Fantasy Department of Defense Against the Supernatural

''Yeah. I get you'' Justin said nodding. ''However, watch out for that one'' he said pointing to Bael. ''He tends to be kind of a dick. He tried killing our leader a couple of times now, just because he is a vampire. He is kinda racist against vampires'' he said as he concluded. ''Anyway, nice meeting you Sanja'' he said as he noticed it was getting dark outside. ''Until next time'' he said as he left. He didn't intend to go to sleep yet, but he did go to the room where Fred was being cared of. Sitting down on a chair, he waited near her bed. He wanted someone to be there for her when she woke up.

William meanwhile was on the roof of the Department HQ. It was cool out here. You could see a big part of the city, and if someone ever had suicidal tendencies, they could jump from here, he thought as this sadistic joke went through this mind. Loosening a smirk, he leaned over the bars, and gazed in the night. He wondered about what they were going to do next. He had to get more friends, if he wanted to be someone in this HQ. Doing all of this by himself, will only let him down. Sighing, he went to search for Melody, and he found it. At least that way, he was not going to feel bored or lonely.

Sanja grinned. "Oh, to be around this long and to be a seventeen year old boy, he's got to be," she said, saluting slightly as he left. She threw another glance at Bael. What had made him so intensely against vampires? Surely he couldn't have been raised with quite that much hatred for another species.

But then, maybe he was. She shrugged and wandered off. She was certain her apartments were totally ruined and decided that tonight she'd stay here. She went to Piper. "Hey, Ms. Reed?"

Piper looked at her. "I don't think I like that. 'Ma'am' or 'Piper' will do fine. What did you need?"

"Are there spare rooms here? I imagine many of us have nowhere to go right now — me included."

Piper nodded. "Upstairs should be greatly unaffected. But I do have a question," she added suddenly.

"Hm?" Sanja turned back around.

"Bael." Sanja frowned, cocking her head slightly. "Can you corral him back to his cell?"

Sanja paused to think. "Hmm... Well... I can tell you he's very strong. I'm not. I'm a spirit Mage, yeah, but he's a little different. I mean, he's a sort of spirit but he's from here, you know? Maybe I can touch him, but he's so much stronger than I am, and I don't know how much Aether magic can do against him. I mean — no different than anything else. I was wrong assuming he utilizes Nether magic. Um." She paused, then refocused on Piper suddenly. "...No, I think not."

Piper sighed. Galleytrot was nowhere to be found. Likely, the Black Dog was very busy right now. "Sleep in Greyston's room. I can bring you a cot. I want someone with him if Bael gets to run loose."

Sanja nodded. "He might just go home," she ventured. Then she turned to leave, almost running into Kyuma as she made her way down the hall. "Sorry," she said cheerfully. "Wasn't paying attention."

Kyuma turned, noting the girl almost running into him. "Oh...its no problem..."

'No problem at all, sexy thang! I mean, look at those sexy gams. I could lie my head on those all day...' He thought, his perv face returning in full. He didn't care much for anyone who might see it.

Seeing everyone else heading their own direction, Liliana decided that it was time for she, too, to get some sleep. "Hey, Piper, Do you guys have a spare room I can use? I'll probably take you up on that offer to join the Department if it comes with a paycheck. I don't have anything else to do with my time."

Wednesday watched and looked at Bael. "So... Why do you want to kill the vampire guy so badly?"

Sanja shot him a smile, then turned to go. She stopped suddenly in the hall, looking around her curiously in the hall. Then quietly, she said, almost to herself, "...Wolf?" Then she sat down on the floor, tracing her had along the ground. She fell back suddenly, a large spirit wolf leaping into her lap. She laughed, the. Turned bck to Kyuma. "...Sorry. I didn't introduce myself. I'm Sanja, and this is my wolf." She put a hand on the spirit creature's head. "I was just going to look for a cot. And you are...?"

Piper sighed and then looked at Liliana as she approached. She nodded. "Yeah, we have a spare room. Plenty, I think. And yeah — we couldn't offer you a job without paying you," she pointed out.

Bael suddenly turned sharply on Wednesday, the demeanor he usually held toward her gone. Suddenly, Wednesday was no different than anyone else to him, and apparently, she had asked the wrong question. "Why I want him dead isn't your concern!" He snapped at her, squaring up to the ghost bride. He looked as though he actually might attack her, and glaring her in the eye, he did not relax.

