Fandom Edge of the Empire and the Age of Rebellion

"Of course we shall" Pash extended an arm, not sure if she would take it, but hopeful. It was slowly working towards sunset, the red tinged light complimenting the Lekku on Ardana's head. The place was starting to fill up, hundreds walking towards the palace, their invites are checked, weapons checked, odd looks are shown when another bounty hunter is caught sneaking a disruptor in, not good form.

"So anyone for a drink?" Pash enquired, looking around to check the competition, many looked very good at their job, then he noticed someone was talking to Ardana, not talking, flirting.

She accepted Pash's arm but released it before they were in sight of their destination. It would not be deemed fit for the character she intended to play to be linking arms with him. She handed the invitations to the man at the door. The ball set in one of the biggest ships she had ever seen and security was tight. It was the first night she had left without her vibroknife.

"And whom are you?" The man at the door asked, looking at them through narrowed eyes. She felt the others shift behind her and she raised a hand to quieten them.

"I am Aral'idira, these are my bodyguards. I was invited here by Muraga" She handed him the invites and with many apologies he let them pass. She decided a fake name was safest for now, she was rather recognizable but the name would be most likely to give her away. She moved in to the room, it was filled with people all dressed beautifully but eyes turned to her as she moved. She opted for the bar first requesting an alderan wine, the expensive drink not something she got often and it hinted to the Hutt wanting to show off his power and wealth. It was there that she was approached by a man, dressed in an expensive looking suit, with the bluest eyes she had ever seen.

"M'lady you have lightened up this party." He said with a boyish grin, taking her hand and kissing the back of it. She smiled back, she was not used to such flattery. "Allow me to buy you a drink?" She agreed and the two began to talk, smiling and laughing. She spun her web of lies, creating the character she was supposed to be, and he agreed he would look out for her team in the competition the next day.

*crrack* The glass cracked and shattered in Pash's hand, causing his hand to be ruined. He knew she was playing a part, but she have to play it so well? That man was going to die, maybe an ally untill they had the Gundark but after that, they were fair game. Hastily his hand was patched up lest it ruin the party and it healed quickly underneath the bacta. He got another drink and started to mingle, even managed to find a lovely Devaronian to dance with for a while, but it felt empty somehow. Luckily it wasnt long before he got the chance to speak to Ardana alone. Offering a hand he whispered

"May i have this dance?"

She joked and laughed, drinking and dancing, and actually quite enjoying herself. He had to leave, he said that as much as he would have loved to spend the whole night with her he was expected to be sociable. He kissed her on the cheek as he left and she bid him farewell. She took the opportunity to thank their host, biting the bullet and moving towards the Hutt who lazed at one end of the hall. She gave a low curtsy, something Borvo had always loved, and it seemed to please Muraga too.

"A splendid party My lord." She said with a fake smile. "Your invite was very kind." He laughed and smirked retorting in huttese that it would have been a crime to not invite her. She thanked him again and returned to the crowd, where she found Pash. She smiled at him as he offered his hand, asking to dance. But her smile quickly faded.

"I can't, not here." She wanted to accept, it pained her to say no. But she would be dancing with a servant, and that wouldn't look good to the high and mighty around them. She wished they could just be themselves but that couldn't be. She moved past him, walking along the side of the dance floor, when she caught a movement from the corner of her eye. She glanced around, seeing a men vanish suspiciously down a side corridor and she moved to investigate.

She thought she was going mad, maybe she had had too much to drink. But she was certain, and as she came face to face with him she knew she wasn't imagining it. Another of the bio men the ones that had stabbed her. She froze up, she couldn't move as his fist came towards her, impacting with her stomach. She was pushed back, slamming in to the wall, and when she had regained her senses he had vanished once again. What the hell was going on here? She pulled herself together, pain rippling through her stomach and returned to the party.

Well that made sense, maybe he could dance with her later, Pash walked around to stand with the other hired help, listening to which teams would do best. Apparently the Hutt himself had two teams, both with high odds to win. His group, not being seeded at all had low odds, but a quick chat soon revealed there were one or two people who had bet large sums, as outsiders tend to have done by desperate men. It was then he spotted Arlak drunk as a bantha on a hot day, while Ardana coming in with a pained expression. It was time to leave, grabbing Ardana by the arm and Arlak over his shoulder he left the party, trying hard not to kill the human who had talked to Ardana as he flashed her a smile.

