Fantasy Department of Defense Against the Supernatural

It wasn't long before one of the workers came to get the two Hollows. They were taken into the main room of the secret facility, where they found a screen with Father on the other end. "Good to see you two again. I've got some interesting news that I thought you might want to know." Carnifex tilted his head slightly. "What about the mission?" "Scrubbed, for now, for more than one reason. The biggest and most important being that the Department is crawling over the Marina and Lab incident like flies of a bloated corpse. I've had eyes on both scenes reporting that the Department has officially taken both cases, and that there might have been a witness to the Marina Op." Carnifex looked over at his brother, recalling that strange feeling that something had been watching him. He had blown it off until this point, but apparently his gut had been right.

"What do you need us to do?" Carnifex contemplated the options that were presented. Of course a full on assault on the Department headquarters was out of the question, but a few raids on the agents it employed could be fun. "Right now I need you two to stay on ready status and high alert, we might need use of you two at anytime. I have assets out ghosting the Department, but they are staying in the shadows. No direct contact or infiltration just yet. If something happens you two will be the QRF(Quick Reaction Force), it could mean taking down a single agent or a group, so I've pulled some strings to get some important materials sent your way. From this point on, though, you will receive orders from the Dutchman. Over and out." Carnifex turned to Vortigas. "Well, looks like we're getting Christmas early this year. Come on, lets get to the pit(training room) and get some practice in."

Father turned his chair around to look at the five others in the room. "They will be ready encase we need them." One of the others, an older man around sixty with a long grey beard, spoke up. "Can we trust these Hollows enough to cover our tracks?" "Yes," Father replied, "I have full confidence in those two. Now that they have the stems on route they should be better equipped if they make contact with the Department." Another, this one the scientist father had spoken with before, chimed in. "What about our work? Now that the Department is on our trail we cannot afford a breach into our facility!" The man's Dutch accent was thick, but he spoke clearly enough to get his point across to the whole room. "The Hollows are good, but they are not enough to tackle the whole Department, even if they functioned at one hundred percent of their limits. I say we activate..." Father cut the man off mid sentence. "I will not have the Shadows involved just yet. There is no need to awaken them until the facility in the Black Forest is operational. Then, and only then, would I consider awakening them. They are not assets to be used lightly." The Dutchman sat back down, stroking his beard. "How long until it is Operational?" Father smiled underneath his balaclava. "Within the month. I trust you all will be able to handle things here without me correct?"

The other members of the council all stirred at this announcement. "But sir," the Dutchman started, "you are leaving us?" "That has been the plan all along. I was only here to over see the creation and development of the Hollows. Once operational they were to be left in your care to provide the distraction I needed to set up the Black Forest site. Now, if you'll excuse me, I've a plane to catch."

(This is the last you'll see of "Father" for a bit)

Vortigas felt a great surge of interest, as he heard Father's words. The Department was on to them. Carnifex and him were now a QRF. All of these were a nice change of pace, after so many hunts and small-time misisons, where they killed humans with the least effort possible, Vortigas dwelled in his thoughts as he approached the pit, and eventually entered it. It was an interesting enough place, yet if a normal guy would see it, he would think it's either a mad man's gym or a military supermax. Of course, it was a bit of both. There were training dummies, both artificial, and live ones, mini-hunting ground, and other things where a hollow could do its thing. Vortigas smiled stichely as he looked around the room. ''I'm really curious as to how the Department will search for us. I heard they got all sorts of supernatural creatures. They could send a anthro-mole after us, or something with high seeking skills. I heard they even have a dragon'' he mused loudly as he sharpened his knives for the training.

Greyston turned his attention from the man volunteering who didn't work with them and asked, "Yes, Winifred. Did you want to join too? That gives us... Alexander, Will, melody, Justin, Isabelle, and this man, what is your name?" He asked the guy who didn't work there.

"Well, excellent, you all can get started on this straight away."

Dante was busy looking at the different races because he had never seen anything that didn't look human before. When he was asked who he was, e snapped back to the real world. "Oh yes. I'm Dante. Nice to meet all of you." He replied with a nervous smile. He followed Greyston to wherever they were going.

