Fantasy The Misfits

As whiplash moved eeper into the facility, he faced more and more resistance.  They were all relatively untrained and not too difficult to take care of, but that worried him.  If they were this easy to take down, then what else does this facility hold that could make up for their lack of power?  He was also surprised by the size of the facility.  The building had a fair sized exterior, but it was also built deep into the mountain.  There was a lot of empty space on this level, leading him to believe there was big projects on the higher and/or lower levels.  He had already found a computer and used it to locate the control center.  He was heading there now, but the guards became more skilled and automated defenses arose as well.  He just hoped the others were doing better than he was.

"Well i guess we're starting." Danny said turning his invisibility on. Whistling he just walked past the two guards and knocked them out and walked into the room dodging the soldiers running toward them he just went leisurely planting some c4 here and there he was just running around and occasionally took out guards and gunners. He heard a crash upstairs and guards with guns running up to check it out. "Come on guys be more careful." He said going to walk up and take out the guards when his invisibility module malfunctioned. "Gad damn piece of junk." He shouted as three soldiers walked by. "Uh hey remember me right, your boss hired me to take out some heroes and thought i was so good that he made me head of security so hurry and get whoever is causing all that noise." "If they made a new head of security it would have been announced over our intercoms GET HIM GUYS" said the first gunner. "Oh well i tried to save you." Danny said running toward them only to teleport behind them and do a swinging kick pushing all of them towards the wall. As they tried to say something over their radio Danny slashed his swords together cutting their heads off. "Shit. I wasn't supposed to kill them. Oh well," He said hiding the bodies."out of sight out of mind." He thought that these guys were so shitty that he didn't even need to check on the crash so he just continued into the base, turning his invisibility back on.

Cory was on high alert scrunched under L Jackson's desk, eyes wide and staring into the almost silent darkness, save the soft footfalls of the others in the room. They were combing the desks, making their way across the room. They'd find her, then what? She only had her fire and that would set off the sprinklers, causing quite a fuss. If not, then the fire would keep burning, turning the mountain-building into a smokey trap for herself and her comrades. Stupid, stupid, you could've gone out a window but they're too close now. She glanced to the laptop in her arms and the post-it shut in the lid. L Jackson's password. It might not even be worth it, this person might not have been let on anything. For all she knew, they could've been in charge of funding for office supplies but she couldn't check now.

"Clear," came a hushed voice from maybe a few meters behind her. Deep, male, probably twice her size and triple her strength, at least. And he'd have a gun. She didn't. F*ck it, this'd better work and this laptop better be worth it. She held the computer to one side and sprang out from under the desk, exploding into the hallway in a flurry of noise and papers, grabbing the attention of the others in the room, a total of six, not the previous three she'd thought. Before they could pinpoint her new location, Cory swung around, sending a spinning ball of fire at the closest one. A man of maybe 6'5 shouted out and fell over, firing wildly in front of him. By a stroke of luck, she didn't catch any of them and was able to duck into a second cubicle, however she had felt a force against her. Looking down, the laptop had a twisted hole of metal in it, sparking as the electronics inside had been severed. "Shit!" She winced and grabbed the sticky, tossing the laptop skittering into the hallway. As she'd thought, one of the goons turned to it, meanwhile she went the long way around through cubicles already checked, making her way to the laptop shelf to grab another.

Not careful enough- something hit her from behind, causing Cory to stumble forward and dive into a cubicle. Computer! Gimmie now, she thought as she unplugged whoever's this was and tucked it under her arm. Her leg burned, but not as if with a normal bullet. It burned freezing cold, a sensation she'd never known and didn't like. What the hell is this?  The only way she could think to counteract the feeling was to press her hand to it, channeling as much warmth she could muster without burning her pant while she waited for the second bout.

