had begun at the cabin. However, the red-brownish wolf swallowed those words. Maybe Maya was right after all. He probably had made himself enough enemies today, and only time would tell if any of them were justified - he certainly hoped not.

Before he could find a suitable sentence to conciliate, Garrett couldn't stop himself from adding his own sight on things:

“I would listen to the girl, Landon. Leave Laikas alone. There has been enough discontent and trouble here tonight. If you must question him, do so in the morning when Nate is in better spirits.”

Exactly the kind of advice he needed. With an angry look, he turned around.

"Fight your own fights, Garrett, as always. Leave the protection of the pack to those caring enough to risk their lives for it."

With his opposite seemingly ready to fight and himself unsure what kind of reaction to expect, Landon took guard, prepared to answer any possible attack in the same way. He was not spoiling for a fight, but he was not someone to back off, either.

"Fight your own fights, Garrett, as always. Leave the protection of the pack to those caring enough to risk their lives for it."

The black and white wolf looked at Landon coldly.

"
Do not pretend concern for the pack is your true motive behind this, Landon. Nearly all of those present were absent during the time of the attack as I was ... and yet you did not attempt to murder them in cold blood as soon as you saw them. It is your injured pride behind this belligerence and nothing more."

The wolf did not attack but stood ready in case the other lashed out. Taking advantage of the pause, he spoke up again.

"And at least for all of my failings, I do not deny I was remiss in not being there for the pack today when it needed me. But at least for that I am able to distinguish friend from foe. You seem to not to be able to do so at the moment with your antagonizing those you wish to protect."

With that Garrett sat back down, his hackles lying flat. His eyes were still on the other, but he was conscious of the many eyes watching them. Fighting in front of the pack would do little to still the current tensions in the air.

@Silanon

Laikas allowed himself a slight chuckle when Landon seemed to try and intimidate him and opened his left eye slightly, glaring at him. He was mere inches from the white wolf, and Laikas would have grinned at him had he been in his human form. As he was about to respond, May spoke up in his defense and soon Garrett was also reprimanding Landon. Proud as he was, Landon responded to the aggressors and soon his attention was off Laikas. May had run past him and out into the wilderness and Victor soon followed her. The white wolf sighed and closed his eyes again; he didn't want to get involved with them, but if a fight broke out and Nate didn't break it up Laikas supposed he had to get involved at some point.

The two wolves, Landon and Garrett, started arguing and Laikas let out a quiet growl of annoyance, tempted to tell them that if they were going to fight then they should do it in their human forms to avoid fatalities. Victor wasn't here, meaning the pack's only qualified healer was away. Fighting would result in serious injury that nobody present knew how to deal with, and while Laikas wasn't attached to anyone in the pack, he didn't want any of them to die. He sighed, his eyes closed but his ears listening for any sign of trouble. Hopefully Nate would calm them before Laikas had to get involved.

@Cyber Wolf

Sasha sat down and looked around feeling the tension in the air,"Ahem!" she said to regain attention "Now when I was hunting I think I saw a mechanical wolf or some sort of metal dog...same color eyes as the fighters that attack us,Now for all we know those might only be scouts do you think the government would stop experimenting and do you think we can take down things that have no emotions no remorse,no fear, and no mercy....and did you say something about humans" Sasha bursted out laughing "Now hold on here we were all someone before thissss we were all human have you lost your memory of how this all came to be...if I recall correctly how you've been acting have you gone feral?" Sasha started to giggle and gnawed on her own paw

@anyone in the cave @Cyber Wolf

"It is your injured pride behind this belligerence and nothing more."

The words educed a loud, warning growl from Landon. He was a guard after all, one that always had been where he had needed to be, until this morning. He had fought in every fight since their escape, never to be seen somewhere else than in the first line. He had been a vital part of the pack from the beginning on, and had been one of the few standing firm at the cabin. He was not someone you easily called being misguided by his pride. And yet, because of all these accomplishments, the words seemed more fitting than he himself wanted them to be. In fact, his pride let him not even consider the possibility to leave his chosen path right here and now. Instead, he glanced at Garrett with burning eyes, though still barely holding himself back.

