Fantasy Department of Defense Against the Supernatural

The other masked brother, Vortigas, nodded quietly as he followed Carnifex to their preset spot, where they would set up in wait for the ''Funky Bunch'' as Carnifex called the Department shitheads. Both of them truly did a wonderful job with torturing Mark, the Department agent. They got a real fear and terror instiged into those who watched what they could do. He let Carnifex do the talk with the Department earlier. Vortigas was anyway the silent, derranged type. The way Carnifex talked had a little more panache, and mystery, and he did it way better. Especially the dark monologue. Very evil-Batman like. It was really heartwretching, and Vortigas bet that all of that really took all the hope out of poor Mark. Dwelling on these thoughts, he pulled out his new weapon he made specifically for the the fight with the agents. It looked like a katana mixed with a machete, sporting not 2 sharp sides but 3. This would be really good in gutting out and cutting all those unfortunate Deparment souls. ''They'll get quite a carnage'' he said musing to himself, then followed his brother.

@BookWyrm

Justin and William rallied besides the other Deparment agents and set forward to save Mark.

(sorry for this lame-short post, I'm busy. Should get some more good posts later)

Piper huffed, irritated by Sanja and her poltergeist but did not stop them. Somehow she wasn't sure she could. "Right. Let's get out there. This is an emergency. Road laws are not our primary concern today," Piper warned them. "And don't skimp on the firepower. We are doing something reckless and dangerous, and likely, it's a trap. They wouldn't have sent that video if they didn't want us there." She turned and left the group, picking up Sander along the way. Galleytrot met her outside.

Meanwhile, Sanja had picked Shylock up, dragging him out of the store without so much as a word to Zhaine. He briefly complained about the horse but didn't exactly have a say in the matter, and within ten minutes, they were well over halfway there — horses don't do roads, and this was no ordinary horse by any stretch of the imagination.

When they arrived, Bae leaped off with Sanja following closely. He stared at the complex, then after several steps forward, he recoiled abruptly with a frown. Oh, I don't like... That. He was unsure what that was, but it disturbed him. He leered at the complex, then looked at Sanja. These buildings weren't too far apart. He picked her up. "Hold on, Annie. This'll be a fun new experience."

He waited for no response and began teleporting between buildings, hunting out the Hallows with their hostage.

Luke went outside to Piper. Something didn't really add up. An abandoned building being used for power, The 2 minute tracking, the ease of pinpointing the location. "Allow me to go along with you." It wasn't often Luke volunteered for something.

"Obviously this is a trap. We all know that. I'll sit on the outside of the building, and send bots on the inside to assist you."

@Sleipnir

Carnifex felt a vibration, a stirring in the atmosphere. Something is here. No, two, maybe three. "Somethings here. Two, maybe three. I can sense two life forces, but there it a third, maybe something undead, it isn't coming in clear." Carnifex looked up from his hiding spot and down at Mark. Time to begin. Part of the reason Carnifex had chosen this location was because of it's history with the Mafia. They had used this building to run weapons and other goods, as well as to torture and execute enemies or hostages. The residual negative energy in this complex alone was palpable. Many of those who had suffered torture or execution remained here, their souls bound to forever remain in sorrow and torment. And Carnifex had been slowly feeding on that energy ever since he stepped foot into the complex. He could feel it seeping into him, coiling like a thousand snakes underneath his "skin". His sense were becoming sharper by the minute. He could hear the erratic heartbeat from Mark as he continued to bleed out. He could also hear the intruders moving about the complex as they searched for Mark. And, perhaps, he could even hear to sobbing and moans from the trapped souls that were slowly being drawn to his own presence.

It was one of the freakiest things he had ever seen, and it still unsettled him. Existing part way between the world of the living and the spiritual realm allowed the Hollows to see into both realms. In the material world, Carnifex saw his normal form, but in the spirit world he looked very different. He couldn't exactly make out his true appearance, only the reflection of two yellow eyes, a sort of human like silhouette, and a glowing white light emanating from his body like a lure. He had watched as souls, stuck in the mortal world for one reason or another, were drawn to this light, only to be consumed and absorbed into him. It was disturbing, even now after becoming a Hollow. What was this form? Was it something locked inside of him? He had stopped to look at it in a mirror one time. He had titled his head, the reflection had remained still. Carnifex had never looked at a mirror again. The thought of something else living within him bothered him, but he knew it was there. The coiling feeling was a clear reminder. That wasn't his body moving like that. Whatever it was inside of him, one day it would come out. Carnifex shook his head, focusing on the task at hand.