Somewhere in the southern region of Washington...

A certain criminal organization managed to catch and take control over a cerberus and a hydra, the methods used to obtain them were unknown and they will have forever remained that way, because little did they know...those would have been the last moments of their life. As the criminals were discussing proudly about how they'd use the creatures to make the city theirs Uther appeared out of nowhere...actually he didn't, he just made the illusion of not being there disappear. He was in human form.

''Oh dear, you guys really outdid yourselves. These two will be great snacks. Thank you for the donation'' he said.

'' Who the hell is this psycho and when did he get here?'' asked one of the men. The others tried to subdue him but they didn't get the chance as they were burned to death. The only criminal which remained let out an ''Eek'' as he simingly tried to escape. He didn't try it though. Instead he released the cerberus and hydra. ''Die fucker!'' he said.

20 minutes later...

The criminal stood there in shock and fear caused by the scene in front of him: Uther in his true form , juggling with the multiple heads of the hydra and the cerberus after he consumed their souls. He then threw the heads through the roof with full strength all of them landing in various parts of central DC.

''My oh my...this was actually a though battle'' he said as he transformed back to his human form. He then thought if he should kill the criminal or not. ''I could kill you...but you're not really worth it...hmm. Ah yes...of course'' he added as he generated the illusion of a hideous demon who roared at the criminal , saying: ''I shall tear your soul apart!''. The criminal screamed and gauged his eyes out before he fainted. Hours later he will have died.

William nodded slowly, in agreement, and went out to his van. It was no use to go as a single big group, two smaller groups would suffice and would take more ground. He waited for anyone to join him in the van, so they could be off. As he waited, he sensed a tingling sensation up his spine, and strangely enough a presence. He didn't hav to turn to know who it was. Himself. Looking in the rear mirror, he saw real Will smirking at him. ''So..taking another cases. It seems you have forgotten about my presence'' he said looking around the van's interior. ''Nicely decorated. Perhaps you'll let me keep it, after I break free from my own body and expose what you really done'' he said, a cold smile creeping up his illusionary face. William glared back, then closed his eyes, and opened them again, and this time the back bench was empty. This was going to be a bigger problem than he thought.

Justin sighed lightheardetly, and decided to stick with Dante, as he was kinda the reason Dante was here. Looking for others, he waited to see...

Piper was, for the first time in her life, late for work.

She had returned from her trip to New Mexico and, three separate showers later, came back into the department in order to go back to paperwork. She went straight to her own office in order to work on it, not intending to take any more cases til she had cleared the case from New Mexico. She did not address anyone on her way in. Her feet were sore: In order to reach the intended target, a great deal of hiking had been necessary, which Piper had not prepared for.

Three showers later, she still didn't feel clean.

Sanja, meanwhile, was quietly sitting inside Bael's cell. She didn't speak to him — she just watched, taking notes.

She shruged and dropped her arm and spoke, "Why not, they'll probably need some magical support." before following the others, Bartholomew still perched on her shoulder.

Ahava Font

Ava knocked on Piper's office door and put on her most business-like smile, "Uhm, hello, Detective Reed?" She stepped in, her left hand absent-mindedly brushing off some snow from the right sleeve of her maroon sweater, "My name is Ahava Font, I'm from the evidence warehouse.. The head storekeeper asked me to deliver some papers for you to sign, it's for the boxes from the New Orleans case."

Ava waved the files in her right hand awkwardly, her left hand fixing her glasses. She's not used to talking alone with the detectives, unless it involves some variation of taking down meal orders, so she just stood restlessly on the door, waiting for some kind of confirmation from Piper to get closer, "I-I'll also need to take Detective Greyston's signature after this.." The room temperature dropped slightly as she tried to keep smiling.