"And at least for all of my failings, I do not deny I was remiss in not being there for the pack today when it needed me. But at least for that I am able to distinguish friend from foe. You seem to not to be able to do so at the moment with your antagonizing those you wish to protect."

A dangerous smile appeared on Landons flews.

"In that case, I'd wonder why you never were kind enough to warn us about Nic. Might have kept Allie as alive as your personal presence at the cabin. But you weren't willing to do either of those."

He slowly closed in to Garrett, though staying out of the guards immediate range.

"But if you are that sure that you see things clearer than I do, who am I to complain about that? It's an honor to have you here after all, after days of absence where you didn't care at all about any of those assembled here. Just make sure to never expect me to guard your back, Garrett. It would be the first time I'd disregard my duties."

With that warning as his last words, he turned away, approaching the nightly forest. He felt the deep urge inside himself to kill something, in a long, painful process. And only Nates decision held Landon back to make Garrett exactly that something he was looking for. For now - at one point, that was for sure, there would only be enough space for one of them in the pack. And Landon was not going to leave.

Maya was slowly approaching sleep, snow beginning to cover her dark fur. Then she feels abother body roll her over. She growls and snaps at the larger body, narrowing her gaze. She feels the weight of another wolf weighing her down, and she is looking up at Victor.

Her fur ruffles in embarrassment and she quickly slips out from under the male. "W-Watch where you are going, Victor." Her voice wavers, and her eyes fall to her paws in embarrassment.

Garrett's face contorted with wrath. His hackles rose and his lips peeled away from the uppers as Allie's name was said. It seemed obvious to him at this point that a fight between the two was inevitable; Landon's pride would not back down and Garrett's wrath for what he perceived to be an injustice was high. As the other stepped towards him, Garrett snarled but held his ground. It was just low enough that he could hear the words that Landon spoke.

"

"
Good. It might mean that I get out of this alive. After all, it was that same guardianship that allowed black coats to get inside of the cabin on your watch."

He watched the other leave before coldly taking his place in the entrance. All thoughts of trying to reason with Nate were gone and was replaced only with a deep bitterness.

One day that one will reap the reward he deserves ... and I hope I am there to see it when he does.

In the meantime, he had a job to do. Without a word to anyone else, he curled up in the entrance and let his eyes rove across the forest, his expression morose. He heard Sasha remark upon something in the background and though his head turned to check out the noise, he said nothing in response other than a grunt.

Victor hadn't realized where he had been going lost in his own thoughts he has accidentally ran into Maya. "Oh umm, I am sorry." He quickly made sure to step a little away from him as to make sure he had given her space. "I wasn't watching. Lost in my own thoughts," he bowed his head to her before continuing on his way through the woods.

He hasn't thought he had been going the same way as anyone but obviously if he had been paying attention he would had saw her prints in the snow. It was embarrassing for him to have been so careless when he thought he was being careful.

Nate glances toward Sasha. "I killed him." He rests his head on his paws. "He attempted to kill me, and was disloyal to the pack. So I killed him." The leader sighs, the white condensation slipping from his mouth. His eyes felt heavy, yet his throat stung like acid was seeping into his blood. He felt energized, despite his bodies protest. He felt like he had when the scientists were ejecting substances into him. He felt angry, and uncontrollable. He turns his muzzle away from the pack, keeping his ears perked, as he forces himself to shut his eyes in an attempt to sleep.

Oh god.. oh god please help me!

She feels her paws leave the ground, as fangs shred the back of her neck. She is flung into the air, sent sprawling into a tree.

She goes limp.

"We will escape.. tonight.. "

"Are you crazy? They'll kill us!"

"I have patrolled his building enough times to know the way out, Alex. We can do this!"

Gunshots ring in her ears, yet not currently, in her memories.

"I can't lose you!"

"Run, Alex. Run! Stay strong, find others. You can do this.. for me."

Alexis opens her eyes, agony surging through her body. The snow around her slender body was crimson, her own blood. She slowly drags herself, before crying out in pain softly.

Her attacker was gone, possibly thought she was dead. Why wasn't she? The back of her neck is bleeding profusely, making her shirt cling to her back, sticky with her hot blood.

