Fantasy Department of Defense Against the Supernatural

She gives her a grin, "In that case, I'm the proprietress." She transfers one of her shopping bags to the other arm before rummaging around in he bag for her keys. Finding them in moments she opens the door and gestures for the woman to enter. "I haven't quite finished setting up my inventory so if you don't see what you're looking for then just ask and I'll tell you if I have it at all." She says as she flips the light switch and moves to place her purchases behind the counter. As she does so a large black cat would slink down the steps, hop onto the counter and proceed to watch the newcomer.

Liliana moved into the shop, looking around. "You have quite a selection here," she said, browsing through some simple pain remedies and sleep potions. "So, I don't suppose you carry some of that incense you burn to keep you healthy, do you? Anything spreading to rapidly in Detroit is surely not far from DC, Right?" She asked, turning to the woman. "Or, perhaps, something I could use to track someone down, on a different note?"

Back at the Department, Greyston nodded, "Yeah, maybe, why don't you and Will go check it out in person? I'm gonna go see that plane and check for magic. The pictures make it look pretty awesome."

"Alright," Piper nodded, grateful that he dropped the subject, and stood up. "I'll go get him, then." She went to William. "Do you want to go on out now?" she asked, folding her arms. She was a bit eager to get out there. It wouldn't be long before people started getting a little nervous - you couldn't quite leave a body out on the street and expect people to ignore it.

She quirks an eyebrow at her before speaking, "The closest thing I have to incense that keeps you healthy..." she says making quotes with her fingers around "incense that keeps you healthy", "Would have to be dried sage. But even then all burning it does is expell negative energy." While saying this she shuffles around until she finds a braid of the dried sage and holds it out for examination.

"I could make you a medicine bag to deflect natural illness, or a hex bag to ward off harmful magic. But those can get rather pricy depending on what you need protection from."

"If its a locating spell that you want, I can perform a divination for you. But those cost a pretty penny, and a few of her uglier sisters, depending on just what and how I have to find it."

Luke walked into his office to check the cases. Immediately upon turning on all his equipment, he got 3 notifications:

1) A mysterious plane has appeared in the outside of this city. The circumstances surrounding it is a mysterious, as officials can't seem to identify it

2) A huge tree has appeared in Logan's Circle. A body was found within the tree. Again, the circumstances are a mystery, as the tree has appeared overnight.

3) Detroit has had a 40% increase in sickness over the past few days. Officials are now trying to uncover the sickness and the vector responsible.

Eh........ #1 was too close for him to actively pursue. Also, it seemed kind of cliche to him. He'd indirectly have to involve himself with this case. Only if another detective wanted him to do something like check cameras, or search for magic or magic residue would he get involved.

#2 seemed kind of interesting. A body in a tree that's appeared overnight. This was definitely a nature creature. Again, though, nothing else has happened enough for him to get directly involved with this case.

Luke found it weird that his computer would even alert him to #3. Medical things weren't his thing. Hell, he overlooked info on Corin's inquiry for Necrosis. He couldn't do a thing there, but it was the most interesting, as nearly 40% of Detroit was all sick with the same symptoms...........over the past few days. Even for a hellhole like Detroit, it was weird. This was DDAMPSEA, but nothing he could do at the moment. He commanded his computer to alert him of any new developments in what he now dubbed the Vector Case, and decided to pursue #2 indirectly.

He walked to Corin's office, and stood at the open door. "Yo," he said, yawning. "Sorry for the inactivity this morning. I overshot my magic, and it put me out of commission for a while. I know the cases. What's to be done?"

@KattRai

Allerio didnn't attempt any vigilante acts lately. He just healed people with his magic, under the alias of Aeron Everlight. He grew even more popular than before. Even his vigilante persona grew quite popular , as the criminality rate in Washington DC dropped considerably since his arrival and the events regarding the destruction of the various headquarters of mafia gangs and the killing of dangerous supernaturals. Of course oter events happened as well...but not regarding him. There was a high increase in sickness lately, as well as the appearance of this huge tree in Logan's Circle. For the moment Allerio simply sticked to healing and helping people in need. The rise in sickness became a problem.

''Should I investigate this?'' he asked himself.