A few people looked in their direction as he grabbed her arm and she slapped his hand away, annoyed at how hard he was making it to stay in character. Once walking without his hand on her she waved goodbye to the man who had introduced himself as Jace. But once they were outside she relaxed. She was a little tipsy the high quality wine had gone to her head but she didn't let it show. She had looked more relaxed but now she looked perplexed.

"Pash. Do you think those Bio-men still pose a threat to us?" She asked quietly. Smiling fondly as Arlak snored.

"Not while im around Ardana, i think one may have followed us here, but he wont trouble us if he knows whats good for him"

Pash walked back to the ship, not sure if they were followed, and had a good nights sleep, he wasnt sure what the next day would bring. At around midnight he woke, meditated, finally readjusted the sights on his rifle and then fell asleep again, dreaming of what was and what could have been. Maybe if he hadnt run away, maybe she would still be whole........

"No need to think, there is definitely at least on here. I saw him." She said nervously. Returning to the cockpit she changed from her dress in to the over large shirt that was comfortable for her to sleep in and curled up on top of the crate again. Once more her dreams were plagued by the Bio-men, but there were pleasant dreams there too, dreams of dancing. She wondered if they were memories of the night just gone, only it wasn't the blond haired blue eyes Jace she was dancing with but Pash. She awoke well rested, for once and proceeded to use the refresher station and to make herself a caff. She heard the others begin to stir and wondered whether Trandoshans could get hangovers. But Arlak seemed merrier than ever, his stump of a tail wagging enthusiastically.

"Lets go down to the start line shall we?" She said reading through the papers they had been issued finding their team number and start position.

Their speeder from Bespin was waiting, but Ardana wanted no part in the hunt, so she was to be left behind. A Pash was loading up the despicable human came over "Pash is it?"

"Yes? and you are?"

"Ah i am Jace i hear we are working together today, at least your lovely lady informed me"

"Ah yes" Pash took on a sickening grin as he planned the multitude of ways he planned to kill this foolish upstart, probably a knife to the gut, Ardana's if he could. "Which speeder are you?"

"Over there, the blue?" pointing to a group of Weequay and a Sullustan

"Ah that makes sense, who do we watch out for" Pash already knew, but as it was pointed out he noticed 2 speeders rather than the one he was expecting, one was a dull green and red, obviously camoflaged with heavily armed occupants, the other was a sunburst yellow with enough weaponary to destroy a small starship if it needed to, luckily Pash didnt need them to outpace with his speeder which he had named "The Eclipses shadow" Partly due to the blackening on the front from the warning shot from the Bespin security forces.

Suddenly the announcement started.

"RIGHT, HUNTERS, INTO YOUR SPEEDERS, ONCE YOU ARE 50m FROM THIS LINE THERE ARE NO RULES, BUT NO CHEATING" well worded indeed.

So that was it, they were off!

She joined them down at the starting line, but there was no way she would have any part in this. Which was just as well as many of the people from last nights party were here and it wouldn't be deemed fit for a lady to be hunting. As she was walking to join the others she saw Jace talking to them, and he turned away walking towards her.

"May the best man or woman win." He said placing a kiss on the back of her hand.

"I plan to." She said with a grin. She covered the rest of the distance to the crews speeder. Arlak could barely sit still, and Jayne wasn't much better. She placed a hand on Pash's lower back, attracting his attention. "Be careful and look after them." She gestured to the others with a smile. Knowing they would be fine but still worrying a little anyway. And then they were gone, already a few speeders had been destroyed in the fray, fireballing towards the ground. But in a under a minute all of the surviving speeders had vanished in to the tree line.

Turns out Pash didnt have to deal with Jace

"HEY, WHAT ARE YOU DOING, ARGHHHH" was all he heard over the comlink as the speeder went up in a ball of flames. Luckily Pash was slightly more skilled and avoided m0st of the drivers who were trying to kill him, when he saw the champion speeders heading off into the distance.