"I'm Kyuma Igniel, nice to meet you. I kinda just got here today. I don't really know what I'm supposed to do, now..." He said, looking over at the girl and her...Pet, perhaps? As he snapped out of his perverted daze.

"Um, you realize you have a giant wolf on your lap, right? Wait, what am I saying, of course you do, what I meant was...why do you have a wolf sitting on your lap?"

She grinned first at Kyuma then at the giant spirit pinning her to the floor by weight alone. "He's kinda like a pet," she explained. "But not. He doesn't have to stay, but he does, so he's more a friend. See, the plane he exists on is parallel to our and he roams the same places I do, only on his plain. And he can sense me, and I can sense him — so I pulled him through to see him."

"Oh, I get it, so he's kinda like a familiar, huh?" Kyuma asked. He was new to actually observing all of these supernatural things, but he'd read his fair share of stories on the matter. It was safe to say he had a grasp of Mainstream ' supernatural phenomenon.

"Calm down, all you had to do was say you didn't want to tell me, okay?" Wednesday said, regarding him with as much apathy as ever. "I got it, none of my business, fine. I just figured that you show everyone you hate the guy so much that the reason why wouldn't be a big deal. I guess I was wrong, go figure." She watched him to see if he would calm down. She wasn't afraid of him. The last time she was afraid was the night she found herself being drowned in a bathtub, after dying, to her, everything else just seemed... eh.

Liliana nodded and headed up to find an unused apartment, or just a room. She was too preoccupied trying to sort the souls of the dead to interact with others- it was far more difficult to keep track of all of the threads from the ground than from her usual place in the sky.

Melody saw William make his way up near Greystons room and thought it may be more fun to go and hang out with Will. It had grown bored of helping the guy guard Greyston, and appeared as a young boy nearer to William. "What's up dude? What's up with all our friends?" It sang, pulling from Relient K's "Hoopes, I Did it Again".

@Elias

"Well, that was all very interesting..." Kaelin said to himself, looking out over the wrecked city with his book in hand. He had taken refuge on the roof of one of the taller buildings, deflecting one of the meteorites that might have destroyed it otherwise. He now sat on the edge of said building.

"I must admit, that all was almost more interesting than my book. I wonder who those people were...the ones who fought back those dark beasts...oh well, I guess I may never know."

Sanja grinned and laid on her back, the big spirit flopping his head onto her chest. She nodded. "Yeah, sorta," she replied. After a minute she sat up, realizing she was dozing. The wolf let her up. "Well! I need to go find that cot!" She stood up, smiling at Kyuma again. "Nice meeting you!"

Bael scoffed and looked away, still looking resentful and unwilling to listen. "The motivation isn't the same," he snapped. He didn't elaborate any further. He felt no desire to.

Piper nodded and, stifling a yawn, decided to head to sleep herself.

"Y-yeah. Right, nice to meet you, too." he said smiling back at the girl.Strangely, a minor blush had crept onto his face.

''Hey, you little troublemaker'' William said smiling slightly, as he playfully nudged Melody. ''I was feeling rather bored, so I thought you could cheer me up'' he said as he went along with Melody down the hall. Watching the sound elemental play around, really cheered him up. Melody was like an anchor for him, and he didn't succumb to his sadistic ways, because of Melody. And he was grateful for that....But what would Melody and all the others think of him when they found out that he was possessing a poor bastard. That was why he had to hide the fact...and not let anyone know. Cheerful, William spent the rest of what remained of the evening with melody.

(Seeing as everyone's sleeping, wouldn't a time skip be in order)

Monday Morning (Six Days later):

Greyston had spent most of the last week sleeping and recovering with healers working on helping his body fix the damage the fire had caused. On Friday, around 5:00 the evening, he had woken up. At the time his mind was still a bit hazy, but it didn't take him long to figure out that the connections between his upper half and his lower half were still severed. He could not yet walk, it seemed, but at least he could be awake. He did not want to be out and about if it meant being in a wheelchair because he hated showing that type of weakness, but it seemed everyone already knew because he had been gone for most of the time.