Liliana listned to the woman as she spoke, and nodded. "I'm sorry if I seem ignorant, I know little about this kind of magic. The tracking spell isn't important, then, either. I don't really even know exactly who I'm looking for- I was just curious if it was a thing." She thought on the healing things, "Could you make up a medicine bag? I have plenty of money, I'm just worried about whatever's going around in Detroit. Have you seen the news?"

Greyston, meanwhile, was about to head out when Luke stopped him.

"Ah, Don't worry about this morning. And right now we have William and Pip heading out to check the tree out, Uh, we are still looking for the vigilante, I'm not sure how much help you'd provide with the random plane- but you could see if it was magic of some kind. I just got a picture and it doesn't look at all like it's from the past or present." He said, "Or, you could always help with recruitment? I was thinking we should talk to the dragon and Valkyrie who helped out at the explosions, and Will wants to test out a guy named Justin- half angel. You two could take on one of the older cases?"

She chuckles, "If this is for protection against what going on in Detroit, you're going to need a Hex Bag."That plague is the product of evil magic, not something natural." She bustles around the shop taking small bits of this and that from the various mason jars all suspended on the back wall. A few minutes later she returns to the counter and begins placing the assembled raegents into a small buckskin satchel. "Angelica root, Ague root, Amber, Sea salt, and Brimstone." She steps back from the counter top, tapping her foot and stroking her chin for a moment. "I'm forgetting something..." she says to herself, "I always forget something." The cat meows once, with what could almost be described as a smug look on its face, and she looks down at him before exclaiming, "Thats it!!! Barty you're a genius!!!" She hugs the cat before turning her attention to the woman. "I'm going to need something personal before I can finish this off."

After centuries of research and gathering of powerful undead bodies, Oberon was ready to put his plans into motion. Penumbra was looking at him from afar while shaping darkness in the form of small spheres and playing with them. The powerful Mekasm was thinking about something. He was silent for quite a while. Penumbra chose to break the silence herself. ''King of Nothingness, you've gathered everything you needed right? Does that mean that our beloved dream of engulfing this sick world in the darkness of our hearts draws near?'' she asked. Oberon looked at her and replied in a dead, deep voice: ''Do not worry. We shall begin shortly. I was just making the finishing touches. Good, very good, everything is settled. The world should know of my arrival, or better said...return''.

The necromancer summoned an undead man in a robe.''Begin!'' ordered Oberon as he touched the forehead of the undead wizard with the index finger of his right hand. The wizard then started chanting something on a low voice. Seconds later a huge astral projection of Oberon appeared above the city of Washington DC and he started speaking on a deep, intimidating and emotionless tone: ''Greetings mortals and immortals. I have returned and the void, the darkness in the empty space which I once called a heart shall consume both the living and the dead. Welcome to the end of the world as you know it...the waters shall be shallow''.

''Nice introduction, or maybe the better term would be reintroduction'' said Penumbra before letting out a chilling crazy dual-voiced laugh. Oberon looked at her without saying anything then he made a sign towards her to follow him. They had work to do. Only those who lived a few centuries would remember or know about the King of Nothingness and Allerio was one of them. He stood there, shocked, looking at the sky, without saying a word. After few minutes he started running towards the city center.

Inside the loud and busy Department HQ, Piper had missed the sounds from the sky. She motioned for William to follow her and headed for the exit. As she did, though, she stopped short, staring at the TV. The news was already on the King of Nothingness's little speech. "Piper?" Galleytrot was there then, looking very grim. "This is a big issue. Call in all your best. Make sure they're ready to die because they probably will."

Bael had since thrown over everything in his cell and sat on the floor near the corner. Suddenly he felt a strange sensation in his stomach, like a painful twisting or jerking. He looked up at the ceiling, frowning, and was certain something was horribly wrong.

"Personal like what?" Lilliana asked, looking at the witch, curiously before hearing the voice erupt from the sky.

"Nevermind, I think this will have to wait..." she said, she went to the window and looked out, seeing a figure- no, the image of a figure over the city. He seemed familiar somehow, though she could not place him. What she did know was that booming voices from the sky over crowded cities was never a good sign.