Whiplash moved as quickly as he could, avoiding guards whenever possible.  He finally reached a control center.  As expected, it was locked and heavily fortified.  By some stroke of luck there were no guards posted outside, but there was no doubt in his mind that there would be some inside.  He had collected several key cards along the way, but none of them were even recognized.  His only hope was to try and hack the door open.  He used his gauntlet to figure out some of the properties for each of the cards earlier and used that to try and narrow down an appropriet sequence to open the door.  Unfortunatly the door also required a thumb scan and he really didn't have time to sit down and try to hack it open.  Not when guards came running every minute!

After he took care of the last batch of guards, he realized that he was becoming tired and the guards more skilled.  He coulnd't keep this up much longer and needed in the room.  That's when it hit him.  Trying to open the door by convincing it that someone needed in wasn't going to work.  The door was surely on lockdown mode and wouldn't open regardless.  What he needed was to shut down the lockdown and then open it.  He quickly stuck a chip to the card reader and ran away.  Once in a location where he doubed anyone would notice him he began working.  After five minutes he finally managed to reach the basic codes for the door.  He worked on programing it to open to a key card he owned.  This should cause the door to ignore the lockdown and override the need for a thumb print.

Whiplash rushed back to the door and swiped the card.  The door seemed to think about it for a moment before opening.  The guards looked over in shock and opened fire.  He used his whips to grab their weapons and throw them away.  One by one he proceded to remove the people from the room.  Once inside he locked the door and removed all overrides for it.  He even went so far as to add extra percautions to hinder any other hackers from getting the door open.  If needed, however, he could quickly paste in some code that would allow him to open the door with the push of a button.

There were several consols in the room, clearly meant to be run by a small team of people as opposed to just one.  Regardless, he went to work.  The first thing he did was disable all the security systems that he could.  This would make all cameras go black, no automated defenses, alarms stopped blaring and all doors should be able to be foreced open.  That was the hope, anyway.  This facility probably ran on multiple security systems and some of the deeper areas of the complex were probably still active as well as possibly the aerial defenses.  The next thing he did was to disable emergency protocalls.  This shut down any automated communication with the outside world and the sprinkler system.

"Ok," Leo said into his ear pice that connected to the others.  "Security should be down just about everywhere and the sprinkler system is offline."

@Moolock@Danny Blake@ChrisClark13

"great now we can burn this fucker to the ground." Danny replied. Danny ran up and down knocking out guards and jumping and skipping as they get confused and then they hit the floor. Like music to his eyes. but he realized they were getting stronger so he just stuck to the shadows (and his invisibility) and only confronted someone if he needed to, which he didn't. Until he was at the locked door of the control room and he saw some guards at the door looking about ready to shoot it down which was weird why would they- oh Leo's in there. Danny snuck behind one and grabbed him making him shoot his gun at the other two and then he promptly threw the guy into the door knocking him out. "Hey these guys are out let me in Leo it's Danny."

Storm Maiden (not being able to hear Whiplash's message anyways because of the large amounts of electrical interference she was creating) ducked down from under the clouds in order to unleash another volley of lightning.

She was greeted by of a multitude of heat-seeking micro-missiles courtesy of the facility's defenses. In response the heroine lashed her arms out, sending wide cones of lightning at the incoming explosive projectiles. She managed to shock most of the micro-missiles out of the air, either by frying their internals or causing premature detonations. The ones she missed exploded mere feet away from her face, nearly breaking her shield and sending her back into the clouds.

Unexpectedly, the missiles had a threatening secondary effect of disrupting Storm Maiden's carefully constructed clouds. The KorTech mook in charge of the external defenses however was no slouch and they soon ordered a follow up barrage of missiles in order to disrupt the clouds. They figured that Storm Maiden was drawing power from those clouds and at the very least they would eliminate the the defense the cloud cover gave her.

Back in the sky, Storm Maiden was rocked by the second volley of missiles, her clouds being torn to shreds as she fled high into the sky.

This wasn't how it was supposed to go! This was supposed to have been easier than this!

