Land of the Gears- Out of Character Chat

It's still there as an interest check, but I have a tendency to go overboard with self advertising my RP....

If you did I thought there would more people. Just make sure to post in it everyday to keep it in the public eye. How do you go overboard?

I have poor time management in terms of what I should/shouldn't do to advertise is probably a better way to phrase it. (IE: Bumping about six times a day, but then the next day I don't.)

I was going to post regardless as there was a couple of people who were interested and I should check if they are still wanting in.

To be honest, this is going better than it did on another site. The other site only had two people participate.

This is my first time on an RP site. I'm not sure how trends proceed. Still there are so many people on this site.

This is my first RP dedicated site, I used to RP on about twelve other sites before this....

Only third I ever wanted to bring personal stories to, this being the best of the bunch.

I heard this was one site that was seemingly was more accepting of ideas. Most other sites that have forum RP tend to stick to a central idea, my last one was stuck on anime "Kawaii" genres. I did get some interest, but nothing too serious. I started to think about leaving after a while, then I got two members.

Then one of the two members actually left, then the last one left the site in general. Then I heard the name of the site said again when asking about if she wanted to RP and I came here from the fact I heard it before. (I actually got a message a couple days ago from the person who left to RP here. It's funny as it was through looking through the threads and seeing Land of the Gears.)

Hmm I do enjoy this site for its variety so far. There is so much around and if something isn't there I can create it. It seems in your case that you have connections here already along with prior experience. It is easy to see why this site is growing up. Do you plan to RP with you old friend again?

I'm back from my walk and am gonna hop in here.

Yeah like back when I joined in 2012 there were a ton of people but now there's been an explosion of members.

I have no idea if I will be RPing with her. (The person from the other site.)

She said that she was possibly going to rejoin this one here.

This site has quite a bit of consistent members, which is more important than those that just make an account and then leave.

Update Tab has been added, will be using it to keep the story information and possible worldly information as it is formed. It will also include other updates that are technically outside RP.

@Woofers296 (Switching it here to keep the talk out of the character creation forum.)

Occupations and trades can be anything, even outside of "practical." (IE: Not miners or factory workers. Musical performers of cabaret clubs, which the music of this era is more akin to swing and such so the instruments are varied and most performers are talented. Book writers and printers, with printing presses being a thing for some time. There is quite some possibly with your options.) Then you can even have characters that deal with nobility or the palace itself, this can either be the nobles on their own or the guards....

Assisting in the stories relies more on the subject matter of the stories, as it will change after some time.

*Check rumors for list on something new relating to the current story.*

I have no problem with how long it takes for posts so long as you plan on sticking around to make it even happen.

It's also good to know that there is a possibility of another person.

*Check first post if you want information about where characters are currently located. I keep it updated as much as possible.*

@ashlynn

She's in the right spot, she was just replying to my earlier post. She's at a specific tavern in The Forge.

I do, however, have a question for you as according to your last post.

What crimes is she involved with to merit her getting a possible death sentence? I can't take over a guard as an NPC without somewhat having an idea with her criminal history if they just all of the sudden did this.

She's a general street urchin so her crimes have piled up over the years, I can change it if you want, however she did accidentaly murder someone (sorry if that is cliche) over money one time so I assumed that would have the death penalty. Also I know the tavern you're talking about, sorry for the mixup.

If the guards know, then maybe depending on how accidental it is. It doesn't seem like the crimes are that severe, even the murder depending on the situation. Think of Waterfront as a place with not enough guards to really care of thievery. The worse they'd do if they know your past is throw you into a jail or keep you on close leash.

This world is inspired by Wild West/Victorian Era law. Most people find it easier to solve problems by a show of skill, and at times who can kill the other faster. Waterfront is closer to the Wild West-style of Steampunk, if you were to compare the people to anything.

(I don't see how it's cliche, It's more cliche that she's a factory worker than anything.)

You may want to add this all to her history, as that's where is information is supposed to go.

Also whoops, yeah Zia is in The Forge. I also don't know why I included that she knew what the tavern's name was, considering she can't read. She can write basic swear words, only because she used to send rude telegrams to people she didn't know.
