Sanja shook her head. "No clue," she said. "He's only just gotten here. I mean, Galleytrot's done this before, but he didn't react like that," she added, grinning. She made a mental note to go down to talk to Bael later. "Anyway, let's go eat," she repeated, dodging a filing cabinet this time.
Kyuma nodded smiling nervously as he ducked behind a desk. "Y-Yeah, lets go..."

"You know the story with him?" Alexander asked the pair as they walked towards the 'cafeteria'. "He's a ghost right? So he's got to have a story. He's from what... the... 1900's? Ish? I wonder if it was an unsolved murder or something." He shrugged, done speculating for the time being. He was about as curious as Sanja, about everything.

When they got to the cafeteria they were presented with a wide variety of things to eat for breakfast all in a buffet style. All they had to do was swipe their employee cards- or for those who lost cards too often, like Alexander, provide a fingerprint. Employees were allowed in three times a day- one for breakfast lunch and dinner. Those who lived at headquarters were allowed a fourth swipe, but the selection was not nearly as broad during the late hours. Alex made his way over towards the bar that had a full English breakfast and gathered up eggs, three sausages, beans, two pieces of toast, a hash brown, and three thick slices of bacon. He figured that should be good enough for a first plate, he then went to go find where the other two had gotten their food from before finding a table with them.

@Kalin Scarlet @Sleipnir

Liliana, meanwhile, was sitting at her table and sipping at her milk and finishing the last of her 'open' sandwich, consisting of ham, cheese, tomato, and just a touch of jam. She watched the others when they entered and wondered what would be in store for the day. She was not a particularly friendly person, but there were plenty of empty seats by her. She wondered if she would be fine with them joining her table and decided that she would be, but she would not offer it.

In the back ground she noticed what was playing on the TV. She'd been there for that interview, and that was definitely
not what Piper had said. Nor how she had said it. She sighed. How was it that the news in D.C. was turning against them when the national stations were still singing their praises for dealing with Yog Dagor in New Orleans so quickly? What more did they want?

"Yeah, I wouldn't be too surprised if he was with them. I know the other guy is- Aquino is his name. Well, I'm gonna shoot off an email to the guys in Detroit as my hands are still working. I knew that people were getting sick but I didn't realize it was so bad. By the way, how did they get here? I'll get ahold of the CDC too, we don't want whatever he has spreading. I certainly don't need to catch it, anyway. You can take care of dealing with them, get Aquino somewhere where some healers can take care of him. Usually anything that vampires catch are only transferred through fluids, you know, blood? So it should be fine to take care of him." Greyston finished his dialogue with Piper then turned back to his computer to send off an email.

'Jeff,

Hey! It's Cornelius Greyston, head of the DC branch. We've gotten wind of some issues you guys may be having. I heard even the vampires in Detroit are getting sick, and that's a bit of a huge deal. Do you guys need a hand? I can send out some of my best to figure out what's going on out there, I'm sure you've already gotten the CDC to help quarantine the city, right?

Either way, I'll have a team ready to go if you need them. This doesn't seem like a normal epidemic.

Cornelius Olivier Greyston,

Head Detective at Washington, D.C.

Department of Defense Against Malicious Paranormal, Supernatural, and Extraterrestrial Activities.'

@Sleipnir @Elias

Kyuma had stacked his plate full of pancakes, eggs, bacon, and sausage, with a side of yogurt topped with granola, and orange juice. "Man the department really takes care of their people, don't they?" he said as he walked away to look for the others. He paused for a moment when he laid eyes on Liliana, the beautiful woman who had laid him out on his first day. "So she decided to stick around, huh..."

@KattRai

"Yeah, they sure do." Alex said, "So, where do you guys wanna sit, then?" Alex looked around the cafeteria, and spotted Liliana. She seemed alone, and there were enough seats for the trio to join her, but he wasn't going to sit there if the others didn't want to.