Noticing the AA-turrets firing more rounds in her direction, Storm Maiden immediately started on evasive maneuvers and was forced to land in the trees.

The heroine, out of options for the time being, activated her radio, "Whiplash! Can you disable the exterior defenses? They're too much for me and they're not going to let me get my storm cloud setup again," she peeked up at the sky where there continued to be explosions, the guards seemingly having not found her position just yet "they're actively using their missiles to disperse all the clouds they can see in the sky... I may have to abandon this angle of attack and meet you inside."

Cory got the message and giving the laptop a squeeze, shouted a quiet, "Yes!" With the water out of the way, she harbored no worries and formed an arc of fireballs above her as she got to her feet. The thugs turned around in surprise and moved to shoot, only for them all to be taken down by great, spitting balls hot as small suns. Hugging the laptop close, she strolled out, humming quietly. There was no question if they were dead or not as the flames had exploded on impact, leaving a bloody, burning mess inside. Beginning to jog along, she smiled a little as her wings slid out on either side, listening to Storm's message. "I'll be right up," she replied, turning off her radio before bolting at a window, tucking her head in. The laptop slid into a bag over her shoulder just before the glass shattered, a deafening sound as she soared beyond it. Up we go! Again, an arc of fireballs formed behind her, larger and hotter than the last set, and as she flew she could feel the energy struggling to let loose. Give me a few seconds, she thought, holding back the flaming destructive force.

Now, the pilot could see the dissipating clouds Storm'd no doubt brought and could hear the turret gunfire. "Right behind you!" She shouted, not into the mic as she was within earshot of Storm. Revving the FI Module, she rocketed overhead, releasing the fire bolts down into the roof, effectively disabling the turrets and causing some major structural damage. The air around her quivered with heat, even as she slowed down and turned back to survey the damage. It scared her, a little, but the laptop was safe and Storm wasn't full of holes. She whirled around and began scanning the trees for Storm. "You okay?" She asked into the comms unit.

@ChrisClark13

Storm Maiden rushed to the edge of the treeline as soon as she heard Phoenix call out for her and was briefly awestruck at the amount of destruction the newbie hero had been able to cause. Neither herself or Galeforce would have been capable of doing just that much damage in such a short amount of time. "Yeah, I'm okay. Thanks for the save." Storm Maiden replied as she rose into the air to meet up with the other heroine.

It was then she spotted one of those damnable missile turrets slowly turn to face them. For a split second, she considered shouting out a warning, but remembering her own experiences it was unlikely that Phoenix would respond correctly as she was sorely lacking in combat experience. So instead she wordlessly rocketed into action, flying fast past Phoenix and sending out another wide arc of lighting at the turret just as it fired its payload.This time the turret promptly exploded as all of its missiles, both fired and unfired, went up in flames. She took a minute to clean up the rest of the turrets before speaking to Phoenix in an authoritative tone, "Always keep an eye on your surroundings, the remaining turrets were about to fire at you. Had I not stepped in you would've gotten a load of missiles to your back."

Speaking of keeping an eye on her surroundings, spotted a door opening. On reflex she fired a bolt of lightning, sending the guard that had been coming out into unconsciousness. "Speaking of, they're sending infantry at us now. Get ready and let me draw their fire." As she spoke she rose into the air and cranked up her barrier, both putting on a show of surrounding herself in crackling electricity and amping up her barrier as far as she push it without losing combat effectiveness.

@Moolock

Cory smiled a little as Storm rose seemingly unscathed, though it quickly faded she flew backwards, Storm rocketing past. Stabilizing a few meters away, she fought to understand what the heck just happened. Storm, the lightening, and an explosion from the roof leaving men on a roof and a burning turret. "T-Thanks," she replied, looking back to Storm. "Erm.. draw fire," she called after as she moved to follow Storm, "Meaning what exactly?"

