Fandom RWBY Prequel: Pillars of Chaos (reboot)

Obsidian had made it to Dueling early, she had to many jitters to sleep. So bright and early was breakfast and straight to class. The tea room looked elegant, even with everything out of place, the girls eyes scanned the room making note of the pad on the floor. Which there would be in class dueling on the first day.

More students started to file in and Obsidian was confronted with her teammate Ambrose. She turned to him, returning the large grin and pounding her fist against his. Their teacher began to speak and Obsidian read over the rules quietly, but her head shot up when she heard a few words slip out of her team mates mouth.

"Lets go over there.." She stated pointing her thumb to another corner of the room awkwardly. Ambrose seemed to go along with it and they retreated in another direction.

She had been asked another question as Ambrose pulled his sword from its sheath, and that meant they were going to duel, the jitters started to well up adrenaline pumping. But the question, it was either a bit sarcastic or Ambrose just wasn't paying attention, either way she was going to answer in pure excitement.

"This baby right here." She stated tapping the dark sythe that hung on her back by a thick leather strap. Of course Obsidian had a few crystals stashed away in her pocket as well.

"...All set here. Now it's just a matter of surviving this class and the rest of the semester." The young man muttered those words to himself as he went over his equipment once more before joining his classmates in the line to the Bullhead airship. La Vie en Rose was sheathed in his cane and he carried a few rounds packed with Fire Dust in his pocket. The dapper student made minute adjustments to his hat and tie as he continued to stand in place.Although he carried himself with a certain sort of pride, only he knew just how painfully shallow that confident pride was. "Don't deny me."

A sudden sensation of intense heat assaulted Pascal as he stood in line. For a moment, he wavered and nearly bumped into the person in front of him. The heat flash ceased just as quickly as it started, though he remained wary for a few more moments. The fledgling hunter glanced around at his classmates this time around. Of course, Lapis was in this class as well which was a great reassurance. He also recognized three others from Grimm Geography yesterday. And it seemed that the lonely black-haired girl from yesterday's breakfast was also enrolled in this class.

At the very least, it might be easier to get to know people in this class. Relationships form faster under the stress of impending danger if I remember correctly. Perhaps a large Grimm like the Goliath will appear at Port Chrysocolla? That would mean working together as a team to take it down, just like we did at the labyrinth... It occurred to him once more that he had no recollection of that part of their initiation. And he had forgotten once more to ask Lapis or the other members of Team PERL about it. He sighed softly as he leaned on his cane and prepared to board the airship to their 'classroom'.

Eminence Faustine YowlumneIs it too mean? Maybe.

Eminence woke up rather late. The woodnotes would usually be a welcoming sound, but the ringing of her Scroll just made the start of her day a little bit Dustier than normal. "Shit." She murmured as she jumped out of bed, not caring that she was making a mess and a ton of noise as she was the only person left in their dorm room. "I'll deal with this mess later." she spoke to herself, hastily getting dressed. Grabbing Andel and Aaibel just in case, she then began sprinting to her class, Grimm Physiology.

With nothing but two minutes to spare, Eminence found her way onto the airship before it was about to take off.
"Dusting hell..." she spoke up, catching her breath as she was bent over. "That was close..."

"Good morning, all. We'll be heading for Port Chrysocolla. For those of you not up on your Mistral history, this is a coastal town ravaged by some disease brought in from Vacuo," he said, snorting the kingdom's name. "When the plague ravaged the town, only Faunus survived, and the sense of loss and blame the humans felt attracted hundreds of Grimm. We are going to... observe them. In combat." Professor Gorman told the class.

After she managed to catch what little breath she had left, Eminence scanned the room to see if she saw any familiar faces. Spotting Hazel over one side, she gave her a small smile and wave before she continued searching on. Remembering Professor Gorman's words, she began wondering what kind of Grimm they would happen upon in a few moments. Eminence's eyes then landed upon Midnight by the back of the class, a smile on Eminence's face as she found who she was hoping would be here.
'Now, hopefully she won't run away from me anytime soon.' She thought as she made her way to Mid. 'Seeing as we are on a ship, she has nowhere to run to.' She added, a devilish grin evident on her face.