@Elias @Sleipnir @Kylesar1

Bael could sense something nasty nearby now, as he stood right outside the building where Carnifex and Vorticas were holed up likes rats in the insulation. He dropped Sanja on her feet, his eyes wandering around him.

Sanja knew about the deaths here and looked over at the poltergeist, curious about what he was seeing. She didn't ask, though. Bael jerked his head, turning his attention back to the task at hand. "Here we go. Text Piper. Tell her, '416.' That's the building. It's in there." He turned his attention to Sanja suddenly, then with a grim look, he added, "Be careful, An—" he suddenly looked away, frowning and looking very confused. "...Sanja. Go get your leech friend, yeah?"

Sanja nodded. "You be careful, too, Bael," she said quietly. She turned and called Sundial, taking off.

Bael stood silently for a minute long. Sanja had certainly found the right words to get his attention. He felt a sort of dull throbbing in his head, and squeezed his eyes shut, stomach twisting. He let out a slow breath, and 'jumped' into the room as a presence, the lights flickering and computers crashing as the electricity stalled and struggled against the force that is a poltergeist. Objects rattled violently. In the sudden din, Bael appeared, standing at the far end of the room all surrounded by smoke and as in the lighthouse when he met Piper, the only thing one could clearly make out was his eyes, sharp and bright. The rest faded in with the shadows.

((Sorry xD I didn't exactly expect Carnifex to do the thing...)

Carnifex stared at the poltergeist, tilting his head to look at it better. Ah, that explains the third presence. It as clear now that the Department had sent a poltergeist, or at least the poltergeist was with the Department. Whatever, it didn't matter much. But what had drawn him here? Was it the other spirits that had been wandering into the room? Carnifex felt something stirring inside him, a growl in the back of his mind. It needs to leave..... Carnifex was startled to say the least. Something was talking to him, in his own mind. Freaky. But the presence felt familiar. It reminded him of when he had been trapped inside the Abyss. His spirit had been warped and tormented, but something had found him there. All he remembered was the voice, a voice that sounded a lot like the one in his head.

I'll make it leave, but not yet. I can feed on it.

Pain flared throughout Carnifex's whole body, almost driving a howl out of him, but he forced himself to remain quiet. The pain had come from trying to feed off the poltergeist? But why? Carnifex could clearly feel the hatred and anger boiling over in the spirit, let alone the dread and grief. But something else kept him from being able to consume the spirit. No doubt he felt it too though.

@Elias @Sleipnir @Kylesar1

Indeed Bael had felt it. He tilted his head, silent and pondering what had occurred. Whatever this... Thing was, it had tried to do something to him. Bael couldn't exactly tell what, because clearly it failed. He was not in the business of talk though and he had to admit that there was not a drop of curiosity in him.

He wanted to kill it.

Bael took several steps forward, a slight sneer drawing his lips back. "You are one ugly boiled owl," he observed quietly. He scoffed, and computer monitors and glass shattered. "I wouldn't worry too much about me making it worse. I doubt I could."

Somewhere around the southern zone of DC...

Uther wanted to take a break from the classical hack-and-slash kills, so he opted for something more interesting. He befriended a sick 35-year-old woman, named Isabella, whom he met by entering a hospital in the area. He managed to achieve such a 'feat' through the use of his illusions and manipulation. Isabella had terminal cancer and there was nothing anyone could do for her anymore, but Uther thought otherwise. From his point of view he could satisfy her desires on an emotional and spiritual level. That way her soul would grow stronger and Uther would have a more satisfying...snack.

Uther and Isabella were having a conversation about her life on the rooftop of the hospital. It seemed that things went as Uther wanted. He truly was great at persuading people, or manipulating them.

''
Listen, Isabella...contrary to what you may belive, there are still things in life which can make you happy. I am not a normal human and I have enough power within me to satisfy some of those desires...if you'd let me''.

''
What desires are you talking about, Uther? I have terminal cancer and my life was never really a good one to begin with. The only thing left to do is to accept my fate''.

