Heyo, I sorta want to have a Pilot Skill revolving around Overclock and Overheat, either reducing the chance of overheating or increasing PA stats when overheated. Is that alright, or too out there? Alternatively, if I wanted a Pilot Skill that reduced the Weight Limit cost of Shields, how much could the cost reduction be?

Also, does the Southern Seas Merchant Alliance do business with the Sultanate? Or do they exclusively trade with their own islands? And how's the slave trade in your world working?

Either or is fine, the chance of overheating is set at a 33% chance at moment while the bonuses for Overclock are +1 POW/+1 MOB so you can decide which aspect the pilot skill should focus on.

The Southern Seas Merchant Alliance does business with every nation except the Kidou Empire, though its largely based on which families are aligned with other nations. As for slave trade, its outlawed in the Kingdom of Lacille and the Zeldran Confederacy. Legal in the Al'faed Sultanate though the Merchant Alliance is divided on slave trade. It's more common for non-Alliance merchants and Sultanate native traders to engage in the capture and transportation of slaves. The Kidou Empire's stance is unknown.

And if you're wondering why the thread is empty, the other players have been using Discord as their primary channel for discussion.

Yup, I was aware that most people were gonna use the Discord.

I've basically three Pilot Skills written up now. Could you tell me which ones are OK and which ones aren't?
  • When rolling Overheat checks, roll 2D3 and Overheat on double 1s.
  • When Overclocking after Overheated, gain an additional +2 POW and +2 MOB.
  • Shield WL cost is reduced by 2.

Is there precedence in the Sultanate for slaves being granted citizenship/freedom after, say, the death of their master? Or would they end up being passed down the family like an inheritance?

The latter two seem like they'd work well, the first skill reduces the chances of overheating by too much - ideally it'd only modify the roll into a 1d4 to reduce the chance of overheating early on.

There's precedence for masters to grant freedom to their slaves while on their deathbeds, though some slaves who simply became thrills as a result of an inability to pay debts off simply need to work until it's paid off. A majority of the slaves brought in from other parts of the world by slavers work until death while their children inherit their status as slaves as well.

Alright, character sheet's done. Just to confirm, but a Pilot's knowledge of Tactical Magic doesn't necessarily make them a Magician, right? There are Non-Magician Pilots and Magician Pilots, with the latter being able to do bigger explosions than the former, but the former still being able to make their Phantasmal Armor do the big booms regardless?

Correct. Magician Pilots are capable of casting Tactical Magic outside of a Phantasmal Armor as well, but all Pilots are simply trained for at least one spell to use their PAs. If you're familiar with Gundam, Magicians aren't equivalent to Newtypes in this RP.

Gotcha. If a player were to make a Magician, would their starting resources change at all, or would it basically just be the same?

If anything, they might just have a pilot skill for a passive +1 POT with no activation conditions in place of their starting one. While they could also create inscribed crystals, if a player were to leave it'd leave the rest of the group in a tough spot so that's going to be handled by an NPC either way.
