Fantasy Department of Defense Against the Supernatural

Ahava Font

"Hmm, let's just give Detective Reed a call, I just saw her in her office earlier," Ava turned to the receptionist, "Sandra, can I borrow your desk's phone?"

"Sure, just don't freeze it again, I just had it fixed," the receptionist lady handed over Henry's new visitor name tag with a business smile, "Here you go. I can't issue a detective's badge, so you need to take care of that later."

Ava rolled her eyes and put in Piper's office number, then she waited for a response. @Sleipnir

( I'll wait for other replies first @RedZombieWolf )

Justin just came back from the thing he forgot he was doing. The Department was usually a place of adrenaline, active cases and other crap, but today, the wait seemed boring af. Strolling around the corridors, his eyes fell on some new faces. New people. Actual new-newer people. Interacting with them seemed more interesting than the wait he was drowing in, so he headed for the 2 people. One was a girl, and the other was a guy, who apparently was getting his deparment employee badge. Approaching them, Justin clear his throat slightly, and bursted out: ''Thank god...new recruits'' he said closing in on the two, and then extending a hand in good will. ''Name's Justin. Justin Reek. Deparment agent/techinican/part-time investigator. And you two are?'' @Platipoo @RedZombieWolf

William gave up after a while of numerous investagations of the body. It seemed too generic of a killing. Anything could have used brute force and raw killing power like this. Anything but humans. By the marks and slashes, it could have been anything from a werewolf to angry kanima, or insectoid, but the bruises and deep gashes suggested something manmade aswell, like knives or machetes. Was something supernatural using normal weapons to put off the fact the killiing is not made by humans, or did the killers simply like to use both weapons and supernatural power? Deciding to take a further look, he dwelled again in inspecting.

(Btw is @Kylesar1 still in the RP? Haven't seen him in a long time)

Henry looked at the man and smiled, "I'm Henry Karmonijzn, this is Miss Ahava Font. I'm new here and Miss Gont was helping me out. It's a pleasure to meet you Mr Reek."

Justin made a icky face as he heard himself being called Mr Reek. ''Stop it'' he said rapidly. ''Don't ever call me that. It sounds hilariously dumb. First off I'm not a mister. Not that old yetm thank you and secondly, Mr Reek sounds like I'm a grumpy old neighbour that really likes leeks. No thank you. Justin should be fine'' he said finishing. ''Those being said, nice to meet you: Henry. Miss Ahava'' he said tilting his head for both of them, mostly for the girl. ''Looking for Pipes right? I could show you two around if you're up for it'' he said waiting for an answer. In his haze, he clearly didn't see Ahava wasn't an agent, so she mistook her for one of the new ones.. @RedZombieWolf @Platipoo

Henry nodded his head, "Thanks Justin, that'd be very helpful." Henry said. As he was following Justin, he turned his head to Ahava and asked, "You coming along Miss Font?"

"Ah, yeah," Ahava smiled a confused smile, her chance of introducing herself was taken away before she even realized what was happening. "Uh, but I'm calling-" she sighed and asked Sandra the receptionist to tell Piper that a new recruit is on his way to her office right now. Ahava jogged a little to catch up with the two men and tried to correct Justin's misunderstanding, "Agent Reek? Err- Justin? I'm not really a new recruit.." She flashed her ID badge in front of him, the date she joined DDAMPSEA as a part-timer printed neatly as about 1 month ago.

Justin stood a couple of moments in confusion, then it hit him. He has seen her before, god, was he a brainless dolt. ''God. I'm an idiot'' he said rubbing his head nervously. ''Sorry. I'm kinda braindead today. It has been a dead-hot day, and there are no alternative cases poppin. I'm just not thinking'' he said then brushed it offf. ''Anyway, let us continue on to Piper's office then. I can show him some stuff on the way...'' @Platipoo @RedZombieWolf

R'lyeh watched as a mama bird fed her baby birds. The sight of it couldn't help but put a smile on his monstrous face. He stood up and moved away from the large sycamore tree he called his home. It was very sturdy and it could hold up his wait wen he sat up against it. R'lyeh looked to the ground as he heard something crunch leaves just a few meters from his location. His eyes widened as he prepared for a hunter to appear. He started to growl to try and scare them off. The crunching continued until it came into sight. It was his pet bear. He smiled and pet the grizzly once it was close enough. He continued to feel the bear's soft fur and he sat down, making a loud noise. The bear sat down next to him and yawned. "Good Kitty." R'lyeh said in his deep voice. "Good Kitty."

