Alex had the best nights sleep he’d had in a while. The cuddling was nice and after everything they’d dealt with made Alex and Kaleb both sleep well. No terrible things kept them awake. Nothing horrible made them wake up or have a rough nights sleep. Alex was the first one awake in the morning. He had gotten closer to Nate and Kaleb, his hand resting just on Kaleb’s side. Kaleb was still asleep though, enjoying the warmth and coziness of the big group cuddle.​

Nate never would have guessed that sleeping like this would have been the best way to sleep. He thought sleeping in the arms of Alex was all he ever needed, and really, it was. But now that he had so many all at once, he was kind of impressed that he was so comfortable. When he woke up, which was before Carlos could ever consider being awake, he was trapped but in the best way possible. He faced Alex, and by faced he actually was just flat out against him. He pressed his face into Alex’s upper chest and towards his neck. One arm was bent and smooshed between them, and the other was bent and hanging off of his side and falling onto Kaleb’s. His arm also had an attachment. Carlos’ hand rested on his. He could also feel Carlos’ leg? He moved his head to look down. Yep. That was a Carlos leg, because the big guy was definitely curling around not only Kaleb but also Nate now. Nate yawned wide as he blinked the sleep out of his eyes.

Alex felt Nate’s face in his upper chest and towards his neck. He could feel Kaleb’s arm on his side and Nate’s arm bent in between them. “Mm. Morning.” Alex said quietly as he looked down at Nate, hearing the yawn. Kaleb twisted in his sleep, and was currently chest to back with Nate, arm around his side as he turned more into Nate’s back, not wanting to wake up just yet. He was enjoying this warm cuddle and didn’t want it to end.​

Nate, still working to fully register that he was the little spoon in this cuddle with Kaleb, smiled at the sound of Alex’s voice. “Mornin’,” he breathed out. His voice crackled with the air that puffed through it. “Fancy meetin’ you here.” He would have taken his arm away from Carlos, but he didn’t want to wake anyone up or really ruin what they had going for them. So instead he lifted his face and rubbed it against Alex’s. He glanced behind him and then decided that was effort. “I believe this is the setup for one of those ‘what did I do last night when I was drunk’ mornings after,” he chuckled.

Alex heard Nate’s voice and chuckled softly, smile on his face. “Mmhmm. Fancy being here.” He said quietly. Alex lifted his head as he saw the other two and then looked at Nate. “I think you may be right. Unfortunately we did this sober.” Alex chuckled as he heard a groan from beside Nate. Kaleb shifted so his head was on Nate’s shoulder. “Good morning.” Kaleb said, his voice thick with sleep as he looked at Alex and Nate. He felt Carlos curled around him, and Nate’s arm on his and Alex’s hand on his side. This was nice.​

Nate laughed as he turned his head to better face Kaleb. It was a bit impossible though. “Does that make it better or worse if we’re sober when this happens?” Nate asked as he rubbed his hand along Kaleb’s arm. “Hey there big spoon. Medium spoon? Is Carlos the big spoon? I’m the little spoon. Wait.” He yawned as he looked back at Alex. “What does that make Handsome over here? Because I think you should be the dollop of ice cream we’re all holding.” He grinned and yawned yet again. He pulled Kaleb’s arm to his chest as he re snuggled with the two around him. Carlos’ lifeless hand flopped onto Kaleb’s side now that it did not have a Nate arm to hang onto.

Kaleb chuckled as he heard Nate and smiled. “I guess I’d be the medium spoon. You’re the little spoon and Handsome.. yeah he can be the ice cream.” Kaleb agreed as he felt Nate pull his arm to his chest. Kaleb shifted a little as he felt Carlos’ hand on his side now. Alex chuckled quietly. “I think it’s worse because we chose to make this happen, it didn’t happen on accident.” Alex said with a smile on his face. His hand shifted to rest on top of Carlos’ hand. The same one on Kaleb’s side.​

“Mm, ice cream. It’s been a long time since I’ve had ice cream.” Nate tried to remember when that happened last. It certainly was not when he was around any of the QZs. There was a small community that somehow was making it once a long time ago. “Ben woulda made some sort of joke about everyone sleeping with everyone,” he muttered as he fought the sleep trying to overtake him again. He was just so cozy. Why didn’t they sleep like this all the time? “But everyone’s got their clothes on.” He laughed to himself. From behind them all, a garbled, “that can be amended,” came from a terribly sleepy Carlos. He moved just slightly so that he was flush against Kaleb except for the one leg that was capturing Nate’s. The fingers of the hand on Kaleb’s side wrapped around Alex’s hand.