''
Nonsense, my dear. Think about it. Apart from your disease, there are also people who made your life miserable. What if ...you, as you are now, would make a comeback with a smile, visit them together with myself and make them feel terror. Revenge can really make you burst with joy sometimes, you know? They made you suffer, so the least you can do is not to accept your fate, but at the very least make them all trip and fall into the pits of chaos and insanity. You can do it...with me by your side''.

After Uther's speech, something happened within Isabella's mind. Normally a human like her would think that doing something of that sort is wrong, but Uther's words, his charisma, his persuasive capabilities and the instability of the woman's mind made it possible to plant a seed within Isabella's mind and soul and the effects started to appear. Isabella's initial moral values crumbeled and were reduced to dust. In their place came the desire for vengeance.

''
U-Uther...c-can you really do it? Can you satisfy such a desire?'' she asked. ''Better than using words, why don't I show you instead?'' he replied as he lifted Isabella's body and carried her like a princess. He took his true form and teleported in the central park. From there he explained that he did some research and knew, in fact, each and every person who hurted her and left her alone. Isabella was both shocked and in awe because of this revelation.

One by one, Uther executed each and every person who ever made Isabella suffer, right in front of her eyes, using different methods each time. He did things like burning people slowly in different ways and positions, gauging their eyes out and shattering their limbs, causing terrifying illusions which made some people go insane, torturing them in various ways with telekinesis and so on. Although different, all the methods used had something in common: they were slow and extremely painful. ''
Look Isabella. Each of them crumbled so easily in just one day. You had to suffer for many years and you're still alive! You're stronger than each of them combined! You won, Isabella!'' said Uther.

Isabella never knew that she could feel so satisfied from watching the people she hates suffer and get what they deserve. Uther's short speech about how she was strong and they were weak actually convinced her. What was their physical pain in comparison to her physical, mental and spiritual pain? From her point of view Uther was right. She was strong and alive. The others were weak and dead. She won and they lost. Never before had she felt so alive. Uther's disturbing and immoral actions actually strengthened her soul. Too bad that...she didn't have much time left. On the other hand, that's why Uther chose her in the first place.

''
Hey, Isabella...I was thinking. I will not accept that a person like you has to die in a hospital, in pain. I have the power to absorb souls and...I wanted to be one to give you a painless death and absorb your soul. It's quite romantic if you think about it. I'll be the last person by your side when you die and after I absorb it, your soul and mine will become one'' said Uther on a calm tone. Isabella looked at him, fascinated and with tears in her eyes. Someone actually valued her. For once she could actually say that, in her short life, she found her one true love. ''You are a true angel, Uther. Yes, please do it'' she said, smiling.

Uther approached Isabella and in the split of a second she appeared right in fron of her. He penetrated her skull with the index finger of his left hand, while he used his right hand to steal her heart away,
literally. He trully have her a quick and painless death. As Isabella's soul came out and took shape, Uther simply took her etheral body in his arms and said: ''I also took your heart away. I will keep it as a sign of my affection''. A few seconds after he said that, he kissed her. Her soul slowly entered his body as if he was absorbing smoke.

''
It truly is painful to live...without chaos!'' he thought to himself.

R'lyeh, trying to find his pet bear who wandered off a few moments ago, stumbled through the edge of the forest, seeing people and cars. He was washed over with a sense of confusion. People? I'm home? I'm home! He thought to himself. He had no memory of his real home, but he still thought that he was a human, or that he was one before. He started to walk out of the forest and into the city when he heard a few people screaming. He looked over in their direction to see if they needed help, but noticed they were looking in his direction. He turned around to see more buildings then he realized that they were looking at him. R'lyeh's expression changed from amusement to sadness. "I'm not here to hurt you. I promise. Please..." He said to them in his monstrous voice. He inched towards them and they ran. He turned around, his body too large, and he smashed a car's side, obviously totaling the car. He looked at the car and said, "Sorry." He sat down, leaving a large crater in the sidewalk. "Help!" He yelled out to anyone.

Tristan was walking down the street and noticed a large stone creature sitting halfway in the road. It obviously didn't seem hostile and he figured he might be able to make some quick cash if he dealt with it and told the department. Hey there big guy, need some help? This is not exactly a good place to be sitting with all these people watching. They're not used to seeing big things wander out of the forest. Let's go back into the forest and I'll see what I can do to help you, that sound good? Tristan smiled to try and make himself seem friendly enough for the giant to listen to him.

