Eminence Faustine YowlumneOnwards, team!

Eminence's smile grew even bigger as she heard Midnight speak once more. She felt super accomplished at what she has managed to do without using any force... yet. She decided to message Ambrose as she couldn't contain her excitement any longer.

Ambrose 'Rosey'
Midnight spoke!!
Hey there, Rosey! How's class coming along? I'm just walking to where Hazel and Midnight think there would be a lot of Grimm to observe and all that. So, yeah.

Anyway, long story short: MIDNIGHT FINALLY SPOKE. TWICE. YAY. GO ME.

That's all.

-Your lovable Emi

"Aaaaaaand send." Eminence spoke up, before collapsing her Scroll to focus back on where they were headed, managing to walk beside Midnight. Her eyes wandered from rubble to rock to broken trees to piles of soil as they continued onwards. She then turned back to face Hazel as they walked. "What kind of Grimm do you think we'll be able to see?" she asked her, kicking a pebble out of the way.

"Beowulves. Ursai. We won't see Predators unless we're looking, though, so keep your guard up."

Hazel kept her weapons at her sides, two pistols with a three-round burst setting and pop-out tanto blades. Silent and with watchful eyes, she led the group from the office park through the streets. There was little besides the few small Kurtz in sidewalk cracks, which were easily taken out by her pistols, but when they reached a cracked fountain with stagnant, greenish water, surrounded by dead trees, what she thought would be a suitable warm-up came into view: six Predators, each about as tall as Hazel.

"Waste no time!" she cried as she fired bursts out of both of her pistols directly into the ranks of the Grimm. Four of her bullets grazed two Predators; the others missed entirely. Damn it. She hit a switch with her thumb, and tanto flipped out of the barrels like switchblades as she slashed her weapons against the encroaching Grimm, gritting her teeth and snapping her arms as she became a veritable whirlwind of blades and small golden pops of energy.

Wait until they hurt one of her new friends. Then the sparks would really fly.

"I see. I suppose we'll all be on the frontlines then. Perhaps we can discuss matters of fashion some time over tea, I'll admit I was curious about your dress's design." He smiled once more before pressing on into the gray ruins of Port Chrysocolla. Perhaps there was something beautiful about the ravaged gray landscape. Claw marks adorned the few standing walls of concrete that still remained and occasionally one could see a glint of light coming from glass shards buried under the rubble. Though, the young man felt himself burdened with slight sorrow - just how many had lost their homes and their lives from this mass invasion of those monsters?

Pascal led the trio forward through abandoned alleys and former storefronts. They passed a swarm of Mothen and a pack of patrolling Beowolves along the way, and it seemed that the young man was focused on getting to a specific destination. And then, it came into sight. The former remains of a toppled skyscraper, now transformed into a rusted cage without its windows. The young man was possessed by an unusual drive as he picked up the pace and continued walking towards the cage-like building that had likely been an office at one point in time. He found it difficult to breathe as they eventually reached what seemed like a possible entrance into the building. One could make out a faint skittering noise emanating from the entrance of the structure, perhaps one that was more familiar to Lapis than the other two students.
"A feast..."

"...We should prepare before we head in, maybe send a message for some back-up. I'm fairly certain this area is infested with Grimm so we'll need to be at the top of our game, so to speak." The young man gripped the handle of his cane tightly as he mentally prepared himself for combat. A strange, alien warmth settled within him as he took deep breaths. "Consume. Assimilate. Evolve."

Midnight quickly grabbed her sword and attacked any grimm that attacked the small group. She ran to a small puddle and formed two guns and started shooting them. " Hurry! Grab your weapons, The others would have heard our weapons go off. Be prepared for anything!" She yelled out to Eminence and Hazel.

She looked around for the other grimm and continued shooting any near by grimm. She tried her hardest to protect the others from the grimm's wrathful attacks. A grimm suddenly tackled her to the ground, but she shot it off her and continued to shoot "
Are you two okay?!" she asked hoping no one got hurt by any Grimm or weapon.