Ava laughed a little and shook her head, "That's okay. I rarely roam around the department anyway," only when taking lunch orders, she noted silently. She smiled at Henry, "She's nice and very good at her job, though today she seems a bit unwell.. She looks tired."

Ronan walked back inside his apartment and closed the door quietly before locking it, which was no simple task. He had rigged his home with as much defense as possible. The door had a standard lock, a deadbolt, a secondary deadbolt that could only be locked or unlocked by digital keys, and a sphinx riddle just encase he needed to extra security, and that was only the door. Being an Osteomancer had it's perks, along with a couple of downsides depending on the company you are in. "It is about time this package arrived.", he said cheerfully as he walked over to his table to lay down the rather large container. From there he walked over to close his window blinds and cover up any other areas that might provide a view of his apartment. He had chosen a rather odd apartment building; it was five stories tall, with four above ground and one below. Having left LA under shady circumstances, Ronan had opted for the fifth level. He had still chosen one with windows, but he enjoyed far more secrecy than the neighbors above him.

Making his way back to the table he carefully cut the tape on the bow and opened he lid. Inside was a hefty container and a white envelope with a letter. Here you go babe. Make the most of it. Love, Jess. The letter smelled of perfume, and there were lipstick marks where the sender had left a kiss. Ronan smiled. Jess had always been flirty and fun loving, and the two had been close. Ronan recalled a time that the two of them had been on the same dig, a particularly profitable one, and had been caught in a rainstorm and found shelter in a small cave only after they had been soaked to the bone. Ronan had managed to get a fire going, having Firedrake was useful for those situations, but they still had to worry about hypothermia. Chile during that time had been cold, especially in the mountains. All alone in the mountains of Chile while stuck in a cave during a rain storm, needless to say they ended up very close to each other. But, that had been the extent of their relationship. One memory, a fond one, but nothing more. He had been forced to leave shortly after. Ronan shook his head. It wasn't worth worrying about what could have been, especially now that he had found someone who seemed to share a common interest. He thought of Fred as he laid the letter aside and pulled the container out from the box. He was already excited about meeting her for coffee, even if it was just a simple first date. "Okay, back to the task at hand."

Inside the container was enough Osteomantic materials to get someone visited by the Ministry, and possibly even thrown under the jail. Basilisk, Sint Holo, Rok, Griffin, and several others, all of good quality. It wasn't illegal to be an Osteomancer, but with it involving the consuming of skeletal remains of magical creatures, it was a heavily regulated practice. The Ministry of Osteomancy was an unofficial guild that controlled everything to do with the official practice of Osteomancy and the regulations there in. The selling of creature bone was not governed, but the Ministry usually kept up with what was being sold where and who had what in stock. Private individuals with large bone stocks were usually monitored more than a magical peddler with the occasional bone fragment. Thankfully Fred would not be considered by the Ministry. Sure, she might be a witch, but the Ministry wasn't concerned with witches. It seemed like a double standard, but it worked out for Ronan well enough.

(More to come for the Order later)

Piper was not aware of her partner's exact whereabouts, so she just called over the intercom, "Greyston, you're needed for paperwork. Happy birthday." She then slid across the room to make a cup of coffee.

Greyston sighed and mumbled to himself about Piper. She could have just texted him! Either way, he headed upstairs to meet with her.

"You called, my darling?" He asked sarcastically, leaning in on the door frame. Clearly it wasn't a true pet name for her, but rather a friendly jab.

*IS Super not sure what the rest of my characters are doing so I'll just let them be.*

She had waited in the lobby for some time and had become bored. Fred had thought that they would set out immediately, but had apparently been incorrect. She stroked Bartholomew absent-mindedly as she contemplated what to do next. Feeling her stomach growl in hunger she stood to her feet and headed off toward the cafeteria, deciding that such decisions are best made on a full stomach.

Alexander had been down in the meeting room and chosen to go with Will on this case involving the Hallows, but it seems Will had left and Alex had missed when he made his exit. Either way, he decided to go for lunch, he was excited for the President's party, and couldn't wait until Friday.