Vortigas stared intently in silence as the poltergeist appearead in a very dramatic entrance in their chamber. It looked just as Vortigas imagined, and perhaps even scarier. A pile of smoke, with threathening eyes, that sent stabs just as they glanced around the chamber. Vortigas was a really perceptive being, meaning he could percieve much of the two worlds, maybe a little less than how Carnifex did it, but still something was there. It happened when they radiated him, so many time ago, in that gods-forsaken room. The room where they fed eldtrich magic in him, The poltergeist did a couple of steps towards them and seemed to be adressing to Carnifex, with every word, the room around them booming, tv's cracking, wind shuffling and glass breaking, making a mess everywhere. The hand of the hollow quickly went to his pocket where he knew he had deposited the rune soul-stone the agents gave him earlier. It was supposed to have many souls in it, and to offer a slight boost of immense power, when they used it. He debated wheter they should use it now to end the ghost. That way they could disperse of this bigger threat before the others arrived. But at the same time, Carnifex didn't seem intent on killing it yet, and the two seemed to be striking a conversation.

Still thinking, Vortigas stepepd a few steps in front, to allow himself to be seen aswell. His mask eye-sockets were glowing faintly, and his mask was already forming a stiched line, opening slightly. This were being made in order to show the non-material threat before him, that he was willing to protect Carnifex with all he got if something were to happen. Using his radiation-induced voice, he mimicked a voice he scoured when looking at Bael. ''Don't try anything stupid, ghost'' he said in a voice that surely was familiar to Bael. His own sister's.

@BookWyrm @Sleipnir

A flash of light could be seen on the afternoon-evening sky as Justin flew forward with all his speed towards the abandoned building the hollows have donned as their temporary terror-cave. Landing with a thump, Iron-Man style, he quickly redressed and started climbing a more secluded part of the building. He was wearing light armor, enchanted with various spells, and the demon-killing knife he had found in the weaponry. Perhaps it would work against the masked shitheads as well. Climbing with high speed, he entered a window, and quickly dodged what seemed like a loose electric wire. No doubt intentional lose wire, and then stepped over a gaping hole into the mere floor. Soon after him, a bigger figure, climbed, as William followed him into their stealth mission..

Immediately Bael's attention whipped toward Vortigas, that same piercing gaze now trained on him and fixed with outrage. Whatever chaos there was before seemed silent compared to the maelstrom that followed, throwing everything toward the walls — including an abandoned truck that out of the corner of his eye, Bael thought perhaps had crushed a man that had been working on the computers before Bael had trashed them. He barely resisted the urge to go for his pocket knife, remembering only the last time he had wanted so badly to carve someone up when he saw them.

That had been the basement.

"Of all the voices!! Of all the fucking voices — you think this is a game? You think you can play with that!?" He roared, the truck now sliding across the floor at increasing speed toward the three of them. The room grew darker still.

(Today is a good day.)

R'lyeh stood up when he saw Tristan. "Ok." He replied, with a sad tone in his voice. He walked back into the forest after saying a goodbye to the city. He walked to his favorite spot, going through a short hike through it, by the giant tree. His pet bear was waiting for him there. The best started to growl when he saw the human. R'lyeh pointed at his 'Kitty' and said, "No Kitty! My friend! No hurt my friend!" Kitty sat down and yawned, still staring at Tristan. R'lyeh turned to Tristan and said, "Kitty is nice as long as you are with me. He doesn't like intruders." He spread his lips to show his perfectly white teeth, it was a smile.

Fair enough, I can understand that. Now then, since I have no clue how to help you quite yet why don't you tell me a little about yourself, it would be a good start for me to figure out how to help. Tristan took out a notepad and pen and jotted down a few notes glancing at the bear every now and then. He knew he could easily kill the bear with a good strike but would rather keep the peace unless he absolutely had to cause some violence.