Realizing Storm wouldn't be able to hear her shouting or the radio with all the interference, swooped down below the clouds, a barrier of flame in tow. Swinging around the building to descend upon their backs, she faced away from the building, that way the Module was between her and any oncoming bullets. Coming up behind the roof, Cory stopped short, releasing the barrier roaring and spitting fire to roll across the rooftop. Some had ducked behind various units and embankments on the roof, though a number of the KorTech men were frantically trying to put out the fire. Others simply stayed where they'd dropped, having fallen victim to the spurts of explosions that peppered the arrival of the flaming wave. Almost immediately, Cory turned her gaze upward to Storm, slowly flying backward from the rooftop. What... What was that... That couldn't have just been me... With wide eyes, she retreated a few more meters, unsure of what to do now. Did Storm see? What would she think if she came down from the clouds to see the enemies mostly burned? How would she...

That wasn't what I intended to do... but it didn't feel wrong or bad... It just felt... powerful. She dug her nails into her palms, squeezing her eyes shut. Let them think what they will and judge or punish accordingly. Cory didn't leave, she just hovered there, out of range of the men remaining on the roof.

((OOC: Storm Maiden had gone from being in the clouds to being in the trees a few posts back. >.< ))

Storm Maiden flew up above the compound to avoid Phoenix's flames. Holy shit this girl was powerful. The whole 'power lottery' is a thing and all, but still, damn.

After the attack had died out Storm Maiden flew down to her teammate, fully intending to give the newbie hero a compliment for being able to unleash such a powerful attack. "Wow, welcome to A-Rank Phoenix!..?" But then she saw the girl slam her eyes shut and her hands... what the hell was going on with her?

"Phoenix! Phoenix!" the veteran heroine shouted, "What's wrong? There's still enemies standing! Focus!"

Storm Maiden herself didn't understand what Phoenix was feeling right now, personally she just got mad at herself and her foes when she ended up severely harming or killing them. Mad at herself for not pulling her punches and not sticking to her training, mad at them for pushing her so far. Really she had never honestly felt ashamed of her powers or particularly guilty when went wrong. In her mind, the enemy had gotten what they had bargained for and her attacks were precise enough that she rarely caused more damage than she had meant to.

Grunting she sent sent a lightning bolt backhandedly at a guard who had been preparing a Surface-To-Air missile. Even if they were far away from the base, this wasn't a safe spot to just stand there!

"Get it together!" she continued, "Are you getting some kind of feedback from your powers?"

@Moolock

Whiplashed checked the security camera outside of the door to confirm what he heared.  He quickly programmed in the correct sequence and pressed the button to open the door.  Once Danny was inside he closed it again.  "From what I can tell, there is another part even deeper into the mountain without any access to the surface.  I can't get any info on it except for where it... begins."  He paused, catching some of what Storm Maiden had said.  He quickly went to work.  He managed to connect to the system, but couldn't take control of the \exterior defenses from this point.  The best he could do was try to send a virus over to mess with their system.  He had several viruses coded and ready for use, but it was a bit risky once they were set loose.  He risked either being being tracked.  Either that or hope it did ok on it's own.  What he ended up doing was sending the virus through the channel he had just used and controled it remotly, altering it's code to adapt to the different system.  Once satisfied he severed the connection and let it wreak it's own havoc.

"Defenses should be going down soon," Whiplash said.  "We're going to head..."  He cut himself short when he saw the camera outside the door.  Some more guards had gathered, but not to bust the door down.  Instead they seemed to be baracading it.  By the time Whiplash processed what this might mean the power to the room was shut down.  The door wasn't going to open easily and then they'd have to deal with the barracade.  "Crap."

(ooc: ooops sorry! Read that wrong...)

Cory snapped back to reality, rubbing her hands together to get rid of the red marks in her palms. "Nothing's wrong," she muttered, summoning a small fireball to burn brightly beside her. "I'm fine." You don't have time for feeling bad about them. She glanced to Storm, nodding with steely resolve in her eyes. "Let's finish this so we can go join the others."

