❛ it's only love, nobody dies ❜

Cole knew that Ruby would prefer to keep their hook-ups a secret, but to be honest, Cole didn't care if people knew. She was a beautiful girl, strong and independent, and he liked her. But while he wouldn't go running around with a sign that said I'M SLEEPING WITH RUBY ZABIELSKI, he wasn't planning on completely ignoring her in public, either. In fact, he quite liked pushing her buttons and making her possibly uncomfortable, seeing how far he could take things.
He flashed a grin at his two new seat buddies, though his eyes were definitely drawn to Ruby. Her facial expression read 'go away', but her eyes and her smile said otherwise, and he couldn't help but chuckle as he glanced out towards the field. Her voice drew his attention back to her, and he laughed again. “Pleeeeease, don’t pretend you understand the game.”
"I'm not pretending." He shrugged. "I may not be a football player but I at least get what's going on." He felt his phone vibrate in his pocket a moment later, and he was going to ignore it until he saw Ruby's pointed look. But even that took his pot-riddled brain a moment to get. "Ohhhhhhh." He looked down, pulling his phone from his pocket, taking too long to look at the text.
“Meet me behind the bleachers in 20."
He blinked a few times, then shrugged and locked the device again, sliding it back where he came from. Leaning forward, he spoke to Lin. "Good luck with that, man." He was about to stand when Ali made her appearance, taking a seat behind them. He nodded at her in greeting, then stood and started making his way back up to where his friends were, spotting a blunt in Nico's hands.
"I knew someone had smoke." He took the blunt happily, taking two deep drags before passing it on. And then he was up again, grinning as he made his way down the bleachers, and then around them to the underneath area, where he plopped down on the ground. "I shoulda stole his blunt."