Azurra tried to run up on the hologram while it was down to stomp it's face in but the humanoid thing was surprisingly agile, seizing her by the foot and giving a sharp yank that brought her down to her knees. Nearly face-to-face with Palma's creation now, she gritted her teeth and cursed quietly before taking a firm grasp of her opponent's shoulder and slammed a palm strike towards it's face with all the force she could muster, torquing her whole body into the blow not caring if it meant toppling down with her enemy.

Ambrose chuckled at Obsidian's surprise, she hit the ground hard on her rear but laughed it off like it was nothing before climbing back up to her feet and really getting into the fight.

She unzipped her jacket with a flourish, palming a couple of fire crystals from one of her pockets and igniting her circulatory system like neon. It was incredibly captivating to watch, each time her heart beat the deep red glow burned with an ombre orange.

Ambrose sure as shit knew he didn't want to get hit by someone with magma in their blood but before he could quickstep it back to a safer distance the girl was on him with an uppercut that picked him up a couple inches before dropping the groggy swordsman back on his feet.

Stumbling, mildly rocked and feeling like he just got slapped in the face with torch, Ambrose retreated with his blade hiked up trying to keep the gap he was creating.

"
Okay, i'll give you that one you fuckin' Salamander." Ambrose quipped with a playful grin, the worse she kicked his ass the better a teammate he knew he had covering his back.. Couldn't let any of his comrades think they could best their fearless leader though, no, you needed respect and just a little bit of fear to head any squad.

Taking up combat position again, Ambrose gripped Crixus just a little tighter before charging at Obsidian again. This time he came in with his blade high, the tip directed at his sparring partner's ankles. As soon as he was within a sword's length he fired with shotgun attachment, hoping to force the girl to sidestep while he span with the momentum and came around with a wide slash.

Lapis' spine shivered for a bit, the clicking sound that he heard being Predator like. Quickly gripping his leader's shoulder, Lapis had to steady himself a bit, but also to hold back his leader. "That sound is a Predator. Unless you want to end up a Grimm treat, check your corners and be prepared for an attack."

Lapis quickly drew his Gemstone, slotting in an ice dust crystal. "Their weak in the joints and when their first attacks miss, they will try to get away. Ice helps slow them down." Quickly moving in, Lapis stood ready with his blade. "Let's move quickly and leave."

Eminence Faustine YowlumneAttack!

"Midnight!" Eminence cried out, watching as she got tackled to the ground. "Shit." she murmured as she took out Andel and Aaibel from their home. "And just when I forgot to practice too..." she grumbled, jumping in from above as to attack the unsuspecting Predator heading for Hazel. Landing on the Predator, Eminence pierced the Grimm on it's back with Aaibel and used Andel to push herself back onto the ground.

"That should do some da― AGH!" Eminence cried out as one of the Predators, unbeknownst to her, attacked her from behind, sending Eminence smack dab into a wall. Peeling off of the wall and falling into the ground cartoon style, Eminence rubbed the back of her head in pain. "Fucking hell..." she then felt the ground for her weapons, finding them next to the Grimm that had attacked her. "Damn."

She turned to Hazel who was closer to her babies.
"Hazel! Help me get my staffs back!" She cried out, trying to stand up as she continued rubbing her head in pain.

Cinder readied her daggers, scanning the area for threats. Something was emerging from the latticed shadows of the skyscraper cage. It looked... a giant praying mantis, Cinder realized as she jumped into battle and slashed at the head of the emerging Predator. When it deflected her blows and knocked her to the ground, she activated some of the fire Dust within her dress, blowing it back with the force of the fiery explosion and frying it to a crisp.

As she rolled into engagement with the next insect Grimm, she hoped the others were having a relatively easy time.

Azurra's palm went straight through the hologram's face, causing a sensation much like an ice shower. The hologram reacted in kind, settling into a balanced position and aiming a slap straight at Azurra's face.

Two Predators fell down in pieces next to Hazel, and she was given a brief enough reprieve to look around. To hear Eminence calling something, and see Midnight tackled to the ground and fighting her way up. "Your... staffs? They took your weapons..." Hazel growled.

She jumped into the fray, bending and twisting around Midnight's bullets as she swiped at the remaining Grimm with her weapons. A minor explosion colored gold took one Predator out, and rocked the area. This startled another one, giving her the opening she needed to slice its head off. The final Predator approached, and as Hazel stared it down and cracked her knuckles, it was buffeted by more explosions and bullets until it fell down.