"Oh Midnight~" she called out to her in a sing-song tone, making sure to have her devil's grin off her face, as she closed in on her somewhat shy teammate. "Looks like I'm not the only one from ALOE on this airship. Why don't we stick together?" She asked her, not expecting any form of answer in return. 'If she won't listen to us, then I'll have to start using a little force.' she thought to herself. Eminence, along with Ambrose and maybe (hopefully) Obsidian, just wanted Midnight to break out of her little shell and be able to have a conversation with the woman. It would benefit not only Midnight but the team as a whole.

"I'd be honored," Xavier said, unsheathing his sword to reveal a long, flexible, whiplike metal blade. "I'll make the first move, if you'll follow me to this side." He led the other blonde to an open area near the right side of the tea room. Then he raised his urumi, holding the hilt with two hands, and waited for the other man to get into a fighting stance.

"Ready... ? Let's go!" Xavier whipped his urumi forward in a whip-cracking motion, going for a direct attack straight at Cruor's neck. He leaned into the blow, placing his right foot out for balance. The blade was sharp enough to behead anyone who didn't use aura to protect themselves.

Meanwhile, once everyone was inside, the airship shut its door and took off to Mistral's southern gulf. The forests, villages, and swamps passed below them, and as they descended, turned into a vast, decrepit city of crumbled gray buildings, some tall and some short. Several Mothen were perched inside a skyscraper whose front had been ripped away like in a dollhouse, and smaller Grimm sauntered through the streets and the docks. "So that's what a dead city looks like," Natsumi said solemnly. Marlyn put a hand on her back comfortingly.

They touched down in an open space that looked like it'd been the center of an office park, or something similar. The buildings around it were barely standing, cracked and full of holes. As the door to the airship opened once again, Professor Gorman strode out first, weapons in hands.
"Don't stray too far from the office park, lest you get lost. And you are absolutely not to travel alone - groups of two, at minimum," he said sternly, facing into the airship. "Be prepared to come back and verbally state your observations after the next two hours. Finally, I'll be using your scrolls to track you, and be following each group. Staying in one place for too long will read as especially worrisome. With those warnings, take flight and go observe!"

Cinder turned to a man she'd heard introduced before - the only person she was sure she knew the name of. "Lapis? Would you like to travel with me while we explore this place?"

(OOC: the Grimm that may be seen in this area include Ursai, Beowulves, Mothen, Predators, Kurtz, and less commonly, Deathstalkers and Nevermores. If your Grimm submission was not used and you would like to know why, feel free to PM me.)

Reimei "Shura" Shinohara

"Perfect," Reimei said with a smirk. "Don't expect too much outta me though," She said with that smirk on her face fading to a dull and boring expression. Tossing the dust crystal shards into the air, they pieced back together before she snatched it in her free left hand, placing it away who-knows-where with her lack of viably present pockets. Tossing the rest of the items up afterward, she whipped her gourd upward from the string connecting it to her waist. Catching it in her hand, she flung the wooden up into the air, the other items returning to their storage for the moment before she'd take a drink of the alcohol within.

"Bingo," Reimei stated as she'd snuck the paperclip into her mouth, raising her left hand to flick the ball at her hologram opponent. As it was flicked, the wooden ball was shaped into the form of a needle, which headed straight at the hologram's forehead. Same moment, Reimei leaped at her opponent from a low position, dashing right beside the enemy and letting the paperclip unfold out of her mouth to shoot at the target's neck from behind. Maneuver one, performed. Depending on the results, she'd move on to either step two or four of this assault.

Both the paperclip and the needle-cork seemed to pass seamlessly through the hologram. Only Palma herself knew how many hits the constructs would last - they were made from her aura, after all. The hologram struck back by pivoting its arm back, its elbow moving through Reimei's head - the sight was blinding, and the feeling was similar to sticking one's body in a walk-in freezer.

The hologram's next move was to spin with its momentum and catch Reimei in a spinning kick. Though it couldn't actually knock her off her feet, this would certainly startle her.

