Fantasy Lifeweb Academy: School For The Magical

Solbi the Nimbi

She nodded at his warning, though she already kinda figured that it was just a goven. Of course she would be careful! Perhaps he was just saying it to remind himself. "Leteth us be off then," she said, standing back up. She was getting rather impatient by now and just wanted to finally go, but no one else seemed to see the urgency. Their lives might be in some sort of danger and they hadn't a care in the world! She grabbed Skye's arm and tugged it sharply towards the exit, trying to pull him along.

Skye jerked back before turning to the other two. "You guys go hang out elsewhere, I'd rather not have you two be caught down there." He said before letting out a sigh and allowing the smaller girl to take him along. "Alright, you have any idea where the entrance is, princess?"

Solbi thought for a moment as she kept dragging him along, not sure where she was particularly going. She turned right immediately as they exited the cafeteria, then headed down the hallway to god knows where. "Letest us find a place labeled for staff only. We canst start thither," she said in a confident tone. Who knew if this plan would work. She bumped into a few random students along the way, not stopping to apologize. She was on a mission, so she didn't have time for pleasantries or whatever. She was headed to the first staff only marked door she could find.

When she did, not too far away from the cafeteria, she stopped and turned to it, eyeing it suspiciously. Once she did, she gave the doorknob a jiggle and pushed it open, revealing a dark, boring broom closet. "Piffle! Thou canst find the next door," she said, glancing at him from the side before closing the door back to its original position. She wasn't sure what she was expecting. Probably a neon sign that just screamed 'SECRET LAIR DOWN HERE JUST PULL THIS LEVER'. But they had a lot of ground to cover if they wanted to comb the school's restricted areas, so they didn't really have all the time in the world to pull on every random object in every random room.

Plus this was a time to assess Skye and how he handled the situation. She needed to be sure that the apparently-potential-prince was up to code. She already didn't approve of his lowly status, but she waived the notion because he payed so much attention to her. And in the end, that's what mattered to her most. But little things like skill and social countenance counted for something she supposed. She turned back to look at him and waited for him to make their next move.

Skye's eyes were darting from door to door, looking for some sign of importance. Sadly, nothing seemed as if it would be out of place. Everything seemed so...uniform. He knew that they didn't have time to search each and every door before they would be found out. "Maybe we're looking for the obvious here...What if it's not actually a door? There could be a bookshelf in the library, or something like it, hiding a passageway. We certainly don't have the time to check every door either, we'll be found out rather quickly." He grunted and crossed his arms. "Any ideas? Cause I'm all out. Well, out of safe ones."

She looked at him for a moment, considering his proposal. "Well, 'tis not probably the best of ideas to do this.. Letest us try thy idea and see how that goeth," she agreed, though not too pleased about it. If they always changed tactics, they would never explore the opportunities to their fullest extent, and there was a good chance they would miss something. But for now, this was all about Skye's approach to the situation, not hers. So she let him take this one. "Well? Takest me thither!" she demanded, impatient to start the real investigation.

Everything she did seem to be somehow delayed by Skye somehow, and she was starting to get over it. Her patience thinning, she grunted in annoyance as she grabbed his arm once again and started pulling him towards where she thought she saw the library before. As she did, she once again started her rampage of zero social courtesies, and assumed the halls were made for just the two of them and their investigation. After circling a time or two, she finally located the library, and dragged him inside with her. Looking around, she didn't know where to start, especially since it was so huge. Who knew they would need this many floors just for books!

Letting go of his arm, she turned back to him. "Well, whither shouldst we start thy plan?" she asked, hoping he would be able to give a legitimate answer this time. He really needed to step up his game if they were to figure this out before their lives were really in danger. Though the act of actively pursuing this investigation might in of itself be cause for caution. Oh well. She didn't have time to dwell on that now. It would just give her anxiety and let her fall through with their plan. And she fully intended to go all the way.

He shrugged. "I would assume somewhere along the walls. Look for a book that seems fake or out of place. Also check the floors, there might be marks on it from where the bookshelf would slide out if it does." Skye told the girl before beginning to inspect the nearest bookshelf, keeping an eye on her from the corner of his eye.

She nodded and turned to the bookshelves, not sure what she was even looking for. Going to the section near the wall, she started looking for books that seemed out of place or something. She pulled on a few select books, ones that seemed obscure or vaguely out of place. But she wasn't really sure of what she was looking for in the first place. Hopefully it would only be a matter of time before this either worked out or proved fruitless. Either way she was going to blame Skye if they failed. It was his idea! Though it wasn't a bad one so maybe she shouldn't be too quick to blame. God he was annoying. She just continued going off random trains of thought as she kept pulling on books.

As Skye and Solbi started poking around the library for some odd reason they'd find nothing out of the ordinary whatsoever, at-least at first glance. The school itself had hundreds of hidden passages, mostly used to aid in the abduction of students. There was of course, several in each dorm building..but that 's best left to describe at a later time. Skye's suggestion of there being scuff marks on the ground from the bookcase sliding would be valid, had the bookcase containing a hidden passage operated in such a way.

If one looked closely they could see the bookcase were actually suspended off the ground, only very slightly so as to prevent it scraping the floor. It wasn't noticeable in the least, well unless you dove to the floor carefully scrutinizing the placement of every single bookcase in the room. Nevertheless Solbi's searching would soon prove to be beneficial. After what was probably thirty or so books the only one she pulled that wasn't out of place or random clicked softly and the bookcase did the classic recession into the wall before moving to the side, revealing a doorway leading down a pitchblack set of stairs.

