So based on what I have read and seen it seems you need a representative from the Republic side…probably some sort of skill monkey detective …I will take a look at the books tomorrow morning. I am open to any suggestions and ideas.
The initial plot is that a seedling from a Millennium Tree has been stolen by some bad guys and you are a team of paranormal investigators tasked to get it back before a MAJOR diplomatic incident happens.

I am strongly considering playing a young man of both Korean and Japanese descent, or what is known in some places in some parts of Asia as a "dust child" because the kid is worth less than dust.

Maybe he looks Japanese and was raised in the new Empire as Japanese but he really isn't. He might study Korean martial arts instead of Japanese.

Perhaps he has left the new Empire to live in the Republic because no one there really cares? Maybe he lived in a studio apartment with a couple of cats aiding tech-oriented law enforcement agencies with paranormal mysteries. Maybe he bolts up enough reputation to be considered for this special team?

Maybe that's how he pays the bills and it is something he can do while the Spirit Host side of him asks him to intervene in aiding the innocent and putting down supernatural evil?

Just a thought.

I like it when you think. It makes for some very interesting characters and actions. Keep it up!

Thank you, Bud! It's just me being me. =)

Eon, if it's skills you want, I would gladly point you in the direction of Ninjas & Superspies (Revised edition). You want to talk skills? If done with care and research, you can create some real James Bond/Ishikawa from Ghost in the Shell types with not a huge amount of effort.

I was not aware Ninja’s and Superspies was an approved book for this endeavor. You are very right about some well skilled OCCs coming from there. I will dig out my copy and look at it later today.

Huh! Well, to be fair, I didn't ask. We use N&S so often as a reference, I didn't think otherwise. Allow me to rectify that!

Sherwood Sherwood Are O.C.C.s from Ninjas & Superspies Revised Edition fair game?

In the event that there is a discrepancy between Rifts Japan and N&S, go with the Rifts book. I have noticed some differences in the techniques between the two in a few cases, so if it is available in Rifts Japan, we will use that version

Terrific! Thank you! =)

I feel that a lot of the cybernetic-savvy classes would fit naturally into a game like this one. Law enforcement, espionage,, medical, you name it - N&S has what I feel the Republic of Japan uses everyday down to a fine art. =)

Sherwood Sherwood If by "techniques" you mean "skills," should we simply drop skills that aren't in the Rifts book (like Microfilm/Microfiche/Microdot, Microwave Communication, and the like)? Or what?

Edit: Can we still use skills found in the Palladium 6.0 Skills Compendium?

Let's just stick with the Rifts book for skills. That way we won't have to compare back and forth between pdfs to see what each one has for its bonuses and such.

Forgive me if you've already answered this and I just can't recall it - are we going to be operating within the Republic of Japan? Kind of like the way Section 6 did a lot of inner city travel?

And about the enemies we'll typically be taking on, I'm not quite certain about the setting enough to either choose something like the supernatural-heavy Demon Queller ("Shoki") or the skill-heavy Espionage Agent.

There may come times where you travel out of the country, even out of the Japanese islands completely. You are going to be dealing heavily with the supernatural, so I mighty lean more towards the Demon Queller

Are we going to be an established group, or are we meeting for the first time in game?
Probably will set you up at the start add new members of the unit, but you are new to each other.

Are there going to be Tachikomas? (Don't know if I spelled that right, but you know what I'm saying).

Lol I might make some robots for you to play with, but I am making no promises.

"Dealing heavily with the supernatural." That sounds fitting, but it looks like I need to be very careful about which O.C.C. I choose for this guy. =)

Rifts! If you think you only have one or two character options, you're doing it wrong! 8D

I have to say that I am not personally aware of any game with as large of a selection of available books to pull into it than the Palladium system. I'm sure that there are some out there that have more books, but I don't know of any.

You could say the Palladium universe is... Mega! 8D
