Fandom Edge of the Empire and the Age of Rebellion

Pash woke up to find himself in the speeder, heading back towards port, Renci was looking at him with an odd expression, but his muscles seemed to be in perfect condition. He checked over himself and the others, and apart from Dovahkins hand everyone was working well. Arlak had taken the leader's head and placed it in a bag while Ardana had found herself able to pilot the speeder. The purple Twi'lek gave him pause, but considering the number of crazy things that happened every day to this crew it really wasnt much of a surprise that they had picked up a straggler. Back in port they had a few words with Renci as to intended drop off and proceeded to start the engines up, heading for the Yavin system.

Pash was troubled, Ardana wouldnt speak to him, and the rest of the crew seemed off

Maybe joining the rebels wouldnt be so bad after all, he went to speak to Renci....

She sat in the crew quarters the other Twi'lek beside her, as she tended to Dovakhins broken arm. She was running low on Bacta patches but she applied one of the last over the broken area, using a metal spoke as a splint. She bound it in silence the wookie also seeming subdued. Once she had his arm sorted and in a sling the pair of Twi'leks moved through the ship together. Gida, who had been the Trandoshan leaders Mistress had asked whether she could fly with them to Yavin, there was nothing left here for her and she wanted to see what the rebellion was all about. Ardana had agreed, the two got on well and it was nice to have someone to talk to. They say together in the cockpit, talking in the twi'leks silent language, using their lekku to communicate but occasionally they would laugh out loud at some unheard joke. Yavin was not far and it only took a short time to reach the planet. Renci messaged down and they were given clearance to land. They all left the ship and were greeted by a group of rebels.

Pash sat in the rebel base, thinking, he had been there for 2 hours, the had gotten some nice gear out of this job and a good number of credits, but it was time to go back, or stay. Time to make his choice.

He met with Renci and the other rebels, he had made his desicion.

"You know i could really do a lot for this movement, but here is all i can do" He handed them a small datastick with a load of technical readouts and tactics, "These are how and why the empire uses such tactics, they are up to date and good, i cant stay, not now, i have other jobs to do"

"We knew you would say that, and that is why we got you this" They showed him his sword, and then held it to the light, as it fell across, a small emblem glittered

"Show this to any of us, and we will help if we can"

"Thank you" Bowing, Pash returned to the ship

Ardana and Gida hugged, a smile on both of their faces.

"We will meet again i'm sure." The purple hued Twi'lek said and Ardana nodded. She vanished in to the rebel base, leaving Ardana alone at the base of the ships ramp. Pash and the others had been wished off on a tour of their operations but she wasn't interested, although they were accommodating and kind. She did manage to acquire some new medical supplies and she got Dovakhins arm looked at properly. But once she had restocked her med kit she returned to the ship and perched in her chair. Waiting for the others.

Pash contacted Muraga, telling them they were on her way, then shut the cockpit door.

"Ardana, do you have a second? Renci was an employer, and you looked at her as if she was scum! It isnt on!"

Ardana had set the ship back on route to Vanqor when Pash joined her. He shut the door behind him which was unusual and as he started talking she felt the anger rising in her once more. She was on her feet facing him in seconds, anger clear on her face.

"She was a liar. She lied from the beginning and people got hurt because of it." She retorted.

"She has every right to conceal who she works for, you think people re tolerant of rebels? She could have thought we would have handed her in, but that isnt why youre angry, i dont know what it is, but it isnt good and I think youd have been happier if id stayed on that moon"

He walked off, furious with the galaxy, Dovahkin attempted to joke with him and received a punch to the face. Arlak tried to trip him up and receieved and icy glare. It was not Pash's day.

"Stop defending her! Would you still be defending her if one of us had died?" She snapped back. "Typical human, with double standards. You jump to help a pretty human woman without a second thought. If she'd been a non-human you wouldn't have wanted to know." She retorted to his back as he began to walk away. She followed him across the cockpit and slammed the door behind him, the noise echoing through the ship. She pressed her back against the door and slid down to the floor where she burst in to tears. It was so unlike her to be like this but everything had piled up on her and she broke down.

"Defend her? Human? Maybe I should...." No, he wasnt going to tell that story, not to her anyway.

It was 5 years ago, Pash was young and went by a different name, youngest captain of his legion, he had lead assaults on rebel held strongholds and performed assassionations. He looked perfect in that white armour.

He had aced the acadamy, top marks in all subjects and praised well on the ranges. His "Softness" was well hidden and he particularly liked to chew out bullies who thought picking on soldiers was good for them. He was fair, a little harsh but no more so than he was on himself, it was at the recon of his latest op he snapped.

"Okay Sir, nothing coming in or out at the moment, i think you can move in"

Pash, in plain clothes now moved closer to the building, ducking into an alleyway and sneaking around the corner. Picking up his thermal scanner he looked through the wall into the rebel stronghold.

