Fantasy Department of Defense Against the Supernatural

After a moment, Shylock stood up too. "I think I'll go help," he said quietly.

Sanja shrugged. "We'll figure it out," she assured Justin, then nodded approvingly to Shylock. "We always do. And I doubt we'd be allowed to come back until this particular case is dealt with," she added with amusement. "I might enlist the help of some friends of mine if we need to. I'm pretty excited. I mean, this'll be my first mission, too, in the field. I just hope that Piper treats me more like an agent than an intern."

Piper glanced up at Alexander. "You and the rest of our team will leave in the morning," she said. "I can't exactly give you no notice at all before we leave." She looked at her phone: Text from Sanja. Shylock wants to come.

Galleytrot was beside her then. "Great. What about me?"

She looked up, frowning at the Black Dog sitting on her desk.
"You aren't an agent," She pointed out. "I can't very well tell you where you can and can't go." He shrugged.

"You're not wrong. So, you leave in the morning? Great. See you at the airport."

"If you could sta here," Piper cut in, "That would be preferable."

'Hear my voice...'

Echoing in his head, Kyuma was unsure where the words had come from, but there they were, all the same.

'What? Who's there? Who are you?' he thought. Suddenly, a burning sensation occurred in his left arm.

'You know damn well who I am! I am the source of the power you wield, boy...I have tried to speak with you before, but it appears that you could not hear my voice until now...

"The source of...my power?" Kyuma said quietly as he stood with the others.

Ran paced about her large cavern filled with gold and valuables, which serves as her current home. She was considering going over to the nearby forest and exploring for some time, but decided against that.

Exia, disguised as a squirrel, rested in a tree in DC near the DDAMPSEA headquarters. Recently some of his minions took over a small town in Quebec and learned of his whereabouts. He allowed his minions to come with him in DC, but only if they were disguised as an ordinary animal or human. With the plenty of squirrels in DC, however, it would be hard to tell which of the many squirrels was the one Exia was disguised as.

Jumil sat under a tree in the park near the headquarters. She was supposed to meet her contact here. She had secret info to give him and she wouldn't wait forever

Luke called up Sam and told about the situation, and the need of an exorcism. "Can do." Sam texted back. Luke texted back to Piper. "He's on board. He'll be here soon. Have someone there to brief him."

Sam got the text, and went on the way to the DDAMPSEA main building, arriving about 30 minutes later. He walked in to Corin and Piper, poking in to pick up Luke on the way. "What's going on? What's this about the need of an exorcism"

"What's the city in question?"

Allan walked out the office. "Dial me up if something happens. Otherwise, I'll take the first thing I see." He called. Nothing was happening here, so he may as well take Corin's advice. There was a good bar he was a regular customer at. He may as well catch up. It wasn't very far, so he just turned camo again and went to the bar in question.

(I'll leave Allan on standby for whatever case.)

"Yes, please do go and check on the poor guy. Best case senario, you show up and help the cops apprehend a simple burglar, however the rich who specially request we monitor their alarm systems are expecting trouble for some reason, so do be prepared for something worse, please?" Greyston said to Will.

"Actually," Greyston said, turning to look at Piper when Sam showed up. "You'll all be leaving about now, seeing that the last member has arrived?" He nodded towards Sam. "I've taken the liberty of getting a plane lined out for you and the others. I hope you don't mind, Piper." He said. The others had presumably left and headed back to their workstations to check out whatever they had been assigned to. Now, it was time for Piper and her group to head out.

Liliana had nodded and followed Will, waiting for orders and the like. She was always prepared for just about anything, as she never left home without her glove that could summon any weapon she desired.

Alexander had left to finish up some work he had from another 'case' he had been working on. If one could call it a case, it was so easy your standard shady "hunters" could've taken care of the job, though. He waited for word from Piper on when they'd leave.