He passed where Ethel had a desk, and paused, the guy seemed bored, so he figured he'd ask if he wanted to join him on his way to lunch.

"Alexander Swift," He said, as an introduction, "Are you new here? Care for some food? I'm on my way to the cafeteria if you'd like to come.

@Dnaleri017

Liliana was in the Cafeteria already, having left the meeting early with the decision that she would pursue the case about the truckload of dead bodies that had fallen over- that one sure seemed interesting.

She noticed Fred when she walked in and offered a bit of a wave and a smile.

He passed where Zhaine E. had a desk, and paused. His name made Alex remember his brother, who's fairly recent death was still a sore memory, it had been nearly a month ago, but that- to him- was still a fresh wound for such a huge loss. He smiled at the fellow who sat there, and offered a hand.

"Alexander Swift," He said, as an introduction, "Sorry for staring, Zhaine is- was my brothers name, is all." He said with a bit of an apologetic smile. "Are you new here?"

(I need some quick clarity, you're talking to Ethel right? Cause he is the only one in the Department but you said Zhaine)

Ethel looked at Alexander and nodded, "Yes I'm new, detective in training, and yes food would be lovely. My name is Ethel Vexx, it's an honor to meet you Mr.Swift."

(Side note, I am using a randomly named NPC for the hostage)

Elsewhere, in a dark, damp, moldy room, a very unfortunate individual finally woke up. The person, a man, age thirty by the name of Mark, opened his eyes to find a haze from where the drugs were leaving his system. His body ached all over, like he had been thrown into a meat grinder. Despite the dull aching, though, he could plainly feel his arms were behind his back and flex cuffed, but there was also weight dragging his arms down. Flex cuffed, to a chain maybe? His legs were also cuffed and chained, and his mouth had been tapped and gagged. Mark groaned, his life suddenly very uncomfortable. He had been minding his own business this morning, walking down the street towards the Department, when he had found himself grabbed, locked in a choke hold, and stabbed with a syringe of some nasty drug cocktail that put him under faster than he'd expected. The groan wasn't about that though. He had groaned because, as a Department agent, he had been through training to prepare him for these situations. Whatever had gotten a hold of him had not been human, that much was certain. If it had been, he might have been able to fight his way out. But the strength of the arms that had grabbed him was far more potent than any man he had ever come across before.

"The bastards awake."

The voice, a man's, was filled with spite. Who could it belong to though? The sudden hook that caught Mark's temple rattled his head hard enough for him to lose focus again. "You poor bastard. I bet you didn't expect to wake up to me now did you?" Carnifex laughed as he grabbed Mark by his face and made him stare at his mask. "The thing is, you can't wake up from this nightmare." With a growl Carnifex formed a toothed maw across his mask and laughed maniacally, listening with pleasure as Mark screamed despite the gag.

"You know that they will find him right?" The voice, it was the other man again. Carnifex turned to look at the man, who wore a suit and sunglasses. He looked like another agent. "I expect them to, that's what a baited trap is for. You leave obvious bread crumbs and expect the fools to stumble blindly into the trap to rescue their comrade. The thing is, they won't be expecting us." Carnifex laughed as he walked over to stand beside Vortigas. Looking back at the other agent he continued. "Activate his distress beacon, we're going to find a place for our friend to hang around."

Mark looked up, hearing the emphasis placed on the word hang, and began looking about the room frantically. With a sudden jerk he was yanked back by his arms, flipping the chair and dragging him along the ground until the chain caught the slack and began to pull his arms up. He felt the uncomfortable shift in his shoulders as he dangled in the air. "Damn it, his arm caught." Carnifex grumbled as he yanked back on the lever he was turning. The chain caught, pulling Mark's arms out of socket as it carried him to around six feet off the ground. Mark was crying now, the pain shooting down into his back and up into his arms and neck. "Ouch, that might have hurt." Carnifex jumped down from the rafter and landed in front of Mark. "Look brother, a fly caught in our web. Oh whatever are we to do with him? I know, lets see how many places I can stick him without hitting an artery or vital organ." Carnifex reached up and tore of Mark's shirt. "Gotta have a clear view of the board before I start my equation. Oh don't fret, I am leaving you intact this time. Your Department needs to find one whole body. They just won't be expecting to find two other bodies as well."

