Fandom Edge of the Empire and the Age of Rebellion

She reacted sharply slapping his hand away before he could touch her, flinching as though she expected him to strike her in response.

'Why did you come to find me?' She whispered seemingly unable to speak any louder than that. 'I betrayed you.' She lowered her eyes to the floor, serving the governor had been her punishment for what she had done.

"Yes, you did" he said, a cold tone hinted at in his voice replaced with warmth "and I would be happy for you to explain why at some point, but for now I am glad i have you back and safe. Plus not like I was injured too badly huh?" A smirk jumped on his face

"Im going to sit on the bed now, on the opposite side of the room" moving over he sat down, started to clean his pistol

Now as she thought about it she didn't know why she had, but as she thought about it more she knew. She was protecting the others when really they could protect themselves. Made it seem like the whole thing was her ding in hope he would get away to safety and not try and save them. And it had worked, until now. She watched him move away, eyes focused on his hands as he worked. She lent back against the wall but otherwise remained motionless.

"I thought id let you know we are heading to Hoth, bloody cold even at the best time of year but I dont plan on staying long, just dropping off people and collecting supplies, then its off to do whatever we want" He stopped

"Or.... I could drop you off there if you wanted......"

She shook her head.

'I want to stay with you.' She muttered turning her eyes back to the floor afraid that he wanted to get rid of her. Her arms looped to pull her knees in to her chest, chin resting lightly atop her legs.

"Im glad" looking up as he reassembled the pistol, tossing it up so that when he caught it it was held at the barrel, he held it out to her

"this one has a little more kick than the last one, but it compensates, plus it has a few little tricks i can modify if need be"

She reached out and took the pistol, turning it over in her hands, allowing the faintest little smile to ghost across her lips. 'Thank you.' She said softly resting the gun on the ground beside her. 'I'm sorry.' She muttered suddenly her eyes avoiding his gaze.

He couldnt take it any more, he reached over, grabbed her and pulled her into a tight embrace

"I forgive you" he said, tears falling down his face

She jumped but didn't pull away, instead relaxed against him. She had forgotten how nice it felt to be held like this and wrapped her arms around him. 'I've missed you.' She whispered in to his ear, leaning against him. She felt her own eyes fill, tears dampening her eyelashes.

How long they were like that neither of them remembered but when the door opened to reveal Pash's squadmates they broke a part and Pash quickly started addressing Ardana's wounds. Some were very light but one or two were imperial marks which hadnt been treated properly. He laid her on his bed, her slender frame seeming small even in the modest space of the bunk as he began his work, bacta patches moved quickly into places.

She let him move her and begin addressing her wounds, as she had done for him so many times before. Most were bruises or minor scrapes but those around her wrists and throat where she had fought against her restraints were probably the worst. And then there was the brand, the imperial mark on her back that when Pash went near it she flinched and pulled away as though ashamed.

"hey hey hey no need to worry, youve seen mine" he whispered softly "plus i did a lot worse to earn mine than you did to have yours forced on you"

Hey lay down on the cool plasteel floor, head spinning with emotion. He wasnt sure if he could handle it, but she was worth it.

She hated that mark, but what she hated more was that she had let them do it. It had caused her a great amount of pain since it had happened, and even now it hurt to touch. She watched him move to lay on the floor, before eyeing the bandages and bacta patches he had placed over her frame.

Pash relaxed for the first time in months, like a giant weight had been lifted off him. He could feel his muscles relax and almost panic at the thought of the relaxation. He needed a bath, some sort of relaxing weekend far from anything. He had the credits for it, he could take the whole ship and relax for a week with the crew. It had to be Hoth though. Otherwise nothing would get done

Ardana lay on the bunk, turned so she could see him, feline green eyes fixed on him as though if she looked away he would vanish and this whole thing had been a dream. 'Where did you find Dovakhin?' She muttered, her guilt about having to leave the wookie before rising up suddenly. He must hate her for having not saved him.

"found him on the same planet you were on, small galaxy really" he said noncomittely "he needs som surgery, he will have to remain on Hoth for the time being, we have other things to attned to"

He reach his hand up to the bed and softly held ardana's arm, gently rubbing it with his thumb and fingers

"he'll be fine" Pash repeated, but having seen Dovahkin he wasnt so sure

'I shouldn't have left him there.' Her voice was beginning to sound a little more normal as her vocal chords relaxed. 'I could have helped him if I had gotten him back to the ship.' She muttered resting her hand atop of his.

"shhhhhhhhh" Pash replied, hand squeezing gently in comfort "you had a choice, im glad it was me that you chose"

He got up "Im going to check on everyone and the ship, try and get some sleep, you need it"

walking out he looked at the injured friends. They had been lucky, but not that lucky

She almost corrected him saying he was never part of the choice, He had been looked after before she even realised she would have to leave one of their number behind. But instead she stayed quiet and watched him rise and move to the door. She had to suppress the panic at the thought of him leaving her, reassuring herself it was only temporary and he would be back. She rested her head on the pillow and sighed as the door slid shut behind him.

Godin's ship had dropped back to go alongside the battered YT, moving around it to try and survey the damage, it didnt look good

"Looks like youre barely holding it together" Godin said "better do a quick repair"

Pash walked to the damaged cockpit, sure enough some systems were dangerously close to failing.

"you know she saved us all right?"

Pash whipped round, hand reaching behind his back for something, it was the rodian

"Yeah i know, no one flies quite like her"

Ardana drifted off in to a restless sleep, but was soothed by the gentle hum of the ships engine and although the sleep was fractured it was more than she had managed in a long while. She woke up, disorientated and took a moment to adjust to where she was. It came flashing back to her and she smiled, thankful it hadn't just been a dream. She rose and moved towards the door but hesitated, what if she ran in to Dovakhin? She wasn't brave enough for that just yet so backed away once more.

Pash opened the door to see a stunned Ardana standing there

"um I hope you dont mind, i just uh, need to sleep"

She moved aside and he collapsed into his bunk, the tiredness rushing over him.

"thanks for saving us btw........" he snored loudly

She chuckled lightly and shook her head, his return the push she needed to step out in to the ship. She habitually made her way to the flight deck, stepping nervously across the threshold. The Rhodian busy at work tried not to focus his attention on her, clearly worried about frightening her again. She assessed the damage quickly before muttering 'Can I help.' In a voice so quiet that if the other hadn't been sitting perfectly still they wouldn't have heard.

'Sure.' He replied and without any prompting she took a seat at one of the consoles and began repairing the ships systems. It was no Gammorean but it was better than nothing.

Pash had a restful sleep for the first time in months, his thoughts alligning into one thought, one that they had been meaning to get round to for a long time. He knew what they had to do, his thoughts were strangely uplifting and he felt at peace.

He woke as a light cup clattered to the floor, getting up he noticed the drop out of hyperspace and called up a viewport on his datapad

Hoth.... cold as hell, but home for many

Ardana was perched in the co-pilots seat, she had managed to fix many of the ships faulty systems and the Rhodian had happily left her to it. Almost all of the failing systems were back in working order and it was only the hull trauma that would need a full look over. As they dropped out of hyper space she looked up to see Hoth. It was beautiful in its whiteness, the first time the Twi'lek had ever seen snow. 'Wow' She muttered in awe.