Hazel took a deep breath, picked up Andel and Aaibel, and returned them to Eminence.
"I believe these are yours?"

Midnight took a deep breath and sighed, Finally... She thought to herself as she stared at her weapons. Her tail flicked around as she continued to think of escape plan's (again...) Being her usual self as she stood in silence. " Doe's anyone know the time?" She asked the others, still not showing any emotion.

Eminence Faustine YowlumneMy bruises have bruises...

Eminence forced herself to stand up, leaning on the wall for support. When she felt she was level headed, she began walking over to Hazel, taking Andel and Aaibel from her grip. "Thank you." She told her, giving her a small smile as her head began to pound once more. Her head darted to her head, clutching it in pain as Eminence let out a howl. "God damn that Predator did me in good..." She murmured, her grip on her weapons tightening more than ever.

"Does anyone know the time?" Midnight asked the two, emotionless as always. "Time for us to get back." Eminence replied, placing Andel and back into their home. "My head is killing me..." She paused for a second. "My whole body, really.." She told them, leaning on Hazel for more an easier footing. "I think I need a medic."

Ochre couldn't help but watch Reimei exploit a number of small objects in her fight, mundane things that you wouldn't expect you could use to take down a foe but he figured her semblance was a big help in that respect. A pang of jealousy crept up from the bowels of his guts, over the raw control she had over her semblance and that cold, calculated method of attacking.

"
Right.. Time to stop fucking around.." he murmured, flush faded from his face and ardor began mixing into his nervous energy. He was ready to put up a fight fully aware this class was going to be one hell of a bitch to get through.

Ochre slid to the side of the hologram with a sudden yet smooth movement before throwing his whole body behind a hook strike directed at the hologram's face, How do you like Reimei? Ochre may not have the finesse that Faunus did but he knew he had some punicshing force behind his strikes even without his Whet Arm.

Azurra felt a cold shivers course up her arm as her palm blew through the holograms head effortlessly, throwing her completely off balance towards the humanoid as it's open palm connected with her face and almost span the girl around. Stumbling slightly, Azurra kept on her feet with the side of her face burning and head ringing slightly.

That thing had slapped her, really? What an insulting way to conduct oneself in a fight. Azurra stepped in closer to the hologram, grabbing it by both shoulders and driving a knee home. Just like any other asshole that thought they could get away with disrespecting her like that.

Hazel heaved a sigh. She was almost out of aura, due to the overuse of her Semblance, and Eminence didn't look so good either. Midnight intrigued her, however - creating a gun out of water? That took some skill. She shook her head, and pulled some salve from the pouch under her skirt. "Take this and put it on your bruises." The salve was made with rare ingredients from her homeland in rural Mistral. She waited for the other girl to apply it, wondering whether she'd like to continue or bead back to the airship.

"Well done Miss Fall!" Pascal shouted as he gripped the handle of his weapon tightly. The grip on his shoulder from Lapis was reassuring and the young man made a mental note about the incident - it seemed that he had prior knowledge of this type of Grimm. While another Predator had emerged from a crevice to engage the young woman, he pressed forward into the lattice cage's corridor that led to its spacious interior. As he ran forth into the passage, he failed to notice his Scroll slip out of his pocket and fall to the ground. The chittering of the blade-wielding Grimm continued to echo through the darkness, though oddly enough they didn't seem to get any louder as he ventured into the center of the cage.

"Consume. Those wings of black shall be a part of my being."

A sudden rush of air and a brief shimmering alerted Pascal to a Predator's presence as he was the first to step into the structure's interior space. He grit his teeth as he found himself locking blades with an invisible force. The giant insect revealed itself as it disengaged the young man and leaped back a few meters. The young man suddenly found himself rasping for air once more as he glanced to the side for a brief moment. An enormous nest of rebar and chunks of concrete lay atop what was the remains of a humanoid statue - it almost seemed that the headless figure was carrying it upon its back. And atop the nest was the unmistakable black silhouette of a Nevermore. The giant beast seemed to be resting for a moment in its nes-

Pascal let out a soft cry of pain as an unseen blade slashed against his back - his Aura shattered almost immediately. Still in his stance, he took a step forward and turned to fire a Dust round at the invisible Predator that had ambushed him from behind. The student fired two shots - both of which went wild and failed to activate as a result of his depleted Aura. The pitter-patter of many legs filled the air as another Predator's blade tore through cloth and sliced his other arm.