Jumil stands up from the bench and checks her phone "nothin..." she looks around "looks like my contact isn't coming...." she says as she starts to walk away

''Understood'' William said as he motioned for Liliana to follow him. Passing by the armory, he grabbed a gun for any case and glanced back at Liliana. He knew, she wasn't going to need a weapon as she had her fancy all-weapon glove. Exiting the HQ, with Liliana behind he lead her to his van and drove off to the house. Stepping out, he texted the Allan guy. ''We're on a nearby case'' he said sending him the coorrdonates. ''Pass by if you feel like helping'' @Kylesar1

Allan was in the bar, ordering his usual, a martini, straight-up, with a lime twist, when he got William's text. He didn't text back, and waited a while before leaving the bar. He only drank until he felt good, which was the ideal moderation amount, as he hated getting drunk. It messed with his ability to summon animals. They'd all be complete mutants, and not the huge strong kind seen in the Fallout series. They'd be the ugly nasty monstrosities that made him puke, and were completely useless.

He had left his car at the department, so he hailed a cab. He told the cab driver to drive to the coordinates. Getting there and paying the cab, he got out and walked into the house, where William was. "What's this case about?"

@Elias

Allerio didn't have to do much these days so he simply healed people under the alias of Aeron Everlight as usual. It wasn't like he gave up on vigilantism, but there simply wasn't any case that needed his attention...yet.

Meanwhile the new newspaper issue about the "aggresive female member of the Department Against the Supernatural" came up from DC Times and it was selling like crazy. The title was "Guardians or rabbid dogs? Beware the fury of the Department". Evan-Dor was at home and was sending a phone message to someone, but in his true form. The recipient's name was...Death and the message was: "Hey Pale friend we should play some tennis from time to time. What do you say?" @Sleipnir

Will turned back when he saw Allan approaching. They have been standing here for a while, waiting for Allan and they should get on the case. ''Finally'' he said then filled him with the details. ''So apparently, there has been a break-in at this wealthy's man house, that the Department is monitoring. They do not know if it's a case for us yet, but Greyston wanted us to catch up and see what we can find....The cops didn't find much, but there is evidence of things being stolen. The security guards have been beaten most effectively and I'm guessing the attacker had some strength, if he could take on so many security guards at once.. For now .Let's enter and see'' he said as he finally entered the house alongside Liliana and Allan. ''Split up. See what you can find.. Talk to the cops, look at the bodies, whatever, make yourselves useful'' Will said with a small smile, as he headed for the main center of the manor where the presumed action happened. @Kylesar1 @Sleipnir

Meanwhile in Detroit:

Jefferson got up from his bed where he was doing an afternoon nap. He felt like shit and honestly looked like it too. He was tired. He didn't sleep the last few days, cause he was wrecking his nerves trying to figure out what was going in Detroit. Where did the diseases came from? Did some sorcerer poison their air? Did Pestilence, the Horseman suddenly decide to give them a visit? Or was something much more ancient at work here. Opening his phone, he texted for the Department...

Things here are getting worse. The diseases are getting more and more complex and we even have reports of rotten creatures sprouting on parts of the city. Nothing concrete yet, but could use a helping hand as soon as possible.

Closing his phone, he slided down to another contact: Jess, his wife, who despite the racial difference, was actually a vampire. But they were happy together. They had a long and healthy marriage. Literally. They wouldn't get sick, and would live long, as phoenixes and vampires normally do. Sure, his heat may seem like something to run away from a vampire, but their love was more strong. The only problem was, that Jess was also sick. A vampire getting sick. Things were really turning for the worse here. He hesitated to press call, but eventually did. He had to be there for her, like he was all these years...

Everyone, gather up. We have a flight to catch.

Piper stood at the doors of the Department, waiting for her team to fall in with her. She looked at Sam. "We could be looking at an Abomination, a demon - possibly Pestilence itself. We're not totally sure yet. I apologize for pulling you away from your job on such short and admittedly uncertain notice, but I don't think we could afford to be unprepared in this case, especially if it spreads beyond Detroit." She hesitated. If there was anyone she was vaguely intimidated by, somehow, it was this younger man before her. As far as Piper was concerned, he just had that air to him. She looked over as Sanja approached with Shylock following. "Great. Just waiting on a few others." She nodded, looking between them.

