Fantasy Department of Defense Against the Supernatural

"I am no mutt," Galleytrot responded, acting offended. "Have you seen me? Aside from that," he added. "It isn't exactly my duty to be nice, is it?"

Sleipnir said:
"Yes," Piper replied. She paused to text their location to Sanja, Alex, and the others. She wasn't sure if they'd need backup. "But not without trying to get an idea of what we're facing."
Galleytrot shrugged. "Nah. I just wondered. I don't really need a job. Just wondered if you'd come to terms with the fact that you won't be fighting for a little while."
"How do we find that out?" Kyuma asked, turning away. He had noticed that he had stared at Piper a bit more than he meant to. "Do you know a spell, or something?"

Piper looked at Ethan. "Any idea what might be on the other side?" She asked grimly. This wasn't the situation she wanted to be in: Kyuma was pointing out something important here. She had no way to tell.

William sighed as he entered the house, brushing his hand against every odd piece of furniture, scraping his feet on the ground, looking for hidden levers, and even poking his tentacles around, in the hope he'll find something. He tried the movie-way, lifting every book from the library in hope it would open, then tried all the lamps, which could have been levers. In the end he gave up, and called Liliana and Allan back at him. ''This is taking us nowhere. Either there's no secret hideout, or it's so hidden, that we won't be able to open it, neither by mistake nor intendently. We could call some digger creatures from back at the HQ, but that would take too much time. What should we do? The killer may still be here'' @Hel @Kylesar1

Justin stood by the entrance of the stadium, exhausted, sweating under his gas mask. He had flown like a maniac over and over again bringing more and more people, while the smog in the air was getting thicker.The flies started swarming around them already, and some were killing themselves trying to reach the people in the enchantment. This wouldn't work for much longer. No matter how many flies and apostles they killed they still were coming, from the unknown source. ''We have to find the things that's doing this. Our plan isn't working anymore'' he said taking his mask off and looking at Jeff. Jeff shrugged and told him: ''I hope the others are on it already''

Vortigas was chilling on a chair back at the Order's HQ. And by chilling, I mean of course, testing different methods of torture. Father told them they were going to be official hitmen for the Order, so he had to perfect his work. Many times, he tried to test his methods on other soul-full people, but each time they succumbed to the pain, rather quickly. He remembered how much torture he endured back when he was human. How much that Order scientist fucker Jaysone tortured him till he couldn't bear anymore. But in a way he had to thank him. Without him, he wouldn't be what he was today. Soulless. Hammering a few nails up the nerves at the tip of his fingers, he felt a surging sensation, stimulant to pain. He was basing his torture after that. What hurt him like this, hurted for the people with souls, 10x times more painfully. So now, he was cutting himself, mutilating himself, but he was learning newer and newer methods. The victims that are going to remain (if they survived Carnifex of course, would have to endure hell with his torture).

Leaning back, on his chair he waited for more orders or anything...

@BookWyrm

''Hmm...Everything is empty. They were here before but their trail ends. I also feel the feint residual smell of gas. A car was here. From the smell it was a pretty luxurious one'' he said. He took out a phone and dialed a number.

Once the other person picked up the phone, Ethan started speaking:''Hey Sammy boy ...The silence has ended. I'd like to ask: if you'd want to invest the last 10 years of your life in a single bottle of toxic wastes where would you go? Mhmm I see. Thanks Sammy, I owe you one''.

''There are some people going around collecting demonic energies and people who know how to use them. Underground stuff'' he said to Piper and Kyuma.

Kyuma looked over at Piper, unsure what she was thinking. "Piper...Ma'am, I'll look inside." Kyuma said, looking up at the building.

She shook her head. "That won't be necessary, but thank you, Kyuma." She looked at Ethan again. "Lovely thought. You suppose this has to do with those people?"

Allan looked over to William, and said. "I think I may be able to find some sort of secret room if it's present. Everybody step back."

The chameleon on Allan's shoulder's eyes glowed red. A magic Circle appeared under Allan. "Detect Life." he whispered. Every living thing in the house glowed. "Gather on me!" he said aloud. There were spiders in the corners of the manor, in places that couldn't be reached by conventional cleaning methods, as well as flies in the house. The spiders on the ceiling dropped down onto his shoulders, while those on the floor crawled to his legs and up to his shoulders, while the flies rested on his fingers.