Without another word, she swooped off, making a few circles of the rooftop before folding the wings for a dive, the ball of flame behind her lengthening and enlarging until much like an ocean wave, as she pulled up from the dive and rocketed across the rooftop, it crashed down upon those gathered. Shots rang wildly into the air, as if bullets could harm fire. More bodies joined those already on the ground. Without looking back, Cory flew on until the heat of the flames died behind her, their only fuel left being the dead and dying. Slowing, she turned to look at the trees nearby, making sure none of them had caught fire in the attack. A few branches blackened but nothing caught.

No control, no restraint, and the only care she showed for what she'd just done was to stop and wipe smoke off the outside of her goggles. They were still enemies. She spoke into the radio, "Storm, the rest are all yours."

"Well idk much about this techy stuff but you do you br- oh shit." Danny said as the power to the room was cut "wtf are those assholes thinking this is still their base we're just destroying it... oh damn they have nothing to lose blocking us in. What are we gonna do dude?" Danny asked not sure if he should trust whiplash with his secret. "*sigh* I think we just have to wait for the girls to come." Danny said after clearing his head and assessing the situation. Wait this is perfect, Danny thought, now i get to actually talk to this guy and he can actually listen. "So I guess we're gonna be in here for a while so maybe we should talk about the elephant in the room. Why after all my tries you guys still don't even really acknowledge me as another human being, I know i messed up trying to kill you guys but all i did since then is try and help. Why don't you like me?"

"For starters you kill people for a livng," Whiplash replied with a sigh.  He knew there was no way out right now.  Maybe if he built up some more kinetic energy and used everything he had then he could blast the door open, but that would leave him too exhausted to even move.  Pluse, he wasn't sure what that kind of shock would do to his suit or even himself.  He'd never attempted someting so large before and it might end up riddling his arms with microfractures.  "Don't get me wrong, I do appreciate everything you've done for us, but it's a little hard for me to trust anyone.  It doesn't make it any easier when the person that's trying to get you to trust him is known for killing people in exchange for large ammounts of money.  Do you think they can shut off the air supply to this room?"

He changed the subject in an attempt to move to a less akward subject, if scuch a thing could exist between them.  It was getting better, at least.  The two of them had spent some real time together over the past several days doing work.  He was certainly useful when setting up cameras, that's for sure.  Leo wouldn't atmit it even to himself, but he had developed a certain fondness for Danny.  He wished he was more serious at times, but at others he lightened the mood and made work more barable.  In the end, he also had no one to blame but himself.  He let Danny into the base the first time without even considering consulting the others.  This was his fault and he had to live with it for better or worse.

@Danny Blake

(Leo isn't going to volunterally bring anything up that would allow them to bond, so I suggest you bringing something up.  I have no doubt he has the skills and resources to figure out Leo's full identity (more than just his first name).  Maybe start with that?  Just please don't mention anything about his parents.  I want Leo to bring it up as he finally breaks.)

Storm Maiden nodded and hovered in a lazy circle, knocking out any remaining mooks she spotted.

Huh, it seems that they had stopped bothering to send people outside. The only thing left out here now being people that were either unconscious, dead, or dying... she grimaced at that last part. It always reflected poorly on a hero (or even any other metahuman) who used lethal force.

Well, it was the fuckers who used lethal force in the first place. If they didn't want to be met with it in kind, they shouldn't have used it in the first place. Though now of course they're going to-

Her train of thought was abruptly cut off when various high-speed rocks deflected off of her barrier, much like grenade shrapnel or shotgun pellets and in fact it was the latter that the heroine had thought she had been shot by for the first few moments.

Reflexively she spun around and loosed a bolt of lightning at the mook who had apparently dared to attack her. Her yell of anger was cut off when she saw a man in wearing rock armor fashioned as if he was a medieval knight. The aforementioned bolt of lightning met a stone shield (fashioned in the shape of a kite shield) and was deflected harmlessly.