Ambrose took up position, his right leg slightly forward and shoulders relaxed as he raised his sword in line with Obsidian. Tapping her sinister looking scythe but not unsheathing it, he smirked assuming she was just that confident.

"
Well then let's see what that baby can do," he spoke in a hushed tone, readying himself for a fight.

Ambrose dropped his blade down low and dashed across the short distance between him and his target, slashing upwards at her upper body and head with a crushing, diagonal blow.

Reimei "Shura" Shinohara

"Keh," Reimei said as the hologram struck back. "Such a stupid-" She began, although was hit by a second strike from the spinning. "Hologram..." This, however, lead her to go a different route than she'd initially planned with her moves. The hologram wanted to paly strength, so she'd respond with strength. With her two objects flying back to her and into her gourd, they reshaped on their way back all the while Reimei herself flicked a pebble into the air with her thumb. Catching it into a closed fist, the pebble, more precisely a mere piece of stone at this point, seemed to vanish upright as her hand went from semi-closed due to the rock, to a fully clenched fist. With condensed rock in hand, Reimei took a few steps forward, punching at the bloody hologram with the very same fist.

However, this wasn't all to her move. Upon the punch going across the hologram, Reimei's hand swung right back at it and opened up, slamming into the hologram hard as the rock suddenly expanded to be the size of a watermelon. Of course, the rock shattered into shards, but the speed of growth contributed to a powerful hit indeed. With the powerful strike done, Reimei's rock shards reformed back into the original pebble that it was, placing itself back into the gourd just like the previous items.

Azurra sighed at the creepy humanoid hologram before her and thought about how easy this would be with Thorne. Even while she perked up her pheromone production as she gingerly approached her opponent, pumping out an irresistible urge to like her but so far it just seemed to watch her stroll up as if she needed to make the first move. She decided it had better be a good one, but couldn't think of how.

"Fuck it.." Azurra mumbled under her breathe when she noticed Reimei resorting to punching her hologram right in the mouth.

Then, whether or not her pheromone abilities even worked against a hologram, she got within arms reach and tried to deliver as sly a kick as she could straight into the creature's gut. She had read somewhere that the base of your gravity, Solar plex-something or other was around there, and she hoped she had hit hard enough to knock it off it's feet. Would an easy fight be so much to ask for?

Obsidian chuckled to herself at Ambrose's comment, "She's saved for later.." The girls feet jumped in place with excitement, she was getting riled up; so riled that she hadn't even noticed Ambrose make the first move. He came at her with speed, something that Obsidian herself lacked and it knocked her back on her bum.

After a moment of realizing what had just happened the girl shook her head before getting back up. She laughed enjoying herself, she reached down an zipped her jacket that she wore, up most of the way from where it hung before reaching into her pocket and grasping a couple of her fire dust crystals.

Taking the dust crystals in her hands she clasped around them, taking in a quiet breath before the crystals crushed under her palms. The orange glow slowly coursed through her hands in hot viens that looked like boiling magama, not only was this the tactic that she had shown the day before in class but it was also the girls semblance; Temprate Control. Using her semblance it allowed her body to withstand the temperatures of the dust that she weaved into her skin.

After Ambrose's attack was delivered he was closer to Obsidian, so she wouldn't have to make a distanced travel to deliver an upper cut blow upon Ambrose, throwing him back the same way he had done to her.

Ebony stood silently in Aura Developememt looking over the holographic figure before her, some of the students around her had already begun to face of with their own hologram of an opponent, but this girl just stood there. They were starting staight off with something combat related, was the only thought that ran through her mind. Ebony was rather confused and almost distraught, believing this was going to be more on developing and not straight off using her aura and semblance.

Ebony wasn't one for crazy showing off her semblance, but everyone around her was hard at their own thing so she much doubted anyone would even give her a sideways glance as she focused on her task. Taking in a sharp breath she held her palms a few inched away from one another where the light of her aura started to form. After the ball started to form she released it into a bounding grown wolf, unlike the small one she often conjured as a companion, fading light being left in its wake of steps until coming in contact with the hologram and disappeared. Professor Palma said that a victory was not required so Ebony considered herself don with the task.