He followed, keeping a good distance behind them as they left the biggest group and headed into a big canyon and sped up. Managing t barely miss half the obstacles and scraping the other half Pash caught them as they entered a cave, slowing down they left the speeder and followed them in. After a few hundred metres they found the cave opening, in the cave was the two teams, a lot of crates, probably with the spice inside, a huge crate with a Gundark inside, old and scared and

Stormtroopers.....

"Ardana, we have a problem"

"Ardana, we have a problem." She jumped up from where she had been sitting.

"Pash whats wrong?" She responded quickly, although barely waiting for an answer she had already begun to run to find the authorities. She found the Vanqor security forces and demanded their help, filled them in on what Pash had told her and demanded that they send a squad of men to help. They settled on a two man team and herself and they hurried to a speeder. Only once they had got a distance towards the co-ordinates she had given him did she realize something was wrong. The co-pilot rounded on her, his blaster leveled at her.

"Give me your blaster. Hands where I can see them." She rolled her eyes and cast her blaster aside, raising her hands in surrender.

"Of course all you government types are under the thumb." She mocked. He threatened to shoot her if she carried on and for the rest of the journey kept her firmly in his sights.

They pulled in to the cavern in the midst of a firefight. It was the distraction she needed. She drew her vibroknife and dived, slitting the throat of the guard, and as he lay dying in a pool of his own blood she grabbed the pilot too, knife to his throat. Her eyes sought out her crew and finding them she relaxed just a touch, enough to realize how screwed they were.

Arlak had possibly the stupidist yet most brilliant idea Pash had heard for a long time, and they spent a few minutes setting up as Arlak endlessly adjusted his sights to make the best shot of his career. Pash loaded a new grenade in and sighted on the troopers, fingers slowly curling on the trigger before quick thinking made him activate the beacon to bring the sector ranger and hopefully backup if this all went wrong.

The shot was perfect, a quick blaster bolt hit the lock on the cage, opening it. Even more perfect was both the Stormtroopers and thugs thought the shot had been caused by the other party. A swarm of blasterfire started between the parties meaning Pash and the others could sit back and relax as they were torn apart by the monstrous Gundark. Pash and Arlak, with a few shots from Jayne helpfully shot some of the others before a 4th party showed up, it was another three of the muscled men, these ones in some sort of crude armour. Unfortunatly they had not considered the lumbering Gundark as it rolled over them before turning and facing the crew of the Randy Gammorean.

"Well Arlak, did we think this bit through? Hit the stun mode and take it down" Blue shots rippled through the tunnels as between them they brought the beast down. Pash looking up to see Ardana fly back in on a speeder, blood dripping down her, not her colour blood though, before Pash realised it probably belonged to the vehicles other occupant.

"Dont worry Ardana we have backup, not that we need it" Seeing the carnarge around, Pash prepped some rope for the Gundark.

She was hardly needed but she pulled her speeder alongside the others, the bodies of the two men who had held her captive thrown in the back, blood staining the seats.

"Did you call the Ranger in?" She asked cleaning the blood from her arms. Her question was answered by the arrival of a whole squadron of soldiers, stormtroopers in glittering white laminate. She dropped her blaster and looked for the others to do the same. reluctantly weapons were lowered and the sector ranger stepped forward with a smug look on his face. It was then that Ardana knew they had been double crossed. "We did what you asked, now leave us be." She demanded knowing it was in vain.

"Oh Miss Tarkona if only things were that easy. Arrest them." The troopers moved in and slapped the binders on, she struggled. She hated binders and restraints and it took two troopers to restrain her, before she was eventually sedated.

She awoke alone, in a cell memory fuzzy. They were in trouble now.

Pash was distrught, not only was the person arresting him under the command of the sector ranger, but it was Jetak

"I dont know what you did this time buddy, but I cant help you this time, the squad are the ones arresting so please dont make a scene"

Damnit, he couldn't fight them, but he saw that they recognised him, hands were slack, he eyed them up, forcing them to stand to attention, he didnt have their command but damn if he did not have their respect. He was hit over the back of the head and saw Ardana being sedated, at least they were gentle with her.