"Complete my fearful symmetry."

Blood oozed out of the fresh wound as he found himself hastily backing away from the two unseen foes. Fear was starting to settle in his mind now as he nearly slipped on some rubble. Just what had possessed him to rush in without Lapis and Cinder? Mixed in with the pain was that intense burning sensation. His vision began to haze over as a foreign presence began to approach him amid the two invisible Predators.

Lapis found it incredibly hard to stop himself from shaking. Memories of his dead parents constantly plaguing my mind. It was in the short moment of intense mental pain when Pascal escaped the grip that Lapis had on the leader's shoulder. Each step inside of the rubble of the building only reminded him of his destroyed house. He was just about to catch up to Pascal when time slowed for him. The only times Lapis' semblance activated was when he activated it himself or when something "life threatening" was occurring. As he turned, Gemstone ready in his hands, he could hear the slowed clicking of a Predator. The two blades of the Predator's ambush attack deflected off of the Gemstone's frost covered blade, Lapis quickly countering by slashing at the Grimm's leg joints. Each slice precisely cut the joints in two, freezing the Grimm for the next attack. He soon finished off the Grimm, turning to continue after Pascal.

After a short while, he stopped, Pascal's scroll lying on the floor as if his leader dropped it. Quickly picking it up, he continued, only to find two Predator's approaching a badly hurt Pascal. Lapis began drawing attention to himself so that he try to lead away the two Predators when a sudden flashback rack his mind. As the painful memories because flooding back to him, the two Predators turned to him, one striking him down with the back of their blade. As slowly got back up, the other lunged forward, Lapis' chest getting slashed, the two blades raking his chest. "CINDER, I NEED HELP!" he shouted at the top his lungs as clutched his chest with one hand while trying to crawl away with his other. As he looked back, he could see the two Predators closing in. "Ain't this familiar..." he thought as he slowed time around him, so that he could see his life flash before his eyes a bit more slowly.

@GasMaskie, @Mollisol

Cinder's head jerked at the sound of Lapis shouting for help. Two Predators were overwhelming him, having given him a nasty slash on the chest. How powerful were these things if they could slash through aura that easily? Or was that something strange his Semblance did to his aura?

No matter, Cinder thought as she took a few steps closer and leveled her bow at the Predators, nocking three arrows and firing straight into the fray. They penetrated the Grimm's thick exoskeleton - barely. Then they turned their attention to her. Cinder drew them closer to her, jumping up on a ledge that held the branched skeletons of dead bushes. She drew herself backwards, slowly, until... hiss! Fire Dust exploded out of the embroidery on her shoulder, scorching the nearest Predator. The other jumped at her, narrowly dodging the flames, and she separated her weapon to stab it in the chest with a dagger. She used the other dagger to extract the first, then swiftly chopped the head off of the falling beast.

Having come out of the haze of battle, she looked around at her comrades - Lapis crawling on the ground, and Pascal... something was happening to him. "Pascal? Pascal!"

Eminence Faustine YowlumneMedic!

Eminence took the salve and applied it with a weak smile of on gratitude her face. She was lucky these two were with her, although Hazel did seem to be in a weak a state as she was. Midnight though, quickly changed from mouthy to silent as soon as the battle was over. 'I'll have to do my research on her more... With the help of Ambrose, no doubt.' she thought as she winced in pain when she tried moving her body. "I think it'd be for the best if we all went back to the ship." Eminence voiced out meekly, forcing herself to stand on her own, only having to her collapsing to the ground in a matter of seconds. "Agh, dammit!" she cried out. "Medic!"