There seemed to be no light whatsoever, there might not even be any stairs beyond the first few visible from the light in the room. Was it a trap, or an actual passage?

Skye snapped towards the sound and rushed over to the girl's side. "Nice find, princess. Now, it seems a bit dark in there, not a huge issue for me." He said, taking her hand. "So stay close, alright?" One perk of controlling the darkness was the ability to see through it.

The sudden shift in the bookcase startled her, and she 'jumped' back in reflex. But this was interesting. She thought about saying something about him taking her hand, but she figured it was better to just not question it. Instead, she just let him take her without question. At this point, she really just had to trust him. After all, she might need to trust him with her life in the near future. Though she hoped that it wouldn't come to that... As for the now, she made sure to stay as close to him as possible. She had no idea what was going on at all, and he did for some reason. Best not to question it.

Skye slowly stepped inside the passage, his footsteps seemingly nonexistant. Turning to the girl, he leaned in. "Heel, toe. Try to keep your voice quiet, preferably not used at all until I say so, who knows what could be down here." He whispered. He could see the bottom of the staircase a ways down, meaning one misplaced step and someone would wind up with something broken. His ears were on high alert, listening for any sort of footstep in the silence of the stairwell.

Considering she literally floated all the time, she had no problem keeping her 'footsteps' quiet. She was about to reject his notion of 'keeping her voice quiet', but she figured he was probably right. Not that she was going to admit that. Though his warnings were starting to make her unsure of herself. 'Who knows what could be down there.' The thought rang through her mind. Did she really want to do this? Well considering she couldn't see a thing and she was basically bound to whatever Skye was doing, she had no choice. She scooted in further closer to him. But not out of fear. It was totally out of convenience. Yeah.

Unconsciously, he intertwined his fingers with hers as he moved on, his foot leaving the last step noiselessly. Hearing a noise, Skye quickly pulled the girl close to him and pressed his back against a wall before covering himself and the girl with shadows. He looked up the stairwell to see the light fade away as the bookshelf slid back into place.

She felt a chill down her spine as they went, still unsure of where they were even going. Then she felt him do something weird with his hand, then realized that he was holding her hand apparently for other reasons than to guide her. Not like she was going to complain. Suddenly, and without warning, she jerked with him, finding herself weirdly pressed against his body. "'Tis not the time to make thy move," she hissed in a whisper, trying to follow rule number two. Then the hall became completely dark, and she suddenly had no complaints about his move. "Actually, never thee mind. This is fine," she said with renewed angst. This was getting 2spoopy4her.

He smirked in the darkness. Skye wasn't sure if she could see him or not, but now was the perfect time for teasing. "Oh? So you want me to make a move?" He whispered, his hands going from wrapped around her to resting on her waist.

She blushed, not like it mattered. "W-what?? 'Tis not the time for this!" she scolded. She had no idea where she was or what was going on, so she didn't try to go anywhere. But she really just wanted to get a move on. They had a creepy stairway to investigate! "'Tis the time to investigate the creepy passage, not my body, thou moron," she continued, hoping he would get the hint and move on already. There could be very little time, and here he was goofing off! The nerve!

She grunted, but didn't say anything. Well at least they were moving finally. As they continued down the weird hall, shew had to wonder where they were or haw far they'd gone. Though she had no idea because she didn't have any concept of spatial awareness at the moment. All she knew was that there were walls somewhere, a floor below her, and Skye leading her. She huffed, indignant that she was dependent on Skye, at least for the moment. So she was stuck with him and his smug attitude for a while. Great.

Skye slowed to a stop. If front of him was a split hallway. He let out a heavy sigh and looked down each path, seeing nothing in each one. "Dammit..." He muttered. "There's a split path and they go on further than I can see. Any ideas?" He asked.

"How should I know?? Just takest one and if it goeth nowhere we canst always just come back," she suggested, though a little taken aback. She hadn't really expected for him to ask of her opinion since, well, she had no idea what was going on in the first place. A strange sound echoed through the hall from an unidentifiable source, sending a shudder down her spine. She squeezed his hand tighter and move a little closer to him, you know, for protection!

He smiled as she squeezed his hand and, in response, squeezed back. "Before we continue on, I want to ask you something... What do you really feel about me?" He asked, turning around while still holding onto her hand. "There's nobody here but ne and you so you an be honest with me, alright?"

"W-what? 'Tis not appropriate for the situation to jest like this!" she scolded, though her mind was still preoccupied by the noise. Well that could have been anything! And it was rather unsettling that she still couldn't see. What if it came after her? What would she do? Well she would probably dimension hop. But still! The danger remained just the same. Now it would be great if they just got a move on, but she had little to no power in determining when they moved forward. She felt like she was blind or something.

He sighed and shook his head. "You'll be fine, I promise. I'm here to protect you." He pulled her into his arms again and pushed against the wall, covering himself and her with shadows again. "There." He whispered. "Now will you answer my question?"

She didn't know what was going on, so she panicked a little on the inside from his abrupt movements. But she only resisted a little and that was out of her panic. "T-this is nonsense! We hath a mission to attend to!" she objected, still listening for whatever that sound was. If it was dangerous, it could be sneaking up on them and they wouldn't even know it! While he was here babbling on about 'feelings', she was trying to save their butts! Well someone had to be the mature one here.

Skye released her from the embrace and began to guide her once again, choosing the path to the right. Whether it was correct or not, he would find out soon enough. He was sure of that