"I think maybe that's more important than this right now. I'll be back later!" She called as she ran out of the shop and off towards... the center, she she supposed. She had no clue where the offender was, just where his image had been.

Greyston nodded when Galleytrot appeared. He didn't have the hearing of a wolf, but he heard well enough to know that it was time to work for a living. "The tree can wait. Lets catch this guy before this gets any bigger, I don't want a repeat of New Orleans, we've had enough casualties lately. Will, you want to go get Justin? It looks like I found his test. Luke, figure out what we are dealing with here. A planet of darkness doesn't strike me as too terrible, so figure out how he fights. I don't have a problem if all he wants is a nice thick cloud layer, exterminate the sun and we have a problem. Piper... I need you to come with me. Galleytrot too, I have a theory I need you two to help me test."

Melody, meanwhile, was with Justin at the time of the voice. It didn't truly understand what was happening, but it thought that maybe it was bad. It sounded bad, anyway. If this guy killed off everything that recorded sound, he'd kill Melody. Melody didn't really think that death sounded all that fun, either.

Piper nodded, curious about Greyston's plan. She was unsure why he needed her and Galleytrot, and honestly that was slightly alarming.

Galleytrot clenched his jaw, then fell in right next to Greyston. "What is your plan?" He asked, slightly concerned himself.

Greyston led them to the elevator, and pressed the button to go down to the secure level. "I overheard you earlier, you said you could control sprits- or drag them around, anyway. Well, I have a bit of a theory about why our lighthouse friend is so strong. I doubt he'll listen to anything I have to say, though, after that last encounter. He's shown signs of helpfulness in the past- and he clearly didn't simply want to kill people or he wouldn't have kept the light house so diligently- probably. Piper, tell him what is happening, I doubt he knows who this is, but see if he will help us. I don't want to waste a cage on him if it isn't necessary- and this can be a good test run."

"Wait up!!!" She yells leaping over the counter and charging after her. "So much for keeping a low profile..." through their link she tells Bartholomew to finish the final ward, and lock himself in the basement with her strongest spell books.

Piper looked a little reluctant but nodded. "As long as Galleytrot's ready to keep him off me, I'll try. I can't imagine him saying no considering the apparent stakes... And a chance to get out," she added.

Before long she was at the door of Bael's cell. She took a breath, opened the door and stepped inside. His immediate reaction was to stand up and he looked very hostile, but did nothing to attack. "So," she began awkwardly, "We have, uh... A slight problem."

Bael stared at her, tilting his head down and away a touch. "Yes...?"

"There's a huge monster out there that wants to bring on the apocalypse." She said bluntly, not wanting to dance around. Easing him into this information wouldn't help.

And he didn't look happy about that. He frowned. "What about it? You want my help, or were you just letting me know of your impending doom?"

Piper shrugged. "Your choice."

Luke followed Corin to the elevator. "Can these deities cool it with attacking Earth? I swear, they need to take a recess or something."

Using his magic, Luke conducted inquiries on about 7 of his computers from inside the elevator. What popped up were a bunch of articles from multiple archives, and multiple cults. Using the process of elimination, Luke gave an spoken report. There wasn't time for writing

"Back from the void? The creature we're dealing with is a creature that can actually live there. That fact alone rules out anything mortal, anything not ancient, and anything that can die by traditional means. No god lives in a void, so according to my research, the only possible creature we can be dealing with is a lich.

"A lich is an undead creature that stimulates immortality via a device called a phylactery. We can kill it, but not permanently without destroying the phylactery. It can raise the dead. Needless to say, something like that is very powerful. Raising the dead means we have to protect our graveyards."

"If you need some kind of suggestion, I say we evacuate the citizens either out of this city, or to a fortified area, Walking Dead style."

"Agreed," Greyston said, waiting back with Luke while Piper spoke with Bael. Out of this city is best, if we can. I've got some calls to make, we'll fortify the Southwest waterfront where the river forks- that way the people are protected with water from either side from any sort of skeletal zombie army attacks. Beyond that, I'll send people down to help with that. Want to convince the local police to help us out with the fortification area for any who can't get out in time? I've got to let some other agencies know what this guy can do, and set up for evac. So far all he's done is a fancy magic trick and give a loud threat, lets make him pay for announcing his presence. Also... I wonder what effect such powerful necromancers have on the undead? I suppose we'll see.

