I'm tempted now to plan a flame piece wielding raccoon totem Lunar. So full of shit the scarlet empress can smell it every time he speaks.

His name is Tocket and he shall be a ride specialist. Specifically that of a tyrant lizard named Brute.

Probably wont be able to get away with it but it wont stop me from trying.

I have been approached by FTR FTR , asking me to allow her to join in our fun here. I'm currently working on a character for her, a Changing Moon thief type. Should have it done in the next few days. Hopefully everyone will be helpful in welcoming her to the fun.

I will ponder this. Its not like the Lunar xp will be a major amount, and we have some time before you will be getting any points.

I have found a quote in the corebook.

On page 177 it explicitly says that Solar Experience can be used for Martial Arts Charms and Evocations. I had assumed Lunar Experience would be the same way.

Sadly it does explicitly say "except charms" for the Lunars. Pg149 linar manuscript.

But I'd say that gives us plenty room to increase our abilities. Such as leaving one xp for mostly charms without worrying about our stats dipping.

I can see arguments going both directions on this. However, in order to make a ruling, I will go ahead and say that the Lunar XP can be applied to both Sorcery and Martial Arts. Once the actual hard release comes out that may be clarified, but for now, we'll go with this.

Speaking of sorcery!

Death of Obsidian Butterflies is a decisive only attack. However it doesn't mention adding initiative to damage, like the fire falcon one does. It also says that initiative does not reset when using it.

Does this mean that DoOB is untied to initiative and will thusly do the same damage at 3 initiative as it would at 30?

The base to-hit for the spell is Perception + Occult, as an undodgable Decisive attack. You then do damage of Essence + your successes. So, yes, it would not matter what your initiative number is for your damage.

Cool. Seems like some reliable damage even in a pinch. And can save initiative for Gambits and the gun.

Which reminds me! Can decisive only charms be used to perform gambits? Such as DoOB.

Excellent.

It would have to depend on the gambit, and how you are doing it. Obviously, DoOB couldn't really perform a Clinch, for example.

What a out a Distract Gambit? Yet that basically transfer a number of initiative spent. However it doesn't use initiative.

Whatever initiative is lost is transferred to someone else, so the spell in theory could be used as a Distract Gambit.