@Elias @Sleipnir

Fred saw Liliana's gesture and returned it before she took her place in line to retrieve a plate of fruit for herself as well as a saucer and carton of milk for Bartholomew, before she made her way over to Liliana's table. "Hey." She said with a smile, "You did some amazing work back in Chicago."

@Hel

Vortigas stared intently in silence, as his violent brother did his fun little ''surgery''. Hell, it was even interesting to watch for Vortigas. The way the skin crackled at the violent punctures of the other hollow, the way the muffled screams of Mark, the deparment agent, rang behind the muzzle he was sporting, and even the violent twitches of the victim's body, were something really beautiful in its own nature, at least for someone as derranged as the two masked menaces. He was waiting patiently, and soon Carnifex stepped aside to let him play aswell. No vital organs or arteries. Those were the rules his brother put, but who cared. There were so many other not-so vital parts that could be twisted, sawed, cut or even stung. For a good 15 minutes, Plfx-02 proved he was worthy of his name as he tortured Mark the best way he could. Eventually, he left room for Carnifex again. He knew this game of horror would continue for some time, until the Deparment would catch their scent. Poor Mark. Trapped in a nightmare so vivid and lifelike, where even pain could have save him from the upcoming madness. Pain is a great teacher. Mark would just have to learn to endure through it.

@BookWyrm

William eventually entered back in the HQ, then headed for the dining area. After 2 hours of investagting the damn body he could use a hot cup o'coffee and some donuts. As a human, the Kraken was really amazed by how good a chocolate donut could taste, and the way it could relax you. Grabbing some grub, he sat down at a table, while still looking through the notes he made. Grabbing his phone he texted the others. ''Been doin' some research. I came to the conclusion that the masked killers are probably genetically and possibly magically alterred humans/humanoids. No leads on them yet, but there are reports of Mark missing. Somebody further look into it please...''

Justin lead his two new buddies throughout the corridors showing them the way ahead. Ahava probably been around these parts before, but he guessed for the other guy, this was all quite new. They passed the cafeteria, the weapons facility, where they saw a werebear gearing up, then passing by a medical area, and other stuff. ''We also have a gym, tons of cool-ass aparments, the techical area, where are located the most pumped machines you'll ever see'' he said as they finally entered the office areas. Approaching Piper's door, Justin knocked slightly on the door, then plunged his head in. ''Hey Piper. *ahem* Miss Piper. Got some new faces for you'' he said as he let Henry in...

Ahava Font

Ahava wondered how she managed to let herself got dragged into this tour, but decided to shrug it off. In the end, this offer was kind of interesting. She sure has been to plenty of these places in the department - she's used to delivering papers between offices, afterall - but some rooms she hadn't tried to look around, since she was afraid she'd get in trouble if she somehow got into a room that she's not supposed to. Justin IS an agent, so she might as well take this chance to get to know places she wouldn't dare get into by herself. She actually had quite a good time because of Justin's cheerful way of explaining things. Though by the time they arrived at Piper's office, she felt too awkward if she has to explain to Piper about their little tour and tried to bail out, "Justin, thanks for showing me around, but I think I better get back to the warehouse. Oh, good luck with your new job, Detective Karmozijn. See you around!" She started walking towards the lift.

Henry looked around the offices Justin was leading them. It was all very nice looking and definitely interesting. As they came up to Piper's office, Ahava said goodbye, Henry turned to her and said, "Thanks for all your help Miss Font, I owe you big time. You ever need anything you can count on me. But, are you sure you want to go back to the warehouse now? You could come in with me and see what Piper thinks of you?"

Piper grinned at her desk work as Greyston came in, clearly irritated with her for calling him over the intercom. She looked up over her shoulder at him. "Good, dear. I missed you!" There was nothing sincere in her tone, being a response to Greyston's little jab, but they surely knew she actually meant it. "I need you to sign something from the case in New Orleans, I think it was." She glanced at the paper again to be sure but didn't take the time to actually find what it was she was looking for before handing it to Greyston.

When Justin came in with the recruits, she stood up and nodded. "Justin, that'll be Miss Reed around the new ones — well, for the first month or so, until they figure out not even Greyston here takes this job seriously. On that note, this here is Cornelius Greyston, your very own director of the department. Somehow." She grinned, throwing another look at him before turning back to Henry. "Now, who are you, might I ask?"