Midnight freaked out when she saw one of her team mates wave to her and walk up to her. She didn't know what to do, she started to sweat a little as she Rea didn't want to have to say anything. She sat there and didn't make a sound until her teammate started to try to talk to her. She flinched a little due her little surprise that they were still trying to socialise with her.

She acted as if she didn't hear Anything and continued on listening to the teacher .

Xavier parried against the blows with his long urumi, snapping back at the last second. He spun and tried to whip his urumi around his body in a defensive position, and then spun it back at Cruor, trying to rip the falchions out of his hands.

With the kick headed right at Reimei, she jumped and went backwards with the kick, although was still hit by it on her way. However, this wasn't of much concern. Her movement lead to landing on her hands and then feet as well, with the flooring itself vibrating slightly as she was still moving downward. "Check mate..." Reimei said dully as the floor's material shot up as several thin but strong and fast spikes, piercing through the hologram and creating what would've been a prison for a normal person due to the sharpness of each spike. Similarly, a spike came out of the floor beside Reimei, breaking off of the floor to form a thin but sturdy javelin which could be used for further combat should the need arise.

Ebony was about to walk away, finished with the idea of fighting a hologram, but turned back when she heard the hologram grapple her semblance. Her head turned to witness it, having to stiffle a whimper at the sight before her eyebrows furrowed and her creature of light faded.

The girl turned back to the hologram, her cheeks ghosting a red color. Though Ebony was often calm, there were somethings that could erk her the wrong way; one of those things being the harm of her creations that came from her semblane. In her mind they weren't just beings or creations, they felt things the same way anyone else did. She outstretched her hands, palms facing towards the hologram, letting tendrils form and shoot towards it.

At first, Lapis was surprised by the fact that yet another girl had decided to talk to him, but he soon shrugged it off. This girl, was clad mostly in red, a colour that only reminded him of all the suffering that he had gone through. Of course, he kept most of it to himself because he was considerate like that. "Sure, um... Sorry, I didn't quite catch your name. I remember you slightly from orientation, but besides being in... was it team ORCA, I don't really know your name. Not that I am deliberately forgetting, just that I didn't really pay attention." With that, he realised that he was going to be leaving Pascal by himself... again. Turning back to his team leader, Lapis quickly asked, "Do you think you can handle yourself, Pascal?"

Lapis didn't really wait to hear the answer, as he was about 85% sure that Pascal was going to be fine, due to the fact that nothing had happened to him when he got lost at school. Lapis did stop to wonder, about the fact that Pascal and him were in a Grimm infested city but Lapis simply shrugged it off, again. After collecting his things and himself a bit, he returned to the girl that had greeted him and replied, "Let's go."

Eminence Faustine YowlumneAdventure~~!

Heaving a sigh, Eminence scratched the back of her head, a little annoyed at the matter at hand. 'I knew this was going to happen...' she thought, slouching forward in defeat. The airship took off for Mistral, heading south. Going against her better judgement, she she decided to let go of trying to communicate with her teammate― for now, at the least. Eminence moved over to the window, making sure to keep Midnight in her line of sights. The sights were a thing to see, lush forests, villages either full of life or barren and hollow, and the murky swamps flew by below them; almost a blur as the ship flew more quickly.

They had touched down a moment later, the surrounding area in a decrepit state.
"Those buildings won't hold up for much longer.." Eminence spoke up, as she made her way back to Midnight's side once more. She watched as Gorman was the first to walk out of the ship's mouth with weapons in hand.

"Wolves can't exactly take flight..." Eminence murmured to herself, smiling as she took a hold of both Andel and Aaibel, gleaming as their metal bodies were struck with direct lighting. She then turned to face Midnight, her body wanting to feel the rush of a battle. "Looks like we're sticking together, Mid." she told her in all seriousness. She couldn't let the woman go alone, and she sure as hell wasn't going to let her. "C'mon. This'll be fun."