"Just warming up now Lt. Jetak, sending images"

Children, women and children, non humans all of them, Twi'leks, toydarians, wookies, you name it they were in the building.

"We have to report this to command"

"They can see this too Captain, they still are giving us the green light, paging the team now"

"Like hell you are! You touch that button and I'll court martial you so fast you wont hit the sides"

"CAPTAIN TARKIN, Begin this operation at once!" It was his father, Grand Moff Tarkin, so he had seen that he could oversee this operation.

"Command, I cannot go through with this, there are women and children inside"

"Tarkin I order you to"

"Can it command, if you want to do this, do this without me" Pash put down his scanner and unbuttoned his holster, drawing his personalised cut-down disruptor rifle from under his shirt

"You better hope you know what youre doing, youre a scout trooper, not some soldier who can ask questions Tarkin"

"I know Father, I know"

"Team Omicron this is command, Captain Tarkin has been declared a traitor to the empire, proceed to capture after the primary target has been destroyed"

That was why Pash hated Ardana at that point in time, because she thought he treated her as less. When she meant more than anything

She sat huddled up on the floor for a long while, emotional exhaustion washing over her. She moved back to her crate and lay in thought. Why had her heart sunk when she saw the two together, she didn't care, he was human like all of those who had held her captive for all of her life. So why couldn't she stop crying? She wished he hadn't stormed off that they had fully cleared the air, but neither were good at arguing with the other and like so many things it was going to go unresolved.

She slept restlessly, dreaming of the bio-men, only it was Pash in those suits, him who drove the knife in to her gut. She was glad to reach Vanqor though knowing she was going to be facing the hutt once again made her nervous. Entry to the Hutts complex was easy now, the security droids recognised them and allowed them to pass. Steeling herself Ardana moved in to the room, walking gracefully towards the Hutt, her hips swinging elegently.

"Your excellency." She said with a curtsy. Arlak as if on que emptied the bag, the head of the trandoshan bandit roling out on to the floor. "A gift. As a show of loyalty to you." The hutt laughed and thanked them, wishing them well on their journey. They left the halls and moved back in to the streets of Vanqor. "What now?" She asked looking between the crew, avoiding Pash's eyes.

"Im not sure, wait Muraga is calling us back"

Walking back into the palace they spot the Hutt, hoping that another job might be available Pash steps up

"My Lord, what would you have us do?"

The Hutt starts in huttese, droid translating

"Unfortunatly there has been a change of plan, i hope you realise this is nothing personal"

Stormtroopers file out, hundreds of them, rifles trained on the crew, hands were raised, and Pash knew he would be blamed for this one

She followed reluctantly, she'd had enough of Hutts for a life time but Pash led them back in. She was fluent in Huttese so realised what was happening before the droid had even finished translating.

"No." She said panicking and spinning to face the troopers. There were too many and in moments the crew were in binders once more. She didn't have the energy to struggle, and she allowed herself to be led easily away, dejection filling her features. Once again the Empire had control over them.

This was less rough than their last capture, escorted onto their ship they flew up to a now very visible Imperial Star destroyer, Ardana piloting at almost gunpoint the entire way. On their arrival there was a large security detail flanking a Fleet Captain, obviously it was for work rather than capture.

"I have a job for you" The captain drawled in her annoying Coruscant accent "There are a group of troopers and men who took one of our ships, a small cruiser, and are calling themselves the Knights of Good"

"And?"

"Youll take a better tone with me, I did not want you for this mission but the higher comman did, if you like we can make a stop off on Kessel and leave you there, maybe even just dup you out in space right here and now"

"Okay so you want us to kill them?"

"If you have to, but we want the Captain and First Officer alive and the ship intact, so go in and take out their hyperdrive, these EMP grenades may help, take what you want from our stores but not too much, I will be checking"

He looked to Ardana, but was met with silence

"Fine, give me a minute please" and walked off to discuss things

She flew the ship under more pressure than ever before, feeling the blaster at the back of her neck. She felt as though she held her breath the whole way there, her heart hammering in her chest. They were bought before an imperial captain who said that they had a job, she hated working for the empire but once again it was that or Kessel. She looked around the crew who seemed as happy as she was with the whole situation but as Pash gathered them up to discuss she realised they really had no choice. Arlak nudged her with his elbow, promp

ting her to speak, where she had been determined to stay quiet.

"Lets just do it. Get it done quickly and then go and lay low for a bit. Let all this Hutt/empire business blow over." She suggested.