The two metahumans sized each other up in silence, each waiting for the other to make the first real move of their fight...

((Introducing the one and only Stone Knight! A burly Geomancer who wears incredibly tough rock armor and likes to attack by flinging rocks at high speed. Already shown is his shotgun blast attack, but he can also use a rock spike attack or just throw a large boulder as an attack. He can also burrow.))

"Dude i hope not, but don't try and change the subject, this is like the only time i'm actually serious. *sigh* Martin," Danny said revealing that he knows Leo, "I love working with you guys and i'm gonna be honest with you i kill people because in my clan when you're a kid that got abandoned no one is allowed to step in or help you and you still have to practice, it's a terrible thing they do to shed out the weak and if you get abandoned you're treated like an outcast and only hang out with others like you. Others that get bullied, others who you can see are slowly dying,*with tears welling up* others that you grow to love that die in your arms. After seeing all of my friends die I decided i wasn't going to be like them I went into cities and stole food and anything i could to get by. That only made my situation worse as everyone in my clan started to hate me because i was a thief and i was still at the top of my game. They drove me out a year ago and i managed to get this suit but i wanted to give the world a taste of it's own shitty medicine. So i chose this job but i realized that my life wasn't getting any better killing people so i made adjustments, gave myself some rules.

  1. No killing heroes
  2. No killing petty criminals.

I basically killed the most evil people in the world. *quietly* one even raped his own daughter the sicko. So i'm not as bad as you think and with that being said my life story all out my rant is done. I know i can get annoying and talk too much and i'm sorry but it's kind of a way i cope. I know i just met you a while back but i see you as an older brother and i trust you."  Wow dude talk about emotional distress this guy is seriously fucked and not even in a bad he's crazy way but like a he needs help kinda way. Anyway sorry almost forgot i'm the narrator. Danny sat back in his chair tears rolling down his cheeks. Boy was he happy that he had his helmet. "One more thing Leo I don't kill people that go to crime for their family or for a noble cause so keep that in mind."

(Huzzah! This is gonna get fun hehe @ChrisClark13)

Cory'd whirled around at the whistling sound made from the rocks soaring through the air and her eyes widened at seeing Storm's attack rendered null against this new warrior. Every glass cannon's nightmare: A hammer, and that's just what the stone-wielding night seemed to be. Making her way back to Storm, she racked through how they could go against this guy.

Apparently her movement had caught his attention and Cory gave a small yelp, rocketing upward to avoid a spray of rocks flung at her. One hit her foot, hard, causing her to wince. Shield, shield, how do I do that with fire?  Taking her place beside Storm, a little lower in the sky, she concentrated on the space in front of her, envisioning a large knight shield. The air in front of her began quivering with intense heat until with a deep woosh, a blazing crest unfolded in front of her. Theoretically, it would burn up any smaller "shotgun" rocks. In the spirit of mimicking the new enemy, in another woosh, a glowing lance grew beside her, much like the ones used in jousting, only a heavier gauge.

"Storm, any thoughts?" She muttered, glancing up to the heroine.

((The part in italics from Stone Knight's PoV just kind of wrote itself.))

Storm Maiden snapped her fingers and sent a bolt of lightning at a rock spear that came flying out of the ground at her. The concussive force of the lighting being strong enough to turn the projectile into rubble. She leveled a calm glare at her foe, it wasn't quite a death glare, but it was still a promise of pain.

Stone Knight clenched his jaw as he witnessed the results of his latest probing attack. That spear had purposefully not been put together well, meant to test the force of the so-called heroine's forcefield. Instead the bitch had blown it away with some kind of bullshit energy blast! Lightning doesn't work like that! And that glare! That glare! He just can't stand people that deny their true human nature like those two "heroes" looking down upon him. Could they not see the death and destruction they had caused? Heroes always being so blind to the pain they cause. Always being so arrogant! He was going to put those heroes, those self-deluded murders in tights and spandex in their place! He let out a breath, strained by his fury, as he carefully formed another rock spear, a better, stronger, harder, more deadlier spear under the ground, waiting for his time to strike. He looked up and returned Storm Maiden's glare with a death glare of his own from underneath his stone helmet.