Shylock looked away. "I expected someone less... Nice," he finally said as he glanced at Piper.

She frowned. "What makes you think that?"

He shrugged. "Oh -- just the press, you know? I saw some stuff before I got here on the news and all that. Talking about you - thought you'd be way more... I dunno... mean. Dominant."

Piper frowned. "Press?"

"Everyone's all over it. You're the major talk of the town right now with how you handled that reporter. Everyone's all out of sorts over it and don't want to trust you guys," Shylock explained.

Piper shrugged. "We don't really need approval from media sheep, Shylock. At worst they deal with a situation of 'can't live with us, can't live without us' - we just fought a lich and a huge, goddish squid-beast for them. Your average police can't handle the things we're here to fight."

Death got the message, and if anyone could see the image, it would be a strange one: Somewhere in the oblivion of his home, wherever it was, stood a great mansion. And inside this elegant manor was a fine parlor, and leaning against a beautiful granite fireplace was the incarnation of Death itself. He was a horrible, skeletal looking creature, with a nice suit. He was on his end of this phone, and he nodded though his friend couldn't see it. "Oh, certainly," he replied pleasantly, with a voice that hardly fit his ghastly appearance. "That'd be great. Tomorrow at seven, Earth-time? How's that sound to you?"

@Azure Sky

''Well that's that'' Justin said as he motioned for the others. Piper was calling on them, the mission was probably hailing to a start. Grabbing his bacpack, Justin reached Sanja, Shylock and Piper, and waited for the others. He was curious at what was going on in Detroit and he overheard Piper saying it could be something as worse as even Pestilence itself. Crap. He hoped they wouldn't have to face against an angry horseman, let alone a huge ass abomination. They will find out soon enough, but until then, the culprit remained a mystery.

Fred walked out the door following Justin, oddly relaxed considering they were going to be battling a supernatural plague. After rummaging through her messenger bag she produced both a claw clip and a pair of aviators, the latter of which she immediately placed on her face to blot out the mid morning sun. She took a moment to twist her hair into a single plait and clipped it into place. For a few moments she was silent aside from her occasionally tapping the toe of her pointy boot against the pavement. When suddenly she asked, "Are we waiting on anyone else?"

Liliana nodded, having been given her orders. She headed off to the right and went up the grand staircase, to the room that had been stolen from. When she entered, she saw quite clearly where the stolen items had come from. Whoever did this did not feel the need to cover his tracks, clearly.

Downstairs lay the dead body of the man the manor belonged to (whose name I do not remember.) When Elias entered, it was obvious this was now a murder investigation.

Alexander was ready to take off as soon as the others were, they all headed to a private airport and took off for Detroit

Victor stared intently at the massive pile of paperwork before, him growing agitated at the piled paperwork, "Gah! It isn't here... Why isn't it here?!" Once more, he skipped through the file, the information he sought once more evadng his hungry eyes. "The formula... I'm so close! This cannot be... IT CANNOT!" With a burst of rage Victor through the chair he had sat upon across the room, shattering it as was to be expected... Defeated, he collapsed against the wall, cursing his luck. The only other person who possessed such a formula was the President, or the Vice President. He'd never be able to survive if he killed either, every agency in the country would drop everything in favor of finding Victor... No, there had to be another way!

Once more, he paced across the laboratory, hidden nearly 100 feet under the manor. As a former scientist, and some research on poor old Connor Maxime, Victor had found the passage rather easily. Though he'd soon discover how good his pursuers were, the police had been there for a few hours. If he was to guess, the top cats of the investigation team were there now. No matter, surely they could not find the passage... Victor had time, time to come up with a new plan. Maybe rearrange the formula... He had no choice, time was currently of the essence. Rushing to the scattered files across the floor, he scooped up those most important and dumped them on a testing bed - likely used for all manner of experiments - before digging into the various essays of information, looking for something, anything that could aid him in his goal.