Liliana turned to see the shop owner following her. "You're coming too? Okay, but I don't know for sure what we're dealing with."

"Fine, then," Bael replied after several long moments, as though he had to think about his answer. "After all. What good does it do me to sit here, useless?"

"Galleytrot isn't going to leave you unattended, mind you," Piper told him.

He just stared at her. "That doesn't change my answer. You might not know it because I hate you and your leech, but I do have something to protect. Let's get started." He walked past her out the door, heading up the stairs. Galleytrot followed him closely with Piper behind.

"Greyston, we have him," Piper said as they approached. "If it wasn't obvious."

"That may be true but magic is the best tool against magic and you... excuse me for saying this, don't appear to be up to snuff on your arcane and occult lore. I on the other hand am." Catching up to her she extends a hand, "Fred." "Bart, look up any and everything you can on beings banished to the void."

Luke nodded. "Aye. Can do. I'll get the Local Police. They'll have no choice but to help with the fortifications. My word holds a ton of weight in the Local Station"

"Alert me of any new developments or plans. You know my number."
He walked off, heading towards the local station. He hated talking to people, but it couldn't be avoided this time.

He sighed, summoning his invisibility module and hoverboard as he made it outside. He didn't want to be seen, and time was of the essence.

In the meantime, William mananaged to get Justin and help him suit him up during the comottion. There was a new villain in town apparently, but this time it wasn't a huge mass of tentacles, it was something far worse, and probably far smarter and cunning. A lich. Well, it wouldn't be a normal day, if someone wouldn't want to take over the world.

Justin had changed from his normal attire to something more battle suited. He didn't got rid of the hood as that was his favourite part, but now he looked more battle ready, with light slim body armor, multitask gloves and a confident smile on his face. Will, however didn't require to take any of that. He was a freaking Leviathan, for Christ's sake, his formal suit would do just fine. Finishing, they both reached the place where others have already met up. Corin and probably the whole gang was there. They were quite the A-Team till now. A group of a mix of vampires, humans, black dog, poltergeists, leviathan and other species seemed like a group that would intimidate even the bravest werewolf. Yet, he wasn't sure it was going to be enough to defeat the Lich.

As he reached the group, he nodded towards the others. ''Greyston. Piper. Everyone else'' he said bowing his head slightly and speaking in his formal tone. ''This is Justin, the Nephilim I was talking about. Justin shook everyone's hands respectfully. ''And this'' William said calling Melody from the back. ''Is someone that I want you to meet and it's been quite a big secret to keep'' he said as he presented them the elemental. ''This is Melody. His existence is in peril so he is going to join us as well''

(This is probably going to be my only post for the day, as it is late at my place, but from tomorrow, RP baby)

"Will do," Greyston nodded to Luke, who walked off as Piper and her merry band came over. "I see that, that's good." A moment later, Will was there with two new members. Melody nodded excitedly when introduced, and Corin introduced himself as was proper before assigning jobs.

"Now, I suppose it's time to see what kind of spirit you are, Bael Lake. Yes, yes, I know you don't like me. Now, you it sounds like we all know what we're dealing with: A B*tchy Lich, find the phylactery to put it away for good- and we aren't in the business of temporary solutions. I want Galleytrot and I are going to see if we can find the creature for now- or at the very least, watch for this to turn into a bad zombie movie. I hate zombie-movie zombies. If things start getting bad and they can't be evacuated, we'll send them down to the fork in the river south of Capitol hill. There will be people setting up a temporary fortress there, blocking off entrances and what not to seal it off. Luke is off to get the evacuation started, Pip, I want you to help him. Justin, you can help out wherever you see fit. Will, Bael, you two get to help make the fortifications for now, you two have the strength to do it quickly provided Bael has enough control?" He paused there for a moment. The statement was not a jab, but a question. It was important that Greyston knew who was capable of what. "If any of you find any one who wants to help, use your best judgement. Clearly that dragon who was around can help if he wants, but don't let them help if you think they'll be incompetent. We'll meet back up... on capitol hill once we're through with preparations. Now, Let's see what this meater's made of." He said, as they split to head their separate ways.