Vortigas was catched off-guard as the poltergeist unleashed it's mad fury the chaos around the room now beaming at even higher speed. A glint of shock sneaked it's way into his mind, as he realised both with horror and delight, that he had touched a sensible cord on the poltergeist. No, he wasn't going to whimper out now, and prove he is the lesser than Carnifex. He was going to fight. Poltergeist, humans, Department, whatever. Bring it on. The poltergeist seemed blind in fury as he charged the truck towards them. A big obstacle, but largely avoidable, if they kept their cool. Brutally pushing Carnifex out of the way, Vortigas leaped in the other direction, as the large vehicle sprowled past them, and through windows, into the ground below. Recovering from the jump, Vortigas jumped back on his feet, determined to face the smoking terror. The Hollows didn't come unprepared. They had their own forces, their own creatures, their own neat little tricks. One of the training exercises they had many time ago, was how to deal against a non-material being. The fruits of that training slowly started coming together in his mind, as he sidestepped, jumped and leaped his way out of the things that Bael was throwing at them. Looking at his brother, he motioned frantically, begging for a moderate distraction. Carnifex was surely going to think of something, he was as calm as collected when needed, as even Vortigas.

@BookWyrm @Sleipnir

By the time, however, Vortigas was able to turn his attention back to Bael, the boy was no longer there: the room, though, was still terribly dark and the pandemonium still on, implying that he had not left. Instead he had become one with it. For that moment Bael no longer had any physical form; rather, he was a force of conciousness.

Suddenly, then, the ghost was directly behind Vortigas, close enough to whisper to him, "Boo." He phased his hand through Vortigas's back, hunting for something solid to tear back out — a trick he had mastered in his time haunting the lighthouse he called home.

Vortigas gasped with a violent shrug as he felt the hand of the poltergeist go through him. It felt terryfying, yet also interestingly new. For a few seconds, the younger hollow simply considered adding this hand-through-the-back thing to his torture repertoire. That was providing he didn't die for real, fighting this blindly mad ghost. The other couldn't see, but under his mask a hopeful smile irked. With the hand of the ghost grasping for something, Vortigas simply jumped forward in order to escape it. Of course that didn't go unrewarded, as with his jump, the poltergeist tried yanking him back.

A few moments passed, and V-gas looked back to asses the situation. When he leapt, Bael managed to tore off a rather medium-sized hole in his back alongisde with a rancid looking-liver and other two undetified organs. They seemed lifeless already, but Vortigas could feel them missing from inside him. ''Nice trick'' he muttered, this time using the voice of his enemy. ''But it wont work. Who needs organs when you have been already been dead inside for so long'' Vortigas muttered staring down the poltergeist.

(Last post for tonight)

R'lyeh sat down next to the bear and Kitty sat next to him. "I don't know anything about myself. I woke up in this spot with Kitty sitting next to me. Who are you?" He said, wanting to see who this man was. "Friend? Or are you an enemy?"

A shadow passed over Bael's face though it was not fear. There were shades of disappointment on the expression and other than that, something almost like sympathy. "I suppose I understand that," he responded, then suddenly was gone again, once more dropping his physical form. The room dropped into silence. Bael was, for the most part, very physical when it came to attack. He recalled the unusual way his knife had behaved during the battle with the Lich...

He suddenly reappeared, balanced on a stairway to a balcony of sorts. He pulled out the knife, but it seemed all normal. He leered down at the pair, deciding how else he might be able to kill them.

Just then, the place was stormed. Galleytrot plunged in alongside the agents, but he recoiled and shifted into a human. "They don't—?"

"They're wrong," Sanja whispered, shifting toward the Black Dog. She eyed them, curious and fearful.

Luke nodded. "Let's get going." He summoned his laptop, and climbed into the back of the Assault Team vehicle when it rolled up. Since they were a larger force than normal, this was what they needed. When it rolled off, Luke set the GPS to where the hack source was. He summoned a recon bot. It wasn't designed to attack and was lightly armored, equipped with a very light machine gun. It flew at a very fast speed. It'd get there in about 20 minutes, as opposed to their 30.

The recon bot made it 15 minutes in advance. Luke conducted a thermal scan of the building. "Exactly as I thought, They used the building's power. There are live wires everywhere. One wrong step and it's all over."