Sam looked at Piper. "It's fine. They'll be jumping down my back for not telling them, but the High Priest and the apprentices can handle things while I'm gone. If we're headed to Detroit, with a ton of disease-spreading insects flying around, shouldn't we be taking some precautions to not get bit. I can't protect all of us from those things."

Luke went behind the group. He gave Sam a small cube "Take this with you. It's a free-form cube. A piece of technology that only I and mages like me can control. It's a cube with a small portal inside it. Using that portal, and the form-shifting cube. I can turn it into pretty-much any small-scale piece of equipment or bot. You'll have my support from a distance."

Sam nodded and gave Luke his thanks.

At the crime-scene manor, Allan was looking into one of the rooms. Nothing out of the ordinary was popping out. He'd have to look a little deeper into things.

@Sleipnir

Piper nodded. "I think we're good to go." She then looked at Sam as they left for the private airport. "That's going to be Sanja's job. She will be handing out some enchanted bracelets once we get on the plane - they're enchanted with a protective spell in order to ward off whatever might be responsible for the sickness. It'll protect us."

Sanja nodded, putting a hand against her bag. She already had the bracelets done.

William paced around the room then bowed down near the the dead body. It was a quite recent killing, as the body was still fresh, and the hole from the victim's chest seemed to be made by something organic...A fist, perhaps? The victim seemed to have been struck down by a rather rushed shot to the chest. What was it? How was he really killed? William dwelled on these questions as he checked the victim. Connor Maxime was his name, and Greyston told him he was quite the richman. What motive would the killer have to kill this man if he only was there to steal something? The thing he stole must have been very precious, and the killing may have been accidental, or personal. He had to look deeper in this. He glanced back to Liliana. ''Come here a little'' he said as he showed her the body. ''What does this look like to you?'' he said showing her the wound. @KattRai

Justin recieved his bracelets in quiet as he watched the plane sore.

Carnifex and Vortigas had left the warehouse for about an hour before the police arrived. When the cops first laid eyes upon the graphic scene most of them had to turn away, and those who didn't ended up spilling their lunch. The two Hollows had found a three story building close by that provided a hidden place to watch the scene unfold. Carnifex laughed mockingly as another cop bent over and ruined his shoes. "You'd think they might be able to hold their composure better. They are cops after all." After watching in silence for a few moments Carnifex turned to Vortigas. "Time to go. I don't want to be around when those Department pukes arrive. I might have to indulge myself if we stayed around for them." There was a panel van awaiting them outside of the building. Once inside the back they were met by a familiar man dressed in a black suit, shirt, pants, and balaclava. The only thing on his person that wasn't black was his white bowtie. "That seemed to cause quite the stir among the police force. They haven't stopped chattering away about it." The van pulled away from the crime scene as the man continued. "We have another target for you." The man pulled out a picture from a dossier. "This man was responsible for shipping our equipment over from the old lab in Prague. It would be a standard hit, if it wasn't for the fact that he has been mulling on about some things involving our operations. Vortigas, I'd like you to extract what you can from him, then set him up with something rather horrid. I don't care, your pick. Just don't let it kill too quickly. Otherwise, I trust that you'll be able to do this with no hiccups. The bastard only keeps minimal security, mostly local thugs looking for a buck."

The man stopped and looked at the Hollows, his grey eyes conveying a since of pride, maybe even admiration for the two. "I know it won't be much to play with, but try to enjoy yourselves. I'm counting on you boys to deliver." Carnifex nodded. "We won't let you down, father."

Elsewhere,

Ronan placed an ice pack on his head as he groaned. His body ached from his last fight. With the Hydra out of his system it felt like every part of his body was in some form of pain. "I freakin' feel like a junkie man. An Osteomantic junkie. Now I know why people complain about being sore. Ah well, hopefully that shop will be open soon."