They all glowed red, as Allen reached into their memories for the past few days. The spiders had seen the murder happen. "Thanks little friends." he said

Allan's body glowed blue. "Animal Loyalty." He said, and all the spiders flashed blue, Strobe-light style, as Allan empowered them with magic. He then addressed the spiders. "What I want yous all to do is to spin magic threads all over the floor and walls. If the killer is in the building, they'll vibrate the webs as they move. If there's a difference in floor or walls, AKA a hollow point in it, The magic in it will be noticeably smaller, due to the fact that it'll take less to vibrate it. That'll point out any secret rooms in the house."

The spiders got to work, spinning their threads all over the place. "Watch your steps." Allan said. "With my enchantments, the spiders will have 10x stronger and stickier silk."

(If you choose there to be a secret room, make the threads vibrate)

''While the pieces of the puzzle seem to fit. Something is wrong. You see, I was investigating a peculiar murder case before comming here. I had a strange feeling that it would be connected to this. But something isn't right. Give me a second'' he said as he concentrated again, this time harder. The pressure of the air, the human smell he felt, the filthy and disgusting extra odor and then it hit him. ''Of course. How could I have been so blind? The <<dirty>>smell I felt here had some similarity with the other case so I belived it would be connected but it isn't. The car was just a coincidence. I might have actually found info on two cases by mistake. Returning to the matter at hand. It was simply the smell of the creature which invaded somehow the human smell. Now it hit me. This inhuman odor was familiar. Not only is it inhuman, it simply doesn't belong to this world. Just like when I went to see the scene where that Yog-Dagor creature died. This is an alien or sorts. The air has simply been contaminated by it. But wait there's another subtle alien smell and it isn't distributed equally so to say within this space. Theory: it is an alien creature which uses other small alien creatures to bring disease. Just a theory though'' said Ethan.

@Sleipnir @Kalin Scarlet

Piper took a breath, turning slightly. "Oh, lovely. We should probably find it, then. That sounds pretty worst-case scenario, so we'll run with it. Should we call for backup?" If it was, indeed, an alien of sorts, she didn't want to face it with only three total agents, one of which was not actually trained by the Department of Defense.

Victor stared intently at the massive pile of paperwork before, him growing agitated at the piled paperwork, "Gah! It isn't here... Why isn't it here?!" Once more, he skipped through the file, the information he sought once more evadng his hungry eyes. "The formula... I'm so close! This cannot be... IT CANNOT!" With a burst of rage Victor through the chair he had sat upon across the room, shattering it as was to be expected... Defeated, he collapsed against the wall, cursing his luck. The only other person who possessed such a formula was the President, or the Vice President. He'd never be able to survive if he killed either, every agency in the country would drop everything in favor of finding Victor... No, there had to be another way!

Once more, he paced across the laboratory, hidden nearly 100 feet under the manor. As a former scientist, and some research on poor old Connor Maxime, Victor had found the passage rather easily. Though he'd soon discover how good his pursuers were, the police had been there for a few hours. If he was to guess, the top cats of the investigation team were there now. No matter, surely they could not find the passage... Victor had time, time to come up with a new plan. Maybe rearrange the formula... He had no choice, time was currently of the essence. Rushing to the scattered files across the floor, he scooped up those most important and dumped them on a testing bed - likely used for all manner of experiments - before digging into the various essays of information, looking for something, anything that could aid him in his goal.

(I put this earlier, it confirms that there is a secret room, that leads further underground)

''Ok. So the first one to reach score 1000 wins. Does that go well with you?'' asked Evan-Dor. He was ready for action. He covered his body in a powerful force-field. Just in case the ball hit him.

(reminder)

''Most likely. I can heal 10 times faster than a peak human and am highly resistant to contaminats, but that alone is not enough to fight this alien danger. I also have no idea where it hides. The trail stops here. Either it hides its tracks or...it generates portals. Regardless, if its as big a problem as I think we will need quite some back-up'' said Ethan.

@Sleipnir

"I'll call for the others," Piper assured him. She hit the bluetooth. "Ladies and gentleman, we're now running on what we assume to be a worst-case situation. If you are at a point that you can stop and head to our location, I'll be texting you our address and we're going to prepare to kill... something. It could be very bad."

Death nodded. "Oh, yes, 1,000 works perfectly well." He picked up his racket and readied. "Who serves, then?"

(Lelz death and Evan-Dor just...
Playing tennis. Because why the heck not?)

"Someone needs to know what this thing is, if we're going to kill it, Piper..." Kyuma said looking up into the sky. He glanced at Ethan. "Otherwise, alot of people are going to get hurt. Our people."

