Fantasy Department of Defense Against the Supernatural

Finally, Sanja arrived at the scene. She jumped back, eyes wide. "...Oh. Um.." She looked around, disoriented.

Piper raised her eyebrows. "Something wrong?" Sanja nodded.

She raised a hand through the air. "It's the, uh — it's odd here. Connection to the dreamscape means I can feel places where portals can open. It's, you know, the effect of Spirit magic. This is one if those places."

"Well, open the portal then, yeah?" Shylock cut in, standing back impatiently. "The sooner we do this, the better."

Sanja nodded and with a deep breath, she raised both hands and opened the portal. "...Ugh. I don't know where that is, but I'm never going back after this." She shot a look of disgust at the portal, then leaned down to the ground and summoned Sundial and the Wolf.

Piper looked at the others. "Ready to go, everyone?"

Liliana smiled at Alan's comment. "Well, I suppose that it is a good thing you didn't then, hmm?" She asked, as the elevator descended into the belly of the mansion. They dropped down the the bottom level- after all, might as well start at the bottom, right? That's where all of the good secrets were usually kept. When they go there, Liliana was the first to step out of the elevator, tensing her hand. She was prepared to summon whatever weapon she may need, and quite honestly was expecting a fight. As she stepped into the large open room, she looked around, searching for something unusual. Then she saw him. She waited for the others to enter before saying anything. After all, Will was lead on this case, and she didn't particularly care to be.

@Archangel Galdrael

Alexander arrived with shylock. He took a deep breath and nodded in response to Piper. "Lead the way, then." He said aloud, not wanting to be the first to step through the portal to... wherever that awful place was. He glanced at Sanja for assurance that the portal would even be safe.

Wednesday smiled at Ronan, and said, "Well, thanks, I suppose. I mean, we just kind of wander, and Caden could almost always use some food. And a bath, honestly, but that's not really your problem. I'm sure we'll hit you up some time again," She said.

@BookWyrm

Will stepped out of the elevator, with Liliana and Alan by his side, his handgun ready for anything. Then he saw Victor sitting down, in the middle of the room, on a chair. He could see papers folded on the desk, the remains of what seemed to be a chair or some furniture, and other useless crap. William directed his eyes towards the man, and their eyes met. Extending a bit of tentacles through his back for any case, William went some steps forward, and stopped in front of the man, metres away. ''You've done us quite a bit of problem here, Superman'' he said jokingly, yet serious. ''The man you killed didn't deserve to die, for your precious thing that you want to steal. Come with us, willing and peacefully and you wont be hurt'' he said staring intently at Victor. @Archangel Galdrael

Justin riled up along with the others, in front of the portal. Everybody seemed to not want to enter that hole of death that lead to the unkown, so he too wasn't too eager.

Readying his weapons, he waited for the others, to step in.

Jeff meanwhile finished smoking a ciggarete, in order to calm down, and he saw the others lingering before the portal. ''Oh come on'' he said, as he gathered his courage, and stepped in headfirst through the portal. He didn't care what was going to be there, or what was happpening for him, but he wanted to save his city, before it crumbled into pestilence and death. Passsing through, he remained breathless. The view ahead was both disgusting, beautiful and mesmerizing at the same time. It seemed so otherworldy. And for now it seemed safe, save from the gigantic swarm of flies flying around. ''Come on guys, he said shotuing back....

Piper grimaced as she stepped onto the disgusting ground. She didn't care to look down at it and see what it was. She looked around, hearing Sanja step through behind her as well as a 'disgusted noise' from what sounded like Shylock, and then she looked back. "Right. Let's find this stupid thing, kill it, and go home," she said, grimacing again.

@Barbas

Justin held back his stomach, when the smell of that horryfing place entered his nostrils. It was horrible. The whole damn place looked like a bad desert/mountainrange, filled with disease, greenish air, swarm of flies, and other weird slimy and disgusting things everywhere. Even the power of the bracelets seemed to be fading in this pestilence filled place. Whooshing two fingers through the air he drew a symbol with his thumbs, and an angel sygil appeared. Activating it, he felt the air around the group loosening a bit, as he invoked a small ''bubble'' of fresh air that floated within the boundaries of the group. Outside the sphere everthying was green like before, but inside, it was more clean. ''That's for you not to puke your innards out. You're welcome'' he said as he stepped forwards.

Jeff breathed some fresh air, as he felt Justin's incantation. His eyes were catching on a palish-reddish hue, due to the surroundings, and he could feel rather dizzy..Seems like even his phoenixess didn't help him here, where disease seemed at it's finest... ''One question though, how do we know how to kill it, assuming we find it, and not die in this god-forsaken place?'' @Sleipnir

"Well," Piper began, looking at the phoenix, "That's the fun part. Trial and error." She didn't look particularly pleased with the answer, but frankness was going to be her best bet here. She too took in a deep breath of fresh air, looking at the group. They were now at the mercy of their little bubble. She suppressed a curse, suddenly wishing she'd brought Galleytrot and Bael. Bael certainly wouldn't be effected and Galleytrot likely didn't really count as alive, either. She wondered if it had been intelligent to take so many people in here.