@Elias @OriginalDaydreamer

''Oh joy'' Vortigas muttered happily as he stood in the van, alongisde his fellow hollow. ''I get to play''. He was excited. He was finally going to be able to torture some poor bastard. The name didn't even interested him. As long as it bled, as long as it screamed in agony, while puking blood...It was good for Vortigas. Human bodies were such frail little playthings. They had a soul, those poor bastards. A consciousness, probably telling them what's right and what's wrong. What to do and what not to do. Should they make that decision or should they make the other? It was quite poetic, and the fact that he and Carnifex were that once, brought a shiver of unpleasantless down Vortigas's spine. This right here. The Order. This was a good place. The place that did everything fun. Sure, they tortured him, they turned them into unspeakable monsters, but that was the beauty of it. As his ''father'' once told him: There is beauty in the suffering. You just have to look closer to see it.

Leaning forward from the place he was sitting in Vortigas did a small bow for his creator: ''I won't dissapoint you, father'' he said then glanced at Carnifex. ''We won't dissapoint you'' he said as he took the picture. Grabbing a nearby knife, he started tracing a line down the guts of the man in the photo, then with a violent grab, smacked his paper head away in a second. Holding the photo in his hand, he looked at intensely. ''I hope you're ready, labrat. Cavarly is on their way'' he said finally as he gave in to a maniacal laugh... @BookWyrm

Jefferson was standing at the coffee stand of his own HQ, when he got a memo telling him that the agents were on their way. ''Yay'' he said rather unethosistically. ''There come my knights in shiny armor'' he said. Won't be long until they arrived. He actually wondered how many would get sick, and spill their lunch out, when they found the disease here. Glancing outside, he noticed everyting was going worse. More rotten beings were showing up on the outskirts of Detroit, there were a lot of casulaities and now, swarms of vicious diseasing filthy pest flies were roaming around stinging everybody. It was like the Apocalypse. Like Pestilence decided to take a damn shit in his town. He didn't like it. Not one bit. Who was behind this? Who?

Sanja stopped in from of Kyuma. "Your bracelet," she offered cheerfully to the other agent.

Piper sat down with a sigh, waiting for the plane to land. She had a bad feeling and couldn't wait for this to be over.

"What?" Kyuma said, the vacant stare fading to a look of surprise as he focused on Sanja. "Wh-What did you say?"

Looking at her hand, he noted the bracelet in her hand. "Oh, I see. Thank you, Sanja. I appreciate the work you did putting this together." He said with a smile. It was then that he noticed the pain in his arm had faded.

"It looks to me like someone pushed a hole in his chest." Liliana said, looking at the body as she stepped over to where William was. "Surely no human could just punch through like that? But I don't see any half bookends or any missing spaces where something approximately fist-sized should be." She added. "So, maybe something with some kind of super human strength? There are plenty of humanoid creatures capable of something like this."

"Thanks, Sanja." Alexander said, smiling at the spirit mage. He stared out the window and awaited their landing in Detroit.

(
@Sleipnir miss storyteller, push the plane along if you will.)

''Sure. Would you prefer my place, yours or neutral ground? Also: cosmic or normal tennis?'' texted back Evan-Dor. Of course everyone on Earth knew how normal tennis was but cosmic tennis couldn't be played by normal beings. It was like normal tennis regarding the rules and how it played out but it had a few ''small'' differences: the players had nigh-indestructible rackets and the ball was a concentrated energy sphere with enough power to desintegrate a galaxy. The rackets also amplified the speed of the ball on contact, making it supersonic.

Allerio was still on ''standby''. He trained during the night and helped people in need during the day. Meanwhile there was a rumour about a powerful human withing the police forces. One strong enough to fight supernatural beings of almost any kind. The more unusual fact was that the man was blind. Some found it hard to belive but it was true. Ethan Adams was the man's name. He was a police inspector and at that moment, he looked over some info regarding a certain murder case.