Alex heard Nate and chuckled softly. “Good thing I know how to make ice cream.” Alex commented before he sighed. “But we need to have some cows on our farm.” Alex added as he sighed, then laughed quietly at Nate. And then he heard the garbled words of Carlos and Alex snorted a laugh. “That’s not happening.” Alex said as he felt the fingers wrap around his hand. “Good morning love.” Kaleb said, glancing behind him at Carlos. ​

Nate pulled his head up, bumping a little into Kaleb. “Sorry- I’m sorry, you can make ice cream? Is there anything you can’t do? Because I have yet to find something you don’t know how to do.” He let Kaleb’s arm go and brought his hand to Alex’s face. “How are you perfect? Also, no, Carlos, clothes are staying on.” Carlos’ limbs all stretched and breathed as he welcomed in waking. He could have slept forever more, but all of his favorite people were making so many sounds and he hated not to be part of all the fun. “Good morning my love. And my other love. And my love who doesn’t know it yet. Having fun without me?”

Alex looked at Nate, hearing him. “I’ve seen it made. We used goats milk though. But cows are preferred.” Alex said as he felt the hand on his face. He blushed softly as Kaleb chuckled at both Nate’s words and then at Carlos. “Good morning.” Alex said as Kaleb shook his head. “No. We haven’t had any fun without you.” Kaleb said as he heard his stomach grumble. “Um. I hate to break this group cuddle. But I think it’s time for breakfast.” Kaleb commented as Alex’s stomach decided to join in and grumble too.​

“Wait, am I the love who doesn’t know it yet? Because I don’t think-“ Nate was interrupted by the sudden hand in his face as Carlos leaned over Kaleb and reach across to him which wasn’t hard since everyone was very close together. Carlos rested his head on Kaleb’s shoulder. “Gorgeous, why must you and your practicality ruin all of my cuddly fun?” He kissed Kaleb’s cheek before deciding that was distracting and demanding an actual kiss and then flopped over onto Nate, who objected loudly, and smiled at the other two. “Hello my other and in denial loves.”

Kaleb chuckled as he felt Carlos lean over him, as well as rest his head on his shoulder. He felt the kiss on his cheek before the actual kiss. “Look my love, I cannot tell my stomach when to and when not to be hungry. Now do you wish for me to starve?” Kaleb asked as he felt Carlos move so he flopped onto Nate. Alex smiled and laughed. “Well hello there.” Alex replied as he looked at them. That smile just grew a little bigger as he looked at his family.​

Carlos, ignoring Kaleb and his rude insistence on not dying, kissed Alex’s cheek and then Nate’s. “I’ve been told that we may want food in order to survive. We would like to avoid starvation since that is what started the confusing divorces yesterday.” He smooshed himself beside Nate, by mostly lifting him and smooshing himself underneath, and wrapped both arms around Alex and Nate. “And i don’t know about you guys, but I don’t think I want to have to go through another divorce.” He reached across Nate to Kaleb. “I think I’d like to keep my beautiful love.” His eyes lingered on Kaleb another second longer. And another. Then he smiled and was back to the other two. “So, shall we get breakfast?”

Kaleb rolled his eyes at Carlos as he ignored him. The smile on his face as he laid there was big. Alex chuckled at the kiss to his cheek and smiled. “Yeah, we’d like to avoid starvation and confusing divorces.” Alex agreed. He wasn’t expecting for Carlos to smoosh basically underneath Nate and his arm around Alex. Kaleb looked at Carlos and smiled, his eyes watching him. Kaleb was able to wiggle free from the group cuddle and sat up, reaching for the packs. “Come on you three. Let’s get some breakfast.” Kaleb said.​

“You wound me by never allowing me to do anything fun!” Carlos exclaimed as he squeezed the two he held before finally letting go. Nate extricated himself before Carlos could do anything else, which was less difficult than he thought since now he was practically laying on the big guy. “Some of us are trying but are finding it difficult.” He crawled his way further out before finally standing and turning to look at the two remaining on the blankets. “Should we bring you your food?” he asked mostly Carlos but also Alex since he was still down there.