No voice would answer the young woman's calls. Instead, the sound of something crunching and innards being twisted and torn rang loud and clear over the chittering of the creatures. Clad in a unfamiliar haze and a cloak of colors, that strange contradiction had been stirred awake. A Predator had attempted to strike him as he changed, yet that slashing blow never reached the being. With its sharp claws, it sliced through the bony plates and its blackened flesh. With one swift movement, the beast swung the Predator's detached limb like a sickle. The sharp blade of the once unseen foe screeched as it sliced through the first Grimm and found itself lodged in the head of the second insect. <p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2016_06/Close-Up.png.50656cd06ef265f7f3c57b5c15e1850e.png" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="133811" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2016_06/Close-Up.png.50656cd06ef265f7f3c57b5c15e1850e.png" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p>

"????????!"

The inhuman roar resounded as the two Predators that had once assailed the young man were now nothing but clouds of ash that soon coated the thing's ephemeral hide. From high above in its nest, the Nevermore stirred. One eye, then two, and finally the third opened as it let out a monstrous din. An answer to a challenge. It stood upon its sharp talons and extended its deadly wings to their full length. Yet, the strange creature continued to stare at it with its mismatched eyes. The Nevermore's gaze lingered briefly upon the two humans - one of which was still under attack by the other occupants of the steel cage. With a sudden gust of wind, the Nevermore took to the air and prepared to rain down its deadly feathers upon the being who dared intrude upon its territory.

It was torture for Lapis, waiting for his death to come. When the last of his memories finished flashing in his mind's eye, he felt his semblance dissipate. Looking down at his chest, the wound that stretched along his chest looked like it was healing, his blue aura gently sealing it. As he began getting back up, he could heard the cry of a Nevermore. Every movement he made was painful and each time his wound opened further, his chest burned. The first few attempts to get back up were a nightmare, dust from the rubble irritating Lapis' already fiery chest wound. When he did get up, it was just in time as a large Nevermore feather slammed into the ground where he was lying.

Looking over in direction that the feather was launched from, he could see the thing that Pascal had turned into staring down the Nevermore, which had just tried to scare him/it off. Looking back, he could also see Cinder, shouting something at Pascal's direction. "Don't worry about him! Just get to cover!" Lapis shouted as he (painfully) launched himself at Cinder, knocking her over behind some rubble as more Nevermore feathers pounded the ground where he last was and around Pascal. He did make sure to slow down time just enough so that his tackle would not end up in any awkward position but one can only do so much around others if they had that sort of mind. As he pressed himself against the rubble, wincing as his wounds opened again, he mumbled to himself, "Pascal, don't die this time."

@GasMaskie, @Mollisol

Cinder grunted as Lapis lunged into her, pushing her towards cover. What the hell? She could've saved herself. She looked up at the Nevermore, which was now circling and preparing to land, like a dragon. Well, maybe she couldn't have... no matter now. It was time to protect her new friends.

"Stay here," Cinder commanded as she got up. "I'll cover--"

She was cut off by the loud blasts of two large energy pistols. Professor Gorman had appeared in front of them, firing round after round into the Nevermore as it descended. The pistols appeared to be automatic given their speed. Gorman didn't seem sure what to make of the contradiction that was Pascal, but the Nevermore was a more compelling threat anyways.
"Miss Fall! Get Mister Lerazul to safety! We don't have time for this!"

Using her aura to keep herself from buckling under his weight, Cinder slung Lapis over her shoulder with some effort, and ran off towards where she remembered to be the ship, squishing tiny Kurtzes underfoot, leaving Pascal under the care of Professor Gorman.

@Deltorian Nephran @GasMaskie

Not far away, Eminence leaned on Hazel as they walked back to the ship, leading Midnight. Fortunately, the route back was peaceful and short, and medics from the ship ran out to attend to the girls.
"What have you gotten into?" one admonished.

@Aryel @InvaderTennTallest

The Nevermore seemed to shriek out in pain as the Professor's rounds smashed into its body. Down below, the beast weaved through the rain of feather flechettes. Its body twisted with abnormal speed and dexterity as it preformed a macabre dance around the falling projectiles. The Grimm belched out black smoke from its wounds as it instead flew toward the cage's steel walls. With one set of the claws jutting out of its raven black wings, the avian creature latched onto the steel lattice. Its three eyes homed in on the Professor and the thing.