"Fine, we will do it, but we need a hyperspace beacon to get you there, a breaching charge and a few EMP grenades for when we arrive"

"Done"

"And after this, our records? gone, ALL of them"

"Done"

"Then we have a deal, lets get to that armory"

Loading up Ardana looked less than happy but Pash was happy to see efficiency at work, slowly walking along the racks of weapons he picked a few up to check the weight, not changing much since he was last in one of these. His arms fell to the breachin charge, useful for getting through the doors or even the hyperdrive core if need be. The EMP grenades were just an extra, when his hands found some glop grenades, only experimental when Pash had been a trooper, these could be very useful.......

She checked all her power packs, and once happy holstered her blaster. She wasn't sure what to expect from these Knights of humnities glory, but she suspected it wouldn't be easy. She wanted to get away from here, but she knew there was no point in running away, that would just paint an even bigger target over their heads. She was clearly uneasy and paced the armory as the others collected grenades and breach charges, eyes flicking between the crew and the door.

"Can we go and get on with this?" She murmered stopping by the door and looking back in at them. She didn't relax until they were back on the ship, and even then she remained silent and distant.

"Lets go then" Pash walked to the ship, climbing inside, he did not like this empire working, he wish he had joined up with the rebels. He sat down as the began the slow journey to the system, hyperspace notwithstanding. He wondered if he should visit Ardana but instead thought of his time in the legions, and how much he would kill to end the war. Maybe that was the problem though, how far people would go? There were rumours that the empire had a plan to end the war, but now was not the time to think about it.

"Ardana? Want some Caf?"

She had been sat, folded in on herself, legs pulled in to her chest. She looked up at the footsteps that brought Pash in to the room. He offered caff and she accepted wilingly trying to force a smile. Her head still rested on her knees, arms looped around them, she knew she had to say something to him. Something to break the tension but she didn't know how, or what to say. She accepted the Caff, cradling the hot mug between her palms.

"look, about earlier, im sorry, i didnt mean to look like a defended her because she was human, i did it because i thought you enjoyed working, it was honest work and the rebellion are good people, i havent been good the whole time ive been alive, so i owe it to the galaxy to help" He looked at those big eyes, he wasnt going to kiss her he knew she didnt want that. It was better than nothing but he needed to get it out. Maybe if he got strong enough.

She shook her head. "No I was out of line. I knew It wasn't local trouble from the moment she sowed up but I stilled tagged along anyway. There was no need to be rude to her." She admitted, dipping her head. She'd thought about it alot, the night they had argued and she had broken down.

"I'm glad you didn't join the rebellion." She said honestly, "And you saved me. Thats pretty good." She said her eyes briefly meeting his.

Well then, he was glad she had at least forgiven him. It reminded him more of the mission he had run away from, all those years ago....

"COME BACK TARKIN" The radio called, crackling even as he threw it away, he turned, sending shots wildly over his head, this mission had been illegal from the beginning and if security found them itd be the mines for each of them.

"God damnit" Gangers had joined in, some seeing his fancy clothing as containing as many credits as he actually did have, he dropped a few, burning them to ash when others joined, the rifle he was carrying becoming more valuable than anything they owned, he just hoped the non humans were safe.

"As long as youre okay Ardana, its all i care about right now" he said, then stiffening, he turned and walked off

He seemed to space out for a little while before he spoke again and she put her caff down, facing him now. She gave a soft smile at his comment, it ment a lot to hear him say that and she got to her feet. He began to walk away and she moved after him. "Pash?" She said his name softly, and without waiting for him to turn she put her arms around his form. Holding him for a short moment, before stepping back and looking embarassed. "Please don't go, and leave me alone with these idiots." she said mostly joking.

"Leave you? Never" He said, turning and embracing her, almost crushing her slender form inside his arms. "I could never, so never think of it"

He released her, smile on his face, turned and went to meditate, it was a good day again, happy and in love he settled into position. It was then he saw the Chiss.

"WHO ARE YOU??!!" he shouted, pistol to her chin

"Im sorry, i stowed away, i can help i promise" she replied softly

Pash checked her for weapons and then called the others, it was time for another talk.

She relaxed against him as he embraced her, the nervous shakes she had begun to develop subsiding as he held her against him. She watched him go, feeling a lot better, only to hear his voice over the radiomoments later.

"A stowaway. But why?" She quizzed looking at the young Chiss girl. The others joined them, groggy from being woken up. The wookie looking more of a mess than usual.

"No idea, im not inclined to let her stay, but for now she can make herself useful I guess? She earns her place she can keep it same as you or I"

The girl shuffled nervously before bowing

"Sirs and lady I am sorry if I offended, I do mean to work, Its just you were with the Empire and...."

"With the Empire? Dont get us wrong we work for a lot of people, but we have no love for those scum, long time since they were the good guys"

"So what is this place, what do you do?"

"Whatever really, we arnt good, arnt bad, but lets just say the law arnt our friends"