Henry stood outside the front doors of the Department, deciding on what to do. He was requested to join by one of its recruiters, but was still hesitant as whether or not to join. He took a breath and walked in, to at least see what kind of set up they had

William's back of the van seemed less like the back of a van, and more like a workspace, for the moment. The whole space has been emptied of chairs or other unecessary stuff, and it was full of papers, stacks of books, and a huge panel, where the Kraken was conducting his research. Up on the panel, two drawn pictures of two masked things stood in front of his eyes. First one looked like a tough guy, probably the muscle of the bunch, but he didn't know for sure. The other seemed to have more of a slim, lean build. This could be the brains. Yet again, both might be highly intelligent, and have powers beyond reckoning. Will grated his eyes over the details he has been left. One interesting tidbit of his deductions seemed the powers. The killings were made brutally, some with great violence, other seemed bashed in. They even found a guy still living, despite having a major laceration on his heart, and what seemed like terminal cancer developed in mere minutes. Perhaps one of them could induce diseases. And the other had some major means of killing. Who was he looking at here? At first glance some would think of War and Pestilence, yet he didn't find a reason for them going after low-life mafia and other-like groups. Were they gods? Mutated humans? Vengeful spirits?

Scribbling a few other details on the board, the back of the van opened and what semeed to be a satyr entered the back of the van, with a stack of what seemed to be pieces of human flesh.

''Marsyas'' William said nodding towards the satyr. ''Got something for me?''

The satyr nodded, and then added in a melodious tone. ''Indeeed. I had to make some connections, and to bribe some, but here they are. Parts from the last killing'' he said dropping a mutilated corpse on the floor of the van. ''Have fun playing mortician'' he said as he got out of the van, then dissapeared into the crowd. William sighed, and started examining the body....

Piper looked up as Ahava approached. She nodded and took the papers. "I'll get Greyston in here soon. I believe he's assigning a case right now. Been some really nasty business around DC recently..." She grimaced. Whatever it was doing the damage, surely it wasn't human. That seemed improbable at the least.

Carnifex and Vortigas had just been called back into the ready room when they found an Agent standing with a brief case. "Here is the package that came for you two." The man laid the case down and opened it up to reveal four small obsidian stones etched with eldritch runes. Carnifex tilted his head as he looked over the stones. "What are they?" The agent smirked. "Stems." Carnifex eyed the agent. "Stems?" The agent raised his hands. "Okay, they aren't traditional adrenaline shots. They are soul stones, containing some powerful souls. The agents took to calling them stems to keep from thinking about the fact that there are human souls stored in those. Each stone contains a concentrated soul essence. Once broken you'll have a temporary boost, maybe five minutes long, but that should be all you'll need."

Carnifex picked up one of the stones and looked at it. He thought for a moment that he could see faces screaming inside the black stone. "Any news on when we will be heading out?" The agent shook his head. "Not exactly sure, but shortly. The Dutchmen is setting up a trap for the Department. He'll have more information when it's ready."

Ava released the breath she didn't realize she had been holding since she entered Piper's office. She nodded somewhat excessively to every word Piper said, "I-I see, thank you, Detective Reed. I'll come again to collect the papers," she coughed and stepped back. She hesitated and inquired in a low voice, "Detective Reed, are you okay?" She scratched her cheek, "Uh- You don't usually arrive late, and you don't look well, truthfully.. Ugh, I guess this is kinda nosy but can I do something for you? Do you need help copying some papers or anything?" She went flustered, "I-if you don't need my help, that's, like, totally okay! I just-err, some people have been concerned with you today, they said you look like you've got a lot on your mind and didn't return their 'hello's.."

Piper felt a grin pulling at her as Ahava began questioning her health and as the younger woman kept talking, it became a smile. "I'm fine," she assured the nervous hybrid. "I was sent on a case into the Cimarron. It involves lots of sloshing in the mud, a demon, and no showers." She hesitated. "...I lost track of how long I was in the shower before I got here, actually.@

Vortigas eyed the stone with great interest, as he cupped it in his hand. It was weird enough, knowing you hold the condensed souls of multiple human beings inside a stone standing in your hand, but after the number of things the hollows have seen, nothing irked him much anymore. Sitting down, he put them in his pockets, and waited...