Waking up in a small cell almost naked but for his underclothes he surveyed his surroundings. Great, another cell.

She shrieked and hammered on the walls, punching and kicking. She hated being confined but what was worse than that was the fact she was entirely alone, with no idea if her crew were still alive. They had taken everything from her, belt, boots. Her hands jumped to her throat, her necklace was gone too. She screamed again and once more began slamming herself against the walls.

She dropped to her knees a short while later, exhaustion forcing her to the floor. She had seen someone look in on her, but they just peered through the slit in the door before slamming it closed again. She moved to the low cot that had been put in to one corner of the cell and lay down. She could feel vibration throughout the cell that told her they were on a moving ship, but that was all she could determine.

Time passed, the only way she had of measuring it was when her food was pushed through the door on a tray. She must have been there for days, and hope had begun to leave her. Thats when the message arrived.

Pash was so used to a small cell he had worked out his own system for keeping track of time, days passed but mostly was without movement, the acceleration of the ship out system. It wasnt long before his thoughts drifted to the others, he was sure he could hear Ardana in the next cell. He would call out to her but it was useless. He felt it stopping and hoped she was okay, he cared for her deeply and did not want her to be too affected by this. He hoped he wouldnt have to but he would give his life for that little one. He heard a set of footprints down the hall and a small tray pushed again through his door, he read the note.

"Odir, or Tarkin or whatever your name is, the Hutt paid us off, we are in a seperate part of the ship and not going near the way to your ship which we have, please dont get yourself killed, J"

The door clicked open..

No. There was no way in hell she was doing it. she threw the datapad against the door and it smashed violently, sending glass shards scattering over her cell floor. She sat back in the furthest corner of the cell, back against the wall, legs pulled in to her chest. And that was where she was when the doors opened. She could hear a commotion in the hallway which told her the other doors had opened she could hear hushed voices but she didn't lift her head from her knees, staying perfectly still. Shadows appeared at her doorway, falling over her glass littered floor.

"Letssssssss go." Arlak prompted and Dovakhin moved across the cell to her. Furred hands grabbed her, pulling her to her feet and attempting to lift her. She struggled, landing several blows on the wookies face and chest.

"No." She hissed dropping back to the floor, only to repeat the fight against the Wookie once more. She fought him off again and stood shaking, her eyes filled with panic fell on Pash. Appealing for his help. Dovakhin moved towards her a third time but she raised a hand threateningly.

"Touch me one more time and I will scream so loud every person on this ship will come running!" she snarled

Pushing past, daggers in his eyes at the wookie, Pash stood over Ardana, coaxing her, slowly taking her hand and leading her into the corridor, luckily a small set of lockers contained that stuff. Then his eyes fell on Jayne, Jayne had not coped well with the sedative and his eyelids had closed over his eyes. Pash immediatly took his heavy blaster rifle and modded it to his needs, focusing the barrel a little bit and failing to notice the crossed wires. He looked over at Ardana, if someone so red could go grey then it was so. Pash was worried about her an awful lot, but now was the time to move on. They came to a lounge area and Pash had an idea, he took 2 stun grenades, linked the fuses and put them on a proximity fuse, then he timed the frag grenade for 3 minutes, before beckoning them round the corner, into som stormtroopers, Ardana being herself swaggered dwn the corridor and seemed to overpower them, Pash had never seen her look more glamerous than he had ever seen, which was odd considering the mood. The others ran after her, leaving the stormtroopers to deal with the inevitable alarms the grenades followed.

Arriving at the shipdock Pash spotted their ship, it looked so lonely in this ship, but there were many enemies to get rid of first. Dovahkin moved up first, taking aim and hitting one of the stormtroopers near the entrance, Arlak was next, barging dovakin aside but failing to make an impact. The return fire took its toll and Dovahkin fell, sorely wounded, Pash decided enough was enough, switching to stun he spotted the Sector Ranger appear around the corner, lay down and pulled the trigger. A huge burst of blue light followed by an explosion was seen, and after the smoke cleared both Pash and the sector ranger were down.