With a dreadful swing of its appendage, it launched a few feather straight up and out of the structure. And with a second swift movement of its uninjured wing, the Nevermore fired off more of its feathers at the two occupants of the cage. The beast's mismatched eyes were still locked onto to the giant Grimm and once more it weaved through the first set of feathers. Its strange, unyielding gaze had finally been broken when a whistling noise from above caught its attention.

A feather skewered the beast's left leg and pinned it to the ground. Even if a Grimm's mask was unreadable, the strange creature had feeling that the Nevermore felt proud of its strategy. It roared out once more - the pain and rage resounding as the noise began to slowly change. From within its right arm, one could hear the
cracking of bones and flesh being rended. His right arm quivered, undulated, and trembled as its shape began to change. The beast's strange roar slowly gave way to the telltale trumpeting of a Goliath as its right arm became thicker.

<p><a href="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2016_06/57a8cac95356c_TygerAttack.png.1c7fe85103007b10e6dcda4f8466fc59.png" class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image"><img data-fileid="134090" src="<fileStore.core_Attachment>/monthly_2016_06/57a8cac95356c_TygerAttack.png.1c7fe85103007b10e6dcda4f8466fc59.png" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt=""></a></p> The wound slowly tore further as it leaned over and yanked out a feather from the ground. Even without the use of one leg, it simply knew that this would work. Raw
Power had been concentrated in the shapeshifted limb - its muscle mass had increased and the bones had become thicker and sturdier. Slowly, the beast twisted its body back. And in one explosive instant it released the feather from its grip like a javelin. The Nevermore shifted its head slightly, but the feather's pointed tip still managed to strike its mark.

Ash spewed forth from the avian Grimm's skewered third eye as it released its grip on the steel beams and fell to the ruined and cracked ground below with a thud. There was no doubt that it was still alive - though the blow to its eyes would likely force it to engage them on the ground. The beast yanked out the feather that pierced its leg and fell to one knee - its breathing heavy and ragged. Despite the pain, it kept a deathgrip upon the bloodied feather and limped forward towards the Nevermore's location. It paid no mind to the Professor - all that mattered was its
meal.

Professor Gorman gritted his teeth as he saw the monstrosity take shape, then cringed as he heard the sounds. He saw the Nevermore fall, and the... Goliath... thing... lumber over to it. And he knew what he had to do. Getting a clear line of sight on the beast, he stared into its masked yellow eyes. Then he raised his guns, got each eye in his scopes, and fired.

There was a roar as great as the sea, and an explosion that rivaled the light of the sun. Blue energy mushroomed out from his pistols with a loud crack, and engulfed the great winged beast.

But not before the thing had made its way over for its meal.

Eminence Faustine YowlumneEven my bruises have bruises.

Eminence just grinned painfully at the nurses as they tended to them. "Oh just a little battle along with being slammed into concrete, is all. she told them as she winced as one of the nurses tried to lift her right arm and carefully lowered it as a result of Eminence's reaction. She just shook her head as the nurse apologized repeatedly. "I'll be fine." she told her, smiling sympathetically as she tried her best to reassure the woman. "I've been through worse. Trust me." Eminence's attention then went over to Hazel and Midnight, who were also being tended to by nurses. 'Hopefully they're better off than I am.'

And it was finished. The avian Grimm's corpse dissipated into a thick blanket of smog that the thing lumbered into with its misshapen body and strange colors. And just as before, the deceased foe's essence began to funnel into the creature's body. Shards of white soon appeared in the blackened air around the thing as it continued its assimiliation consumption.

"No... not yet. You're growing too fast - I wouldn't want to spoil the surprise."

The barrel of a gun slowly extended from a shaded part of the cage. While it was certainly in good condition, its design indicated it was from the Great War. A white glove slowly pulled down on the trigger of the antique pistol. And in an instant, the weapon belched out three bullets that glowed green with perhaps some strange substance applied to it? Lines of sickly green lit up the air for a brief moment before finding their target in the thick of the miasma. There was an inhuman roar and then - silence.

When the air cleared, all that was left was a badly battered student, perhaps a little over-dressed for the occasion. Although he looked rather wounded and abused by combat, he was clearly still alive judging by the slow movements of his back and the faint heartbeat.