Jeff didn't look too happy with the response either. ''I see'' he said sighing. ''But I hope you are all aware, that even only a slip in the wrong direction, will have this thing all over us. We can't affor mistakes. For our lives, and for the lives of the city'' he said as he pondered his words. Stepping further, and further, the group went deeper into the mysterious land of Karnak, not knowing what they will find...

Or who they will find...

Allan looked to the suspect in question. He said nothing as William made the threat.

All he did was summon up his signature K9 force, a group of 4 German Shepherds, each imbued with a different element: Water, Ice, Electric, and Poison. They were all led by the 2 headed Orthrus leader, who uses powerful Fire magic.

His dogs simply sat there on standby, not even acknowledging the group's presence.

Victor let out an exasperated sigh, and glanced at the multiple documents, and what little of the formula he had gotten down, as he examined the vicious animals, ready for attack, the long tendrils, protruding from the supposed leaders back, and the mysterious woman, who had yet to act. "I don't expect you to understand my plight, nor do I care to explain it to you. My work cannot - and will not - be halted! Connor did deserve to die, for supposed detectives you know very little of the situation. I'll ask you just once... Let me pass, no more blood needs to be spilled in the name of the law, or science." Victor pleaded, not wanting a fight, yet he still stood from the chair, and using all abilities at his disposal prepared for one. What made him truly dangerous, was not his powers, but his ability to apply intelligence to them, if it boiled down to conflict he would be forced to fight them, three superhumans vs one didn't seem favorable in theory, but he knew better than anybody, it was all about how one uses their powers.

(Reminder)

''I guess I'll serve'' said Evan-Dor. He hit the ball with the racket and launched it towards the left side of Death's part of the field at supersonic speed. Of course for him the supersonic level of speed wasn't much. Through his eyes the energy sphere moved as slow as a normal tennis ball under those circumstances.

@Sleipnir

Listening to everyone's reaction regarding the realm they entered Ethan was happy he couldn't exactly 'see' like a normal human. He could feel the disgusting smell better than others though , but he had the advantage of being able to mentally limit the capabilities of his senses. ''Good thing I have control over my senses'' he said , more like a self-observation than anything else. Then he turned to Justin and ''Will there be any consequences if I exit and re-enter constantly out of this air bubble during the fight? I am a close quarter fighter after all'' he added.

@Elias @Barbas @Kalin Scarlet

William smiled slighty seeing the man's confidence, and courage. In a way, he reminded William of his leviathan brothers. Stubborn, smart, and probably very dangerous. He needed not to underestimate this man. Stepping a little closer, he stared the man dead in the eye. ''Like you said, no blood is to be spilled. But here's the thing. By the law, I must bring you to justice for the murder of Connor Maxime. No matter what he has done, murder is murder, and him being a bad man isn't enough of a defense from your side. So, my original take still remains. Either you come with us'' he said extending more tendrils. ''Or you try to cross us. And blood shall be spillt. Your call'' he said as he flashed his real red eyes to intimidate the superhuman hoping he would make the right call. @Archangel Galdrael

''That's a good question'' Justin said as he stepped carefully over what seemed to be an acid-killed carcass. ''I suppose entry and reentry to the sigil, would only still weaken it, but that wouldn't be a matter. If I manage to draw more during the fight, I could keep summoning others'' he said thoughtfully. ''Oooor'' he said suddenly an idea striking him. ''I got it. I shall ward each of you with a personal-smaller bubble. It should be durable enough to endure the battle and to allow you move freely. Sound like a plan?'' @Azure Sky

Death hit the ball back, then huffed. "So, I wondered if you knew — the President of the United States invited me to a party the other day. Must be repayment for that one thing that happened with the yacht club. I must admit, though, I'm not sure why he thinks having Death at a party would go down well. I might frighten the guests, don't you think?"

@Azure Sky

Piper nodded. "If you can handle it, that would be great," she said. "Being forced to stay all in the same place is dangerous. One casualty becomes five." She looked around the group.

"Hold it, William." Allan looked at the suspect. "I have to wonder what those documents mean to you?" His eyes flashed red. The orthrus's eyes did the same, and he breathed a small wisp of fire. One of the documents which were separate from the rest, ignited in flames. "If they're worth killing someone over, I must wonder how you'll feel if those documents were to be burned by 'accident'" he emphasized accident.

@Archangel Galdrael

@Elias

"Alright, so we have a way to fight. Where's the enemy?" Kyuma said, as his balance breaker declared a fourth "Boost!" At this point, his power had doubled four times, and as his gauntlet's jewel began to glow, he realized he had gained enough power to face whatever they were hunting, which was good news, if quite vague.

Alex was incredibly thankful for the protective bubble of fresh air. He looked around the disgusting landscape and scowled. This place was not at all where he wanted to be. He pulled his swords, clenching his fists around them and staying ready for a fight. "So... Should we call out to them or something? Challenge whatever is here and demand answers?" He asked.