After a few strained moments, Storm Maiden spoke to Phoenix (being far enough away from Stone Knight that he couldn't hear her), "Bake him in his armor. He'll either die or have to retreat. I'm still trying to figure out how to defeat him and I can tell he's doing the same to us." She narrowed her eyes as she focused... she was going to have to figure out an exploitable weakness soon or else she and Phoenix would be forced to retreat.

And there is no way in hell she's going to retreat when the answers were so damn close!

@Moolock

"Those rules are quite subjective," Whipilash said.  "Regardless, you might want to upgrade your moral code.  Especially when you took a job from one of the most evil people in the world.  I suppose that does sound more than a bit hypocritical, coming from me.  And as someone who has a couple of brothers, that's not always a good thing.  I also wouldn't call my parent's cause "noble."  They did what they did because they enjoyed it and were doing far more than just supporing their family.  If you still want to call that ok then by all means.  I'll admit that was all better than I expected, minus your clan and all of that mumbo jumbo  But seriously, we need out of here.  I doubt they're just going to wait for us to starve.  Unless we try to set up some sort of ambush, but I doubt that will work well."

"Your family is still alive right i think that's pretty noble. Anyway i think we're stuck here for a little while, good thing i brought two nintedo dsi's lets play some mario party while we wait for the girls to get us or something." Danny says handing a dsi to Leo grinning ear to ear. @Shog

Whiplash was confused to say the least.  "Did you really bring not only one, but two of those things on a mission?  Unvelievable."  He wanted to try and get to know Danny better, but he wasn't going to do that by playing a video game during a mission.  He began pasing the room trying to think of a way out, but stopped short when he heard movement outside the door.  Almost as if the baracade was being moved all at once.  He quickly moved to the side of the door, hoping that if it opened he would have a slight advantage if someone came in.  What caught him off guard was that the door wasn't opening, or not the way it should.  The metal began creaking and compressing to a point in the middle.  Then the doors burst open, flying inside the room.  A single man stood in the doorway.  He had simple brown hair and wore a leather jacket.  The only thing of note was a a thin scar across the right side of his face and two katana-like blades sheathed across his back.  Whiplash moved quickly and tried to use his whip to snatch one of his swords, but the whip was flung away at the last second.  The man just smirked at Whiplash and held his hand out.  Leo felt a force wash over him as he was knocked back and into the wall.  He crumpled to the floor in momentary shock.

(I truly had no clue how to react to your post, so I went with this.  Hopefully it will allow us to move forward as a whole.)

Oh shit Danny thought quickly putting his invisibility on hoping to study this guy or sneak up on him, hoping he didn't see him but the guy knew he was in the room he probably saw him on a camera or something and he sent some sort of surge through the room sending Danny flying to the wall and malfunctioning his invisibility module. "Gotcha" He said like he won a prize at a crane game in the mall. "Yeah you got this asshole." Danny said teleporting right in front of him, knowing if he tried to fake out and run toward him he would do his mind thing and throw Danny, and punched him in the face. The punch seemed to move the guy a little but Danny was hoping to knock him out so he teleported behind him and hit him in the back of the head. That just moved him a little and then hi did some mind push thing and threw Danny into a wall. "Ok that's enough of that," Danny said pulling out his swords "sorry dude but i gatta kill this fucker." Danny said to Leo as he got into a fighting stance.

Cory nodded and figured she'd have to get in closer range for any real damage. Concentrating on the space in front of her, Cory watched the air quiver with heat until with a deep woosh, she was in the center of a blazing inferno mimicking the appearance of a medieval suit of armor, much like the one the knight was wearing. It wasn't nearly as protective as she'd need it to be but she didn't want to be sticking around long. Her plan of attack was mostly based on a fly-by, though she was more in favor of forcing the stone knight to retreat rather than the idea of baking him alive.