Midnight stared out the window throughout the flight not really paying attention to anyone or anything. She realised that she could not escape her persistent team mate. All she did was sigh this is gonna be worse than I thought... She thought to herself sighing again.

The ship then landed and Eminence seemed to be saying something to midnight as she was looking at Her like she was about to explode with excitement. Midnight thought if she just said one thing.... Maybe her teammates wouldn't have to worry anymore. "
Tsh... Horray....." She said in a very blunt tone. She didn't mean to sound so dead, she just couldn't express any emotion for some weird reason.

Eminence Faustine YowlumneDusting Finally!!

’She spoke! She actually spoke!’ she thought to herself with joy and excitement. Eminence gave herself a mental slap on the back for her accomplishment. Failing to hide her joy, she was the first one out of the airship, just behind Professor Gorman. “Come on, Midnight!” She called out, waving at her teammate from the mouth of the ship. ‘I can’t wait to tell Ambrose about this later.’ She thought, waving her weapons around her like a baton. Although the reply was rather short and blunt, it was a step up from Midnight just turning to face the other way.

They were supposed to observe the Grimm in the surrounding area and see how they went by their daily lives.
“I think it would be best to enter the heart of this ramshackled area.” She told no one in particular. Scanning the group in airship, she again spotted Hazel by her lonesome. Eminence then noticed that Hazel was the only one from her team on the ship. Without thinking twice, she called out to her. “Hey Hazel! Why don’t you join me and Midnight?!” she cried out, grinning at the woman.

Cinder shook her head. "It won't be necessary to leave him on his own - he can come with us. Professor Gorman did say two people was the absolute minimum." She also worried about the elegant but vaguely frail-looking leader of team PERL - his weapon also looked like it belonged in a museum. And besides, the more people she traveled with, the more likely it was that someone would like her. She turned to Pascal. "You can lead the way. And my name is Cinder Fall."

@GasMaskie @Deltorian Nephran

Meanwhile, Hazel turned her head in Eminence and Midnight's direction and nodded before walking over to accompany them. The truth was she knew of Midnight - the asocial girl who ran out of classes, the one faculty liked to make up stories about. Hazel wasn't sure if it was out of pity or curiosity, but she wanted to get to know Midnight a little better.

Eminence had said something about checking out the heart of this place - "What did you mean by that?" she asked in her quiet voice, pulling Hanabi and Kurayami from her sleeves. "I imagine the larger Grimm will be lurking in places more covered by rubble." She made a "lead the way" gesture as the group prepared to leave the airship.

He found himself slowly stepping forward based purely on instinct alone. The first few steps were unsteady, but he soon found himself striding forward with an unfound confidence. A dryness settled in his throat as he continued to advance just a few steps more before he glanced back at the other two students.

"I believe we should head this way. Lapis, perhaps it'd be best if you took point. Miss Fall, some more information about your capabilities would be appreciated before we venture any further into the port." He wasn't quite sure about taking lead, but if anyone had to bear the burden of being constricted by the chains of command he'd happily take it in the place of others. Why? That was something he wasn't quite sure of himself.

Cinder noticed Pascal eyeing her clothing. She'd changed into her red dress in the airship's bathroom, rather than go it in her un-Dusted uniform. "My capabilities include extracting Dust from clothing, glass and fire in the case of this dress, and... this," she said, extracting her weapon, folding it into a bow, taking aim at a high-flying Mothen, and missing by a long shot. "I'm far more effective up close, but highly skilled with my Dust and fighting skill. I would show you, but my resources are finite."

Midnight thought for a while Hazels right...the grimm would be around the more...deadlyish area, it would be a good spot or the to hide and then strike... She didn't intend on speaking again so she didn't bother saying her thoughts out loud. " ...Take the lead.." she said as she gestured for Hazel to go ahead of her.

She continued thinking about the grimm and the dangers ahead that they may face. she grabbed out her sword just incase of an enemy attack, She clenched it in her hand and looked around to see if she could spot any close by grimm.

Midnight thoughts she saw at least 3 but they turned out to be old parts of brick and dust. Most of the way she walked in silence and a little fear.