As soon as the car got there, and everybody stormed out, Luke summoned a couple of assault bots. These bots flew, as extra weight could complicate things, if not collapse it. The bots made it in, but only 2 survived, as they were either taken out by the live wires, or by the poltergeist throwing random shit everywhere. The bots soon made it to the action, and fired out bursts of machine gun fire at the suspect

Evan was doing some paperwork from a bust a couple of days ago. He got a message regarding the rescue case. He was assigned to drive the assault vehicle. He rolled up to where the group was. "Let's go. The rush-hour traffic starts soon. It'll take about another 10 minutes if we're caught up in it."

As soon as everyone was in the vehicle, it sped off towards the crime scene. Evan went a good 70 miles, shooting through the roads GTA style, expert-like, avoiding everything, desperate to get out of the traffic danger zone.

They avoided most of the traffic, but got caught a little in Arlington, due to a school nearby close to letting out for the day. It delayed them for 5 minutes. they made it though.

Evan got out the car, and swapped his bullets to Frost Rounds- Hollow Points. These bullets were filled with Liquid Nitrogen and enchanted with Ice Magic, which would be release when the bullet mushroomed out, and they'd freeze whatever they hit

He creeped into the building, having to move slowly due to the Live Wires. It was very slow moving. He had some help from the flickering lights all throughout the building. He had to dodge shit flying everywhere. He didn't have time for this.

Carnifex had watched the scrap between Vortigas and Bael from the start. He had originally made a move on the poltergeist, but was thrown out of the way. Instead he found himself rather impressed. Vortigas had never fought that well before. But now back to the task at hand, killing or maiming the poltergeist. This was no easy task. Fighting something immaterial was difficult, unless you could force it to materialize, a tricky move to pull on an angry spirit. But, Carnifex thought if he could use a glyph and hold Bael in place long enough to land a good blow on him, it might just work.

Carnifex laughed mockingly at Bael. "Your just full of hot air kid. Hot air, and pain. I can feel it. Your hurting inside, mourning. You hold onto those memories like it's your soul anchor, and without you'd vanish. Pathetic." Right at that moment Luke's bots burst in and began firing. Carnifex dove out of the way. Carnifex had slowly unveiled his tendrils while standing, and he used the sudden chaos of the gunfire to seemingly merge with the shadows, allowing him to move unseen into the rafters above Bael. Quietly, he fished out a flat object. A glyph stone used to combat spirits. Once active it would force a spirit to materialize for about ten seconds, long enough to disrupt it's energy. Carnifex armed the glyph and sent it hurling towards Bael, aiming for it to land beneath his feet. The glyph landed and activated, dispersing the mist around Bael and forcing him to materialize. Carnifex launched himself at the poltergeist, his right arm now formed into a jagged blade aimed directly at Bael's chest. This probably won't kill him, but it will take him out of the game if I can land this.

@Elias @Sleipnir @Kylesar1

"Bael, move!" Sanja had trained her attention on the skirmish before her and as a spirit Mage, she knew exactly what Carnifex was doing. She did not regard Bael as she threw up her hands and shot a blast of aether Magic at the hallow, knocking at least of his balance in order to give Bael a chance to escape. He shied from the blast, recoiling and backing away from Carnifex and fixing a glare on him.

Bael was, honestly, little more than irritated by his words. It felt like a playground bully: Hebwas right and Bael knew it. He didn't really think that Carnifex really 'got' Bael's motivations — he didn't hold on for the sake of self preservation. He didn't stop to think about this now, though, as Galleytrot shifted into a huge, snarling canine and the department agents stormed the building.

Carnifex landed in front of Bael, dropping down to keep from falling, before standing up and facing the poltergeist head on. He stared at Bael, laughing as he eyed the spirit over. He wasn't much to look at, and a poor fighter to boot. "Your friend is quite the pest you know. That would have been fun. But, seeing as how everyone had finally made it to the party, why not shake things up a bit hmm?" Carnifex pulled out the detonator the agent had given to him earlier and pressed the first button. Down below them, Mark suddenly screamed out in pain as his body began to bloat, before finally rupturing in a small explosion, releasing noxious gas into the air. "Oops, I might have made a mess. Here, lets try this other button." The whole building suddenly shook violently as a shock wave pulsed through the structure. "There goes the support and structural integrity. That was the right button after all.", Carnifex sarcastic commented as he through the detonator over his shoulder before turning back to Bael. "Now, where were we? Right, I was aiming to kill you." Carnifex's body shifted, his clothing tearing as he changed into his feral form and lunged at Bael with talon and tendril a like.