Now, at 9:00 A.M. on Monday morning he was only just starting to get control of his legs back, as walking was not yet a simple or painless task, Greyston climbed into his wheelchair and headed down to his office. From the time he had woken up he started taking back the reigns of control. He was not one who liked being out of a job, or letting others to his job for him. As he got there he looked out of the window in his office over the main room of the department on ground-level: The
workstations for the other agents. He was impressed with how quickly the department had been put back together. The department had specialized crews that they sent out to help with repairing the city. He knew that things had gotten very out of hand, but they had successfully minimized casualties. Though, you never want to let 1,345 people die, when it's compared to the total population of 658,893, one could see how it could obviously be much worse.

Liliana had spent the week finding her place within the department. She told them of her skills with aircraft and they told her that were they ever needed she could be one of the pilots there, but until another apocalypse started, she probably wouldn't be needed. After that she had searched through the other jobs at the department. Deciding none of the others really interested her, she decided she'd work in the field as an agent and a fighter. Of course, she was by no means a people person so that meant Piper had to find a partner for her- or stall until Greyston woke up.

Now, she headed to the cafeteria at the department- if one could
call it a cafeteria. It was more like a restaurant. She wondered how the department could afford such fantastic workspaces given their government budget, but that really wasn't any of her concern.

Alex had spent the week doing his job mostly. He followed older agents around sometimes, learning their jobs and figuring out- at the very least- what he didn't want to do for the rest of his life. He also spent a lot of time helping with clean up and hanging out with Sanja- and Justin if he had wanted to. Now he went to go wake her up to let her know it was time to start out the workday. He knocked at the door to Sanja's apartment in the Headquarter's building and waited a few minutes. Alex was by no means whatsoever a morning person, and if he was up, his friends better be up too.

Wednesday had left shortly after Bael's angry outburst, and no one had seen her or Caden since then.

Melody followed Will around most of the time. Occasionally she disappeared to follow someone else around for a short while, but usually she was all but glued to William's side. Now, however, as William was sleeping it was bored, so Melody was roaming about the headquarters building and saw two figures enter through the main doors and stop to check in with the receptionist's desk. It wondered who the two were, one had very, very red hair and they both seemed... foreign. Or, at the very least, not caucasion. Melody hadn't done much traveling, though, and couldn't quite place where the pair seemed to be from. Maybe they weren't even from the same place. The sound elemental really didn't know. What it did do was go to try and tell Will about the newcomers.

Melody appeared in Will's room and looked at the Kraken as he slept. It was torn between waking Will up and letting him sleep, so it just waited there for a few more minutes to see if he'd wake on his own.

@Elias @Sleipnir

The red-haired boy smiled at the receptionist. "Hi! My name's Shylock. My friend and I, we need to talk to one of your head detectives," he said. The receptionist looked skeptical. Skylock's expression fell a touch but he didn't blame her. "Oh, come on — it isn't some false alarm. This is really big. He's sick," Shylock explained. "And he's a vampire. Vampires don't get sick."

After thinking about this for several moments, the receptionist nodded and sent the two to Piper.

Piper looked up at the boy and his companion, caught off guard as she didn't recognize them. "New recruits?" She guessed.

Shylock shook his head and sat down. "I'm afraid not, ma'am. My name is Shylock. We have this problem — my friend here is sick. That's not a big deal, except he's a vampire, and he's not the only one who's sick," Shylock explained. "And everyone else is getting sick too. And it's very ugly. Could you maybe spare a team to get out there?"

Piper frowned. It was, indeed, odd. "Maybe," she said. "I'll talk to Greyston about it."

"Thank you," he said gratefully.

Sanja opened the door almost immediately, bright eyed. Alex might not be a morning person, but Sanja was. "Good morning!" She greeted cheerfully. "How'd you sleep? What's up?" The wolf trotted out next to her, and she pet his head. "Weird dreams last night! Odd things happening in the dreamscape. One of my close friends kept trying to warn me about something but something kept cutting him off. Strange." She didn't generally talk about her dreams, but though she was trying to be lighthearted about it, this one unsettled her. As she walked down the hall beside Alex she noticed Kyuma and waved with a smile.

@KattRai

Bael had been keeping mostly to himself, wandering the department silently and frequently he could be found looking at maps. "Good morning," Galleytrot was beside him suddenly. "Planning on leaving?"