'Damn it! I'm still absolutely useless here. I'm not the strongest, the smartest, and I sure as hell don't know the first thing about investigation. What am I even good for...' he thought to himself, sighing as he did.

@Sleipnir

"We need to find a portal or better tracking, depending on the situation," Piper replied. She sighed, then looked at Kyuma. She was tempted to inform the boy that she'd not been out on a mission without Greyston in over three years, and before that, she hadn't been trusted with any sort of authority. This was no place for weakness, though. "I'm aware that we don't now what this is, but I want everyone here for when we do know. If we get lucky, it'll be easy. A smaller thing. If we aren't so lucky, though, we'll need backup."

Sanja stood up. "Piper needs us." She looked at Fred. "We oughta get out there. Hope you're ready." She looked a bit nervous.

@OriginalDaydreamer

''I guess I'll serve'' said Evan-Dor. He hit the ball with the racket and launched it towards the left side of Death's part of the field at supersonic speed. Of course for him the supersonic level of speed wasn't much. Through his eyes the energy sphere moved as slow as a normal tennis ball under those circumstances.

''As long as this thing is at most as durable as steel I can cut it'' said Ethan. Of course , he told a half-lie. If he entered Fused Shadow Form it would increase his stats to the point where he'd be able to cut even diamond. Then again, Piper and Kyuma didn't know that his walking stick actually contained a hidden monomolecular blade.

@Sleipnir @Kalin Scarlet

Liliana was still wandering around outside of the home trying to find any way that he would have escaped. There were no broken windows, and most of them were closed. It seemed unlikely to her that whoever was responsible just walked out the door, but not impossible. She sighed, surely he's still inside, then. Liliana headed inside, and to the room where the murder happened. She leaned agains the wall by the fireplace then realized something- the fire burning there didn't seem to be giving off any heat. Plus, when she was outside she noticed that the only chimney was on the opposite end of the house...

"Hey, guys. Think it's got anything to do with the fake fireplace here?" Liliana asked, leaning down and experimentally moving her hand closer to the fire.

Alexander got the memo, and motioned for Shylock to go with him as he headed to meet with Piper. His worries were temporarily put to rest. If they needed help, surely it was fightable.

William nodded as he went towards Liliana, making sure not to step on the magically altered spiders as he moved. Reaching the fire place, he passed his hands over the presumed fire, and noticed that he aswell, wasn't recieveing heat. ''Interesting'' he said. ''Hold on'' he just spoke as the spiders, finally reached their whereabouts. The silkening of the presumed area notably took shorter time to vibrate, so that was their cue. The fireplace was probably the secret hideout they were looking for. Calling Allan and Liliana to him, he readied his gun, and made sure his tentacles would extend properly if he were to use them, then stepped in front of the fireplace, and started looking for levers. ''Find something that could open it'' @Hel

@Kylesar1

Justin reached Piper after doing all the work alongside Jeff. Reaching the others, he saluted them, then got briefed. They were dealing with an alien being afterall. No Pestilence. No abomination. It was probably a Yog-Dagor species-like after what he heard till now. Would these tentacled-gooey monster ever leave them at peace? You couldn't even blow your nose without some freak attacking the global population of Earth. Cool it off aliens, I mean seriously. He dwelled at these thoughts, as he recited himself some healing incantations for health. The air was getting noticeably more thicker, and Justin was starting to lose his aura, even with his gas mask. ''We should hurry'' he said. ''People won't last longer''

Just then, Jeff landed in a flurry of flames, in his true form, screeching as he turned into a human visage again. ''I don't care what the fucker wants with us or what is he. I want him out of my damn city'' he said as his eyes were burning. Taking place near Piper, he turned his head over the looming Detroit. Resist a little longer, Detroit. Be strong..

@Sleipnir

Piper nodded. "Good. With that attitude we might get the job done." She looked around at the assembling team.