When Fred finally comes to its just before sunrise as far as she can tell, her vision at first out of focus but rapidly clearing. She felt like crap, and that was putting things mildly. Her hair was oily, her clothing grimey, and she felt as if she hadn't showered in days. Standing to her feet she exits the room and after wandering for a few minutes she's directed to the locker room. She shower for nearly an hour before producing the necessaries from her seemingly bottomless bag as she needs them. Deeming herself clean she produces a new outfit from thr bag before finding her way to the cafeteria to fill her empty stomach.

Sanja filled her plate, getting herself toast, a Sausage, bacon, and a large cinnamon roll waffle. She got herself a cup of hot tea with it. "Why don't we sit with Liliana?" She asked. "I mean, assuming she has no problem with it." She had considered Alex's questions, realizing that she didn't know much more about Bael than he did. She would definitely look into it. She shrugged, walking over. "May we sit here?"

Piper nodded and returned to our office. Shylock immediately sat up, giving her his full attention. "Okay, we've talking about it. Apparently this isn't the report on this we've had... If you don't mind me asking — how did you get here? Uh, if you want, we have some healers who can look at your friend."

Shylock nodded. "We took the train," he said in passing before adding, "Yes, if you could that would be wonderful."

Piper nodded and texted Sanja. She looked at her phone. "Piper texted me," she said. "Got someone for me to look at. I'll have to leave as soon as I'm done eating."

Liliana looked at the group again, noting with disdain that the boy with no manners or sense of decency was with them. It didn't really matter, though, she supposed. She could use some friends. She motioned for them all to sit, "I don't mind." She told them, then noticing Fred wander in she raised her arm, waving the witch over. She hadn't seen her since the fight when Fred sealed the portal before passing out.

"Who's she want you to go look at?" Alex asked, taking a seat across from Liliana and to the right.

A few minutes later she manages to find her way there. She grabs a cup of oj and heaps a plate high with bacon, eggs, and pancakes. Acknowledging Lilliana, she makes her way over and plops down beside her unceremoniously.

"Good morning Lil, and strangers that I've either never before seen in my life, or just fail to remember. " She says with a smile before taking a large bite of pancake and following it up with a sip of juice

Jeff was sitting by his computer when the e-mail arrived. Taking a look at the email he sighed in relief. ''Thank god, the cavarly'' he said as he typed back.

Hey Cornelius, long time no speak. Anyway, yes, I could use some help around here. It's been a shitstorm these past few days, and it's honestly quite tiresome. I would really appreciate it if you could send some lads. The CDC didn't unfold much. Some of the diseases we are getting are normal, some are normal mixed with others, and some we couldn't even identify. Something is definitely at work here. So...see what you can do. Again, help would be appreciated.

Jefferson Tully

Head of the Detroit Branch

Justin managed a smile, when he saw Fred coming and sitting at the table. He had been watching her the past few days, while she was still out, and the others watching her aswell took notice. They probably even told her or gossiped about it. Tilting his head down to the mashed potatoes in his plate, he smiled slightly and continued his lunch.

Meanwhile, William follow Melody, but seeing everything was ok for now, grabbed a plate, and started eating aswell.

Sanja shrugged. "She didn't say." She began working on her food, then looked up at Fred. "I'm Sanja," she greeted. "I'm one of the interns. Spirit mage. You know how it is." She continued working on her meal, eager to figure out what all this was about. Who was needing healing? After she finished, she stood up. "Okay," she said, "I should probably head off. Need to get the thing taken care of."

She went to one of the healing rooms, stopping dead when she saw the two vampires accompanied by Piper. "...Vampires don't get sick," She pointed out blankly. "Um... have one of you been hurt in some way...? Or...?"

Shylock turned to look at this healer, caught off-guard by her age. She didn't even dress like a full agent. "Uh, no," he finally said. "He's sick."

Sanja went over and sat down in front of them. "Any idea what with or how he got it?"