Her soft skin smeared with blood, and slightly bruised. She had no energy, nor will to live.

Laying down slowly in the snow, feeling it embrace her as her world slowly, yet surely becomes hazy and darker.

Sasha shrugged and relaxed biting off both hares heads to eat for herself backing into a corner crunching the skulls away in a matter of seconds, she sighed regretting not bringing bigger prey for the pack these hares were barely morsels "Anyone willing to watch my back I think more hunting is needed but the attackers might still be lurking around..." Sasha stared outside the cave she could practically feel herself taking down a buck and muttered to herself "If Nate doesn't want Nicolas buried why not bring him to eat him or is it still forbidden" Sasha snarled and began biting a rock as if she thought she could eventually eat it

"Is there something you'd like to say Garrett now seems to be a good time to get anything needed to be said off our chests, after all you never know just how long you'll live and you loved someone but oh wait you never said anything and bam you're dead and you regret it with your last breath mmm speaking of dead where is Nicolas i'd think he'd also take longer to die...then again guns and flesh don't mix oh and there I go rambling again."

Garrett stared at her. The words stung more than anyone could ever know. It seemed a little late to notice, but Sasha was not quite as ditzy as he had originally been led to believe. In fact, she was a lot more perceptive than many others in the pack thus far in Garrett's opinion.

"No, Sasha. I don't think I will."

His eyes flickered instinctively towards the shadowy corner of the cave. He could just make out the soft shimmer of fine blonde hair in the gloom. Swallowing tersely, he pointedly turned his gaze away and looked towards the front and down at the trees below. Several members of the pack had gone off into the night and he kept watch for them ... as well as leaving his ears open for any strange sound.

"
If Nate doesn't want Nicolas buried why not bring him to eat him or is it still forbidden."

Ew ...

Sasha got up looking around once seeing no one tell her not to go she bounded out laughing until she smelled something it was carrion and it was decently large too,Sasha followed the scent only to be greeted by a dead groundhog with maggots in it and she wasn't desperate enough to eat maggots.Sasha slunk along until she caught sight of some horns they spiraled "Mountain goat?" Sasha could hear clacking it was a fight between males which was perfect for her the younger one looked tired which was fine by her.Without warning she jumped on the poor goats back scaring the others away slightly her weight would break its back but she wanted to have some fun with it,she ripped its horns off and bit into all 4 legs fracturing them before she got bored and snapped its neck "Not as big as a buck still bigger than hare",Sasha began dragging the ram along with ease

"Good. It might mean that I get out of this alive. After all, it was that same guardianship that allowed black coats to get inside of the cabin on your watch."

Another taunt by the guard. And almost one too much. It took Landon all his self-control to not turn around and end this conflict once and for all. He was convinced that he could have overpowered Garrett quite handily, but he knew he could not expect any approval when he went for it. It was one thing to attack a returning coward who followed their track - but something completely different to kill someone accepted by Nate right in front of the pack. It seemed better to let him kill himself if he ever decided to actually join a fight. A part of Landon almost wished that the government attacked the pack while he was away, just so he could see the blood-covered body of the guard lying there when he returned. But he'd probably flee anyway.

Not caring too much about his environment, he forced his pace. Snow got thrown aside by his mighty paws, his regular breath drifted away in white, cold clouds. The sharp wind bit into his fur, cutting deep into the wounds he had taken - at least into those on the surface. Deep inside of him, much more concerning wounds had been caused by today's happenings. And it seemed as if there was noone left in the pack to stop the bleeding. Allie had always had a sixth sense for all those little discords in the pack, preventing them right from their beginning. And now she was gone.

Gone because one of them had betrayed the pack, and others had not been there to fight when it mattered. But first and foremost, gone because he had not been there when she had needed him. Landon was quite sure that he could have prevented her death, if only he had not gone scouting with Nate. It had been foolish to leave the cabin that unprotected, even for a short moment. But it didn't matter anymore. Things had happened, and after that everything had broken apart. And noone was there to put the shards back together. Some breaches were too deep to fix them, and there were at least two pieces that probably wouldn't go together at all.