The Order's headquarters was a strange place, perhaps even daunting to one who was not familiar with the building(or alternate dimensions for that matter). The area that Carnifex and Vortigas were given was something between a specialized containment cell, a dungeon, and a five star suite. The layout was simple, the Hollows didn't need much in the way of amenities. It was mostly an open chamber that was affectionately called the Pit. Carved obsidian and a generally grey and black color scheme, along with intangible and unorthodox designs allowed the Hollows a sanctuary of complex chaos, something that would drive a normal creature to insanity. Carnifex was across the floor from Vortigas, maybe six feet away, eating the carcass of some unfortunate....something. Maybe it had been human, maybe something else. At this point it just looked like meat. He looked up from his meal to watch Vortigas. His brother had a strange fascination with pain, more so than his own. Carnifex enjoyed dishing it out yes, but his manner was efficient and merciless. He didn't tone down his methods, there was no fine tuning between kills. It was kill, and kill again. Simple, pure, and blissful. But Vortigas had a measured approach to pain. His methods were slow, tedious, and thought out well in advanced. Carnifex remembered a kill that took Vortigas a full month to complete. His brother treated his kills like a ritual, a ceremony that must be completed exactly the way it was planned out for it to be effective.

They were artists, the two brothers. One was pure and raw, beastly emotion, the other was exact, measured, and accurately detailed. Alone they were terrifying, but together they were unspeakable. That is what made these two click as a team. Carnifex watched Vortigas intently, finally having to break the silence. "Do you ever wonder if we're the only ones? I know we're the first, but there has to be more of us right?"

-------

Ronan scratched the back of his head, trying to think of something else to say or do. "Well," he finally broke, "I guess I'm going to go back inside. Is there anything you two need? I mean, I don't really know what you guys would use, but I felt awkward not asking." Ronan had always been one to help out, even during his better off days back in LA. Unlike some of his coworkers Ronan had lived in a modest apartment and didn't really spend much on himself, choosing to use his excess to help others who were less fortunate. "Like I said, drop by if you two are in the neighborhood, but if you do happen to walk through the wall I might be a tad under prepared.", he laughed.

@Elias @Hel

Vortigas raised his eyes from the ''research'' he was doing on himself. ''Interesting question'' he said after a few moments of silence. ''But no. I suppose not. Or not yet anyway'' he said as he removed a nail from his neck, that he put there in order to test the neck's nerve system. ''Father bulit us with a purpose. There is a reason we are merely prototypes. We are probably stil in the process of their study, if you think about it. They are always watching us. Fairing on missions. Doing our dirty work...I bet they're watching you, right now, eating that chunk of dead meat'' he said as he looked around their weird accomodation. ''The reason? My guess is they are still learning from us, in order to make the others they would do, more perfect in nature'' he said as he halted to a finish. He wasn't used to talking this much but, however he was bored. ''But then again, who knows? Maybe we aren't the only prototypes in the Order. Why do you ask? Do you feel lonely, brother?'' he asked turning towards his fellow prototype. ''Or is curiousity simply starting to touch you?'' @BookWyrm

"Or..." Liliana said. She may be taking a risk here, who would want to enter their secret place so in such in undignified manner, after all? She moved to the fireplace, crouched down so that she could enter it and reached a hand out and through the fire, like she suspected it didn't burn her, and her hand went straight through the wall behind it. Without dropping to her hands and knees, she stepped through th fireplace and the brick wall behind it. Seeing there was room to stand on the other side, she did so, and looked around.

What she was met with was a very small room, one that was empty, and had buttons on one of the walls. "It's an elevator," she called back through the fireplace. Then she waited for them to join her.

@Archangel Galdrael @Kylesar1

Allan scoffed. "Seems legit then." He crouched through the fireplace, to where Liliana was. "I was 2 seconds from summoning something to destroy the fireplace." he said under his breath. He called in the spiders to him. "Scout ahead and destroy any traps you find, if there are any."

He waited for all the rest of the crew to show up

@Archangel Galdrael

William laughed slightly as he entered the elevator, alongisde Alan and Liliana. ''Great deduction, Valkyrie. You're a real piece of work'' he said nodding in a friendly manner. Looking around, he noticed different buttons laying on the little room's wall, and he waited for the spiders to scout ahead, then pressed a button amongst those, when the spiders proved the first floors to be atleast safe. ''Here we go'' he mused.

@Archangel Galdrael

Victor scribbled frantically on a blank piece of paper, determined to get something at least close to the formula, the ingredients were missing, but he could damn well try and guess using his own extensive knowledge. Yet having superhuman capabilities, came with even the smallest moments of help, his extended vision allowed him, even when barely concentrating, to pick up on the buttons beside the wall, a familiar red light flaring up, revealing the elevators movement. "...Crap, I'm outta time." He dejectedly mused to himself, realizing his pursuers were obviously not the police, but in fact, the Department, with no other option, Victor fell onto the nearby chair, preparing for whatever followed.