"No, not really," Shylock looked away and immediately, Piper and Sanja had their attention on him. He looked between them sheepishly. Obviously, neither believed him and honestly, he couldn't blame them.

"...You sure?" Sanja asked. He didn't say anything else, though. "Okay, then." She immediately started working on Kidlat, quiet and intent. It took her a couple minutes, but before long she had him in good shape. She stood up, and shot Shylock a smile before turning to Piper. "D'you need anything else?"

"No," Piper shook her head. "You can go."

With that, Sanja headed back to the cafeteria, grabbing another plateful of food. She sat back down, looking at her friends.

Liliana smiled at Fred and asked, "You tired, Fred? You've been sleeping long enough." She meant it to be a joke, but her voice was a bit harsh and could sometimes make her sound more serious than she intended. Her smile should indicate her state of mind well, enough, though, she assumed. She turned to the others, trying to remember their names to introduce them when Sanja cut her off with an introduction, then Alex did, too. The other boy was not one that she cared to show that she remembered his name, so she let Kyuma introduce himself.

After Sanja introduced herself, Alex cut in himself, "I'm Alexander." He said, nodding with a friendly smile.

After swallowing down her morsel she would smile at each and introduce herself. "Fred." She chuckles at Liliana's joke. "Any longer and you all might have started calling me Sleeping Beauty. At least I hope thats what I'd be called." She replies having a small laugh at her own expense.

She gives Justin a coy smile before speaking, "Morning Superman."

After the others introduced themselves, Kyuma waved. "Hi, I'm Kyuma. Nice to meet you!" He said, before glancing at Liliana for a second. 'Guess she still hates my guts...' he said, before going back to his food, looking up once to say goodbye to Sanja as she headed off for something important."So...Liliana, you're staying here now?"

@KattRai

"Yeah, Sleeping Beauty would definitely be the name." She said with a bit of a laugh, herself. Then she turned her attention to Kyuma. "Yes, I am staying here now, with a very tightly locked door, might I add, and an infinite arsenal on my nightstand." She did not care for the boy at all and wanted to make sure that was perfectly clear- in case decking him when they met wasn't clear enough for him.

"Nice job, by the way. You are the one who closed that portal, right?" Alex asked, turning to look at Fred, he noted the infinite arsenal thing that Liliana said and decided that maybe it would be best to ask about that in a bit. He was learning that he should give one person time to answer before questioning the next.

Sanja glanced between them, then looked around her curiously. She didn't say anything but seemed rather distracted.

"You said there are others?" Piper asked Shylock as she texted Greyston. 'When do we send a team?'

"Yes," Shylock replied slowly. "We... There's a few of us that are getting sick. Other species are worse off, though. You'll help, then?"

"Yeah. We're sending a team to help the Department out in Detroit." She looked up at the red-haired vampire. She texted Greyston again. 'Who do we send?'

Kyuma laughed nervously, and raised his hands in mock surrender. "Yeah, I got it...listen, I obviously didn't give the best first impression when we met, and I apologize. I'd appreciate it if you gave me another chance. I am a complete pervert, yes, but besides that, I'm a really nice guy trying to make friends. Promise." He said to Liliana.

She smirked at Liliana's reaction to the new guy then turned her attention to Alex, "Yeah, and it was no cakewalk..." she says adding emphasis to the word "no" "That spell is the reason that I've been out cold these past few days." She pauses to take a sip of juice before speaking again, "Invocations like that should only be used as last ditch efforts, they can drain you of your mana and do worse things than knock you out if you haven't got enough rest." After mentioning her light coma she turnes to Liliana and asks, "How is Greyston doing? Has he woken up yet?" Concern coloring her voice.

'Right, yes, we are sending a team... You'll head it up, so take your pick. You can have Liliana or Alex, Justin.... and three others, whoever you want to take. Just not Bael. We are NOT getting that one back out any time soon. '

Greyston texted back.