Both Alex and Kaleb rolled their eyes again as Kaleb laughed. “We can have as much fun as you want once we find our farmhouse.” Kaleb told him as he watched Nate manage to get up. Alex felt the squeeze from Carlos and then watched Nate get up. He was quite comfortable where he was and he looked at Nate. “Breakfast in bed? That sounds good to me. What do you think?” Alex asked, turning to look at Carlos.​

“For you?” Nate asked and leaned back down and kissed Alex. “Always.” He kept himself leaning down and resituated so that he was in front of Carlos. Their foreheads collided. “Keep my spot warm for me?” Then he twisted around and joined Kaleb in actually finding the food for them. He pulled out the utensils for everyone. Carlos leaned back on both hands and grinned. “I think I like when they do things for us like this. Is this how it’s going to be every day at the farmhouse? Because I am excited for nightly group cuddles and breakfast in bed.”

Alex looked up at Nate, a soft smile on his face at the kiss. He watched Nate talk to Carlos before he was gone to help Kaleb. Alex chuckled, shifting a little and looked at Carlos. “I don’t know about every night and day. But definitely often.” Alex said, as he sat up, though he didn’t do much more than that. Kaleb grabbed some canned pickles and corn. He returned to sit down on the blankets beside Carlos with a smile. “Breakfast my love?” Kaleb asked.​

Nate sat in front of the other three and handed out utensils for each to use with their pickles and corn. “How about often and not always, because sometimes we may need time away from the whole group?” Carlos, taking the utensil, eyed him. “Oh, so you want to have that kind of night. I see how it is. Fine, you may do as you wish on occasion when I am not in the mood for cuddles.” He ignored the massive flush that overtook Nate’s face and instead turned to Kaleb. “Why thank you, my sweet.” He began to eat as was customary for breakfast. So did Nate in his silence of awkward.

Alex took the utensil with a smile and chuckled, hearing Nate. And then his face flushed just as red when he heard Carlos. He was stunned into silence at that, looking between the two. Kaleb shook his head with a laugh as he took the utensil and he took a few bites. Alex ate as well, though he was silent too. “You’re very welcome dear. And beside, we can’t have nightly cuddles because what if I want that kind of night with you?” Kaleb asked with a grin as he took a bite of corn.​

Whereas Carlos was absolutely comfortable, Nate was not. He was trying to be better about being more comfortable around everyone and being part of the conversations, this was harder for him than everyone else. The group cuddle was weird enough until he could agree that perhaps it was not so bad. But this was a bit far for him. He ate his food and tried not to think about it anymore. Carlos on the other hand, was having the best time. “Mm, then maybe I would be okay with only occasional cuddles if you’re in the right mood.” Carlos was just about always in the right mood for every situation. Group cuddles, couples cuddles. Other things. He faced the other two with no shame. “It’s only reasonable that we give the lovebirds their moment.”

Kaleb arched an eyebrow and chuckled softly. “Lovebirds. I remember we were the lovebirds. I still remember the conversation that morning. With Jordan and Asher? When we learned how they saved each other.” Kaleb said, his voice quiet as he remembered the memory with a smile on his face. He couldn’t help but wonder if they had found the man they were looking for and the town. Alex on the other hand blushed a little more and kept quiet, he was still getting used to the closeness of their family. Especially the group cuddle last night.​

Carlos nodded with the good memory. “Me too.” He reached over and bopped both Alex and Nate on the nose for no reason other than to make sure they knew that they were not alone. That was something Carlos needed a lot when he was younger and less sure of himself. “I bet I could convince those two into group cuddles more often than this occasionally sadness.” He thought about Jordan with a grin. “None of this tame always clothed nonsense either,” he laughed as he remembered that he was supposed to be eating. Nate, unsure how he felt about two additional people in the group cuddle, glanced at Alex with a nervous smile. This stomach was twisted in knots every time he thought about things they could do behind closed doors. How did Carlos and Kaleb talk about this like that?

Kaleb nodded and laughed, especially when he saw Carlos bop both Nate and Alex’s noses. “I’m sure you could convince Jordan, though I’m not sure about Asher. He might.” Kaleb said as he took a few more bites before he was full. Alex chuckled at the nose bop but tilted his head as he thought about two more people in their cuddle group. Hmm. Alex also had a few more bites before he was done. He saw that nervous smile and sent a smile to Nate, as he relaxed.​