@Archangel Galdrael

Sensing new arrivals to his realm as he creates new diseases in his large cauldron, Karnak pukes out a large swarm of flies and sends them in the direction of the small group. As Karnak watches his swarm of flies fly off in the distance, he shouts in a loud and joyful voice that could be heard throughout his realm. " Welcome to my realm travelers! Come and embrace the blessings of The Plague Father!"

"Out here we might as well," Piper decided. "It isn't as if we could have the element of surprise in this god-forsaken–" she stopped as she heard the Boise of Karnak. She huffed, pulling out her gun. She looked at the others. "Well, I guess we can call it the Plague Father," she said flatly. "Dunno that I'd call anything in this Hellhole a blessing. Let's find it and kill it."

Immediately they moved out, and as they walked, Sanja threw a look at Shylock. "What?"

He was looking at Sundial. "Your horse. It doesn't like me."

She frowned. "Why would you say that?"

"Because it's a horse. All horses hate me," he replied, looking at her, then the horse spirit suspiciously. "It's a bit of a trend I noticed."

''I really don't want to know what his blessings look and feel like'' Justin said shrugging as he heard the voice boom out through the land. ''So, it seems like we have a alien father of plagues on our sides. Well. On the bright side. It's not Pestilence'' he said trying to make it positive. In the distance, a big thick black group of buzzing insects were heading towards them. It looked like battle was imminent. While they were still away, Justin quickly drew other sigils, and fragmented the one they were already in, thus distruting a bubble to each and every one of them. ''Stand ready''

Victor laughed, amused by the animal lover's attempted threat, "Those documents contain centuries of knowledge, but their destruction would not slow me." Victor used his superspeed to instantly grab, and place, the paper with the formula written upon it, within his pocket. Before shooting a glare towards the trio. "The law commands you? The law is made by man, I follow the order of science, that which was created by God. If you will not let me continue in my research... Well, you said it. Blood, will be spilt." Victor stared at the man with the kraken-like limbs, examining their nature, tentacles, origin from the sea, which would dictate they're weak to fire, and can be removed. The dogs, breath fire, intelligence levels unknown, but the two could be used against one another. The man's ability unknown however, along with the woman's.

@Elias @Hel @Kylesar1

"Yeah, but — how do we fight flies?" Piper asked, frowning. Sanja looked over at her.

"Like this," she replied, then raised both hands. She stepped forward in front of the group and swung her hands in a wide arc, creating a wave of astral energy that pulsed out toward the bugs.

''So, it shall be then'' The Kraken said as he extended claws in turn of his fingernails, and his eyes got redder. His tendrils raised from his back, and protuted towards the superhuman, ready to strike at any given moment. Alongside the valkyrie, and the beasts of Alan, they were a fearsome trio, but they shouldn't underestimate Victor. Who knew what he was cooking up in his head? Some plans, no doubt. Stepping towards the man, he attempted to grab him, ready to cuff him with special handcuffs if he wasn't going to comply. Grabbing his arm, he was already intending to cuff him. @Archangel Galdrael

Justin laughed, as he saw the flies disperse.

Jeff started spitting flames through his mouth, eyes and almost everything else that could radiate heat from him. The flies dispersed left and right, feeling the unnaturaly hot fire of the phoenix. Jeff gradually became less and less human, until he was in his full bird form, looming over the swarm of flies. Flamethrowing left and right, he was helping Sanja kill those pests. @Sleipnir

The Mage grinned as the pheonix fought, setting off another Astral pulse to get the last of the flies. Then she leaped on top of Sundial, looking down on the others from her towering spirit horse. "Let's go get this thing!"

Liliana watched. She did not really fear this guy, three against one meant the odds were in their favor- and unless the man was some sort of god they should be evenly matched. She did not want to give away what she could do so easily, though, and wanted the man to make the first move.

Alex watched the two battle the flies. All he had were his swords, and he doubted they'd be too terribly useful.

@Sleipnir

''Can't you just change appearance like I do?'' asked Evan-Dor who jumped into the air at high speed and rotated before hitting the ball, the addition of the centrifugal force made the ball reach hypersonic levels of speed. It was directed to the upper left corner of Death's part of the field.

''Works well for me'' said Ethan in reply to Justin. He then heared Karnak speak and Piper's question about flies. ''What do you mean? Most of them are already dead'' he said after he did a faster-than-the-human-eye-can-follow blade release, then quickly sheathed his sword. The flies seemed alive at first but after roughly 2 seconds the truth could be seen: the flies were cut in half and fell on the ground slowly.

@Elias @Barbas @Kalin Scarlet

Allan was leaning against the wall, calm as always and giving nothing away. He puffed his cigarette, and blew it nonchalantly. "Life was created by God too." he said. "Those who die gets sent to paradise or.underworld. Your line of work seeks to discover what's there eternally. Our line of work seeks to preserve and protect what's limited."

"If you don't need those documents, then why would you kill over them? This is 1st degree murder we're talking about here."

His eyes flashed yellow, and the spiders went to work, weaving webs all around the suspect. They were insignificant at the moment, but soon they'd start restricting movement. His eyes flashed purple, and the other dogs stood up, but was still on standby. They made no move to attack