Justin strolled around the HQ, looking to pass some time untill news on the masked terrors would come. He did a little walking outside, seeing if he was needed there but apparently he was not. He didn't even know what Will was doing in his van.He noticed a satyr walking in earlier, carrying a corpse, so he figured the Kraken was busy doing some informative work, and was probably researching on the kills. He didn't see where Fred or the others were, and Alex was nowhere to be seen. Piper just arrived a couple of time before, but he figured she was not in the mood for chit-chat, after the way she came tired from her case. His thoughts briefly traveled to the pub he used to go before he was in the Department. He got a job from Anansi back there, and he never completed it. Ah Puch, the demonic god of plague, known as the Dealer, was still alive and kicking. He figured someday he was going have to do his job. He still had the bone weapon, and the location of the god's hideout, but he figured the Hollows were a bigger threat than Ah Puch for the moment. Bored, he summoned a sigil and started modyfing it...

"Ah. Um. Great, then. I'm glad. Okay. Thanks again, Detective Reed, see you later," Ava practically sprinted out of Piper's office. Great, Ava, that was smoother than snow. She rolled her eyes at her own awkwardness. Her father was right, she really need more practice being around people. She weighed telling her father about this idiotic stunt later when he called from some Burmese jungle, but decided she might not be in the mood to listen to him making jokes about 'breaking the ice'.

"Ugh, it's getting chilly all of a sudden in here," the werewolf DDAMPSEA employee riding the same lift down with her complained. His coworker agreed, asking innocently what was the white powdery stuff suddenly appearing on the shoulder of his coat. Oh, no. The remark surprised Ava, and she frantically rushed out onto the first floor that the door opened to. Stupid! I should've been more careful than making snow fall inside the lift ag- There was a loud bump, and Ava fell back from the impact, "Ouch," she looked up apologetically towards the blonde man in front of her, the front of his clothes dabbed lightly with snow where Ava must've crashed into him, "I'm so sorry, my bad!"

@RedZombieWolf

Henry was looking around the inside of the building, when he was knocked off his feet. He sat back up and saw that it was a girl who rushed into. "Ow that hurt, you alright miss?" he asked

(I have to go soon but if your character is around the HQ it's easy to meet @Dnaleri017 )

Ahava Font

"I'm really, really sorry," Ava sighed, the man looked a bit older than her, so she wondered whether he was a DDAMPSEA detective, "I'm okay, I just need a little time." She drew in a long breath, trying to calm her nerves down. It wouldn't do for her to run around the department without proper control of herself. She tried to sit up, "Are you a detective?"

Henry stood up and offered a hand to pull her up to her feet, "No, not yet. But I have been invited to become one here." he said "What do you do here?"

Ahava Font

Aw, good job, Ava. Another potential pissed-off detective that will make you buy the hardest lunch to find for them. "I'm a part-timer at the evidence warehouse, my name is Ahava Font," she took his hand absent-mindedly, but she jerked her hand back almost immediately, "Sorry, I just don't want to accidentally freeze you.." She stood back up and looked around, "Uhm, I guess we should get you a visitor name tag and I think I can help you meet your supervisor? I think Detective Reed deals with trainees more than Detective Greyston? Take it as my apology.. Detective..?" Ava automatically searched his chest to locate his nonexistent employee badge.

Henry let out a short chuckle, " Relax Miss Font, I am not as mean as I look." Then he realised he hadn't introduced himself yet, "Oh yeah, I'm Henry Karmozijn by the way, call me Henry, or Blood Hound either will do"

Ahava Font

"Blood Hound?" She never really gets how the DDAMPSEA employees earned their nicknames, they never ceases to amuse her. Ava let out an apologetic smile, "Sorry, I am nervous by nature.. Well why don't we get you an ID tag first, Detective Karmozijn?" She's still not used to calling people with their given name so fast, and motioned for Henry to follow her towards the receptionist's desk. She chatted lightly with the receptionist on duty to ask for assistance, and then turned while the lady printed out an ID for Henry, "Do you know to whom you're supposed to report to? I can help you call them to tell them that you've arrived."