"Well," She said, then she sighed. "Yes, fine. You've already blown your first impression, though, still, so that much you've got to fix your impression yourself." She added, if he treated her like she was just... A guy or something, instead of reducing her to her gender she wouldn't hate him so much. She then Turned her attention to Fred.

"Yeah, he woke up a bit ago actually."

Kyuma smiled normally, nodding. "Right. Well, I appreciate the chance. I won't let you down, Liliana."

Piper suppressed a smirk at the text. Definitely not. We just got the lobby in shape. We won't be remodeling again any time soon.

She then looked up at Shylock. "You and your friend will stay here in quarters provided by the department until we leave. We need to monitor your friend until he's well," she said.

Shylock nodded. "Okay," he replied uncertainly. "I suppose we can live with that. Uh... So... I just wander around here until then...?"

Piper nodded. "Yes, basically."

"...Oh." Shylock stood up. "If I may, then..." Piper nodded, and Shylock left to explore the building a bit.

Sanja tilted her head, listening to them. She didn't really care to know what impression Kyuma had made. She turned to look at the TV, then returned to eating. She could almost hear something from the Dreamscape but couldn't catch the words.

She lets out a sigh of relief before continuing her meal. She gestures to the relative newcomers before asking with a playful pout, "If the departments gone on a recruitment drive wheres my invite?" Her overly exaggerated tone makes it clear that her pout is entirely fictitious, but there is a slight edge of curiosity within it that indicates that the inquiry is sincere, in wondering whether or not she has been extended an invitation.

Finishing her food she tucks a stray lock of hair behind her ear before disposing of her scraps and taking her tray to to sit with the others. Finishing this she sits back down, crosses her legs, and begins idly fiddling with the tops of her stockings as she glances around the room.

'Wow, she's pretty good looking too...I wonder if she's wearing panties under that skirt...' he thought to himself, considering a peek until he remembered his promise to Liliana, and returned to his food, eating much more vigorously than before.

'Cool it, Kyuma. Pull it together! Be a gentleman...'

"So you mean to say you're not a part of the department?" Kyuma asked, glancing up at the girl.

Once engaged she uncrosses her legs so that she can sit up a bit straighter.

"No, idea..." She says honestly, "Everything happened pretty quickly during the 'incident'..." she makes air quotes as she says the word incident,

"It was a do or die situation and they needed every available resource, even ones that were off the books. And I chose to do. As did Liliana."

She says with a grin giving her a light pat on the back. "She was actually in my shop and about to be my first customer when we both heard the lich's broadcast. And the rest is recent history." She says with a shrug.

Sanja leaned forward onto the table. "Greyston said everyone who helped. I imagine you count," she chipped in. "After all, Piper said everyone too."

Shylock eventually found the cafeteria, and made his way in. Piper had given him a card so he could enter. He went to the drink bar, making himself a sort of latte. He turned, seeing the group, and immediately recognized Sanja. He made his way over, and hung back several moments before approaching. "Hi there," he said sheepishly. "Sanja, yeah? I, uh, Reed asked me to stick around til she sends a group to Detroit. Thanks again for helping is out - if I'm not intruding...?" He looked up at the group, hoping for approval to sit with them. He didn't expect it, though.

"Sleeping women don't typically hear sweeping proclamations." She says playfully.

She looks up at him and answers, "The more the merrier." Spotting the newcomer's drink she muses aloud , "That looks yummy..." before standing. "I'll be right back." She she says to them before heading over to the espresso maker.

Once at the machine she begins layering the syrup, milk, foam, and espresso before topping it all off with a caramel drizzle. All the while tapping the toe of her pointed boots on the floor and hummimg a nameless tune. Slipping a coffee stirrer into her mug she walks back over to the table and sits down before taking a sip.

Her eyes close momentarily as she savors the myriad flavors before speaking, "That is one good espresso machine."

Leaning back in her seat, she pulls one knee up and begins to nurse her espresso as she contemplates what all might have transpired during her 'absence'.