Melody made a noise like a loud trumpet, to get Greyston's attention.

"Oh, right, and Melody you can go help, er, Will and Bael." Greyston added, not really paying attention to the fact that the sound elemental may, in fact, be more helpful with the evacuation. It didn't really matter, either way though.

Lilliana nodded, the type of magic that Fred knew was certainly not the type that she knew anything about. She shook the woman's hand, and smiled, "I'm Lilliana, Valkyrie, so not as useless as I must have seemed in the shop."

She returns the smile before they continue on. "As impressive as it is that you're one of the actual 'Chooser of The Slain', something tells me that we'll need an army to put this thing down properly. So unless youve got a bunch of your shieldsisters on speed dial we're gonna have to find some help."

Bael watched the vampire carefully, stopping slightly inn front of Piper. As Greyston commented on Bael's intense dislike of him, the poltergeist broke in, "Oh, understatement. I still plan on killing you first shot I get." Piper frowned, looking at the ghost. That was alarming to say the least. When Greyston assigned her a job she nodded and considered their method.

Galleytrot nodded as he was given his job and saluted to Greyston, standing by to get started. Then when Greyston addressed him again, he looked at Bael expectantly.

The boy frowned and dropped his attention to the floor. "I'm not sure. I think I'll be fine."

He turned to go, stopping when he heard his name again and dropped his attention on Melody, curious as to what this one was even capable. "Let's get going." He looked at Will, eager to start getting things prepared for the situation to come.

Piper immediately took off toward the door, getting on her Bluetooth to contact Luke."I'm supposed to help you out here. Where are we headed?"

''They all probably expect you to raise the dead from the graveyards of this or another city'' said Penumbra, looking at the celling with a creepy smile on her face. ''Indeed... too bad for them though, that kind of thing only applies to weak or novice necromancers'' said Oberon on a dead tone. He had already prepared his lair and it already had all the materials he needed for necromancy. He spent centuries secretly gathering everythng from all around the world. He was preparing a high amount of deadly poisonous potions. After he was finished he used the souls within his body to store the various types of poison, most of them being highly corrosive. Afterwards he carged his esoteric lamp with mana. He was ready.

The remainings of what seemed to be the corpse of a man were placed in the center of a magic circle. This was going to be one of Oberon's masterpieces. He touched the circle and a pilar of green light was generated. After a few seconds a muscular and tall man came from the pilar, he was wearing an ancient chinese warrior attire. ''It's time to raise havoc, don't you think? Ancient legendary chinese warrior...Lu Bu'' said Oberon, as he touched Lu Bu's forehead and filed him with knowledge of the modern world.

img6933.jpg

Lu Bu remained silent for a few seconds before giving out a battle cry. Oberon didn't completey reanimated the warrior in such a way that he'd obey him, but he did keep some aspects of Lu Bu's personality, namely: his desire to find a worthy challenge for himself and his bloodthirsty warrior tendencies. The warrior awaited his orders. ''Penumbra , take it out and give it to him'' said Oberon. The hybrid did as she was told. A dark portal was generated and she pulled out a cyan blue spear from it, giving it to Lu Bu. ''Take it'' ordered Mekasm. The warrior took the spear which radiated with power.

Kalista_concept_5.png

It was an enchanted spear, a powerful and legendary one. ''This spear is known as Vendetta...Use it to bring chaos'' said Oberon, ordering Lu Bu. The spear was more durable than titanium and could even cut through the thoughest materials on Earth. It had the ability to cause esoteric blue fire outbursts on impact. The flames reached around 3000 degrees celsius.

The Warrior obeyed. With his new spear and enhanced undead body he quickly ran out through a oprtal whch sent him to the southern outskirts of DC. Lu Bu jumped in the air rotating his spear until he reached a medium sized building. He jumped igh enough to be above the building and as son as he came close to landing he hit it with the tip of the spear's blade. The combination of the speed of the fall, Lu Bu's enhanced undead strength and the overal power of the spear caused the bulding to crumble. Not only that, but once the spear made contact with the building a powerful 3000 °C flame outburst was generated , causing whatever was heat sensitive within the building to explode. A few of the flames also reached nearby cars wich also caused some other explosions.