Bael looked at him and didn't answer. "Not your funeral," he replied. Galleytrot shrugged.

"True," he replied. He disappeared, heading off to go check on Piper.

Kyuma was wandering around the department building, looking for a girl in a compromising position, when he noticed someone waving. He turned to find that person was Sanja. "Oh, good morning! Looks like you're really a morning person." he said, stretching. Honestly, Kyuma himself think of himself as such, but he never had much issue after he got out of bed. Maybe it was the thought of all of the beautiful women he was waking up to...

@Sleipnir

"Oh? Yeah? That's weird. Do you think it's anything to be worried about?" Alex asked her, watching her, then he turned and saw one of the other new recruits as he commented on her eternally happy attitude.

"Yeah, Sanja is an any time person, it seems." Alex said, smiling. "Have we met, by the way?"

The six days flew like moments for Will and Justin, and they worked the best out of their mini-holiday. Justin managed to get aquintaced with many of the Department agents, and spent time with Alex and Sanja. He now knew where everything was put, he adored his room, and even got a job as Luke had. Techinician/field worker. That incited him to the max. The days passed quite fast, and he found things to do while at it. Will, however, was not an holiday person. He stuck around Melody as long as he could, and in the meantime, actually got some friends aswell. He did a few cases to loosen the time: stopped some demons from stealing souls through deals, saved an entire apartment from hungry insectoids, and twarthed a robbery organised by wraiths. Overall, all went well, and he hasn't seen William in that time so all was good.

Sighing, Will woke up and looked at the clock. It was a new day, and it was sunny outside by the looks of it. Glancing around his room, he noticed Melody sitting besides his bed. ''Hey'' he smiled groggily. ''Give me a few minutes to dress and you'll tell me what you want'' he said as he got up, and dressed himself. ''Ok. What's going on?'' he asked as he saw that the elemental was irking to tell him something. @KattRai

(Also a small indroduction for Jeff)

A loud shriek could be heard, as a gigantic fire bird flew over the tops of the building of Detroit. The phoenix soared mightly, and his eyes were burning with fire. Concentrating his eyesight, he spotted his victim. A lone werewolf hopping rather unenthusicastically through the streets. Landing a few metres away from him, the phoenix changed into a human form. A man, dressed in a trenchcoat with a quirky smile. ''You're not going anywhere troublemaker''he added kicking the werewolf from the back. He expected it to give him some delight, by fighting yet the werewolf collapsed from a single kick. 'What the hell. Why are you so weak? I've seen pregnant ladies tougher than you'' he said as he turned the werewolf's body on his front. Then, with a shout he backed up. The werewolf looked like litteraly hell. Swollen red eyes, skin irking with weird blob-like formations, teeth rotting.

''Not again'' he said, facepalming. This was like the 100th case he has seen like this in the last few days. People were getting sick everywhere, by numerous diseases, some that nobody couldn't even identify. They all ranged from diabetes to cancer, to unknown diseases and even mixtures of known ones. And it was happening spontanousely. Jeff was starting to think it was better to call some help on this.....

Sanja shook her head with a frown. "I don't just dream, Alex. There seems to be something to worry about, if you ask me. Things like that don't happen unless there's something to warn me about." Once Kyuma spoke, she shook the seriousness off. She didn't want to worry him. "Oh - yeah, I guess I could be called a morning person. I get to bed early, so I guess it's just a matter of choice. Can't sleep past sunrise, you know. Alex, this is Kyuma. They called him in from Chicago, I think. I could be wrong."

Piper slid in her rolling chair to Greyston's office across the hall. "We have a couple of vampires in here," she said. "They say that people are getting sick in Detroit. And vampires. Vampires are getting sick. They're asking about a team to look into it. I can sort of see where their concern comes from." She glanced back to her room. "It sort of bothers me, too."

She looked up as Galleytrot appeared beside her. "You look horrible, Greyston," the Black Dog observed.

"Galleytrot, we're working," Piper said somewhat irritably. "Could you put Bael up? I was hoping you'd be back soon. I don't want him causing any trouble."

Galleytrot nodded. "This'll be quite the spectacle, won't it? Me dragging an angry poltergeist down the hall." With that he was gone to carry out the task.