The FI Module responded to her motions, bringing the pilot in at rapid speeds, a familiar arc of fire forming behind her, though not as bright as she ones she'd used previously on the goons on the roof. As she neared, the pilot faltered at hearing an echoing in the back of her head, one that had begun since she'd dispatched the men in order to get the laptop now sitting on her back. Behind her, the arc of fire grew in brightness and heat almost a tenfold as she neared, a blaze that Cory strained to reel back, forcing herself to slow her descent somewhat. What are you doing? The voice hissed. It had the same qualities in tone as her mother after an argument- a stern, "I know what's best for you" attitude. Release it, release your fury. They took Ruby from you, they took Wattson from you-

I don't know that for sure! Be quiet, let me focus! The armor around her flickered somewhat. Are you trying to hijack my attack?

You wished for a way to protect yourself. Let me have this one. You cannot win unless you use the fullest extent of what I've given you.

Cory fired her attack, veering suddenly to miss the Stone Knight completely as the arc had once again increased in size and intensity. Leveling out, she shot back, Like when I used my full extent on that floor? On the men who came up here? That was NOT what I asked for!

If you will not protect yourself, I will, it warned as it faded. Cory stopped, out of range of the Knight (at least she hoped), shaking her head rapidly. The warning, "be careful what you wish for" now had a new meaning for the newbie heroine. I'm still in combat. I can't let Storm shoulder this one alone.

The Stone Knight leaned to the side as the flame arc splashed on the ground next to him. He hastily sealed up the breathing holes in his armor the heatwave from the attack washed over him. He wasn't sure if what that attack would do to him if it hit him straight on...

...and he didn't want to find out. While he was immune, or at least resistant, to Storm Maiden's attacks he needed to put that fire girl down first on the off chance that her the heat of her flames would get through his armor.

The fire girl was a fair distance away now and his accuracy at that range wasn't the best. Though, with how the fire girl seemed to like to stay in one place all too much he was sure he could land a hit. As a bonus, the fire girl seemed to be distracted by something right about now. Radio chatter? power feedback? Honestly, he cared not what it was, all he cared about was that it gave him an opening.

At his mental command compressed spear of stone rocketed forth from the ground at Phoenix at extreme speed.

Storm Maiden couldn't believe that the newbie was so powerful and that her attack had somehow missed, what the hell was the girl doing?!

She opened her mouth to yell at the rookie to get herself together, but then something burst out of the ground. It was all Storm Maiden could do to cry out in warning as the spear emerged, "INCOMING!" The shout of her warning would reach Phoenix just before the spear did.

Cory heard something shoot from the ground, hearing Storm's shout almost immediately after. The spear was too close to stop and going too fast for her weak shields. Dodging was an awful choice but it was the first option that came to mind. Redirecting the engine of the FI, she rocketed downward, though not fast enough. Now head-down, the spear whistled above, creating a long laceration along the outside of her leg. Flipping the FI again, she righted herself, face screwed in pain and anger, irrational and alien, though with it she formed another fire arc. Staying still is not an option, get that out of your head, she told herself, folding the wings to descend.

Behind her, the semi-circle of fire crackled and spat against her control, though the pilot continued flying, cutting through the air until, not ten feet from the Stone Knight, she yanked herself up, releasing the arc to roll over him, going so fast that the arc created an undertow, spinning out in horizontal tornadoes. She was sore, tired, and cut up, but as the Phoenix ascended, she didn't hang in one spot, instead making a haphazard circle above, partly to be unpredictable, partly because the pain was shorting out her usual ease when in the air. Below, Cory caught glimpses of flames licking off the remaining flammable objects on the roof as more thick smoke coiled into the sky.