She was physically shaking as Pash led her out but seemed to relax in his presence. There was something nice about knowing that he understood why she would react like this. She lent against him as he toyed with Jaynes blaster, needing the support and the comfort that him just being there offered. She relaxed more when she had her necklace back fastened around her neck. Once they had assembled themselves once more they moved on, and despite feeling on edge she managed to get them past a group of storm troopers. She could feel Pash's eyes on her but she carried on moving as though she was unfazed.

They reached the dock and a gunfight she ducked down behind some crates occasionally adding her blaster fire to the fray. Dovakhin hit the floor and she moved to help him but it was then she saw Pash. He took some heavy fire and fell. The Wookie could wait. Leaving Arlak to deal with the remaining enemies she ran to his side, dropping to her knees beside him. His hands were burned where the blaster had exploded and the sleeves of his top were still smouldering. She cut away the fabric and bandaged them quickly using a stim pack to revive him.

"Come on, Pash." She muttered below her breath, his wounds weren't bad but the impact could have caused internal damage, she prayed it hadn't.

Pash recovered to see Ardana staring at his arms, now rather shredded and blackened, but the stormtrooper behind her instantly brought him back to reality, instantly it was hand on pistol, aimed up, shot to the head. His blaster was with Jayne and he couldnt feel his arms enough to hold it properly. His aim was blurry, he needed a bit more medicl attention and that had to wait until they got the rest of the crew onboard and that needed the death of the troopers. He prayed that none were squad members but now was not the time to think about who he was killing.

Dropping in and out of conciousness he dreamed, about burning, and explosions, and when those had happened before to him. He work to find his burns painful and scarring, he somehow thought this could be the first of many such scars.

Her heart lept as he regained consciousness and she spun away from him, blaster in one hand knife in the other. she letp at one of the troopers that was approaching Arlak and Jammed her blade in to his throat, making use of the soft spot in the laminate. Blood fountained from his neck and splattered all over the floor. He hit the ground hard but she had already moved away, leveling her blaster at the next guard she fired rapidly and another one fell, the white laminate armour marked black where the shots had burnt through. Arlak finished the last few as she hastily tended to Dovakhin, gesturing to Arlak to help Pash up. The ship seemed to be held in place with some sort of tractor beam and they would need Pash's mechanical expertise to help disable it.

Pash woke with a start and sprinted out the ship

"GET THE GUY, ILL WORK ON THE SHIP" he screamed realising they had forgotten the man they had left behind was vital to their rescue or at least their continued survival. Arm's feeling as if they were still on fire Pash work tirelessly to get the tractor beam down, all that were in his head were codes and subroutines. His eyes purple flashed with greens and reds from computer lights, he had it down in what seemd like hours but was merely minutes.

Arriving with the man Pash barely had time to recognise not only the augmentation the man must have had at some point but also the Empire's R+D symbol on his left ankle. This was not going to be fun. Shooting out of the hanger Pash ran fr the guns, it was going to get hairy.

They were all on board, Arlak and Dovakhin guarding the prisoner she ran to the cockpit. Whilst Pash and a still groggy Jayne headed to the guns. Thankful that the freighter they were on wasn't in hyperspace she blasted out of the dock. She slammed the button for hyperspace as a swarm of Ties burst from the freighter, but nothing happened.

"We have a problem. Pash get to the hyperdrive! Arlak take his place on the gun." She ordered instantly duking to keep the freighter between them and the ties, trying to use their fire against the freighter. She hit buttons boosting the shields, keeping one step ahead of the ties.

Pash slid down the ladder, toolkit grabbed as he headed to the hyperdrive, finding parts everywhere, damnit this was not meant to happen, they would never survive this. Explosions rocked the ship and Pash had to shut off his com's to concentrate hard on the task at hand. His arms ached with the pain and his hands trembled with the fusion cutter as he slowly welded each part on. It was then he thought of how much damage he planned to do to that Sector Ranger they had in the storage lockers in the "Passanger" compartment, he was probably going to take great pleasure in his death, the man next to him maybe more so, this reeked of Empire Biotech.

Suddenly with a jolt the ship shot off into hyperspace, Pash not realising his repairs had been so well completed.

"Can we rest now?" he asked falling to the deck unconcious