"Yeah, Sanja is an any time person, it seems." Alex said, smiling. "Have we met, by the way?"

"I don't think so. I'm Kyuma." he replied. He couldn't think of a instance over the past week where he'd spoken to this guy. Or any guy at all, for that matter.

"Yeah, well, one will find that showering is difficult when one's legs are temporarily unavailable." Gryeston told the Black Dog, thankful his body no longer produced the oils that a normal human produced. He then watched Galleytrot leave, hoping they wouldn't have another massive restoration project on their hands by the time Bael was locked up again.

Then he turned his attention back to what Piper had told him. "Yeah? Hmm, strange to see their type come asking for our help. I'm a bit surprised they spoke to you, actually." Greyston said, looking to the two in Piper's office as well. He recognized the darker one, Kidlat Aquino. He was the guard dog for the Golden Fang. Sighing, Greyston tried leaning back in his chair, then remembered it was just a wheelchair and got a rather irritated look on his face.

"Right, if they're coming to us for help, something really is wrong. Figure out who the red head is and we'll put together a team to go out there and check it out. I'll be in contact with the Detroit branch of the Department out there. You'll be leading the team, probably. You up for that?"

"Oh? Chicago, huh?" Alexander asked, looking at Kyuma. "That's pretty cool, the city is usually a much more fun place than it has been this last week or so. I'm Alex, by the way, Alex Swift. Sanja's friend." He offered a hand to the other boy, to shake, then yawned a bit.

"So, what do you guys say we get some food?" He asked, looking between the two.

@Sleipnir @Kalin Scarlet

"Someone's Knockin' At The Door/Somebody's Ringin' The Bell" Melody Sang, pulling a Paul McCartney song. The elemental looked as though it was struggling to say exactly what it was that it wanted to say. Then, Melody, as a small boy motioned for William to follow it, not realizing the two strangers had already been taken care of.

@Elias

"Sounds good to me," Sanja said enthusiastically. "I haven't had anything to eat yet. I'm starving!" she looked at Kyuma as if waiting for an answer, but suddenly ducked out of the way, turning sharply. Bael was, as Greyston predicted, causing quite a ruckus. Galleytrot was walking casually, as if he was unaware of the poltergeist's tantrum. He looked as though he was being dragged by the collar or something, digging in his heels and tripping as he tried to get away from Galleytrot. The Black Dog ignored him. Sanja hopped aside as a rolling chair flew across the ground toward her. "...Oh dear. Here's to hoping no windows get broken again," Sanja said, watching the display with interest.

Piper looked at the pair before looking at Greyston again. "He said his name is Shylock. He didn't elaborate any further though. Do you think he's with the Brotherhood?" she asked quietly. She was openly surprised by that thought. He certainly didn't act like he was, that was for sure.

Meanwhile, on DC TV...

"On today's news one of our reporters had a harsh time with one rather aggresive female member of the Department Against the Supernatural who didn't realise she was filmed" said the tv host. It seemed that there was a second cameraman with Dorian that day who filmed the short interaction between Dorian Evans and Piper but cut exactly at the part where Dorian talked about the ways of mass-media. Because of the way it was filmed it seemed like Piper was complaining about having to save people. Not only that but some parts of her speech were modified to sound more aggresive. Because the editing of the speech took some time to sound perfectly natural, the members of the Tv crew had to work on it for almost 6 days. "Good job Mr. Evans , this will be a great scandal" said the director of DC Times to Dorian who was in his office.

"It was my pleasure boss. Now if you'll excuse me I have to go" replied Dorian. Afetr an exchange of formal farewells the journalist went out of the office.

In his true form Evan-Dor flew above the city. He took out some sort of cosmic cube which emitted matter and reconstructed every building which was destroyed in a few seconds. He then entered a portal which he generated and disappeared from sight.

was prepared to respond on the matter breakfast, when the man and the ghost person passed through. "Does...that happen all the time?" He asked.

Sanja shook her head. "No clue," she said. "He's only just gotten here. I mean, Galleytrot's done this before, but he didn't react like that," she added, grinning. She made a mental note to go down to talk to Bael later. "Anyway, let's go eat," she repeated, dodging a filing cabinet this time.
